The weakest hardware that supports FFXIV is the PS4, and the Switch successor will likely be similar to that in power. While it would be technically possible, I would say it’s unlikely for a number of reasons. The game is getting a graphical update alongside the new expansion, Dawntrail, in less than 2 weeks. While PS4 will still be supported, it does come with a number of concessions in order to making gameplay feasible. It’s also worth noting that PS4 support has only been confirmed through the length of the new expansion (typically about 2 to 2.5 years). I’m not saying, nor am I anticipating, that PS4 support will be dropped in the following expansion in two and a half years, but a consideration needs to be made when bringing new hardware into the fold that is equivalent to hardware on the cusp of the chopping block. I also don’t anticipate Creative Studio 3 making a cloud server either (not to be confused with its Cloud data center that recently underwent a stress test, they are different). However, if the Switch successor can position itself substantially ahead of the PS4’s power, then a case can be made for the game to be ported, and the closer it can get to the PS5, the more moot these statements become.
@WoomyNNYes Yeah, it just feels like it’s that much harder to win now, I hope they upped the number of secret sea snails for the losing teams to compensate for there being less winners
For those that are curious what it originally was, the beginning of this explanation is identical to the Wii version. However, once you vaulted up to the ledge, you got an explanation of the stamina gauge and the autojump mechanic.
In total, this simplification removed 5 boxes of dialogue. A minor change, but still a good change nonetheless.
@Octane While it might seem like a small amount, you have to keep in mind that across three games, there really isn't any more that they can pull over to add to the total of "over 100 games" that already exist. 50 games in MP1, 65 in MP2, and 71 in MP3 might seem like a lot, but MP2 reused many games from MP1. Also, there are games that don't quite fit the current Mario Party structure (the 1-Player games and coin stealing games from MP1 come to mind).
It's never going to happen and the biggest reason why is because of data miners. Not saying they're wrong in doing it, but when you release a good chunk of your game to the public in the form of a demo, you can't possibly cut out enough of the game without revealing too much about it and still have it be functional without wasting an egregious amount of time. Yes, the floor demos are typically created for shows like E3, but they're usually just the current build of the game with kill screens built in. Not to mention the attendants, while there to help you through the game, also need to be ready to pull the plug in case something goes wrong.
At least when demos are released, they're close enough to the street date of the actual game for it to not matter what gets revealed.
Preordered 3D All-Stars right after it was announced, was promised it would arrive on release day, didn't come in until Monday, registered the game as soon as I could, but it wasn't marked off as complete until five hours after the codes went up, so I never even had a chance to begin with even though I did everything "right".
A bit odd how the overhauled music and sound effects got completely glossed over in this review. True, the original Mario 1 is very catchy and iconic and the All-Stars version doesn't quite meet the mark (still good, though), but I feel the sound work in Mario 2 and 3 is much more memorable in All-Stars than the originals.
Might be an unpopular opinion, but this just shows that the E3 events are made out of necessity and not from having actual things to announce.
EDIT: Might be a little harsh in saying this, what I mean is that Nintendo got a get out of jail free card with E3 being canceled if they're not planning on an event.
@nagash You commented on Brain Age on the DS, yet conveniently failed to mention that Rock, Paper, Scissors was a game in the original? It used the microphone, requiring you to speak your answer in rounds that asked you to win or lose. Here it looks like the same concept, except you use your hands and the IR sensor on the right Joycon. So yes, Rock, Paper, Scissors is brain training, just like it has been from the start.
@Octarian Where are you seeing four? There’s only one and it’s in Manhattan, and seeing as how you mentioned St. Louis, you should know that Kansas City is in Missouri, not Kansas.
@Skunkfish Smaller battery or not, Nintendo claims that the Lite has better battery life than the original. It has 3 to 7 hours of life compared to the original's 2.5 to 6.5. They also claim that Breath of the Wild will run for four hours on the Lite, whereas the original will run it for three.
