With this update we have made adjustments to the abilities of certain weapons to effectively hold the line of battle or to ink turf from afar. However, we have limited these adjustments in such a way that they should not affect weapon selection for players experienced with using these weapons.
Following this update, we plan to consider similar adjustments for many other weapons going forward. Additionally, we will continue to watch for and analyze weapons that appear to have few or no drawbacks, and that also perform well against all other weapons.
Nintendo says that the next Splatoon 2 update is planned to release in April 2020.
If you missed it, a new year message shared by the official Japanese Splatoon Twitter account recently hinted at some potential new content. Whether this is a tease for new DLC, a full sequel, or simply just a bit of fun is unclear.

the dev support for this game has been wild
@Xylnox sometimes the best thing to say...is nothing at all.
@Snakesglowcaps but but but um that's not fun at all. Hehe
@Snakesglowcaps an Irish fella called Ronan once said to me - you say it best when you say nothing at all.
Wise beyond his years. Will only be fully Appreciated when he is gone.
@Stocksy
Well, you tell him from me that he makes one great mozzarella stick.
@Bliquid ya, I joke around a lot. Sometimes the jokes are good and sometimes they're not.
@New_Guest as you go up in levels, it will start pairing you more appropriately in Turf War. Once you hit level 10 and unlock Ranked Mode, it'll group you with the C-rank players which will be super easy, but once you get up to the S/S+ ranks, you're up against the pros.
I haven't played this in a while but the buffs to Splattershots seem a bit odd. In my experience they were always one of the more popular and generally considered "good" weapons as is. Unless they got nerfed hard in another patch in the past year or so since I've played actively.
@New_Guest LOL! No hate, just a keen observation on the lack of arms and torsos found on standard Goombas.
I also realize that I'm basing all my Splatoon knowledge on how the game was for me 2 years ago. So, clearly, your milage may vary.
@Xylnox I read that all in Happy's voice fml
@TeslaChippie Hah. Ya, I love Happy and the Fairy Tail anime. His character is really funny.
@New_Guest Git good in ranked, then talk to me.
@Xylnox Not going to lie, they had us in the first half
@Bliquid a very unsuccessful one yes...
@ShadowSmile first of all splatoon isn't getting any content updates - just patches. Second, an AI mode would be extremely easy, and you can already do enough with friends tbh.
@New_Guest yeah, if you've played Splatoon before, when you start a whole new Splatoon 2 game, you will be overpowered. But as your level & success stats build, you will get matched against other players that can crush you. There is a rubber-banding effect. So you can win matches only so long, or lose a bunch of matches only for so long. Which isn't a bad thing. If you're really good, you're losing steaks could be less, though.
Regarding play time, my Splatoon 2 hours-played has dwarfed all other games on my console for the past two years.
WHY DO THEY KEEP MAKING THE SPLASHDOWN STRONGER AND THE BALLER WEAKER
@New_Guest People who play Turf Mode are mainly casuals despite the high levels. They tend to be easier to fight. Ranked Mode is the only way to ensure that you fight people at their best.
@Bliquid yeah Michael Richards took his advice I guess and look where he is now. Ricky Gervais is also a bit outspoken as of late. He gets away with a bit too much if you ask me.
As an Enperry Dualies main, at least there’s a small buff. This is how you do post-launch support for a game.
That's a ridiculous nerf for the already underpowered Nozzlenose... 😡
@New_Guest Idk, I think A+ is pretty okay. I'm S+ in all ranks, pretty close to X in a couple of them.
