Re: Guillemot Family And Tencent May Move Select Ubisoft Assets To New Venture

Viagro

@AgentGuapo I'm a therapist and honestly Nintendo are one of my main influences in my business. I never do free trials or offer discount bundles or any of that stuff - I offer something really good and people who value my work pay me. Sometimes I don't have as many clients as I'd like, but all the clients I have I absolutely love working with.

I'm glad I opted out of race-to-the-bottom pricing and purchasing a long time ago - it means I have less stuff but I'm happy and all my stuff and experiences are so much more valuable.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Isn't Really Thinking About Retiring

Viagro

What a beautiful man. He's really found his flow and been in it for decades! He seems so healthy.

Personally I don't believe in retirement - i think a Miyamoto approach of doing what you love and sharing your learning with others until the end is a pretty good one!

Life's too short to work a draining job and wait for retirement!

Re: SEGA & Tencent Have Also Decided To Skip This Year's E3

Viagro

@sportvater yeah it was like my Christmas Day in the early 2000s. Younger folk won't remember what it was like to be excited to get a VHS tape or DVD of the trailers after the fact. I remember watching the Smash Bros Melee opening video millions of times on what I think was an orange VHS tape?!

Re: Random: Shigeru Miyamoto Comments On What Nintendo Will Be Like Without Him

Viagro

I have a teacher called Gabor Maté who has a teacher called A.H. Almaas. Almaas talks a lot about "essence" and the holes that develop in us as we unconsciously respond to deficiencies in our culture - holes which we then try to cover up.

I'm realising more and more that I love and have always loved Nintendo because it is so much closer to its essence than most other game companies. It doesn't usually get corrupted by the culture and therefore doesn't develop the problematic holes that other companies have and are constantly trying to cover up.

Re: Poll: One Year After The DLC, Are You Still Playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Viagro

@Ralizah I completely agree. On day one of New Horizons I was like "Is that it?" when I first spoke to my locals, fully expecting I could keep smashing A and the weird and colourful quips would continue ad infinitum. I persevered with the game and assumed the dialogue would vary and increase with time or updates but, alas, that wasn't to be! It's really strange cuz the mobile game has loooooads of dialogue so I'm not sure what happened here. The genius of the dialogue in previous games is that you can skip through it quickly and those who want to read it can. 3DS or GC are still my favourite AC experiences.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Thinks The Switch Home Menu Is A "Piece Of Crap"

Viagro

It's hard to know how deliberate a design choice it is but I think Nintendo have done Switch right in terms of designing the UX so you can easily buy and play games and do nothing else.

I play a lot more games on my Switch precisely because I'm spending less time faffing about with themes and less time organising my collection into neat little folders.

Re: Jools Watsham Explains Why his Latest Game Didn't Release on Nintendo Platforms

Viagro

I was really 'into' Renegade Kid when Mudds first came out and I was hyped for Moon Chronicles and Xeodrifter and Treasurenauts but the games either haven't made it to Europe, came out but with very little marketing to encourage a purchase or haven't released at all.

To be honest, I feel the failed Kickstarter has something to do with their lack of success right now. I feel like that deflated them somewhat.

Re: Video: Nintendo Kindly Reminds Us That amiibo Exist With This Timely Festive Commercial

Viagro

@Mrclaycoat We can still say that - Nintendo still delays titles to ensure they are of a high quality (Xenoblade X, Star Fox, Zelda...)

It's true that they have released a few rushed games, presumably to fill gaps in their release calendar. I wish instead they'd release smaller, downloadable exclusives (not free-to-start) as they've done with Harmoknight, Dillon's Rolling Western, BOXBOY!, Pullblox, Hydroventure, Pocket Football Club, etc. - these games are at varied price points with varied play styles and can never be 'let downs' as rushed full price games can be.

Re: Satoru Iwata Insists Smart Device Game Pricing Won't "Hurt Nintendo’s Brand Image", Aims for "Several" Simultaneous Hits

Viagro

I hope this'll then keep F2P games like Pokémon Shuffle off the 'dedicated games consoles'. Shuffle is the first demo/game I've ever deleted from my 3DS - I don't like what it stands for and even seeing the icon irritated me!

As a 'dedicated gamer' I don't mind DLC and F2P on my console if it's in the form of Sub Wars or Iron Fall - but Pokémon Shuffle shouldn't have ever really made it to 3DS, it should have been better developed and launched on the Nintendo mobile platform.

Re: Review: Pokémon Shuffle (3DS eShop)

Viagro

I usually agree with reviews here but feel compelled to disagree.

This game is boring, unimaginative, arbitrary in many areas and it's incredibly repetitive in an un-fun way.

And I've played seven hours of the damned thing!

Re: Reaction: Pokémon Shuffle Isn't Quite Microtransaction Hell, But It's Getting There

Viagro

The decision to release this game is very un-Nintendo. But I'm not too worried as I see this purely as Nintendo checking a box for their investors and those desperate to see Ninty cloning successful mobile games.

I expect Nintendo to continue to develop strategies as seen with the release of Steel Diver: Sub Wars and IronFall: Invasion as they try to work out the best way to deliver free content while encouraging people to upgrade to paid - this seems a lot fairer and more 'Nintendo' to me...
