Re: Here's How Sonic 3's New Music In Sonic Origins Stacks Up To The Classics

Stuffgamer1

I think it's stupid they ever had legal issues with the soundtrack in the first place on the simple basis of that generally not being a THING in the movie industry but a constant problem for games. Tells me they should've written the contracts better. Once the music is part of the game, it should stay that way in perpetuity.

But this is how things actually are...and while the loss of iconic music is a shame, I don't have a problem with the replacements. Still not buying this without a physical release, though.

Re: Feature: How Limited Run's New Engine Respects The Legacy Of Classic Games

Stuffgamer1

The common complaints about shipping times blow my mind. Things got worse for LRG in that regard the same time they did for everybody else. They get various parts of their final products in shipments from different countries (all Switch carts made in Japan, most packaging and included items elsewhere). Anybody going in expecting shipping as fast as it used to be is insane.

I have also never had a problem with their customer service. They're always quick to respond and helpful in my experience. Regarding Doom...suffice to say regardless of LRG's spotty online reputation, I still trust them more than freaking BETHESDA. Why people discount the possibility this is all THEIR fault is entirely beyond me.

Re: Octopath Traveler: Champions Of The Continent Beta Sign-Ups Go Live On Android

It is possible to play a lot a spend little in a well-designed mobile game. Unfortunately, Squenix is infamously greedy and does NOT design its mobile games well at all. I say this as a former KH Cross addict. In my experience, the only mobile games that ARE designed well are made by small teams or even solo devs. Big companies are nearly incapable of resisting the siren song of anti-consumer monetization.

Re: Mini Review: Dr. Mario 64 - Diagnosis: A Bit Rubbish

Stuffgamer1

Following IGN's lead of wrong reviewer for a game, are we? Look, I'm not the biggest Dr. Mario fan...but this is IMO the single best game in the series and certainly better than this crappy review would suggest. It's also a game I thought they'd never bother to rerelease at all, so I'm really happy it's here.

Re: Review: World's End Club - A Real Looker Spoiled By Hit-And-Miss Storytelling

Stuffgamer1

I finished a 100% playthrough today, took around 18 hours. Sure, short for the genre and these guys' previous work. I get sucked in by fairly shallow characters more easily than some and actually LIKE the simplistic puzzle-platforming for a change of pace. I also felt the story had some pretty solid twists. Not on the level of Zero Escape or Danganronpa, but still a fun game. I do not regret the $50 physical copy purchase.

Re: Poll: Which amiibo Arrived On Your Doorstep Today, Then?

Stuffgamer1

I care so little about Monster Hunter that those three are the very first North American released amiibo I'm skipping. Feels weird after all these years and like...200ish figures but I just can't make myself want them. And I even got the Dark Souls and Diablo amiibo even though I don't really play those either.

Re: Soapbox: The Modern Games Industry Has A Hype Problem, And It Needs To Stop

Stuffgamer1

I agree hype leads to disappoint, no matter how good a game really is. I've pretty consistently had a better time with games I didn't know much of anything about before purchase than hype machine titles. Most of them I get from Limited Run Games because I'm buying ALL of the numbered Switch releases. It's expensive, but it's a great way to stumble upon some gems if you can afford it.

Re: Skunkape Games Confirms Remasters Of Sam & Max Season 2 And 3

Stuffgamer1

Need those physical copies, lads.

This comment thread is the first I've heard of censorship...and I'd like to know the difference between that and "changing jokes that aged badly." It does depend WHY they aged badly, after all. I want to give some benefit of the doubt since this remaster crew was apparently around for the first release too. I expect more outrageous cuts to happen when new people come in and mess with stuff.

Re: Poll: Do You Play Your Switch More In Docked Or Handheld Mode?

Stuffgamer1

More like 99% docked or higher, but not a pure 100%. I took a handheld Animal Crossing break in the middle of upgrading my TV a week ago...but that's the ONLY handheld time I've had in months. It was more common when I hurt my back earlier this year and had long car rides to physical therapy though.

Re: Feature: No More Robots Boss On How Switch eShop Is Pushing Publishers To Game The System

Stuffgamer1

I pretty much won't pay full price for an eShop game at this point and often hold out for discounts more than 50% off. This is by no means because I'm cheap as my large collection of expensive PHYSICAL Switch games proves. I just don't value digital-only media because of ownership issues. I bought a lot of stuff on the Wii Shop Channel...fat lotta good that does me now.

I haven't bought Not Tonight simply because I don't want it at any price. If this publisher keeps the prices of other games high, I'll simply pass them by, even though I do WANT to play Hypnospace Outlaw. Or they could do physical releases...then I'll pay MORE than eShop full price for good stuff.
