Re: Soapbox: My Nintendo's Updated Rewards Scheme Is Anything But Rewarding

Yoshi

@l33tchr12 You misunderstand the difference between claiming gold points and expiring gold points. Claiming gold points means you use a physical copy of a game to earn gold points. For example, I can use my physical copy of Super Mario Odyssey to earn 60 gold points, but I only have until the one year mark of the game’s release to claim those points because I live in North America. Those in Europe have two years to claim these points.

Once those points have been claimed I have one year to use those points before they expire. The one year deadline is the same for all regions.

Re: Kirby Star Allies Has a Demo Live on the eShop Now

Yoshi

@SanderEvers But that doesn't address the underlying issue here. Sure, I can go ahead and do that, and while it is a mild inconvenience, at least it's available to me. But, if I can easily access a product using a different region this close to release, why can't NoA just release it in North America?

Remember, I asked why this was the case. Not how to get the demo.

EDIT: You probably got several notifications that have this same exact response from me. I swear I only clicked Reply once, and then when I went to delete all the duplicates and it deleted all of them when I wanted to keep one. I apologize, but it seems like a certain website really wanted to glitch out on me. (Also doesn't help that the site went down for 10 minutes in the middle of all this)

"The demo still isn’t live on the North American eShop..."

Why are there still inconsistent eShop updates when the Switch is region free? What makes Nintendo of America think that it's a good idea to hold this back? I have many questions to ask Nintendo, but above all else, I just want to know their thinking beyond the PR crap.

Tenta Missiles
Made it so that the player can press the ZL Button, enter Squid form, and move around in the period between readying the weapon and firing it.

Whoa, this is actually a pretty big change....

Re: Review: Bayonetta 2 (Switch)

Yoshi

@SLIGEACH_EIRE You’ve been here long enough to know that they don’t dock points for it being a rerelease with no added features. They judge the game as is for people that haven’t played it before, which makes a lot of sense here. A lot more people will be able to play this game now, and reducing the score because it’s the same game as it was for a previous console misrepresents how good the game actually is. (It’s a different story if the game aged poorly, but I think we can be certain that that’s not the case here)

To be fair, I do concede that the review should’ve made it a bit more clear what’s new in this version and what was pulled over from the Wii U, and that the game as a whole is relatively unchanged.

Re: Random: When Photoshop Goes Wrong - Mario Kart 8 on a Vita With a GameCube Controller

Yoshi

@citizen_zane He's not doing it right in the picture, of course, but you can actually use the analog sticks only to race in Mario Kart 8. The left stick is to steer, as it always is, and the right stick is used to accelerate. The further up the right stick is, the more you accelerate. It's a neat way to have analog acceleration if you don't just want to hold down the A button to go. (and since Nintendo controllers don't have analog triggers currently, it's the only way it works)

Re: Grezzo Is Hiring Programmers to Help Make a “Legend”

Yoshi

Eh...it's probably not a Zelda game. Majora's Mask 3D went into development shortly after Ocarina of Time 3D. By the time the job listing went up the first time around, Majora's Mask 3D was more or less done.

Ever Oasis 2 seems more likely, or a game in a similar vein.

Re: Nintendo Switch v4.0.0 Update Brought Surprise GameCube Controller Adapter Support

Yoshi

As far as I know, the GameCube controller is treated as the Pro controller, meaning every game that supports the Pro controller also supports this. If you can get away with not having ZL, Minus, Home, and Capture buttons, not being able to click in the thumbsticks, and not having motion control, you’re good to go! It’s a long list of missing features, but it works just fine for games like Mario Kart.

Re: Nintendo Details Changes Being Made to Fire Emblem Heroes in Early March

Yoshi

Fantastic! I was worried that leveling up would be ridiculous if the required stamina was doubled. Also, I was wondering why the training tower had no rewards on Monday. Seems like an oversight to me.

Now, they just need to hand out more feathers. It takes 20000 feathers to get to the top rank, and you only get 2000-3000 a week.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Will Also Release on iOS on 2nd February

Yoshi

Uh...ok. I'll take it, I suppose.

Maybe Nintendo was working on the approval process with Apple and it was approved just after the Direct was filmed/aired. Or maybe Nintendo was being weird like they always do. One of those two might've happened (and I think we all know the more likely scenario).

Re: Review: Super Mario Run (Mobile)

Yoshi

@bluedogrulez It depends on how much you use Miitomo. The more you use it, the more space it takes up. I tried getting into it, but interest kinda fell off, so it only takes up about 90 MB for me.
