Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Is Japan's Fastest-Selling Switch Game

@glaemay I feel the same way. Then again I've kinda felt the same way about "acclaimed" open world games like Assassin's Creed and The Witcher as well. I feel like just because the game has a ton of points of interest vomited up into a large space doesn't make the space compelling. Witcher for example has innumerable little question marks on its world map, but they're all gonna be either "kill the bandits" or "kill the monsters."

I think Breath of the Wild is the king of open world games because it's the only one where exploration is fun because of THE WORLD itself and not the objectives in it. Don't get me wrong, the shrines are a big part of motivating me to explore, but mostly I just wanted to get to the top of every mountain lol.

Let's Go is a good jumping-in point, it's basically "Pokemon Lite." And that's not a bad thing! It's still a fun adventure, and if your child has never played the original Red / Blue / Yellow then they'll find it pretty fresh.

However, if I was a kid and asked for a "random Pokemon game" and I knew the newest ones had just come out, everyone knows I'm asking for the newest one. Sword and Shield aren't gonna be as easy to get into as Let's Go, but they're current and exciting.

Good luck!

@Edu23XWiiU Yeah they should have not released the game for five years and paid their employees with all the imaginary money they were making. Sorry for the snark, but game dev takes money. When you run out of money, the game has to come out whether it's good and done or not. At least Hello Games bothered to finish it afterwards, unlike many AAA studios who could have actually afforded to postpone the release.
