Wow, on Sunday, I was going to buy Paper Mario but I decided to hold off just to see if it was part of this sale. So glad I did, because it's $5.39 with the My Nintendo discount.
I consider Mario Party 2 to be the best one. It kept all the best things from the first one while introducing some neat, new mechanics. 3 was pretty good, as well.
I'm just twiddling my thumbs waiting for MP2 to be released on the NA VC. (and Mario Kart 64...and Super Mario RPG....)
@DefHalan We can't say for certain if it won't have anything exclusive, but it most likely will not. My best guess is that it's a few areas condensed down into one giant area for you to play in. Playtonic said that "There won’t be any objectives to beat, just a controllable duo, nice music and a few surprises too…" The surprises might be the only exclusive thing, but I wouldn't say you're missing out.
@DefHalan No, because it's like an extensive demo. It was originally advertised as a spoiler free, self contained space for you to play around in, but they said it's going to be a bit bigger than that. If you've got the full game, there's no point in wanting to buy this as an extra, because it's like playing a stripped down version of it. It's really only special because you get it before the game comes out.
Probably should be clarified that you had to contribute at a certain tier to get access the toy box. The way it's worded in the article makes it seem like everyone will get it.
@Senpai_Bruh Sure, if you want shoddy, ramshackle rooms with an over apologetic receptionist who lets people steal reservations just because they share a name and are the same race.
@BensonUii Did they outright promise that they would not release the GBA Ambassador games? I thought they simply said that they have no plans to release them.
@rjejr Seeing only "3 seconds" doesn't mean anything. People close to Nintendo have stated that the game is very close to completion. Of course, make of that what you will.
@Megumi_Sagano It does lag, but it isn't noticeable for a game like that. When you're trying to tap and flick to the beat (or those dreaded offbeats!) of the music in a rhythm game, it can be a nuisance when the game penalizes you even though you thought your timing was correct. It may not make the game unplayable, but it would make the game more unforgiving than it was originally.
Also, the game runs for $10 for a physical copy, at least on Amazon. That's a much better option.
@Megumi_Sagano The lag that results from playing on a TV/Gamepad, which tends to be about two frames for VC titles. Makes all the difference for a rhythm game. It'd be much easier to play it on the hardware it was designed around.
@DeltaPeng The second Investigations game is much better than the first. I'm not going to divulge specifics but let's just say that if you have the ability, you should try playing the sequel.
@Luna_110 @Nintendo_Ninja There is a demo for Dual Destinies on 3DS as well, but you only can play the first...third(?) of the first case. I know the demo cuts you off before the first day ends, but it does give you a decent amount of gameplay. The iOS version gives you the entire first case for free, though. Additionally, the iOS version of Trilogy lets you play the first two cases of the first game for free as well, but I heard that the iOS ports are somewhat buggy, and have not been updated for compatibility for more recent iOS updates. Feel free to try it out, but do keep in mind that the 3DS versions play flawlessly (or just shy of flawless).
And Nintendo's obsession with sticking an X to indicate crossovers continues. I know some of them make sense, but "Lime x Black" and "Pink x White"? Seriously? Nintendo's naming conventions knows no bounds.
How unfortunate. I was never drawn to Disney Infinity, but it always breaks my heart to see a studio close. Here's hoping everyone will have ample time to put a portfolio together and find a new place to use their talents.
@Vincent294 You're wanting Nintendo to get with the times on a console no longer supported? I somewhat understand your argument, but you really only have a point if you're discussing Wii U or 3DS.
Honestly, I think a part of the issue is that review scores are too similar to how scores are in schools/universities. Sure, we can try to spread out all the game review scores among the 10 point scale with 5 being the average, but there are so many people with the mindset that 5 is terrible because everyone is bombarded with the fact that a 70%, or a 7 is average.
Being constantly exposed to one particular scale in which 7/10s of the scale is useless causes other similar scales to follow suit. It's purely psychological.
