Re: Feature: Hands-On UK Fanzine HyperPlay's Third Issue

Utena-mobile

@Cantisque lol. I wasn't going to say anything but you made it too easy:

"Fake Anime Style!" Watchoo talkin' about!!?!

btw, just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else doesn't. I'm not a fan of the "tumblr" art style but why should that matter when tons of other people enjoy making it and looking at it. (o_O )

Re: Tomonobu Itagaki on Why Devil's Third Underperformed

Utena-mobile

I think it was both. It was an under-developed game with a lot of bad design choices.

but Nintendo left it out to dry. They could have stepped in and helped in tons of ways, even if it was just in a supervisory manner (like with Bayonetta 2). But they didn't and it was worse for it because of that.

Also, NoA totally did not care about this game at all. I bet they didn't even want to release it.

Re: Soapbox: Captain Falcon, We Have A Problem With F-Zero X on Wii U

Utena-mobile

@KoopaTheGamer There are plenty of complaints around the internet, they're not that hard to find. Personally, I have no problem with SNES and GBA games. I think they look great, and I love the GBA smoothing option.

But I'm not sure what happened with N64. I have 2, Mario and Ocarina of Time, and they are both extremely washed out, with dull colors and bad contrast. And it's not my tv, because they look fine when I play the games in Wii Mode. So yeah, N64 roms are pretty trashy garbage on the Wii U's VC.

*edit: Also, Wii VC games don't have anti-aliasing (is that what it's called? I'm not sure) to smooth out the jagged edges. They look terrible. Play RE4 on VC and then play RE4 on PS3 to see what could have been. (o_O ) But nope.

Re: Talking Point: Imagining a Future Nintendo Switch Budget Spin-Off - A Non-Switching Microconsole

Utena-mobile

@capitalism No one said anything about the PS2 being a secondary console because the PS2 was getting all of the 3rd party support.

btw, I may not have been gaming as long as you have, but I would say I'm pretty hardcore. And the same goes for all of my gaming friends. AND every single one of my gaming friends owns multiple consoles. Only one doesn't but she's pretty much a Master PC gamer. lol. Heck, between my Sister and I, we own almost every single console since the Super Nintendo.

My point being, my experience with consoles is anecdotal and so is yours, but yes, the Wii and Wii U, for most "hardcore" gamers, is generally considered the "second" console.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Switch Isn't Physically Backwards Compatible With 3DS And Wii U Software

Utena-mobile

hmmm... well, I knew it wasn't going to be BC with Wii U (no disc drive, even in the rumors) but I was kind of hoping for 3ds support. Oh well. What I'm really wondering is if we're going to have to buy all of our VC games again or if it will do that thing where if you own it, you can buy the updated version at a huge discount.

Now region-locking is something that I AM curious about.

Re: Xbox Bosses Praise The "Bold Vision" Of Nintendo Switch

Utena-mobile

I bet Phil Spencer is breathing a sigh of relief. It could be that the NSwitch does better than expecting and shifts the focus of console development towards innovation rather than power. Which is probably what Phil Spencer is hoping for because I can't imagine either MS or Sony are happy with trying to fight PC for better specs.

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th October (North America)

Utena-mobile

hmmm... I want Fairune but I've never been more hesitant to buy a digital game as I am now. I had a pretty good experience transferring my purchases from my PSP to my PS TV, but PS4 still doesn't have PS1 support nor the PS2 games I bought on my PS3.

With Nintendo not saying if our games will transfer over or if there's any backwards compatibility, may it would be better to just hold off on my purchases until the Switch? Hmmmmm...

Re: Feature: NES Mini Classics - Castlevania

Utena-mobile

@samuelvictor lol. I always assumed it was because the monster was the "son" of Frankenstein, and if your dad's last name is Frankenstein then wouldn't your last name also be Frankenstein?

Outside of a divorce or something, of course.

Re: Fairune 2 Releases in North America on 20th October

Utena-mobile

Oh, nice!! I really liked the first one. It made me feel nostalgic for an era of games I know almost nothing about. Like, Zelda, for example. I heard so much about it and had read about it before I got to play it. In my mind it was this magical game with a desolate world, lots of mysterious temples, and a princess you had to save. I imagined it a lot like Fairune.

Instead it turned out to be much more harder and well, I'll just say the NES has a lot of limitations. Fairune is the Zelda and Final Fantasy games I always thought they were.

Re: Koji Igarashi on the Wii U Port of Bloodstained

Utena-mobile

last comment!!

also, while it sucks, everyone who was hoping for a Wii U version should at least get the code for the Steam version. Steam is free and you'll be able to play the game. Not the best solution, but at least it's a solution.

Sorry. (o_O )

Re: Review: Super Castlevania IV (3DS eShop / SNES)

Utena-mobile

@impurekind Yeah, I'm with you. Snes and Nes Castlevania games just frustrate me. But if you like Symphony of the Night I would recommend Aria of Sorrow (also on Wii U) and Order of Eclesia (on DS). I think those 3 are the best Castlevania games out there (and coincidentally, the only ones I've beaten).

Re: Poll: Six Months On - How Do You Feel About My Nintendo?

Utena-mobile

I guess I can't complain too much (since I did get Zelda Picross and that's a fun game) but I'm going to complain. Besides a theme and Picross there's been nothing on My Nintendo since that I've found worth spending my points on. Unless I play miitomo, but I don't.

wish there were more themes or dlc content etc. (T_T )

Re: SM64: Last Impact is a Hugely Ambitious Super Mario 64 Fan Mod

Utena-mobile

@Ninten-san Last time Nintendolife reported on a fan game (AM2R) there were a ton of readers who got angry and blamed Nintendolife of supporting copyright infringement (among other things).

Nintendolife isn't "afraid" of anything, but I'm sure they don't want to spend the next couple of days having to defend their journalistic interests from armchair lawyers.

so for everyone angry at Nintendolife, Kotaku did it first.

Re: The Xbox One Now Has A Nintendo 64 Emulator

Utena-mobile

@mikegamer thank god, I thought I was the only one. The color issues alone are bad enough. It's frustrating because you can go into Wii mode and play N64 games you've purchased there and everything looks so clean and crisp compared to the Wii U version.

Re: Talking Point: The Pros and Cons of Nintendo's NX Secrecy

Utena-mobile

It is a bit annoying, but my expectations are tempered by Nintendo of America. I'm ok with waiting for the NX for as long as they want to wait, but if Nintendo suddenly came out and said that the console will be region free, and that our purchases will be tied to our account and not our console? My anticipation will shoot through the roof, making March seem an eternity away.

But until then, I'm fine and not losing sleep over this.
