this is it? I'm so glad I got a PS4 for Christmas. I'm more than ready to move to Sony's camp. I'm pretty sure I'm done with Nintendo after the Wii U unless one of 2 things happen. 1) NoA starts taking notes from NoJ and NoE, or 2) we get a region free console.
Otherwise Zelda Wii U and Zelda TP will be my last Nintendo games.
@TruenoGT oh, launch games. uhm.... uh.... yeah. I guess I'm with you too. I don't even bother buying consoles at launch because they're rarely worth the asking price and they have so few games. I take it all back. (T-T )
@TruenoGT wow, you're old. you need to rediscover your child-like wonder!!! There are tons of games (last gen) that can wow you with their presentation! This gen? uhm... well... Rise of the Tomb Raider? maybe? (o_O ) *sigh
@Nicolai That's ok. I'll fill the "Naughty Fangirl" position for you. Bwahahahahaha. Now I'm off to cement my naughtiness by posting a bunch of inappropriate pictures on miiverse.
I just noticed how the article ended, and I would like to give my opinion on the question. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeck NO!!!! I want the west to stay far far away from making a Zelda game. I saw what they did to Silent Hill, and I have no desire to see Zelda end up a Skyrim clone.
This is really good. but why does Link look so ugly? There are plenty of hot, good looking western men, but the artist doesn't use any of them as reference? Heck, he could have gone to any of the elves on Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit. But I guess, like the last "western" picture of Link, this is really mostly what we find pleasing and what we don't. He's a really, insanely good artist, and I could never get close to what he can do in a million years.
@kyuubikid213 !! Hey!! I sometimes watch your youtube channel!!
@Artwark you know, I kind of get where you're coming from. I love the original 4 Silent Hill games but Konami seems to be doing their best to get me to hate them. Crappy treatment of Kojima, cancellation of Silent Hills, and just general bad treatment for Silent Hill in general since Team Silent ended. So I totally get where that anger comes from. That being said, Japan is in the beginning of another recession at the moment. So a company like Sega going under is very, very bad news for everyone involved.
I've never noticed NES games on Wii U to be that bad. I'm wondering if maybe the comparison picture exaggerates a little bit.
But 64 games on Wii U look terrible. Way too dark, with washed out colors. I thought it was my imagination but comparing Ocarina of Time on Wii U VC and Wii VC, Wii wins every time (except for the rumble feature). Wii U's VC is a huge disappointment.
yes! she's here to stay. btw, I refuse to call Linkelle Linkle, because Linkle is just all sorts of bad for a name. Anyword on if Linkelle will be dlc for the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors or will the Wii U get an updated version with Linkelle as a physical disc?
I'm pretty sure Linkle is just a mistranslation and her name is supposed to be Linkelle. Linkelle not only sounds better, it looks better, and works as a girl's name.
btw, I'm going to pre-order this game first thing tomorrow. (^_^ )/
@TwilightAngel I'm not seeing the connection between shooter dudebros and playstation 4 owners. I bet if you ran the numbers with Japanese games that are also on the Xbone you will get higher sales on PS4 as well. oh, and most likely we would see the same thing with all games that are on both consoles (adventure, horror, rpg etc).
No release in the U.S.? Uuuuuuuuuuugh! You suck NOA. This is seriously my last Nintendo handheld/ console unless we get region-free systems next gen. This is so annoying.
@kenrulei I know. I have the OoT and MM manga, and also the LttP graphic novel. And I think Nintendo is doing a good job with giving characters personality without dialogue. It's why we all have a picture in our mind of how Mario, Samus, and yes, different versions of Link and Zelda should be.
But I was making a comment that this is how it should be, even with Linkelle added to the picture and that Linkelle isn't nor should she be just a gender-swap with Link. It's why I wouldn't support a gender-choice for a main Zelda game. Because I don't believe Link and Zelda are blank slates, no matter what Nintendo claims they are.