@Manjushri It can be a lot to take in, but I can already see what's causing you issues. When you rub, you're converting "Unity Power" to Energy, not "Stamina". Stamina are the cards with the hearts on them. Stamina slowly decreases naturally through a race, but if you're taking a corner too wide, or if playing a hand after Peak Time, your Stamina will decrease faster. You may have noticed a red icon with an arrow moving downward along with text saying "Turning Loss" or "Peak Over". That's your indicator that your stamina is decreasing faster. To prevent this, you need to earn "Perfect Scores" (clear all the tableau piles), and this will usually prevent Stamina loss.
Now for "Unity Power". You earn this by clearing cards and you get a bonus for clearing the hand (only if you're in any Comfort Zone). You want to rub the button when your horse's mood is blue or green because you'll get more energy, but if you're almost full, then you need to rub regardless of the mood. If your horse's mood is red or yellow, and you still have room for more Unity Power, I would hold off and try to improve your horse's mood in the next hand.
As for Energy, you will earn more energy if you're in a high level Comfort Zone. The whitest, narrowest part is Level 3 and earns you the most. The area surrounding that is Level 2 and the area surrounding Level 2 is Level 1. You need as much energy as possible to win the race (you're generally in a good spot if you have a crown next to your energy, that means you're in the top 3).
I picked this up since it was free and wanted to see what it about. It's a nice little extra, but nothing too terribly special. You can access about 11 (I think?) stages using any amiibo, and using one of the 10 supported amiibo will unlock 4 levels dedicated to the abilities of that particular character. There's also a bonus world only unlockable by collecting cards in all the levels, each one requiring a specific amiibo.
I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for doubting whether or not Fates will receive more DLC. All the DLC released up to this point has fallen under DLC Pack #1. I'm pretty sure that clearly implies there will be more content to come.
I'll be getting Star Fox Zero and Guard physically tomorrow morning (gotta love Amazon and their 20% discount).
However, I am disappointed that Mario Party 2 isn't on the list today, after seeing it in the European update. I just don't understand NoA and their policy on VC games. Off the top of my head, we don't have Super Mario RPG, Mario Kart 64, and now Mario Party 2 even though Europe has all three.
@andrew20 Star Fox for the SNES will probably never show up on the Virtual Console, due to issues surrounding the Super FX chip (see Yoshi's Island on SNES). However, not having Star Fox 64 on Wii U is a valid point.
Apparently, we're going through a phase where people find "hidden" things nearly three decades after a game comes out and makes a huge deal about it being a new find, despite a good chunk of people already knowing about it.
And yes, I did know that sliding down and grabbing the Hammer Suit would continue the animation.
@VanillaLake Oh? I honestly thought it was required. I think playing the GBA version instilled that mind set because it tracks it. But sure enough, you're right.
I'm not concerned about motion control at all. I loved them in Skyward Sword. And Splatoon. And the Zelda remakes. The only games that had frustrating motion controls was Twilight Princess on Wii, mainly because I originally played the Gamecube version first, and the motion controls felt (and, most likely, were) tacked on.
It's a shame that the Gamecube component cable is ridiculously expensive, which is precisely the reason why last year I bought a Wii instead of a Gamecube, and used the Wii component cable to play Gamecube games. There's a number of games that support progressive scan, and even some that support 16:9 output!
@getyourak That's what I'm hoping for, but right now it seems like that's it's intended for entering in codes for buying digital software codes at retail stores (that's what it says on the website).
But with things like this, maybe we can get codes for taking advantage of promotional offers, and we'll eventually get to the point of being rewarded for buying games in any form.

Will be shown at E3 on July 15, huh? E3 goes for an entire month?
Re: Nintendo Unveils Massive E3 eShop Sale in North America
Wait, when I go to buy a game, it asks if I want to redeem my additional 10% discount or not. Is this a one time offer? Can anyone confirm?
Re: Nintendo Unveils Massive E3 eShop Sale in North America
@DarthNocturnal It's not 50% off. It's 40% off, then 10% off. 40% off of $7.99 is $4.79. 10% off of $4.79 is $4.31.

Hmmm...I can see why Microsoft shot it down, but a part of me thinks they should've let Rare have one last chance with the series.
Despite how dated it is, I still thoroughly enjoy Perfect Dark today.
