Re: Talking Point: Are Nintendo's Exclusives Enough To Win A Next-Gen Handheld War?

Ventilator

Why are Nintendo Life again living below a rock?

There is no such thing as Next-Gen war for Switch.
If a such war existed, Switch would have sold less than Wii U by now.
I find it hard to believe that "Nintendo Life" believe Switch sells because of it's outdated hardware power.

  • That Razer Handheld is not much more than a Android phone.
  • Steam Deck is not a Switch competitor. It's for hardcore PC gamers who already have 1000's of games on STEAM.
Means it will sell 10 millions at most.
Valve expect it to only sell a few millions.

Re: Phil Spencer: Elder Scrolls 6's Xbox Exclusivity Isn't About "Punishing" Other Platforms

@Pod Switch isn't a competitor to anything.
Upcoming Steam Deck won't be a competitor to Switch either.
Way different market. Steam Deck is aimed at hardcore PC gamers who already have up to 1000's of games on Steam.
In fact Valve themselves said they were lucky if it sold only a few millions, or 10 millions at best.

When that's said. Switch is popular among PC gamers.
PC + Switch is a combo for lots of people. You can see them everywhere on Steam forums.

There is also a lot of PC people using Steam forums who ask about Switch versions of games, also to the developers.

Re: Epic Games Acquires Harmonix, Makers Of Rock Band, To Work On Fortnite

Ventilator

@Fiskern They had a break for a few years after their PS3 failure, and then they came back. Later Epic bought them.
Epic wouldn't need their talent if they were dead.
But yes, they were kind of dead for years.

Last thing they did in 2021, were by releasing the overpriced Turrican games part 1.
Probably sold so bad they they delayed part 2 which should have been released already.
80 bucks in total for only 8 Turrican games with no upgrades.

At the same time Capcom released 32 arcade games for only 40 bucks.
Factor 5 really messed up the pricing.

@Pod Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo during GameCube days, but ended up with Rare.
Nintendo is the reason why MS never released a handheld. Like they said like 10 years ago. Nintendo dominated handhelds for 30 years, and almost no one were ever able to compete with them.
Anyways. Microsoft have released only Minecraft on PS4 i think, while they released like 10-15 games on Switch.
MS Games sells quite well on Switch too. Most of them were on top 10.
Switch is basically Microsoft's handheld. lol

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Calls For Industry-Wide Support Of Game Preservation Via Emulation

Ventilator

@K1LLEGAL Kameo Elements of Power in 4K/60 looks very good. That old 2005 game still doesn't look dated.

I also own all DLC in Horizon games and most DLC for Forza, and VIP for all of them. I have 100% of the games digitally too including the Fast & Furious one. I got 1000G in that one.

Lego Speed Champions DLC is still for sale, but Forza Horizon 3 and DLC is probably delisted.
There is over 10 Forza games now, and probably why they won't have all of them available anymore.

Still sucks that Forza 4 didn't get a 4K/60 upgrade.
Forza 4 on 360 looks amazing even in 2021.
Ace Combat 6 on 360 still looks better than many new games which is weird considering it were released in 2006.

Anyways. Forza Hub will sadly be be discontinued summer 2022. I'm getting 350.000 weekly there.
Playground said the app were too clunky, and is why they don't wanna add Forza Horizon 5.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Calls For Industry-Wide Support Of Game Preservation Via Emulation

Ventilator

@El_Syd There is no emulator for backwards on Xbox One.

They have to manually hack every damn game, and it's different for each game.
This is why you have to redownload games again, as disc versions is useless due to lack of game emulation.
Since emulator isn't used on Xbox, Microsoft have to license every game they hack for backwards.
Why do you think they had to add games in bulks? Exactly.

If they used a emulator, 100% of old games would be supported, and they wouldn't need to license anything.

Anyways.
There is 2 emulators that runs commercial Switch games properly on PC, and Nintendo can't prevent it as the emulators is 100% legal and free.

Re: Nintendo Celebrates Zelda Game & Watch Launch With A New Super Mario Maker 2 Ninji Speedrun Course

Ventilator

@E_Gadds_Garage No problem. I understand then.
Yeah, it's too similar to the first and is why no one bothered.

On Wii U version you had Miiverse with 1000's of levels posted, Amiibo support to unlock around 130 more in game characters to use on own levels and you could download all event levels to keep forever. Wii U version also came in a box including a Mario Maker book at to compensate for a lower value game priced at 55 bucks or so.
Wii U version also had a online web site where you could browse levels and add them as favourites to play on Wii U later.
There is quite some great features missing on Switch.

As we know, Event levels can't be downloaded to be kept on Switch.
When Wii U MM servers closed in 2021, none of the levels were moved to MM 2. Huge mistake as Wii U had lots of legendary levels that got media attention.
I remember "Slopes" were probably #1 requested feature on Wii U, but Nintendo didn't put it in so they could have a selling point for MM 2 on Switch. Bad move.

Mario Kart 8.. Nintendo removed the replay editor and YouTube support on Switch version.
Wii U version also recorded highlights when you played.

You know of Little Big Planet on Sony consoles.
They shutted down servers for 1 & 2. Millions of levels would be lost...But they weren't after all.
Sony moved all the millions of levels to LB 3 instead. Means all levels from 3 games in one game. Smart move.
LBP 3 even exist on PS3, so nothing were lost for anyone.

Both LBP and Dreams on Sony consoles also have web sites for more comfortable browsing, like Wii U had for MM.

Re: Nintendo Celebrates Zelda Game & Watch Launch With A New Super Mario Maker 2 Ninji Speedrun Course

Ventilator

@E_Gadds_Garage What are you talking about? Mario Maker reached it heights on Wii U bigtime.
Wii U version got media attention for a long time.
Loads of random developers also made levels on Wii U, and Nintendo themselves released tons of Event levels for it with new character unlocks etc.

Remember Switch version is only Wii U version with some new additions, and also have some downgrades.

Nothing to hype on Switch at all. It's a been there, done that Wii U game before Switch launched.
There is a saying. "You don't laugh at the same joke twice".

Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword On Switch Has Already Matched Its Lifetime Wii Sales

Ventilator

@syrupdash I have HD ports of both of these Zelda's on Wii U.
Both is big boxed Collector's Editions with Amiibo's and figurines.

The Legend of Zelda - Wind Waker HD 1080p were released in 2013, 8 years ago.
The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess HD 1080p were released in early 2016, soon 6 years ago.

Nintendo used to bundle Amiibo's and figurines with their Wii U games.

If people bought Wii U, they wouldn't need to beg for 1080p versions of games up to nearly 10 years later after they released. hehe

Re: Tetris 99 Is Hosting A Metroid Dread Crossover Event This Weekend

Ventilator

I said 2 weeks ago that Metroid theme would arrive quickly. Nintendo is so predictable sometimes.

I have 100% of all Tetris 99 themes so far, so i sadly have bore me through 100 points to get this one too.
Tetris 99 is great, but i'm so damn bored of it.

The only way to get 100 points in one run is to became #1 player.

Re: Can't Find Dying Light On The Switch eShop? It Might Be Because It's Currently Banned In Germany

Ventilator

@Piyo Thats not correct. I went to eShop right now and Wolfenstein 2 which have 18 year rating shows up for purchase.

The question is. Why are Wolfenstein 2 allowed and not Dying Light? Shouldn't it be the opposite in Germany?

As for advertising for games with 18 year rating.
I get official news mail from Nintendo which sometimes includes games rated for 18 year olds.
It's not like Nintendo ignore these games.