@JaxonH @PikaPhantom Oh god, this is why I need to stop doing this so early in the morning. I didn’t even see the game in the list. In that case, it must’ve been at the media booth. But I didn’t see it there in passing. Strange. It was not one of the 12 games in the main booth, and I wouldn’t think Nintendo would limit it exclusively to a very small group (not even 5% percent of the attendees), but I guess they only wanted the press coverage?
@JaxonH To quote from a previous article, “To be eligible for nomination, games must be "hands-on playable" to voting publications for at least 5 minutes of gameplay at E3 2019.”
In which it was not. As someone who went to E3 this year, Fire Emblem was non-existent on the show floor.
Yeah, that makes sense. While playing the demo, I felt the game ran smoothest when I was in a cave or dungeon, while it had a couple issues outside in Mabe Village, especially while cutting grass. I’m not concerned at all about the finished product. I’m sure it’ll be polished nicely upon release.
Huh. I suppose it only makes sense, and Grezzo does do good work as we've seen before. And the demo did play very nicely from my experience with it (although I did not like being forced to move with control stick exclusively, we should be able to use the D-pad as well!).
And as for the Oracle games, I would like to see them eventually remastered at some point. It would be cool to see a third Oracle game to complete the original idea, especially since the link function would be far easier in concept, but the complexities of having three standalone games that change with link functions would get in the way I'd imagine. But then again, you could have Ages and Seasons link together and playable in any order, and have the third Oracle forced to be the last game, as a finale of sorts. So many possibilities.
@Trajan “Gone is the smooth, 360-degree analogue control, and instead, Link walks around on a grid, similar to the original game”
Makes it pretty clear what the writer was talking about. And even then, you’re still (mostly) wrong, because the overworld doesn’t have any screen transitions, as long as you stay outside. Only in caves and dungeons are there still rooms because you need the ability to walk out and back in to reset a puzzle.
@Razer I knew this was going to happen when I saw that wording, which is why I tried to explain it in an earlier comment. In short, it’s not grid based in that you move in a single tile motion. It’s that you’re limited to 8 directions, just like the original game.
@JMR_Alden You didn’t have 360 degree control in the original, you moved in eight directions, just like this. It’s not an “unfortunate addition”, it’s a straight carry-over. And Link does seem to move faster, but that could be aided by the fact that there are very minimal screen transitions.
@PikPi I’ll admit, the grid based analogy is not a good one, coming from someone who also tried the game. It doesn’t move like a grid at all, it’s that you’re limited to moving in 8 directions, just like the original game. You can start, stop, and turn all on a dime all the same.
A few minutes??? The power went out for just a second or two when I was in South Hall. The Nintendo booth is in West Hall, was it really out that long?
EDIT: Did a reread, they said that the television monitors and modems were down for a few minutes, which is technically true. Had to wait for everything to reboot, of course. The outage was only a second or so, barely enough time to register what even happened.
I think my biggest impression while trying this game out was exclaiming “They made the crane game harder!” after three attempts of getting the Yoshi doll and the demonstrator laughing in agreement.
Limited to the story mode? But there could be so much potential if this could be extended to the rest of the game. Imagine if, as the creator, you could designate certain course parts that would be accessible by the player any time they wanted. You could help them out with a couple extra power ups, or design setups for shortcuts that could be finished by the player if they were astute enough. Just a thought.
Makes me wonder what they've done to the game since E3 last year. I had the opportunity to try the game out there, and it was pretty functional. But it's probably a similar case to Splatoon, where only about 10% of the game was finished when it was shown off at its respective E3.
@LinkSword Because you’re cramming 16 times more storage into the same amount of space. It becomes increasingly, and non-linearly, more difficult as you increase the storage while keeping the same volume, therefore the price increases non-linearly as well.
@Joeynator3000 It was never said that this would be a Spring game. It has always been a 2019 release and it has never gotten a smaller window than that.

Bison: I'm sorry. I don't remember any of it.
Chun Li: You don't remember?
