We had high praise for Blaster Master Zero and its sequel when they first launched, giving them 8/10 stars and 9/10 stars respectively. Inti Creates has successfully revived this old school action-platformer series and yesterday, we received news that Blaster Master Zero 3 is coming out on July 29th, bringing us a conclusion to this new storyline.
Following this, Inti Creates has also announced a trilogy set in Japan. Calling it the Blaster Master Zero Trilogy: Metafight Chronicle, this bundles all three games into one package, including all previously released DLC. Uniquely, each character is also fully-voiced for this release.
The standard edition will launch for ¥6,578 ($60), though fans can also pick up a limited edition at ¥9,878 ($91). That includes an art book of illustrations from all three games, alongside a soundtrack arrangement from the Inti Creates Sound Team.
Sadly, there's no news on whether we'll get a Western release for this just yet. However, given that Limited Run Games' published physical editions of the previous entries, we remain hopeful it'll come in some form.
Would you pick up the MetaFight Chronicle set? Let us know down below.

This is annoying as someone who bought the first two games as individual titles in a collector's edition set.
@RupeeClock I bought the standard Limited Run editions and I'm still pissed off...guess I'll either get this and sell those or wait out for an LR release of the third one...
Not sure how I feel about Blaster Master yet, need to play more of it. But physical collections are always welcome.
Sweet. I guess the japanese Trilogy Pack will also contain English Text, since every previous individual Release on the japanese eShop was playable in Japanese and English.
I'm definetly gonna buy it, if that's the case.
Glad I held off on the LRG releases, now I can just import this.
I’m happy for this news, but definitely feel the pain of those who bought the first two games in their separate physical releases (or especially that expensive collectors edition 2-pack). I very nearly caved myself!
You’d think LRG would have saved the special edition treatment for when the trilogy was complete. 😑
I suppose there will be a new deluxe release from LRG incoming, but I may settle for this import!
I hope there's a trilogy release over here, otherwise I'll have to import the Japanese art book edition. It's the sort of thing Play-Asia should be getting.
I adore the first two games, they're right at the top of my Switch games list when I sort by time played, with only Mario Odyssey and Tetris 99 ahead of them.
Edit: Just pre-ordered on Play-Asia. 😉
Nice, I look forward to news about part 3.
If it comes to Europe then I'll definitely buy. Such cool games.
@RupeeClock can always sell those, likely for a profit. I was looking at buying them off ebay last night and each goes for at least $50.
I'm sure demand won't vanish with this release, since it's usually collectors that want to have every single physical game that tend to buy this stuff.
I am likely just going to import this one via Play Asia, but should limited run anounce the third in stand alone format, I might be still tempted to buy all 3 separately.
kind of annoying since i just got the lrg of the first 2(which is fantastic btw), with that said i wonder if they plan to do something with them again, it's safe to assume they'll do something for the 3rd entry but i wonder if they'll do anything with the 3 pack?
@Teksetter to be fair lrg doesn't have any say on when companies want to make sequels
Glad i didnt buy the first two physical. If this comes to the US its a definite buy for me. Im really good Inti-Creates was able to turn Blaster Master into a top notch trilogy of games.
people who bought the previous physical editions can just sell them... I got digital versions and DLCs
Does this mean Blaster Master Zero 3 won't be getting DLC?!
That's a shame if so...
My CE set of the first two only just arrived, and now they're making it obsolete? Not cool!
"Following this, Inti Creates has also announced a trilogy set in Japan."
This is slightly confusing writing. I was so pumped for a separate trilogy taking place in Japan.