@kenrulei Which is the real Samus? you can pick your favorite game, but there's only one Samus, and yes, that includes Metroid: Other M's Samus. She's one woman and she has accomplished all of the things that is in all of her games. The same goes with Mario. There's only one Mario and he's the star of every Mario game. Can you say the same thing about Link and Zelda? I would say that the main Link and Zelda are Ocarina of Time's Link and Zelda, only because so many games reference Ocarina of Time. But there are tons of Links. And the story even implies that during some of the bad events where Hyrule was waiting for a Link to show up, none did. So who's to say there can't be Linkelle, who stepped up to the plate during one of those events?
But that's beside the point. Nintendo needs to make Zelda a main character because she's already an established character with a history. And that being said, I don't want a gender swap option. @Jaco said it perfectly. A gender swap is just a cop-out, but a story built around a female hero is awesome because it means the hero isn't just some blank slate. Nintendo needs to step away from blank slate characters. All video game developers need to step away from blank slate characters, especially if they want video game stories to become more sophisticated.
@Ralizah
right? (^_^ )/
Dark Souls has more in common with the first Zelda game than Skyward Sword has in common with the first Zelda game. The only problem I have in Dark Souls (besides the crappy ending) is that your character is kind of boring. She doesn't have a personality or really interacts with anyone, so I have to pretend or make up everything for her (her history, how she acts, her motives, and how she responds). I would rather see a more fleshed out character, and I hope Nintendo keeps on polishing the characters of Link, Zelda, and Linkelle (if she's part of the story now) rather then staying with this "blank-slate" approach.
@Ralizah I think I would cry if that happened. But I've already moved on. I played the first Zelda game a while ago and it was terrible. too old, and too hard. But it does have a modern day equivalent to it. Dark Souls!!! I always name my Dark Souls character Zelda. So if Nintendo refuses to give me a Zelda game, then I'll get my Zelda fix somewhere else.
Please, Nintendo, don't screw up Linkelle. That's all I ask of you (also, stop making Link a blank slate. He deserves more of a personality. oh, and get rid of the timeline. it doesn't work).
@Technosphile Nintendo is not Puritan. Nintendo is a Japanese Co. that has a boob slider in Xenoblade Chronicles X, and sexy costumes in the M-rated Fatal Frame.
Nintendo of America on the other hand thinks Nintendo is a kiddie system and they're more than willing to take out these things and pretend that the first Xenoblade Chronicles, Pandora's Tower and Last Story have no place in the U.S. They would probably be happy with only Mario games if they could get away with it.
I would love a female Link (Linkelle) and think she's great for Hyrule Warriors but I want Nintendo to do several things before they consider Linkelle for a main Zelda title.
1) They need to get their story straight on what they want to do with Link/ Zelda. Are they just players in a very important chapter of a larger story (Zelda1- LttP)? Are they chosen by fate to save the world until the time of prophecy comes and the messianic Hero of Time saves the world (OoT- TP)? Or are they forces of nature, doomed to repeat themselves until the end of time (SS)? The first 2 have more than enough room for a Linkelle (also, I really don't like SS's implications for the series).
and 2) the Zelda series has a strong female character. Princess Zelda!!! I've been wanting to play as her forever! She already is a pre-established character with a history and a presence. No one would ever confuse her for just a gender swap. How come we don't have a game with Zelda as the protagonist yet? And before somebody says so, No, I don't consider the CDi games Zelda games.
But Nintendo is going to do what they want to do, regardless of what everyone thinks or says. Oh well. Linkelle is here to stay.
P.S. we almost got a female Link for Majora's Mask. She would have been Link's Termina counterpart but was eventually cut out. That would have been awesome.
lol. oh no!!! boobies!!! Run away!! I bet it was Nintendo of America and their family-friendly obsession that pushed this. Anyways, I don't really care about a boob-slider. It would be nice to have, but I plan on walking around around with heavy armor so it's not like it would matter much. But more important than a boob slider (or a junk slider), I hope I can choose my skin color. I think that, more than a boob slider, will make me feel more like the avatar represents me than anything else.
