Re: Relaxing Adventure RPG Alchemic Cutie Is Headed To The Switch Next Year

@rjejr I'm just saying, if you rendered New Leaf at 1080p (which you can do on an emulator), it looks pretty damn great. Crank up the texture resolution and it's probably about what the Switch game will look like.

I never got the "this better not be a port" thing with Smash Ultimate, either. It's like... What's the difference between a brand new Smash game, and a port of the last Smash game but with added characters? Basically nothing. The same is true of Animal Crossing. Whether it's a port or a brand new game, it's gonna share like 90% of its content with previous AC games. That's just how Animal Crossing works.

@SmaggTheSmug The demo doesn't do a good job at showing this, mostly because your character is outfitted in very high-level armor, but in the actual game if you just swing randomly at monsters you will die very, very quickly. The game is actually very tactical and skill based, and the combat is "clunky" on purpose: similar to a game like Deadliest Warrior, you have to pick and choose your moment to attack, because you're committing to several seconds of unskippable animation

@roadrunner343 It's definitely not for everyone, so no pressure. However, you should definitely give this demo a try! MH4 improved a lot over MH3, and MHGU is an evolution of those improvements.

That said, MH:World is still indisputably the most beginner friendly game the series has ever had, and of course it looks better. This comes at a cost of content though (It took me just under 200 hours to complete everything in World, whereas MHGU could last you over 1000 if you get into it enough to want to finish every quest).

Re: Etrian Odyssey Nexus Announced For Nintendo 3DS In The West, Available February 2019

@JoakimZ Hey! Etrian Odyssey vet here. The games share most of their gameplay, so you an really start with any one of the 3DS games. I would recommend either Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl (a remake of the original game) or Etrian Odyssey IV (which has a unique and very cool overworld system), since those are my favorites

EDIT: Argh, beaten to the punch by Tops! Although as you can see, between us, we recommended every single game on the 3DS So yeah just start wherever you want, they're all great.

"Though none of this music could be adequately described as catchy"

You'd pretty much have to be deaf not to think Ryoshima Plains or any of the dozens of memorable character themes didn't qualify as "catchy" >.>

@outsider83 I'm with @Pignot on this one actually. Yes it's nice to spotlight games that might be underappreciated, but I don't want NL to do that INSTEAD of reviewing games I already think I might want.
