Re: Sorry, Contrary to Rumours the New Nintendo 3DS Will be Region Locked

Stuffgamer1

@Azooooz: Since region-locking is an inherently software-based thing nowadays, it theoretically COULD, yes. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.

@XCWarrior: It's not just about Japanese games, y'know. I have more PAL DS games than Japanese anyway, simply because publishers (third-party AND Nintendo themselves) couldn't be bothered to release their products in America. Then you have the PAL gamers who had to import the likes of Retro Game Challange...you get the point. Sure, you COULD import Japanese titles and muddle through (I did so on Tingle's Balloon Fight since it's not text-heavy anyway), but this is really more about accessibility for games already in English for a lot of us.

Re: Tappingo 2 Release Pushed Back a Week on Nintendo of America's Advice

Stuffgamer1

@HugoSmits I guess so...really, it's a perspective I have a hard time relating to because I NEVER go to Nintendo.com or the eShop to just browse randomly...and if I did, I'd be happy to see more games available in the various categories, "featured" slots be damned. Meanwhile...well, gamers are known for being selfish, and I've been waiting for this since I finished the first one! Not an excuse...just being honest.

To be equally honest, one week delay doesn't mean as much as I get older, so meh. Just an interesting discussion point, IMO.

Re: Tappingo 2 Release Pushed Back a Week on Nintendo of America's Advice

Stuffgamer1

What came out today that would compete with this, exactly? Sure, there were three 3DS eShop games, but they're all VERY different titles. I'd get it if they were all puzzlers as well, but I think this is another case of Nintendo being overly concerned about nothing. There's nothing for me on 3DS this week (except Layton v. Feenie, but that's retail and I don't really count that), especially with another lack of VC. Sure, I like the expanded VC support on Wii U, but why do that at the cost of the other platform? Some of these NES games could at least be getting simultaneous release...and that's coming from someone who doesn't even want NES games on 3DS (just it's better to get them out for those who want them instead of wasting time like this).

Aaaaaanyway...nothing for me, but I totally would've bought this in a heartbeat. To me, this is a delay without purpose.

Re: These Official Wisdom Tree T-Shirts Are So Bad, They're Great

Stuffgamer1

@sketchturner: I'm with you there. I also like the Bible Buffet one, though...it's pretty tempting.

For those who are not aware, a new 20th anniversary version of Super Noah's Ark 3D is actually on Steam Greenlight right now. It's quite interesting to see Wisdom Tree coming back into the public eye, especially as a legit fan of some of their work.

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th July (North America)

Stuffgamer1

@SparkOfSpirit: I had no idea this had ever happened before...that makes me feel a little better about it.

@brooks83: I didn't know there were any problems with it. I DO know that since it was a PAL import, it actually ran at 50hz on Wii...I compared it to the Japanese version and the difference was obvious. Are you talking about that or something else?

Re: Nintendo Goes Download-Only With The 2014 Club Nintendo Elite Rewards

Stuffgamer1

My reward for spending a lot of money on Nintendo products is...a free download of a bunch of games I already own. WAY TO GO, MORONS! After all the previous years' rewards, this could only be a bigger letdown if they said "sorry, your Elite status gets you NOTHING this year." I thought the point of a customer loyalty program was to make people HAPPY they're spending so much money on you...

@Spartacus3765: Don't forget Doc Louis' Punch-Out!! the first year...that's what I took instead of the hat. Sure, it was a downloadable game...but it wasn't available any other way!

Re: Best Buy's 20% eShop Card Discount is Back

Stuffgamer1

I'm no Best Buy regular...but this deal is enough to make me go there now and then. That said, I still have a good bit left on my account from the LAST time this deal ran...sad result of such slow releases. So I really don't NEED more right now anyway.

Re: Remake Request: ActRaiser

Stuffgamer1

This is definitely a classic for me, and I do very much want to see it on Wii U VC at the least...but we still have NO Squenix Wii U VC support outside of Japan so far... sigh

Re: Matters of Import: Dessert-Based Adventures With Kaeru No Tame Ni Kane Wa Naru

Stuffgamer1

@Mk_II: True, the copyright is in place...but a company can't PROSECUTE without showing damages, and if they aren't selling you the product, there are no damages to be shown. It's a weird legal loophole, but very useful for retro fans who don't want to see obscure games fade for no good reason.

