The Wonderful 101 was one of the Wii U's most unique and enjoyable exclusives, but the commercial failure of the console meant it didn't reach as many people as it should have done.
PlatinumGames' Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya want to change that by releasing the game on Switch, and during a talk at Reboot Develop 2018 in Croatia, Kamiya issued a rallying cry:
We're going to knock the audience participation up a bit. They're still trying to negotiate with Nintendo whether a possible Wonderful 101 Switch release could happen but it always helps when the people in the audience at Reboot clap if they'd actually buy a Switch version of Wonderful 101. So anybody who would buy that, please clap...
After the talk, Eurogamer caught up with Inaba to clarify things. A translator listened to Inaba's reply and then said:
From their perspective obviously there are things they can't talk about, about dealings they have with Nintendo. Certainly they can say everything they said during the speech, which was, 'Hey, we should do that.' But whether that is a 'we are going to do that', and what the likelihood is of that happening, is just going to have to be something you wait to find out.
We certainly wouldn't be against this incredible game getting a new lease of life on Switch, but what about you? Let us know if you'd double dip if it got a re-release by posting a comment below.

Clap clap
I never jumped into it, but it very much intrigues me. I'd like to see it at like a $20 price point, hopefully not $50. At this point that would be my only barrier to picking it up.
Already have it on Wii U and not buying it again but...
Clap clap.
I didn't like using the right stick to draw the items in W101.
I'd buy it again, but it would really lose some of its magic without the touchpad and stylus.
This was a under rated game. I would welcome it
What about me? Well, whilst I absolutely adored Wonderful 101 and it was the big game I was looking forward to when I got my Wii U, I wouldn't double-dip and pick up a Switch version.
Wonderful 101 was built for the Wii U; I couldn't imagine trying to play it without the gamepad and touch screen for drawing shapes. I bit into Pokkén Tournament DX, but that was a Wii U game that didn't really utilise the Wii U's uniqueness; Wonderful 101 certainly did to fantastic effect.
I suppose the drawing motion could instead be done via the Switch Joy-Con's motion controls... I'd consider picking up a sequel with that control method, but not a port.
Can I Clap twice? Clap clap, clap clap
Isn't this old news? I knew about Kamiya wanting the game on Switch for the past 4-5 months...
The only real "issue" would be the stages which had little mechanics where you would walk inside a room which you couldn't see from above (as the game is top-down) but it would appear on your Gamepad in a different viewpoint. It should be resolvable by splitting the screen into two stylized asymmetric screens on the Switch screen/TV.
Underrated, would buy again. Clap, clap.
I’d get it. Good game. Not at full price though
The Switch needs more Wii U ports for sure!
Xenoblade X, Wonderful 101, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Super Mario 3D World (as well as Smash and Super Mario Maker if those 2 games don't get Splatoon 2 like sequels) at the very least.
Loved that game, it's in my Wii U top 5... Would Get it day-one. Clap-clap
I probably wouldn't buy it. I was interested in Wonderful 101 for a bit when it was on the Wii U, but I think that interest is completely gone now.
It's my 3rd most wanted Wii U port, right after Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Xenoblade X. chap chap
I'll clap for a Switch port of any game made by Platinum/Hideki Kamiya. Already got Bayonetta 1+2, and I plan on getting Okami once that's on the eShop (thanks, Crapcom, for not producing physical copies, btw). After that, gimme ports of W101, MadWorld, and HD collections for DMC and Viewtiful Joe, and I'll be a really happy nerd!
👏👏👏
I 101% the first.... I will buy it for a second time only to support a sequel
I have this on Wii U and I still haven't played it yet.
I will save my money and play it on my Switch prototype, aka Wii U.
I wish Switch had more new releases rather than re releases.
Nintendo said Switch would have more games released early in its cycle than Wii U did, they just failed to mention that they would be games I already own from the previous console.
I would prefer these re releases later on in the Switch's lifetime than so early after the Wii U.
Guess I will have to wait a bit longer for more real Switch games.
Lucky for Nintendo Indies are at least pulling their weight.
I didn’t love this on Wii U, although admittedly I only played the demo. Still, I hope this comes to the Switch. More games the better.
I would love this
This game was so fun. I like it as much as Bayonetta 2 and Nier Automata.
