Re: Digital Foundry Gives Its Assessment Of Cloud Gaming On Switch

@Specter_of-the_OLED
Line cap were declared 100% illegal in my country back in 1990's, because with line cap you don't get what you pay for.

How can unlimited data affect price for cloud streaming?

I have 520/520 fiber line.
I can use line 100% 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
I can download 1 million Terrabytes, and it won't cost anything more.
If i played cloud games all day every day of the year, it would add 0% to the price.

Re: Ubisoft: Players "Don't Get" What Makes NFTs So Beneficial

Ventilator

@ModdedInkling GameStop makes sense, but NFT never will in near future.

I know one thing. UBI's game sales with NFT will tank.
It's irrevelevant if NFT is optional or not. Majority refuses to support any game having NFT as an option.

UBI clearly never read about all the flaws and bottlenecks with NFT.

@Greatluigi
"From what I have seen, it does NOT WORK well on hardware like Switch where the wi fi is kinda crappy."

NVIDIA Shield TV from year 2015 streams 4K/60 better than on Switch with same processor.
The bottleneck is the Switch software and server performance, not the Switch hardware.
You can stream better than Switch on weaker hardware. Like i said, it's software and server issues.

I have the best conditions possible for Cloud on Switch.
520/520 Fiber line and Wired LAN.

Even then Control and Hitman 3 streaming sucks.
I only tried the demos, but the stream is the same.

Even if stream were proper, the games is still not worth 60$ each.

Hitman 3 + Control costs 120$ on Switch.

Both games is in Game Pass. If you pay 1$ you can complete both games within 30 days on Game Pass.
That 1$ also includes 100's of other games. 2nd month costs 12$ which is the normal price. Still 1000 times the value of Switch Cloud.
Just shows how wrong price cloud on Switch is.

Re: Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard, Now Owns Call Of Duty And Crash Bandicoot

@Scrubicius Sony hardware like TV's etc. is still not quality, and even releases without announced features. They are also very slow at fixing problems, if they ever do it in the first place.
I remember a dude that bought a expensive Sony 3D TV many years ago, but the 3D never worked. The Sony support had the balls to tell him that they had no plans to fix in a firmware upgrade on a brand new 2000$ TV.

Toshiba and Yamaha is way more reliable, and they support things for a long time. Panasonic is great too thinking of it.

I pay permanently for Game Pass, so it suits me better that Microsoft buy companies as their games will be added to the sub. It's never been as cheap to play new games as now.

Re: Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard, Now Owns Call Of Duty And Crash Bandicoot

Ventilator

@Scrubicius Yeah. I think it's better if Americans dominate than China. In fact most of these are Studios are from USA already.

Snagged from Wiki.
"Tencent started inn Cayman, but is Chinese nowadays.
Tencent Holdings Ltd., also known as Tencent (腾讯), is a Chinese multinational technology and entertainment conglomerate and holding company headquartered in Shenzhen"

Amazon can afford anything, but they are slow at buying any gaming company. It's probably years ago last time.
MGM the movie company seem to be most interesting for them now. Haven't been news about that for a long time.

Re: Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard, Now Owns Call Of Duty And Crash Bandicoot

@UltimateOtaku91 You are not forced to use gamepad on phones.
Microsoft is having a team that spend a lot of time making as good touch controls as possible. Every game gets their own touch setup due to different controls.

I don't like touch controls, but there is millions of people who even play online FPS with touch controls on phones.
Like you, i would never play a FPS on a small screen.
Touch controls is too unreliable unless it's for a puzzle game.

As for reliable internet. Android phones and Tablets supported wired LAN for nearly 10 years. Android even supports LAN Adapters made for Wii, Wii U and Switch.

Majority of Game Pass today is on PC and Xbox, because majority of mass market have no clue about what Game Pass is..Yet. In fact not even most PC, Nintendo and Sony users know that it is.
When XCloud is out of beta, Microsoft will probably have TV adverts and whatever for Game Pass to show people what it is.

Re: Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard, Now Owns Call Of Duty And Crash Bandicoot

Ventilator

@UltimateOtaku91 Sony can't even afford to buy companies like Zenimax and Activision and is why they have to stick with smaller developers instead.

"huge third party devs to take games away from millions of players full stop"

I guess you don't know how Game Pass works at all.
Game Pass is a multiplatform sub.

Game Pass is already available on billions of phones alone.
Everyone with a phone and tablet on the planet can play Xbox games right now if they want.

