Re: Rumour: Data Miners Find Evidence of Pokémon Crystal in the Gold and Silver VC Releases

Utena-mobile

Oh yessss!!!
Now, this is the pokemon game I remember. I remember getting a Gameboy Advance for Christmas, but only Gameboy Color games for some reason (Pokemon Crystal and Lufia). I don't think my parents realized that but I didn't care, they were both really good games and started me on my hopeless path to Japanese RPG obsession.

Also we could finally choose to play as a girl or boy. That was revolutionary (lol). Kris and Misty were my absolute favorite growing up.

Re: Smash Melee Champ Resigns from All-Male Rules Committee To Encourage Broader Representation

Wow!! What an awesome guy. I'm glad he decided to take a stand. I wish there was more diversity in esports. Like, I feel like the reason why there's so much disparity is because many (including myself) feel like the community is very elitist and unwelcoming.

This feeling doesn't come from the community being misogynistic or mean-spiritied, but esports are incredibly competitive. Not to mention how little diversity there exists in a lot of tournaments and those who run tournaments, and that most competitive activities naturally tend to offer little incentive for a casual player or someone just curious to participate. Throw in a panel of all-male judges who decide the rules, and well, all of these things begin to add up.

This is kind of why I have a ton of Magic the Gathering cards (I like the art, lol), but never play with anyone. It's intimidating trying to join a community. (T_T )

@DarkmarkUnited
and, funnily enough, I've found that in general Japan takes better care of their stuff than Americans. lol.
So if you buy online used and a Japanese seller is describing their product as "Very Good" it's like the equivalent of an American describing their product as "Like New".

I mean, so far I've only seen this with books, but this situation has been so consistent I can't imagine it not also being true for video games.

Re: Feature: Is It Really Cheaper To Order Retro Games Direct From Japan?

@Yorumi
yeah, that's what I was thinking. Like, I would much rather have a PS2 that has been messed around with a lot to play imports than to have a disc without the case or manual.

And, also, I unfortunately don't have the money to buy english SNES games, especially of rare RPGs. (T_T )
Some might say that's what roms are for but, if I can, I would rather play the actual game with the actual controller on a tv.

@Priceless_Spork
I'm not trying to pick a side or anything, but I did have a quick question.
Do you swap the insides of the game to a cartridge with the same title? So like, move Zelda: Triforce of the Gods into a Link to the Past case?
I'm just curious because if you are, then you're not saving any money because Link to the Past is way more expensive than Triforce of the Gods and sort of defeats the purpose of the article (and you might as well just play Link to the Past if you have it).

On the other hand, if you're just putting them into any case you have lying around doesn't it bother you that the case doesn't match the contents? I feel like, from a collector's point of view, that would be even more annoying than buying a SNES without the tabs.

Re: Feature: Is It Really Cheaper To Order Retro Games Direct From Japan?

Huh. I import a lot of books but I never really though of video games too. This is a great idea!
But hopefully you know how to read Japanese because without them RPG's are a pain to play through.
Btw, my sister and I have F-Zero, Dragon Quest 1 and 2, and Mario RPG for Super Famicom, and somehow we still never figured out that importing was an option. lol

Re: Nintendo Reveals More Details About its Paid Online Service

Utena-mobile

wow!! this is seriously a good deal! (^_^ )/
Like, I'm actually pretty excited.

Before I get this though, I'll need to convince my friends to either get into Splatoon with me, or find a good multiplayer game to lose myself in (an online Pokemon game or Monster Hunter may convince me).
Hopefully we see a lot of online games because this is much better than PS Plus (I think XBGold is better than PS Plus, even though it is more expensive, you get 360 games to keep even after your account expires).

@Gamer83
Oh, I know she would never replace Link. A lot of fans would freak out. I've already mentioned this to other people and their response has been... passionate, to say the least... But what about a spin-off game?

@Ryu_Niiyama
Well, yeah, I understand. But not every Zelda is the same. Also, as Windwaker has shown, there can be a Link that isn't the "chosen hero" reborn. So I'm sure there can be a Zelda who isn't the "goddess" reborn.

Re: Random: Switch Actress 'Karen' Embraces her Nintendo Meme

Utena-mobile

Lol. that's awesome! I really like Karen so I'm happy she's having a good time with her meme.

I think it's great when something fun, like having an unofficial mascot, comes out of a good idea and an enthusiastic fan base. Kind of reminds me of all the fan art that came out of "Twitch plays Pokemon."

Hopefully she gets to be in more commercials.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo 3DS, A System That Still Has a Role to Play

Utena-mobile

oh, dang. I wish I got on earlier because I wanted to be near the top.
(T_T )

But yeah, I don't think the 3ds is going to stick around long. 2017 will probably be its last year, and with only a trickle of games.

Everyone, go take a look at the upcoming 3ds games on Gamestop's website.

There are 9 games coming out. One is also an amiibo bundle, another a deluxe version, and 2 are nintendo selects. So really, once those have been taken out, we are looking at 5 games.

The PS Vita on the other hand has 11 games listed for 2017. All of them different titles.

Remember, Nintendo said that the DS was NOT going to replace the Gameboy Advance, but history tells us different.

Re: Nintendo Switch Will Be Easier To Find Than The NES Classic At Launch, Says Reggie Fils-Aime

Utena-mobile

I'm not so sure.

I think the 3ds is done. Nintendo has shown to put marketing speak ahead of practice (especially in the U.S.). There was no 3rd pillar of gaming with DS. DS was the replacement for Gameboy.

Also, a quick look at upcoming 3DS games vs PS Vita games (check Gamestop.com if you don't believe me) shows that Vita has a lot more going for it this year. By a lot.

Nope. 3DS is on its way out. (o_O ) Goodbye. I love you, my adorable 3DS...

Re: Soapbox: The Nintendo Switch's Final Specs Don't Matter

Utena-mobile

@mritchy
They might still get 3rd party support. the nice thing about the switch also being portable, it increases the chances of it taking off in Japan. If Japan falls in love with the Switch, then we can expect a ton of support via 3rd party.

Not to mention, potentially, Capcom, Square Enix, and FromSoftware (as well as other Japanese developers) could throw their support behind it. Sure, it might not get the "latest" ports, but imagine what a Nintendo console can do with Nintendo's 1st party games, Dark Souls, Some Resident Evil ports, and an anthology of Final Fantasy games!!

and if that works, western developers would start to take notice.
I'm definitely with Alex Olney on this. Oh, and yeah, I also agree with you. All Nintendo devs supporting one console is a good idea.