It's one of Platinum's best games.
I only played the demo on the Wii U, I didn't have a clue what I was doing. I think this deserves another chance based on the high amount of praise it received.
I won't support it, Switch must get new titles not ports of a platform which is still in shops. Yes, not everyone bought Wii U & want to, but same can be told about GameCube, N64 & many other consoles. Especially silly to port titles which use a Wii U's asymmetric gameplay feature or strongly depend on a touch input.
I'll probably get it on Wii U. now a new game... Clap, Clap.
OMG.. what a crap game.... yeah i said it
clap
Chap chap, clop clop.
@jimi if only it was somehow possible to find an alternative control scheme for TV mode among Switch's multiple options. Next thing someone will want to port TWEWY, pfffff.
Already have it on Wii U and I don't give a [removed] about the Switch, but I'd buy it again in a heartbeat just to support it, awesome game.
Clap Clap
Claps until hands explode
Tied with Skies of Arcadia for the title of "most underrated gem in gaming" imo. Will gladly double-dip to support this!
I liked everything about the game but wasn’t mad about the controls if it’s ported they maybe look at getting the controls spot on I found it difficult sometimes and unresponsive
A huge round of applause goes out to the devs.
Great game. I’ll buy it if it a new edition that fixes some of the flaws. The joy con should work much better for this title.
Give us a sequel instead
I hope it happens for those that are interested but I wouldn't touch it with a 20-foot cattle-prod
That is one of my favorite games ever!
The super sentai-like soundtrack on the first level never got away of my mind!
The characters are so unique and we'll developed.
Of course they will have to adapt the touch screen controls to be used with the joycon like a wiimote to keep the fun going.
Clap clap clap clap clap clap
Game was funny, fun, no it was not difficult to control and yes it was a very WONDERFUL experience.
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
@BensonUii Monolith Soft said XCX is already discussed. TMS #FE might not happen soon since Nintendo already has a mainline Fire Emblem slated on Switch for this year, but it would be welcome anytime, especially while Persona games remain a PlayStation thing. All the rest of the list, too.
@oji "Yes, not everyone bought Wii U & want to, but same can be told about GameCube, N64 & many other consoles." - and so ports/remakes from all those consoles are equally viable as well. Your point? Last time I checked, 3DS, PS4 and XBO were all previously released platforms still in shops as well.
pass.. Played it on Wii U.. Was only "okay". Pass on the rest of the ports in may also.
Wasn't a fan of the original to be honest.
Control and camera issues and the difficulty was all over the place. Couldn't be bothered with the story either.
Rather they give us Viewtiful Joe and Nier Automata, wasnt too impressed by this game. Had artificial difficulty at times and everything was too hectic to the point you barely know whats going on most of the time.
Day one buy for me
@jimi provided it would run satisfactorily, that's quite a portable option as well - but has Platinum Games done anything in real time action on 3DS before?
I don't know if you have better Switch design ideas that wouldn't compromise its nature, battery life OR pricetag (unless your idea of a properly designed console is an powerful living room dust collector box with optional portability at 1-1.5 Gb/hour - in that case, PS4 is a better choice), but I do wonder if Nintendo could just work out some backward compatibility with the GamePad for someone with your demands. No sarcasm implied here.
@nhSnork
My point is developers have to stop milking gamers. If it's not a decent remake with new features and / or graphics - GTFO. Some great titles which I bought instantly are Metroid: Samus Returns & Wind Waker HD, those surely deserves a double dip. But if I want to play an old title I use an original console or even an emulator, not buy an overpriced lazy port. I personally use new consoles for a new experience. So I gladly purchase & play Wonderful 102, Bayonetta 3, Mario Kart 9, Smash 5 etc. on my Switch but not a previously available titles with no or little changes to them.
I wouldn't purchase it again but I had a blast playing it on the Wii U and think porting it to the Switch is a great idea.
I wouldn't purchase it again but I had a blast playing it on the Wii U and think porting it to the Switch is a great idea.
If like Bayonetta where they announce the remake and a new sequel for the Switch - sure. If only another rehashed game, no thanks.
