Re: Xbox Acknowledges Fan Requests For New Banjo-Kazooie Game

Ventilator

@FishyS As Phil have said multiple times. He won't force any developer to make games they are not passionate about. In fact he wants their developers to choose themselves what to make.
Several devs at Activision and Blizzard can soon make games they are passionate about again instead of recycling Call of Duty.

Rare don't have time for Banjo in near future, and Rare may not even be the right developer for a new Banjo.
Finding the right developer for Banjo isn't easy in house.

PlayTonic is probably the best bet for a new Banjo, but Microsoft would need to fund them.
PlayTonic may want to make a Banjo if MS offered it to them.

On top of Phil's wishlist is Hexen revival.
Since Microsoft now owns Raven, it's possible to get the original developer on to it if they want.

Re: Takaya Imamura Expresses His Love For F-Zero 99, Awaits 'Revival Of The IP'

Ventilator

@Captain_Toad Yes. The frame rate overall is stable.

I hope many tries this game, because Nintendo will see if there is enough interrest to make a new proper F-Zero.

If only 100.000 try it, Nintendo will probably never make a new F-Zero game ever again.

5% of Switch owners should be enough to judge the interrest.
Only 5% is over 5 million people...

Re: Batman Arkham Trilogy Swoops To Switch This Fall

Ventilator

@FlashmanHarry You that's a lie. If Switch had more power, then why does all the games look 1:1 with Wii U games? Unlike Switch, Wii U had even enough power for games on two screens. If you disabled second screen in Wii U games, it would have had more power than Switch.

Remember Switch is running on a video streaming chip designed for NVIDIA Shield TV in year 2014.

Re: Batman Arkham Trilogy Swoops To Switch This Fall

Ventilator

@WallyWest Wrong. Only people with potato PC's had issues.
The rest of us with gaming PC's and 16.GB RAM, proper GPU and CPU could complete it on release.
Only people with 8.GB RAM, weak CPU and weak GPU had problems.

Batman Arkham required 12-16.GB RAM, so you can imagine how it looks on Switch when scaled down to 3.GB RAM.

Re: Retro Studios Wasn't The Only Dev Working On Metroid Prime Remastered

Ventilator

@Wexter Good point on the other post.

Since they had to scrap Metroid Prime 4 once, they probably needed more people who understand Metroid to make MP 4.
Doing a Metroid Prime remaster gives a good insight at how Metroid should be.
When they make new textures for the whole game, they are also forced to see everything in the game.

Re: Retro Studios Wasn't The Only Dev Working On Metroid Prime Remastered

Ventilator

@Wexter Yeah. It were different times back then and the mega budgets on AAA games today made companies looking more at the costs. Many expensive games failed on sales in general.

Skyward Sword price vs Metroid Prime doesn't make sense.
There is years of work behind Metroid Prime, while a few months at best on Skyward Sword. And yet Metroid Prime costs 20$ less.
I heard Skyward Sword sales were bad, and could be why they dropped the price on Metroid.

The video comparisons of Prime shows the difference good, but the difference is even bigger if you ran it on 2 TV's at the same place. 480p vs 1080p with new textures on top of it.

YouTube also have highly compressed videos, so colors won't be as good as running it natively on TV.

Anyways. I bought Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii U on sale on eShop for only 8$. Yes, Nintendo sold it this cheap digitally on sale. Full price were 20$ i think. It were just a straight Wii port at 480p or 576p even when they could have ran at 1080p on Wii U.
20$ for all 3 explains why they did nothing with the releases. If they upgraded the games, they would have costed triple.

Prices in general were low on 1st party Nintendo games on Wii U, because they wanted to push more consoles.

Re: Video: GoldenEye 007 Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch & Xbox)

Ventilator

@Banjo- Yes, sequels were included as you say on these other games. I own all of these collections you mention, but i only played Halo MCC so far.

It's 100% correct what you say about the Switch upgrades from Wii U. Replacing 3-4 rows of icons and folders with 5 huge icons is another improved feature.

10" Tablets always had long battery time even with their powerful hardware today and perhaps even more power than Switch, so why are the battery time so terrible on both Steam Deck and Switch?
Even tablets as flat as a paper lasts over 10 hours. Where is the room for that kind of battery?

I have no problems with some noise from a console, but Sony consoles is just too insane and annoying.
PS3 could be noisy sometimes, but as much as PS4.

Fun fact: PS VITA Handheld have way more responsive system menus than PS4.
VITA is the slickest Sony console ever made.

Re: Video: GoldenEye 007 Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch & Xbox)

Ventilator

@Banjo- Yeah. It's weird PS4/PS5 can't read a simple thing as a Music CD.
When i played Wolfenstein 2 on PS4, i were waiting for the console to fly out of the window as it sounded like Afterburner were enabled. lol

I agree that Switch is the worst. It also isn't that much more than a 1080p version of GameCube. Nintendo uses old tech, so they can keep earning money on consoles.
I also don't like to have games on multiple SD cards.
Should have been HDD support. They didn't add it, because a lot of people would take out Switch from dock while running a game from HDD.
They could have had it as a hidden setting, so only people with a clue could use it.

