There aren't very many Jaguar titles anybody would actually want that Atari would have the rights to include here. Attack of the Mutant Penguins is a must, and seems likely to me given the circumstances.
I think it's stupid they ever had legal issues with the soundtrack in the first place on the simple basis of that generally not being a THING in the movie industry but a constant problem for games. Tells me they should've written the contracts better. Once the music is part of the game, it should stay that way in perpetuity.
But this is how things actually are...and while the loss of iconic music is a shame, I don't have a problem with the replacements. Still not buying this without a physical release, though.
Mega Man Legends. Don't bother trying to convince me it doesn't count because they've been doing stuff with OTHER Mega Man properties. Legends has been dead for a full decade after they scrapped the in-development 3DS sequel.
I played this on PS3 back in the day. Game is good for its genre, but I'm not a huge fan. The SOUNDTRACK on the other hand...I still listen to that bad boy to this day.
Little Buddy has been licencing this series in America, and at least some of these are already available on Amazon. The base price is higher, but that may be offset by shipping costs.
Now that I can see the full track list on Play Asia, I can confirm that none of this music is duplicated from the previous release as the article suggests. This release has KK's LIVE performances whereas the last one had airchecks. This one also includes airchecks of the new songs from 2.0...which I only just now learned exist.
I was NEVER happy with Eidos IP wearing the Squenix brand, so I have no problem with this at all. The buyout was during their "Westernization" phase. As Squenix slowly remembers that ALL their fans want good JAPANESE games, they don't need this stuff anymore.
I'm not gonna bother begging these people. I'll make it really simple: no plans for physical release equals no plans to purchase for me. If you get enough of those, you change your mind. If you don't, you don't want our money. Your move, Sega.
The common complaints about shipping times blow my mind. Things got worse for LRG in that regard the same time they did for everybody else. They get various parts of their final products in shipments from different countries (all Switch carts made in Japan, most packaging and included items elsewhere). Anybody going in expecting shipping as fast as it used to be is insane.
I have also never had a problem with their customer service. They're always quick to respond and helpful in my experience. Regarding Doom...suffice to say regardless of LRG's spotty online reputation, I still trust them more than freaking BETHESDA. Why people discount the possibility this is all THEIR fault is entirely beyond me.
I have one...I got that edition for the included season pass and forgot a minifig was even in the box until I opened it. I sure wouldn't pay much for it.
I made such a comment on an official Nintendo Facebook post about the delay. It just makes sense since they've been going strong on the "annual franchise" thing for Switch.
I've already unlocked every single icon piece currently available. And author...Odyssey icons are changing weekly. Don't count out wedding Bowser too soon.
It is possible to play a lot a spend little in a well-designed mobile game. Unfortunately, Squenix is infamously greedy and does NOT design its mobile games well at all. I say this as a former KH Cross addict. In my experience, the only mobile games that ARE designed well are made by small teams or even solo devs. Big companies are nearly incapable of resisting the siren song of anti-consumer monetization.
@EarthboundBenjy This one slipped past most Westerners as a Japan-only game. I am aware it's got a cult following and probably a fan translation, but that's also a super niche scene.
Not just planning to, I already started! With all the controversy over possible input lag, I was concerned how well action commands would work. Saved in Koopa Village, and it's working just fine so far.
@BongoBongo I think they tend to do that if they don't have any sporty clothes they like in particular. Could be wrong, just a theory based on observation.
Following IGN's lead of wrong reviewer for a game, are we? Look, I'm not the biggest Dr. Mario fan...but this is IMO the single best game in the series and certainly better than this crappy review would suggest. It's also a game I thought they'd never bother to rerelease at all, so I'm really happy it's here.
I always play Minecraft in a parallel fashion...but it doesn't work the same on a console with no standing server. As a result, it's common for whatever we're doing to only last one or two play sessions and then be abandoned until next time the game sounds fun.
@EmmatheBest Sadly, no. As I understand it, Squenix has tried to look into re-releasing Quintet games, but they've been unable to nail down the full rights. They did Actraiser on Wii VC and nothing else ever, so I guess that didn't end well for whatever reason.
I finished a 100% playthrough today, took around 18 hours. Sure, short for the genre and these guys' previous work. I get sucked in by fairly shallow characters more easily than some and actually LIKE the simplistic puzzle-platforming for a change of pace. I also felt the story had some pretty solid twists. Not on the level of Zero Escape or Danganronpa, but still a fun game. I do not regret the $50 physical copy purchase.
Snagged the limited edition set on Amazon. Nintendo so rarely makes it this easy to get soundtracks in America, I absolutely could NOT pass up the opportunity.
I care so little about Monster Hunter that those three are the very first North American released amiibo I'm skipping. Feels weird after all these years and like...200ish figures but I just can't make myself want them. And I even got the Dark Souls and Diablo amiibo even though I don't really play those either.
Sounds fantastic...saw this game on the preorder list at Best Buy before, but needed to know more about it. Well, order placed! Shame the physical release doesn't come until May though.
I agree hype leads to disappoint, no matter how good a game really is. I've pretty consistently had a better time with games I didn't know much of anything about before purchase than hype machine titles. Most of them I get from Limited Run Games because I'm buying ALL of the numbered Switch releases. It's expensive, but it's a great way to stumble upon some gems if you can afford it.
This comment thread is the first I've heard of censorship...and I'd like to know the difference between that and "changing jokes that aged badly." It does depend WHY they aged badly, after all. I want to give some benefit of the doubt since this remaster crew was apparently around for the first release too. I expect more outrageous cuts to happen when new people come in and mess with stuff.
@Abeedo Because Z is the best letter, of course! My name is the most common Z name (Zachary), but it still gets bonus cool points for being a Z name at all.
More like 99% docked or higher, but not a pure 100%. I took a handheld Animal Crossing break in the middle of upgrading my TV a week ago...but that's the ONLY handheld time I've had in months. It was more common when I hurt my back earlier this year and had long car rides to physical therapy though.
I pretty much won't pay full price for an eShop game at this point and often hold out for discounts more than 50% off. This is by no means because I'm cheap as my large collection of expensive PHYSICAL Switch games proves. I just don't value digital-only media because of ownership issues. I bought a lot of stuff on the Wii Shop Channel...fat lotta good that does me now.
I haven't bought Not Tonight simply because I don't want it at any price. If this publisher keeps the prices of other games high, I'll simply pass them by, even though I do WANT to play Hypnospace Outlaw. Or they could do physical releases...then I'll pay MORE than eShop full price for good stuff.
Technically, my Switch is rarely out of the dock so its charge displays as 100% most of the time. I have no idea how this might impact the battery long-term.
This really does seem like a pointless move. The vast majority of potential customers for Deluxe never had a Wii U anyhow, and it wasn't exactly likely that those who did would choose NOW to download the original version. No way the good outweighs the bad PR here.

Re: Feature: An Interview With ZANE_ROCKS_36, The Cool Dude Behind DOOM-Style Shooter 'Slayers X'
Just finished Hypnospace Outlaw a couple days ago. Spoilers (which are also referenced in the game trailer) below:
I look forward to finding out how Zane survived. While I didn't much like the little turd in HO, I didn't think he deserved his end.