@Grumblevolcano pretty much a perfect list of wants. Maybe only new super mario bros u could be added but pretty spot on
Great game, had a lot more to it than I expected. If they could map the touchscreen controls to motion in the Joycon - and get it to work accurately - it could be pretty awesome.
I'd get it again ahead of a sequel as we don't own it, only rented it, b/c I didn't expect it to be that good. Needs W102 though.
I would personally rather get Metal Gear Rising. But the problem with that? Konami...
@jimi Nintendo learned from the Wii U that the worst thing a console can have is game droughts. So given the choice between lots of Wii U ports (the approach their competitors used for most recent consoles) and lots of game droughts (the Wii U approach), they made the right choice by going for the former option.
Yes please great game 🎮
@jimi Pretty much, plenty of Wii ports in the first few years to fill in gaps in addition to better marketing would've helped the Wii U a lot.
@Mr_Pepperami That's in my 2nd tier of Wii U ports: NSMBU+NSLU, Yoshi's Woolly World, Paper Mario Color Splash, Star Fox Zero + Star Fox Guard, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Pikmin 3, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
@oji then what's all the clamour for virtual consoles among said gamers? Ports don't "milk" old audiences nearly as much as they simply fish among new ones. The market doesn't end with you. And portable gaming has thrived on ports since Game Boy because not everyone is motivated to buy games on platforms they can't properly play them on.
Your personal support is your right and decision, the extent I fully support - but it's based on your preferences and the pastime your life and schedule can [still] afford and has nothing to do with what developers need or want to do. The Switch is the only new dedicated option for portable console gaming now and for the visible future, so plenty of ports are natural and welcome. Portability is only a gimmick until you start booting up your "living room entertainment" mostly on holidays and try to remember what was even going on in that save file last time you dropped by.
@jimi Switch is sold as a hybrid - a home console you can take with you and play anywhere. What you seem to suggest instead is:
> a Switch but only hooked to the TV through a direct HDMI connection and still supposed to put a bigger resolution out, so better have long cables and a socket nearby.
> a Switch with a separate touchscreen controller you'll need to carry around separately, play off TV in tabletop mode only or strap onto the main unit from below to form something DS-like.
> separate consoles "like Wii U and 3DS" where any portability beyond the 10 m range has to rely on ports and cloud cross-saves like in PSN environment.
Like I said, your sentiment would seem more easily remedied by making Wii U controller optionally compatible with Switch for TV mode. That's what "backward compatible" meant in case you misunderstood. Although the topic you jumped to has little left to discuss as well - Switch is simply following a generation where old architectures were abandoned like burning ships. I'm even impressed that at least Vita somehow managed to retain the compatibility out the gate. Most titles had to be adapted enough that most staff on the job would call it a port and demand according wages - so then why would publishers not be inclined to sell such jobs as ports to begin with?
@ArcanaXVI I'd be in the market for Infinite Space as well.
Please stop with WiiU ports and put out new games ... Do a sequel to it yeah!
@Anti-Matter Why are Wii U ports good? This is Year 2 for the Switch, 3rd parties should be focusing on NEW games.
This is a game i really liked and would play it again. I would love to see a sequel.
Nah. I liked it, but it always felt like a poor man’s broken Bayonetta. And since we got the real deal I don’t really want it
@oji
The only way ports would be milking anyone is if they were forced to buy them. But they're not, which is why every system ever has tons of ports.
@nhSnork
IIRC virtual console always been a place for cheap old titles released before on old consoles for those nostalgia driven gamers. I even bought Earthbound Beginnings on Wii U as it was a first time's official translation. But it wasn't 60 USD DKCR for sure, more likely few bucks & couple golden coins for a discount.
@electrolite77
Do Bethesda force anyone to buy Skyrim? Does it milking by re-release it again, and again, and again? On every single possible platform starting from PC & up to a microwave oven.
@Matthew010
Because the Wii U was a flop, vaguely redeemed by some good games, it makes perfect sense to port those games to a superior system with a bigger userbase. But it wouldn't make sense to port them all in year 1, they need to be spaced out. Expect to still be seeing Wii U ports in Years 3 and 4, like on other systems.
@oji
No, nobody is forced to buy Skyrim or any other old game. The only people being 'milked' are choosing to buy them again, which is not being milked.