I have played the fan translation of this game...of course, there's only one way to do that, and I'm sorry if it offends some of you for some bizarre reason. Let it be known that I would gladly pay for the game if it WAS released in English...for whatever that's worth.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Studio Comcept Facing Fan Backlash Over Community Manager Appointment

Stuffgamer1

@TheGZeus: THANK YOU! I'm amazed I had to go THAT far down to finally see the word "egalitarian" used. For the record, everybody, the definition of the word:

"of, relating to, or believing in the principle that all people are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities."

For the record also, I too wish gender could be easily ignored...but that's COMPLETELY unrealistic. It could certainly be handled better than it is now, but total literal equality is literally impossible due to biology. In order for us to be truly equal, we'd have to be gender-non-specific...like snails.

You wanna stand up for equal rights? Great! But don't use a gender-charged word to do so. As it stands, I don't have a problem with this woman getting a job YET. I WILL have a problem when and if any Social Justice Warrior activity seeps into the job itself. She's a community manager, and she can NOT afford to rile up this kind of hate and discontent in said community.

Re: Parent Trap: Children Are Our Future, So Let Them Play

Stuffgamer1

Funny...when I played the Baseball game with my brother, I kicked his donkey very unsubtly and we agreed it wasn't worth returning to. Honestly I don't think there's all that much to come back to on Wii Party U in general...certainly not like I would have hoped. But let's be fair, here...I'm the youngest in the house at 24, so mileage may vary wildly by age.

A game we DO keep coming back to is Sketch in Game & Wario. So simple, but loads of fun anyway.

Re: Review: Goof Troop (Super Nintendo)

Stuffgamer1

This is the co-opingest game ever.

I grew up playing with my brother...he always took Goofy while I played Max. We've been through it many times, but it's always a blast.

On another note...we NEVER got tired of the music. I consider this game an outstanding example of SUPERB composition, because it takes some serious skill to not annoy the player with music in less than one-minute loops that plays for the entire level like this.

Re: Review: Clu Clu Land (Wii U eShop / NES)

Stuffgamer1

@VoiceOfReason: Because SOME of us like this game, and Nintendo wants to sell to us. Granted, I think it'd be even better if ALL of the good games were released, but we take what we can get. I was truly happy to see we were getting Clu Clu Land, and I can see I'm not alone.

"It becomes even more difficult in later stages, where finding gold becomes much more challenging; not only will you have to pass through a gold location twice for it to be uncovered, but you must also avoid going back over it afterwards, as doing so will rebury it!"

Dang, I've never gotten far enough to see all that happen!

Re: Working With Western Developers Is All About Trust, Says Miyamoto

Stuffgamer1

Had to look up Monster Games. Nowhere near the level of the other two, but they're okay. For those who don't know (like myself until just now): The Excite series since Truck and Pilotwings Resort. Kinda pales compared to Metroid Prime and Luigi's Mansion, huh?

Anyway yeah, more Western team-ups would be good. Expand that portfolio. Fill gaps in release schedules. You can do it, Nintendo...just try already!

Re: Review: Jewel Adventures (DSiWare)

Stuffgamer1

Got a freebie...about an hour and four missions in, no glitches yet. Pretty fun game, but I don't know if it's worth $5 or not. Really just feels odd playing a recent DSiWare release. Wish it was 3DS instead so the resolution would be right. sigh

Re: Nintendo Comments On EarthBound's Inflated Pricing

Stuffgamer1

I think that defence would work better if there was a precident for variable pricing on Wii U VC...some of the games on there sure aren't worth the asking price. EarthBound totally is though, so I'm not too fussed about it.

@Expa0: Thing is, it actually IS a selling point. Doesn't matter how little you think of it, people ARE that interested in this game.

@Objection: Yeah, Nintendo tends to be out of touch, but I really don't think anybody knows ALL the details abiut the game's delays. At any rate, I don't think "screw them" is an appropriate responce to them FINALLY releasing the game we were begging for.
