@Ralizah Yeah. It was kinda cute in the game boy era (get together with your buddies in the schoolyard and swap pokes, etc) but ever since internet trading became a thing it just seems really greedy.
@Pokester99 I personally think Skyward Sword is a ****Ing amazing game. Like when people complain about it, it feels like we're playing two completely different games.
Is it linear? Yeah, but that didn't stop Mario Galaxy from being a damn masterpiece and it doesn't stop Skyward Sword.
@Friendly It's funny, people never seem to realize that Persona is the spinoff series. Same with Metroid Prime, people are always surprised to find out it's a prequel and not the main series lol
@Ulysses You're actually kinda describing FFXIV Online, which pretty much exactly uses FFXII's battle system. If they ever did an expansion that brought you to Ivalice (and why not, dimension-hopping is obviously a thing since there are Rathaloses and Palicoes from Monster Hunter in the game) it would basically be exactly that haha
@GKO900 Well it's not just about taking pictures. The goal is to get a high score, which usually involves making the Pokemon assume a certain pose or do something special, and the fun of the game is working out how to get the best poses to happen.
In the original, there were some shots that you had to spend the entire course prepping for... just for a high-scoring shot of ONE Pokemon. So it's more of a puzzle game with high replay value than a simple photography sim.
@jsty3105 Yeah I can see why so many are confused because in World you're explicitly told that capturing ALWAYS gives better rewards than slaying. Considering so many people joined the series with that game, it makes sense they'd just assume the logic carries over to Rise.
@Yanina Tell that to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare lmao, I have NO idea why that game has to be so big. And it constantly gets like 10-20GB (gigabyte!) updates that seem to add *** all
@Mr_Persona No, the weapons are pretty much the same as they were in MHW. However, MHW basically incorporated tons of the Hunting Styles from Generations into the basic movesets of the weapons, for example the sword and shield's jumping slash and the insect glaive's mid-air dodge. Personally I felt that World kept the best parts of most of the Styles, so I'm pretty psyched that not much has changed.
@BenAV Don't count 'em out just yet. After all X and Y were pretty divisive, but the remakes that gen (Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire) are in my opinion the second best games in the series (after HeartGold and SoulSilver). So anything could happen!
@mattesdude @andrewclear It didn't specifically take over any game, in fact Momotaro's streak is the longest in at least 25 years (that's as far back as Famitsu's sales archives go). I think they just meant that, in the last 20 years of recording, 11 weeks happens to be the longest. I dunno why they didn't say 25 years, because that would have also been true.
I also dunno if any game (Super Mario Bros. / World for instance) beat that record before 1995, cause Famitsu only has records of total regional sales for that time period, not weekly sales.
I don't think we'll get news in this Direct. It just makes sense for there to be a dedicated Zelda Direct for the 35th anniversary.
That said, we are getting pretty far along. It's been almost two years since the initial announcement of BOTW2, so you just get the feeling it has to be coming sooner rather than later.
@Kuhang I mean, Breath of the Wild was likely nearly complete up to an entire year or more before it finally came out (obviously done to coincide with the Switch launch), so that wouldn't be unheard of
@Kiz3000 Well no matter how beefy the hardware is, it'll ALWAYS be able to push better visuals when it has access to ground power no matter what. It just lets the cards and fans work harder than when in handheld mode. So unless they purposefully hamstring docked performance for some reason, there will never be a situation where docked and handheld performance are the same.
@Clyde_Radcliffe The original can be completed in a single sitting. "Challenging" isn't the right word, nothing in Snap is gonna make you pull your hair out. This ain't gonna be the Dark Souls of animal photography games or anything. The fun of the original was that, while you could take pictures of Pokemon being cute, you'd get more points by being clever and bringing about unique events.
Like, a picture of a Pikachu = good Luring Pikachu to a surfboard with food and getting a pic of him playing on it = great
The original had dozens and dozens of those little situations, and the whole fun of the game was figuring them out. Some of them were quite elaborate, requiring you to basically spend a whole course run setting up a rube goldberg machine to get one specific shot.
@meeto_1 I'm guessing you didn't play the original Pokemon Snap, cause I have a hard time picturing its gameplay incorporated into the main games. Snap isn't just about taking random fun pictures, it's more of a puzzle game where you have to manipulate Pokemon and the environment with tools (often throughout the entire course) to trigger special poses that yield higher scores. There's nothing like it in any of the main games, and if they tried to shoehorn it in it would likely have to be a very simplified version.
@NathanTheAsian Data mining isn't illegal lol. It's not like they're hacking into private servers, all this data was on their personal game cartridge (it's on yours too, if you have the game)
@holygeez03 Probably not, I bet it moved a lot of systems. If I hadn't bought a Switch at launch, I sure would have after E3 2017 with Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2 and Metroid Prime 4 on the horizon.
The demo was terrific. I'll definitely be getting the deluxe edition when I can.
I especially love the "free flight" segments where your ship breaks away from the track and you can just fly around before the drop. I don't think I've seen that in a lot of rhythm games.
@scully1888 No it isn't. Breath of the Wild looked much better. There's more to graphics than draw distance and number of pixels on the screen. The initial footage of Halo Infinite was straight up ugly, something I could never levy against BotW unless you were basically just facing a wall and looking at the texture close up lol
Freaking beautiful game. One of the few games I've 100% completed and then jumped back into days later just to experience the warm, friendly feels it gives me.
@YonVonBlett I'm almost confident this game will be shorter than the original. The first HW was a melting pot of insane Zelda fan fiction ideas, BUT it had absolute unbelievable amounts of content because they could just throw whatever they wanted in there. It takes like 400-500 hours to 100%, not exaggerating.
This feels to me like a more concentrated product with, at the very least, fewer playable characters. I think AoC will be more enjoyable than the first game, but I dunno if it will ever match HW for sheer stuff to do. We'll see I guess :3
@AlphaElite True. I guess that scenario wouldn't make too much sense in this specific case since the Champions ARE supposed to be these OP terrors of the battlefield though, and the enemies by and large ARE supposed to be this mass-summoned mob of overwhelming fodder. Actually the Calamity might be the most appropriate setting for modern Warriors' gameplay ever--certainly more so than feudal China lol
@roy130390 I dunno if I'd want the fodder enemies to be any smarter / harder to kill. That would just make the game even more frustrating imo. Cause think about it, you'd still just be running around from place to place turning red squares blue, it'd just take a lot longer lol
@Kaori-chan Wow I learned a lot of new words today, lol. Thanks for taking the time to write all that.
I think if someone had a gun to my head and told me I HAD to pick one, then I'd pick egg as well. I wouldn't feel good about it though... After all, precisifications aside, the parents of any (viable) chicken egg MUST have also been chickens.
@PaisanoJake @Isaix You guys might like to read the above conversation between @Franz and I. If you think the egg came first, then YOU don't understand how evolution works.