@nhSnork
One of the funniest things you see on Nintendo forums is "argh too many ports! And where's virtual Console?" with no irony visible.
@NintyNate
If a sequel would take the sake amount of time, effort and money as a port I'm sure they would but it would take a lot more
Henshin A Go-Go, Baby! Give me their cousin Joe too.
I want this game portable! Chasing high scores would be perfect on the go. claps
Maybe a sequal to the game? And have the first game as a bonus, like how they released Bayonetta 2 on the Wii U with the first game as a bonus. This would please the Wii U users and also give a chance to newcomers
I remember playing the demo for or and it had very cool mechanics, never got to play it though. And would like this game to have a better spotlight... Maybe get into Smash one day as well, they have cool designs.
Have it and it’s great. Great chance for those who haven’t played it.
Bad year for switch games for me
@mailman
Like Arms or Snipperclips maybe? Perhaps Splatoon 2 or Xenoblade 2 are more to your liking? Mario V Rabbids?
@electrolite77 it gets especially rich when titles like Skyrim are derogatorily discussed as "ports of old games".
@Matthew010
Well...
Give some Second chance for Great Wii U games to be ported to Switch.
You know, actually i just only have 7 (Seven) physical Wii U games right now. Wii U was Not really a good machine in my opinion, same as Gamecube.
I got Very few choices that fit with my criterias.
So that's why i use my Wii U for playing Wii games by Majorly, Gamecube games on my Wii.
@locky-mavo I'd kill for a TMS port or should I say clap
@KilleyMC Mind your language!
@jimi
I like it when people make out Nintendo porting loads of old games to their new system is a new thing. It's like Virtual Console, Gameboy Colour, Gameboy Advance, New Play Control never happened. This is what they do. Twilight Princess has been on the last 3 Nintendo home formats, Super Mario Bros has been on 8 formats now (including the Arcade version on Switch), Ocarina of Time 5, Dr Mario/Luigi has been on 9 formats. This isn't a new thing.
@nhSnork
Indeed. Or Mario kart 8 Deluxe, for that matter.
@johndevine I wonder if a gyro solution might work
@jimi
They're ports. Straight, unenhanced ports. Emulation is the laziest porting you can do. To the end user, ports.
I've always been slightly intrigued by this game but never did pick it up. I wouldn't say no to springing forward to a Switch version if it ever does happen.
Bought it on the WiiU, but didn't really get into it and play it very much :/ But this is maybe a game that I could buy again on the Switch and play portable. So, clap clap!!
101st 😆
Never played it on Wii U, so I’d be down for a second chance!
@jimi don’t bother. He’s either a troll or has something wrong with him
@electrolite77 - I am very much encouraging of new games at all times. But ports, often done by a smaller, more underdeveloped, the usually taking the reigns, learning their own craft and making a product worth consumption of the game as they wait for the next new game to come along as they so choose to do so.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was not made by the MK8 teamN they were working on ARMS. If this was not the case they would not have either and we may still been looking at waiting for MK9 till probably about this time. This can be said on almost all of their games that are ported. Bayo3 will not experience a halt in development cause they have to shift to port W101, they have another team to do so (and judging by what they said, it almost a reality).
Ports are also serving a dam good venue for constant advertising for the Switch as it is. Namely a lot of "forgotten" games released on a console everyone dismissed are probably seeing Bayonetta, DKCTF and Hyrule Warriors for the first time simply due to the much larger consumer base existing. MK8D is a solid example of this. Almost 2 games a month average as of right now, released on Switch, from Nintendo in some form. This is literally unheard of before, and retailers are seeing bank because Nintendo games also do not lose their value as greatly as others. Ports are a huge profit potential in the long run.
Best Wii U game
clap clap
I would totally buy it a second time on the Switch! Yes please!!
As with Pikmin 3 they also need to do a switch control scheme for left handers like myself.
I'd get it. It was a different control setup, with a decent learning curve. It would be a niche market, but I don't think that the control issues could not be addressed. That said, 59.99 is an unfair price for a port, but I'd get it anyway because UGC or Amazon Prime.
@Frodaggins camera issues? I guess you didn’t play the game actually.
Camera was fixed .........