Good for Sony. If Nintendo can't bother porting their Wii VC games to Wii U, or at least give us a clear answer on what will happen to our digital games and if they'll be able to make the jump to NX (without us rebuying them), then it's up to other companies to deliver where they are failing. I would love to see more SNES games come to PS4 and Xbone.
That being said, no way am I buying this game. It's too hard for me.
@Aerona
or... or... a rom... ? (°◡°♡).:。
Sorry, I don't know what you're hinting at.
I wish I could get a Gameboy. I live in some weird, nowhere place next to a canyon in the Northwest. The nearest store that sells a Gameboy is almost 3 hours away.
If I can give you some advice. Never let your parents move you to some nowhere place near a canyon. But other than that, the U.S. Northwest is pretty cool.
Crystal was the first that let you play as a girl, right? I wish Nintendo would release these on the 3DS VC. I don't like to play roms, but if that's all I have, well, that's all I have.
@Fee I don't think "girl" games or "guy" games exist. I think games lean towards being marketed with socially-constructed traits, such as this game is more "feminine" or this game is more "masculine" but a game is a game. "Girls play girl games... guys play guy games." No, we just play games. I have both Animal Crossing: New Leaf AND Demon's Souls. I don't consider Animal Crossing inherently "girly" and I don't consider Demon's Souls inherently "manly". They're just different genres.
and fyi,I'm no stranger to sarcasm but for the record I'm not really a car. It's a reference to "Revolutionary Girl Utena: Adolescence of Utena." say whaaaaaa?!? へ(゜∇、°)へ
@Fee
A gamer is someone who likes to be part of A community. Posting on forums or websites like this are not the only communities to be a gamer in. I have family and friends who also play games, and spending time with them, sharing games, and talking about games IS the community that I like to be in.
And @Ryu_Niiyama is right. We see the same thing. Mostly guys are the ones who enjoy posting on websites and forums. But I don't see how not wanting to be part of an online community invalidates being able to call myself a "gamer".
(o_ O )
@Fee ok, so I agree that Candycrush is pretty casual, and I wouldn't really call people who play just Candycrush a "gamer." But have you played Farmville? It's pretty fun and can be more than just a casual game. So this brings me to my point. What is your definition of a "gamer?" Is it someone who HAS to play only Call of Duty or some other "guy" game? I define a gamer as someone who not only plays games but enjoys talking about games and being part of a community of other people who also enjoy games. Newsflash, some Farmville players are gamers.
@Dezzy Nintendo has released polls and we're 50/50. As for steam, well, not everyone who games on PC or laptops use steam. I play lots of games on my laptop but hate steam because I find the store annoying and convoluted. I can't be the only one who thinks so.
And finally, a poll on NintendoLife won't prove anything besides who are more willing to visit gaming centric websites. I find that when it comes to "Gamers", like 90% of the ones who enjoy console wars, fan"boy"ing, and posting lots and lots of opinionated comments are guys. Thus, you'll find more guys on NintendoLife's comments.
@supergardie
I've noticed that too. It's so annoying because I think classic systems still have some amazing games worth playing (even if the graphics are pretty bad).
Although, tbh anything older than a Super Nintendo is too much for me.
And I'm happy we're about 50/50. You're right, it shouldn't be about who's winning, it should be about what games we can play and what the future of gaming will look like for all of us.
@LinkSword yeah, same here. I found another website with different pictures also, and she looks strange in all of them. If they screwed up her proportions it would have probably been better to change her age to 16 or 17 (you can't really tell anyways with anime characters) rather than fix her costume.
Also, I saw a video of different costumes and where's the fan-servicey costumes for the male characters? I'm more upset about that.

@SushiGummy lol, thanks. ,、’`<(❛ヮ❛✿)>,、’`’`,、
And I'm happy we're about 50/50. You're right, it shouldn't be about who's winning, it should be about what games we can play and what the future of gaming will look like for all of us.

Re: Nintendo Is Making Female Characters Cover Up For The Western Version Of Xenoblade Chronicles X
@LinkSword
yeah, same here.