The 5 systems supported so far. Xbox, PC, Web, Android and IOS/Apple.
Those 5 systems combined have a possible market for 1 billion as of today.

Re: Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard, Now Owns Call Of Duty And Crash Bandicoot

Ventilator

@NIN10DOXD Why? Microsoft have released a bunch of games on Switch, but only Minecraft on Sony consoles.

And besides. Some Activision games will still be multiplatform, but probably timed exclusive on Xbox, PC, XCloud, Android and Apple first.

Game Pass exists on 5 systems.
Xbox, PC, XCloud, Android and Apple.
When they release the Xbox dongle, everyone can play Xbox games directly on TV.

It's not like Game Pass is Xbox exclusive.
1 Billion can get Game Pass right now if they want.

Re: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Is The Next Free Trial For Nintendo Switch Online (North America)

Ventilator

@BlubberWhale Yeah. A great deal i can't get...yet. lol
The HDD worked fine for years, but forgot to ever turn it off.
After 4-5 years whiles powered 24/7/365 it died.
I were dumb enough to move some saves to HDD from internal flash. Also. I forgot to sector copy whole Wii U HDD on PC to keep 1:1 backup.

Not all resolution jumps is great from Wii U.
Pikmin 3 at 720p looks a lot better on Wii U than 1080p on Switch.
This because AMD back then didn't have 1:1 same color palette style as NVIDIA.
Converting AMD colors to NVIDIA didn't work well as shown on Switch. If Switch port were proper, they would have changed all colors to fit Wii U version on Switch.
This is why Switch version is more colorful.

Anyways. Long live Toad..The pessimistic Nintendo character. lol

Re: Konami Sold This Castlevania Pixel Art For Over $26K In Its 'Memorial' NFT Auction

Ventilator

@ArtiomNLS Exactly. It's worthless unless it's a physical painting.
Id you buy digital art, you don't own it since others can copy it for free.
Secondly this 26.000$ art is worthless already as people already downloaded it for free.
Loss of value in only 1 day is one of the main flaws with NFT.

NFT have a list of other flaws too.

Konami were already very greedy. Their money sucking Pachinko machines.

Re: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Is The Next Free Trial For Nintendo Switch Online (North America)

Ventilator

@BlubberWhale Yeah. It were one of my top Nintendo games the last decade.
A countrywide store chain here (Obs!) have recently sold 3 physical Switch games for 40 bucks, 2 times last 3 months.
Titles included Captain Toad, Yoshi's Wooly World and 5-10 other titles to choose from. The problem is that they are always sold out before i get there. Hopefully they will have the same deal again.
On Wii U i only paid 30 bucks for it on release day.
Switch version costs 55 bucks here i think. Nintendo and their overpricing of old Wii U games.

I used Toad as my channel Avatar on YouTube gaming channel for years. Toad, Ice Climbers and Waluigi is my top 3 Nintendo characters. Ice Climbers is most special to me.

The only Wii U game i bought again on Switch is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Switch version is sadly missing Wii U DLC like Mercedes Kart among other things, and is also missing YouTube TV replay.
Bought it a second time for several reasons.

  • Mario Kart 8 is one of the best online games
  • 1080p/60 instead of 720p/60
  • All Levels unlocked from the start.
  • I use external HDD on Wii U for games, and previous one with MK 8 save were lost when HDD broke.

Re: Review: Pinchcliffe Grand Prix - Surprisingly Charming Licensed Kart Racing

Ventilator

@WoomyNNYes Yeah. I agree with most reviews, and in fact i don't use any other site for Nintendo.
My main gaming is on PC, then Switch, then Xbox One X and then PS4. Far too many games..Especially with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate too.

Splatoon were great on Wii U, but i don't think they put enough effort into Splatoon 2 on Switch. I don't have high hopes for Splatoon 3 for that reason.
I will buy Pinchcliffe on both PC and Switch, when the sale price is right.

The movie itself never gets boring. I bought the remastered Blu-Ray with DTS-HD 5.1 sound when it released in 2013.
Second disc have several hours of extra stuff. Pack also came with 5 real clips of the original 1975 cinema reel.
It were a limited edition released in Norway only, and were out of print for years.

Re: One Of The Rarest SNES Games Ever Is Making A Comeback

Ventilator

@The-Nate Cool, so #2 is coming soon.

Looks like they did some extra effort by adding the old CD Tracks with Turrican studio remakes etc. too.

Anyways. When they work for Epic, i guess they don't have time to make anything new anymore.
They were specialists at pushing Nintendo consoles several times. They even designed the sound chip in GameCube.
