Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for 7th - 13th October, revealing that new Switch entry Disney Tsum Tsum Festival has managed to debut at number one.

Elsewhere, Nintendo games are once again dominating the top ten, with just two PS4 titles spoiling the Switch's party.

@m8e3point1415 Too soon! Don't think the Lite is done yet. It's not Animal Crossing that people are waiting for, but Pokémon Sword and Shield. Just wait till those figures show!
@DockEllisD apparently Japan also raised taxes on games and consoles. Because of that the past few weeks were probably a bit inflated and the coming few weeks will be a bit weaker.
I mean.. What am I saying? Check that drop? Nintendoomed!
@m8e3point1415 Too bad too, I think it's one of my favorite purchases in recent times. I would have paid $20-40 more for it to still be able to dock with my existing hardware though
I can't imagine picking a ps4 over the pro, but OK.
I got yokai watch 1 for Switch. I prefer the 3ds version, but it's nice being able to play the game on a TV.
@RedderRugfish yeah, but vita’s lifetime sales in japan are like 200x as much as the xbone lifetime sales. Also vita used to sale way more in japan on a weekly base than xbone up until recently.
And I mean the console is like, what? 8 years old now? Almost 8 years old? Even if the console wad dead due to sony’s neglect, it certainly lived its console life by now.
Time sony made a vita successor, maybe one based on the switch?
@feder : I'd say the same for those who still pick DVD over vastly superior Blu-ray, but the majority don't seem to care when there are dollars to be saved, more so in the case of the PS4/Pro, where the benefits may not be considered worth the premium for a lot of people.
and people slated Tsum Tsum’s when it was revealed. My and my daughter cannot wait to play this!
@feder can you play Yo-Kai in English?
Yokai Watch’s run is finito.
They need to stop focusing on Japan and hurry up and localize for the west. Japan doesn’t give two flips anymore. And that’s fine. But western sales would easily counter that, as western Switch sales are pure 🔥 In the west, everything on Switch is trouncing.
Looks like Switch hardware sales will easily hit 10M over there before the year is out, possibly before the end of November. Good stuff. 👍
I didn't know if Disney Tsum Tsum Japanese version has been released this month. 😮
Will consider the USA / PAL version on December 2019. 😀
The super-typhoon didnt exactly help video game sales in Japan.
@JaxonH It would have been crazy talk to say it four years ago, but I'm pretty sure the interest in Yokai Watch could possibly be higher in the west than in Japan right now.
Really need a Switch release to tell for sure though.
Yokai has really hit the skids. I know it’s just a updated port but this and part 4’s sale figures have got to be killing Level 5.
@jswhitfield8 That is what it is. It's just that it's Disney. The cult of Disney will buy anything with mouse ears.
I don't hate Disney just for being Disney, but I do greatly dislike them for their business practices over the last 15ish years and their painful lack of actual, quality new content that isn't Marvel.
In the last 15 years Disney has ruined Star Wars, and bastardized countless classic animated films with lazy, badly written live action versions. If not for Frozen and Marvel, Disney would have nothing good to show for it's last 15 years.
I hope it doesnt take level 5 forever to release ykw1 for the switch in the west
I played Tsum Tsum Festival at a convention. The Pac-Man like minigame was pretty decent can't remember anything else about the demo. They also gave me a pin that's worth $5, so that was neat.
With the original Switch being both a portable and a home console, what's the point of buying a Switch Lite anyways. The Japanese audience aren't dumb, they knew which Switch to buy for the money which is why Switch Lite sales isn't any better. What would be even worst is when Switch Pro, a dock only Switch came out, a predict maybe that will do a lot worst. The PS4 is already proof enough that the Japanese audience don't care jack about better graphics which is why the 4K support the Switch Pro will have won't go very well with the Japanese audience.
Tsum Tsum is so cute! DQXIS keeps selling.
@Heavyarms55 Disney isn't kaput yet. Zootropolis and Moana are both excellent - much better than Frozen, which was still very good. And Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse shows that Marvel isn't dead yet.
Personally, I'm more worried about Pixar. Coco was good, but apart from that, I think you have to go all the way back to Up (2009) for a really top-tier effort.
@Krull Do you mean that movie with the CG rabbit and fox? Okay that's fair, I forgot it was Disney. Still, considering how gigantic they are and how much money they have, it should be shameful how much crap they serve.
@Heavyarms55 Agreed, the quantity has gone out of control. I don't think the overall quality has dropped too badly (ugh, remembers Eighties Disney), but we are oversaturated with Marvel, Star Wars and animated films at this stage. And I am with you on the live-action remakes - they are dross.
@Silly_G we're on 4k now, so even thinking about DVDs makes my head hurt. But to each his own, I guess.
@popey1980 no, Japanese only. It has furigana though, and I study Japanese. I've also played the 3ds version and have a walk through guidebook for it. There really aren't enough quality of life changes for it to be worth rebuying, but it's nice being able to play it on the tv. I got into yokai watch because I liked the focus on Japanese lore, and so playing it in Japanese helps with that.
@feder ahhhh that’s a bit of a shame. I have the 3DS version too, so that’ll have to do. Thanks for the info though and taking the time to reply, I appreciate it! 🙌🏻
One of my best friends bought that purple/pink Switch for her daughter and I'm super jealous. I either need to steal her Switch or adopt her daughter when she's not looking.
@DockEllisD Not it isn't it charting at same pace it has been in Japan for 2 years week on week. Last month it had huge bump of 500k due Zelda and Dragon quest but before that this same amount it was selling week on week. It going sell another 10 million in Japan before it all said and done.