I checked today and i paid only 8$ for Metroid Prime Trilogy on sale on Eshop. That's not much.

When it comes to the new Metroid Prime remaster. It's not a sloppy effort since it have new textures everywhere and other improvements. Could have been worse than 40$.
They probably spent a long time upgrading the graphics and is why it's not the whole trilogy.

Nintendo cloud is a joke. They have free demo of it.
Nintendo charges 60$ for "unplayable" Cloud games.

First of all it's streaming quality is poor, and top of poor frame rate. I tried Hitman III. It were unplayable for me.
i wonder who pays 60$ to play play these "10 FPS" Switch games with grainy over compressed streaming?

Nintendo cloud should have been part of Expansion due to the poor quality.

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 For The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Ventilator

@Sunsy Game prices haven't changed much in 30 years, so i don't see the problem with price increase especially now when everything else have increased in price last year.

And besides. This is the digital price and you will get it cheaper physical.
Physical is always cheaper than digital, otherwise local stores would refuse to sell them.

Re: Video: GoldenEye 007 Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch & Xbox)

Ventilator

@Banjo- There was one console where neither Nintendo or Sony ripped off people, and that's only because they were on last place.
On PS3 in the beginning you could buy one game, and let 4 friends install them for free. Cross-purchase were a big thing on PS3 vs VITA. In fact a handful of retail games had VITA version included for free. The discs had a unique number, so free VITA redeem only worked one time. Sony released 10's of 30$ games on PS3. They did an extra effort on other things too.

And Wii U. 10% or was it 20% cash back first 2 years on digital purchases?
If you bought Mario Kart 8 at launch, you could select one of 10 games for free. I chosed Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
Then you had many Wii U releases including figurines, and even then they only charged 50-55 bucks. Games like Donkey Kong Tropical, Captain Toad etc. costed around 30 bucks on release.
Gold coins had higher value.

Wii U console itself supported 2 external HDD's at the same time. It were backwards compatible with Wii games and also controllers. Wii U Pro Gamepad battery lasted up to 80 hours on one charge.
Mario Kart 8 could upload replays directly to YouTube from the game. There is other things too.

I remember they stripped Zelda BOTW on Switch, so it couldn't be a better version than on Switch.
Funny thing is that frame rate were better on Wii U than Switch on release.
Wii U, N64, GameCube, SNES etc. were overall better than Switch.
Sure Switch were the most powerful handheld ever until Aya Neo, Steam Deck etc. came and could run newest PC games natively. The only reason why they still bother with ports of big games to Switch, is only because it sold 120 millions or something.

Nintendo and new console will have a problem vs pricing etc.
Should it have Series X power, or should it be a handheld on par with PC handhelds?
Steam Deck still have no competitor, because there is no money in clones at 400$. Valve relies entirely on more sales on Steam instead.
Asus, Lenovo etc. have no store to earn money on, and is why they are waiting until they can earn money on hardware.

Sony have storage limit on cloud saves even when it costs money. I never heard about a limit at Nintendo. Xbox never had a limit for free.
Xbox also have a bunch of online only games which works even if you don't pay for Xbox Live.

Wii U had free online. PS3 had free online only the first year or two or so until Sony figured out how to charge people for online.

Series X had free upgrades since launch, but Sony charged full price for same upgrades as you said.

Xbox Series S costed as low as 280$ or so.
Series S + Game Pass is the best deal ever in console gaming vs price.
Series X is a lot more powerful and also supports 4K UHD discs and game discs of course. It also have 500.GB of more internal SSD. You can run Xbox One games from external HDD on both Series S and X, but Series S and X requires SSD.
External Xbox One HDD's is only account locked, which means you can connect it to any console you want as long as you login with same account used to install on HDD.
Switch is a Clustef*** when it comes to have games on a second Switch. Not user friendly at all.

PS4 external HDD is a joke. It fails sometimes and you need to use repair function every time.
In fact games will be gone from from PS4 library too, so you have to repair your account too.
Since when did you need to use repair on storage and accounts on Xbox and Nintendo consoles? Never.

Nintendo is as terrible as Sony on this.
If you took out HDD on Wii U while powered on, console crashed. Same happens on PS4 and maybe PS5 too.

Xbox 360, Xbox One and Series X all supports hot swap of HDD while consoles is running.

Xbox, PC and Steam Deck is indeed the only systems which gives value for money, and where you never feel ripped off.

I'm 100% done with Sony, and time will tell if i buy a future Nintendo console.
PS5 and PS4 is not really needed anymore since Sony ports exclusives left and right to PC.

Gotta admit that Sony's PC ports is very good and they add PC features PS5 can't handle. 21:9 Ultra Wide, Full Ray Tracing and probably other things.
Perhaps Sony do more effort on PC ports than PS3/PS4 ports to PS5.