Never played it, I’ll buy it!!! (Also I wish we’d stop asking for so many ports! The Switch isn’t even original anymore!)
@gloom - Curious, what do you feel like would be a better advertising campaign.
1. No ports and see 6+ months of advertising Zelda and Splatoon 2 (as the scenario would look something like this as MK9 would probably take precedent over an ARMS idea since MK8D wouldn't been a thing) followed by another rough 6 months of Mario Odyssey and Fire Emblem Warriors?
2. Switch advertising a set of games seemingly new to a standard consumer with something different nearly every advertising cycle, utilizing a collective of games new and old to sell to various customers with mixtures of Skyrim and Xenoblade 2 in one add (like they're doing now)?
@jimi
How they get from one system to the other is irrelevant to the point. Nintendo has been enthusiastically repackaging and (key word) reselling its games at cost to the end user for years. Whether its cynical and lazy emulated ROM dumps that they charge for on multiple systems, emptying their SNES library onto the GBA at full price and justifying it with portability, NES Classics on the GBA, recolouring Gameboy games and selling them at full price to GBC owners, unenhanced GameCube games on Wii discs at £30 each because they use the Wiis built-in controls, Mario All Stars on the Wii, 3D Classics on 3DS etc. it's been their trademark for a long time.
The Wii U ports to Switch are portable, feature better graphics and in several cases, more content. Yamauchi and Iwata would heartily approve.
I’d love as many Platinum Games as possible, both old and new on my Switch.
@Paraka
Absolutely spot on. I agree with every word.
@fafonio I know it was fixed, but I often encountered scenes where the angle wasn't optimal and it was very tough to figure out what was going on.
I never beat the game but I'd buy it for the Switch.
No thank you. I didn't care for it on the Wii U. I wanted to, but to me the game just wasn't fun. Style was awesome
@Kidfunkadelic83 The thumbstick was leftie friendly and the superior control method to the touch screen.
I'm a leftie myself.
I can see why the Wii U ports are concerning to people. The Switch had an awesome first year of fresh exclusive content - see Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2 (which is absolutely a legit sequel and not "Splatoon 1.5"), Xenoblade 2, ARMS and Mario/Rabbids. But so far, the third-party slate for 2018 has been very light on fresh content and heavy on ports. It's feeling a bit like the Game Boy Advance's second year, which is not a good thing.
I fully expect the second half of the year to make up for it though, especially if Smash indeed does release in '18. My first reaction was to say "No way, they're not gonna make that release window" - but I said the same thing about Xenoblade 2, and look at what happened...!
This game would be most deserving of a port. However, I think its a matter of where Nintendo has a gap it would fill. You rerelease Wonderful 101 close to the next big 1st party release it won't sell again.
Perhaps some Nintendo cameos like "MarioMan" or "Super Weegee" heroes might help a little?
I've got the CLAP for that!
Or even better why not already have a sequil ready for the switch?! That includes the first game!
I know. I make to much sense
I’m clapping 👏
@kepsux it's worth full price I can assure you.
For a double dip I'd buy it at half, though.
@kepsux it will either be 39.99 or 49.99 but it is a worthwild game to play so long as it eventually snaps for you but until then it will seem like a bad game to you.
@1UP_MARIO same here. Slow year. Not bought anything since the Bayonetta double pack and I was on be fence for that one. May pick up captain toad in July though as I loved that game and it has some new levels
Clap clap
Clap - every good Wii U port should come over as well as a re-remastered Metroid Prime Trilogy and HD Mario Galaxy double-pack.
@Alucard83 false
Surprised that so many people liked the game. I played a demo of it and wasn't impressed. I Would like to see a port of Yoshi Wooly World however, as that was one of my fav games on Wii U that I would like to replay on Switch. I never did see the point of WiiU ports onto 3DS, but I suppose they were a good thing for somebody out there.
@Angelic_Lapras_King What would help the most is a character like Wonder Red being a playable fighter in Smash Switch. Bayonetta's increased popularity on Nintendo consoles came about because of Smash after all.
@electrolite77 or Doom and Wolfenstein 2, even. A thankfully rare claim but still nothing I could make up if I tried.
I'd prefer a Wonderful 102.
The 101 would need some changes made to be playable on the Switch, I guess they could use motions when docked and touchscreen in portable.
