@Maxz You’re kinda overthinking it. They’re just comparing May 2024 sales to May 2023. This year’s don’t match up because last May, one of the biggest games ever was released.
If you compare box office results for the month that Avengers: Endgame was released with the same month a year later, I bet the box office was down too. Because one of the biggest movies ever had been released.
I don’t know what most of this article is talking about, but 20 new paintings — alright. I can definitely use those. They could’ve added 20 paintings to the eighth power since the game launched and it wouldn’t be too many.
I wish Nintendo repaired Pro Controllers for free, I’ve had more problems with them over the years (but I also use them much more than I use Joy-Cons).
@Thief The article says “It's worth mentioning the US version of the Switch release is already Version 1.0.3 at launch, so all of the updates in this patch have been applied.”
@Phin68 I remember at least one $99.99 game on Genesis; by that math TOTK would’ve cost $200. So in a sense you could argue we did better. And it’s true that most games today have been $59.99 for some time, while development costs have increased.
On the other hand, I never asked for photorealistic everything (currently playing Stardew Valley — no ray tracing here). And I don’t believe every company who’ll claim they need to charge $70 to recoup costs, when we’ve seen so much greedflation recently. Which leads to the fact that many regular people are hurting. And not just from the last few years; wages have stagnated for my entire lifetime. And there’s no end in sight. So I agree that when push comes to shove, many may simply buy fewer games.
I don’t need these; I don’t even play with Joy-Cons unless forced to. But they looked so nice in the photo that yes I ordered them, they’ll be here tomorrow.
@Diogmites Kinda happy to hear you say that. I tried X a few years ago and hated every minute of it until I dropped it but I thought I was the only one.
@The_Blue_Mage @Tyranexx The pixel remasters just went on sale last month so maybe they thought it was too soon to do it again.
It’s not the most ambitious game, and some people in the article on the demo thought it needed more time in the oven. But they’ve been working on it for five years?
Clearly the delay isn’t an ideal scenario. They’ve said that XCX would be too expensive. Metroid Prime 4 seems unlikely to appear before Switch 2 does. And I don’t imagine they could start designing any amiibo today and still get it in stores by the end of the year.
But Twilight Princess HD, Wind Waker HD, Super Mario Galaxy 2, a Pokémon remake, and Metroid Prime 2 Remastered might be possible. I’d also go for Yoshi’s Woolly World, and a Kirby port. Not sure there’s enough time for Miitopia 2, or the FE4 remake even though it’s been rumored for years.
They could release MK8D with all the DLC on cart if they wanted. Ditto with SSBU. Throw us a bone, and just charge $59.99 each at this point.
Can we get a BoxBoy series compilation, or Pushmo compilation? Maybe Snipperclips 2, Part Time UFO 2, Good Job! 2, or The Stretchers 2? Obviously none of these would be system-sellers, but they were good games, and I’m trying to think small and reasonable. It’s an interesting challenge.
Thanks Sakurai and team. Is it too soon to put in requests for the next game? Ryza and Impa for Smash please. With an Alis Landale spirit, or whatever comes next.
@Ryu_Niiyama That was a real bummer. I’d have bought Byleth (and Robin, for that matter) if there were a female version.

Re: 'Emio' Includes A Lot Of Horrific Mature Themes, According To Its Rating
I honestly have no interest in an M-rated horror game from Nintendo. Not what I go to them for at all.
Re: New RPG From 'Rune Factory' Creator Lands On Switch Next Month
@dojmin To be fair, they would hardly be the first.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Appears To Have amiibo Support
I would buy it in a second if they make it. The first amiibo I ever bought was the Zelda Smash amiibo and I’d love to keep the collection going.
Re: Minecraft's Tricky Trials Update Launches On Switch This June

Re: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Patch Updates Are Already Rolling Out

Which means it remains near unplayable today.
Re: Most Stressful Nintendo Switch Games
Stardew Valley is pretty stressful to me. I need those days to be longer! Too much to get done, not enough time.
Re: Review: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Switch) - An Immersive JRPG With Some Real Problems
That’s too bad, I had my eye on this one. I’ll spring for it if they fix the technical issues. Not like I don’t have enough to play in the meantime.

Re: Saber Interactive CEO Doesn't Think $70 Video Games Are Sustainable
@Phin68 Movies last two hours. If I bought a new Zelda game and it was only two hours long I’d be pretty upset.
Re: Back Page: 'NL Destinations' Presents The Best Vacation Locales On Switch
No Lurelin Village from BOTW? I was sure that would be listed here.
Re: As Switch Approaches The PS2's Lifetime Sales, Sony Widens The Goalposts
Huge success either way. Kudos to Nintendo, I love the Switch.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Princess Peach: Showtime!
FWIW, Destructoid gave it an 8, and Siliconera a 9.
Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate Adding Brand-New Mario Wonder And Princess Peach: Showtime! Spirits
@PikaPhantom Thanks, I clearly forgot all about it. I do remember a disproportionate amount of recent Pokémon.
Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate Adding Brand-New Mario Wonder And Princess Peach: Showtime! Spirits
Nice, I’ll grab these. But no Pikmin 4 or Fire Emblem Engage?

Re: Soapbox: As Splatoon's Online Wraps Up Nearly 9 Years On, How Does It Compare To Splatoon 3?
I played Splatoon 1 much more than I did the sequels combined, it was great fun. May have to break it out before it goes away for good.
Re: Monster Hunter Stories Physical Collection Includes A Download Code (US)
Is there a physical release planned in the US for the first game on its own?
Because I already have the sequel and am not going to buy it again.
Re: Princess Peach: Showtime! Developer Seemingly Revealed In Demo's Code
It’s not the most ambitious game, and some people in the article on the demo thought it needed more time in the oven. But they’ve been working on it for five years?
Re: Talking Point: What DS & 3DS Games Would You Still Like To See On Switch?
They could market Fire Emblem Awakening as a deluxe version if they just added everyone’s feet.
And I said this in another article but I would go for a BoxBoy series compilation, or Pushmo compilation.
Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Isn't Coming Until 2025, What's Nintendo Got Up Its Sleeve This Year?

@link12684 Shulk is $15.99 on the Nintendo store right now.
Re: Hands On: Strategy Fan? You Need To Keep An Eye On Vanillaware's Stunning 'Unicorn Overlord'
@Dissident It was an especially weird comment given that they said they don’t even have time to play the game in the first place.
Anyway, this looks like something special. Can’t wait.
Re: Sakurai Acknowledges End Of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Development