Great game, loved it. I won't be buying it again though.
Sounds kinda stupid considering how it wasn't that good on the Wii U and was largely ignored by everyone who isn't a fan of the developer.
Sure, I missed this on Wii U. Clap clap.
Also, emulating a gamepad with a Switch is really easy if you’re willing to use a second switch.
Obviously it would have to be optional. But itd be a nice option
Have it on Wii U but didn't get around to playing it. Am regretting spending so much time in the past solving Picross puzzles instead.
I’d rather see madworld or vanquish before w101. I enjoyed it a little, but would rather have something a bit older first. Something that is sitting unfinished on my shelf right now.
@Donutman - The ones you mentioned have secondary publishers to deal with. One of them not even keen on supporting the platform much outside Sonic.
At least with W101 (and a potential sequel) has a chance cause you're dealing with the company who owns the publishing rights and the IP. Not to mention the console dealing with the release. It's an entire win if the port is even remotely successful in sales.
There's a good chance I'd buy it.
I'm not quite sure a Wonderful 101 port is commercially viable. The game absolutely bombed on the Wii U, enough to make Bayonetta 2 sales seem quite great in comparison.
@jimi "Are you autistic or something?"
This is unacceptable. Completely unacceptable. @Anti-Matter is odd and doesn't speak English with 100% fluency but you don't have to be this rude to him. Regardless of whether or not he is autistic (which I don't think he is), it is not a negative thing like you are making it out to be here. Don't use "autistic" as a synonym for "stupid."
@kepsux I finished it in the wiiu. It’s totally worth 50 bucks.
I feel like I read this same article last summer
Claps.
would TOTALLY double dip into this... had this game early on in Wii U's life cycle, but never got the chance to play more than 2 stages... hope the find new features to bring!!!
@CaPPa
Same, but I'm assuming Kamiya wants 101 on Switch so it can hopefully get more attention with a larger install base to warrant a sequel.
These potential ports are amazing news for anyone who wasn't a dedicated Nintendo fan before the Switch, owned a Wii U and already bought all these things.
Not even sure I finished the Wii U version. Certainly wouldn't double dip. But re-releasing it for the eShop couldn't hurt. It would certainly do better now
Think they missed the part where the whole room clapped...
played the demo of this on my Wii U and I liked it. If they released it for Switch it would be on my pick up list. Clap Clap
I am clapping like a motherf***** right now. As that was one of my absolute favorite games as of late. And yes, I would ABSOLUTEY buy this game again. If not just to have it on my newer, portable system & to support & show how badly I want a sequel! Don't have me doing all this s*** and you don't send this to Nintendo or Platinum Games though. This is certainly something that I can get behind. So make some use out of the effort!
@JayJ
I'll not have such disrespect towards such an awesome game. As the kids say these days, boy bye! LOL
At this stage I would have hoped for a sequel rather than an intention to port the original, maybe even a bayonetta style bundle. Oh well whatever, nevermind.
Sold! Always wanted it on Wii U but managed to never get it.
Hey now (hey now) this is what dreams are made of.
Somehow I doubt this game will find a bigger audience on Switch than it did on WiiU.
Clap Clap! And A double Clap! like Clap Trap this and Super smash for the switch is all I need in my life now.
Clap clap, never owned a Wii u, would consider any of its hits for purchase on switch assuming the price was right.
More ports, cue Super Mario 3D World, and Super Mario Maker if not a sequel. Zelda ports too.
Bought it for Wii U, because everybody said it's such a great game, played it and sold it a week later. Just not my game.
Would buys i again if they got rid of the awful control scheme
I would get it again on Switch, but a sequel would be pretty good. That and a new TMS#FE, the first was really good.
Yes, I'd double-dip.
I
I would be cautious about buying this again. I feel like my Wii U copy is good enough. Put it up as a download title for people that never played it.
I already have mine in wii-U. My interest is in buy the sequence.
ADVICE:
If the producers will release it again, they need put a black suit under the uniform of the heroes. A explosion of people naked when you get k.o., for sure , drive away most of parents wich could think in buy the game to his kids. And the game have a atmosfere very friendly to kids. So, a lost of sales was wasted because it.
I want this and I want the viewtiful joe series on Switch as well.
@mailman
haha
If any game deserves a second chance on the market, it's this one. The games release in the early lifetime of the Wii U and it's poor marketing really left this game with no chance. It could still explain its systems a bit better, but the spectacle and charm of the whole game is incredible.
With that said... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A4faLHDx_U
clap clap
I never got it on the Wii U, but I would certainly love to get it on the Switch. It deserves better than to fade away into obscurity!
IDK how it would transition to sitch
Frankly I think almost all the good games on Wii U should be revived and ported to Switch. Despite owning a Wii U, to me, the Switch is what the Wii U should have been. The games I'd most like to see are the HD Zelda remasters, Xenoblade X, Pikmin 3 and Mario Maker.
I am partially interested in this game, but I dont think I would buy it any time soon. It didn't catch my attention on the Wii U when it was released either. Pikmin is and will always be my RTS style fix for consoles, though this is quite different.
Already own it on the Wii U, so I will not double dip on this game. But they could just put it up on the Eshop as a digital download only title and release a New Wonderful 101 Sequel then I would be interested.
Great game but i already own it.
@Souldin Protip: starting a post with "What about me?" is the best way to make sure no one cares about the post. It makes you look like an entitled whiner. If you want to be taken seriously then never do it.
You have a Wii U version, a Switch port won't make it magically disappear. It's not like people are buying Wii Us anyway.
Was a great game that went totally unappreciated by most. Had on the Wii U and oh man that end...was a 15/10 just kept getting better. Definitely would go in for another dip on it.
I would get the game again if it comes with more extras. Wonderful 101 was my favorite game on Wii U.
We all want Wonderful 101 on Switch.
Make it happen, Nintendo.
basically all the Wii U exlusives deserve the second chance on the Switch, so that finally they can get as much attention as they deserve
They definitely should. I'm not going to re-buy because I already played this on Wii U. But the game was incredible and so much fun that it really should be given the chance to be played by way more people. Bring it to Switch, it'll be very successful.
@SmaggTheSmug The question put forth in this article was as follows 'We certainly wouldn't be against this incredible game getting a new lease of life on Switch, but what about you?'
As such, I started my comment in reference to the question, thus why my first line was "What about me?" It was merely what I felt to be an efficient way to open up my comment, which at it's core, is an answer to the question put forth to each and every reader.
As for the rest of your comment, well like with my answer, it is only how I personally feel about the possibility of a Switch port. I have no interest in a Switch version, not only because I already own the game, but due to how I feel Wonderful 101 is enhanced by the GamePad and touch controls leading to a Switch version potentially being an inferior version (to specify again, in my opinion). Rather than seeing what I feel I would consider a lesser port, I feel it would be better if folks were able to experience the game in it's better state, if they are interested in trying it out of course.
I agree with the majority. I'd like to see Wonderful 101 on the Switch but it should be at a discounted price like no more than $39.99. Think it'd be more attractive at $29.99 actually.
@Souldin Haha, sorry. It's just that there's been quite a few people here whining about their precious Wii U collections getting devalued and I've not seen you before. I didn't make the connection with the call-to-action in the article.
@SmaggTheSmug That's alright; I haven't commented too much in a while but I used to back in the day.
I will admit, I am someone who does find his Wii U collection fairly precious (I am a lucky Brit with a physical copy of Project Zero after all), though I feel my affections are more so for the system rather than the games library. There are plenty of great games on the Wii U and I think it would be neat if others got to enjoy them on the Switch, but I also feel that a lot of those games benefited plenty from the Wii U's unique features.
Pokkén Tournament or Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze; didn't take advantage of the GamePad, makes sense to port. Even more so for the former as they could continue to foster it's online fighting community on the Switch.
Wonderful 101 whom the gameplay feels designed around the GamePad and enhanced by it; doesn't make sense to me. Then again, I feel the same way about Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and that is getting ported to Switch. I just don't see how they could offer the same or better of an experience on the Switch, so it seems like they'd be downgraded ports to me.
I would not double dip personally, but this game NEEDS and DESERVES a second chance to shine. For anyone who didn't play it, it's a must play.
I would love...a sequel!
Yes bring 101 AND the viewtiful joe games to the switch as well please.
