Re: Isaiah TriForce Johnson and Captain Nintendo Dude Get in Line for the Nintendo Switch Launch

Storytime7

@Kyranosaurus Despite most people on this site being Nintendo fans, a lot of people here are not supportive at all of Nintendo fans devoted enough to do something like this. These kind of comments show up frequently whenever there's an article about speedrunning, or competitive Super Smash Bros. It sucks that so many people on this site are always negative, but I guess that's what happens when there's a large community on a single site.

Re: Zelda Fans Vent Anger At Nintendo of America Over Doge Memes In Tri Force Heroes

Storytime7

@Dr_Lugae Majora's Mask is too brilliant a game for one pop culture reference to make it feel dated. Besides, I would argue that what Majora's Mask did with the alien side quest is more original than just throwing in a simple meme reference. I don't think the aliens in that game are a good comparison to what some people are complaining about in Triforce Heroes. They're both references to pop culture, but one game actually does something with that instead of just throwing it in the game because someone will find it funny.

Re: Zelda Fans Vent Anger At Nintendo of America Over Doge Memes In Tri Force Heroes

Storytime7

@MegaWatts For the record, I'm not that bothered by this. I'm arguing in favor of the people against this because I think a lot of commenters are not seeing why some people are upset about this. Individual references are okay, but I would imagine this has blown up because people could see these kinds of pop culture references someday ending up in a mainline Zelda, or even Metroid. It's not that referencing memes here and there completely ruin a game, but that it could spread to other Nintendo games if nobody complains about it. People wouldn't complain if the meme didn't exist because it would be an original joke, not something that anybody could think of.

I was not calling you unprofessional to dismiss your argument. I was arguing against your point because I believe you are not seeing it from the perspective of the people that are upset about this, not because I claimed you were being unprofessional.

As for why I called your post unprofessional, the reason is simple. You said people who are more or less saying "Nintendo of America can do a better job than this" were "stupid" for arguing it dates the game, and implied you think it's pathetic that anybody would be upset about this. Isn't one of the rules of this site to respect everyone's right to their own opinions? I called you out because if even admins have that kind of tone in their posts, then why would other users on this site be respectful?

Re: Zelda Fans Vent Anger At Nintendo of America Over Doge Memes In Tri Force Heroes

Storytime7

@MegaWatts Wow, some of the admins on this site sure are unprofessional. Maybe others are fine with this kind of trashy writing, but it's understandable why some do not want to see it. The less people complain about it, the more acceptable it becomes for Nintendo to keep doing this.

There's nothing invalid about saying it will date the game. Memes are generally used until people get sick of them, and find something else to spread around. People are not referring to the gameplay when they say this will date the game, but that it will leave a bad taste in people's mouths in a few years once everyone is over the memes they referenced. It's a lazy way to get laughs.

Re: Zelda Fans Vent Anger At Nintendo of America Over Doge Memes In Tri Force Heroes

Storytime7

Nintendo should not put this garbage in games it has no place in. Memes are fine in games like Splatoon where it's more fitting because of the miiverse posts and overall tone of the game, but putting it in most other games is a lazy attempt at humor that will only make the game's dialogue feel dated in a few years. How is it funny that Nintendo referenced a meme? You can see thousands of references to memes on the internet that don't require buying a video game. These kinds of references in official Nintendo games are lazy because anybody could make that same joke. There's nothing clever or original about it. Not good for a company that some would say is all about making timeless games.

It's ridiculous for people to say that nobody should be upset about this. Consumers have every right to complain about bad trends that have appeared in Nintendo games more often lately because saying nothing means it will happen in more games they release.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Competitive Scene Gets Shaken Up as ZeRo is Finally Defeated

Storytime7

The comment sections on this site are always so toxic when it's about competitive Smash. I guess that's what happens when so many people blindly accept whatever the game's creator believes is the right way to play the game instead of understanding that games can be played however they allow players to do so. There isn't even a single person that commented so far who congratulated Nairo on winning, just hate for players in the scene right from the get-go.

It's good to see that other players can win tournaments that ZeRo enters. More competition is always a good thing, and both players did a great job.

@XCWarrior At least he's not whining on the internet, and being jealous that other people are more well known than him. It doesn't matter if he's actually upset about losing, congratulating the other player is the exact opposite of being a sore loser.

Re: Talking Point: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Would be No Surprise, as Nostalgia Rules for Nintendo

Storytime7

@DarkKirby Yes, and some of the games Nintendo has remade (Majora's Mask) were also ones that fans asked for. None of the Zelda remakes have been lazy. OoT, MM, and WW all had improvements made to the gameplay in addition to looking better.

I don't see how remakes on other platforms are different. I just see you making it out to be a bad thing when Nintendo fans are excited about a remake.

Re: Talking Point: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Would be No Surprise, as Nostalgia Rules for Nintendo

Storytime7

@DarkKirby Did you see the reactions to the FFVII remake?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kznek1uNVsg

Over 12 million views on the announcement trailer speaks for itself. Getting excited over a remake is not something that only Nintendo fans do. A lot of re-releases other platforms have been getting lately are games that are not that old (The Last of Us, Tomb Raider, etc), so there's not as much of a reason for people to get excited about the improvements that can be made.

Re: Nintendo Has "Moved On" From Game Boy Games on the 3DS Virtual Console

Storytime7

@Ralizah I think Nintendo is better with re-releasing older games this gen. Not everything from the Wii VC is there, but many games that were never on the Wii VC have been re-released this gen. I played a lot of GB/GBC games (DK '94, Game & Watch Gallery, Shantae, etc) for the first time because of the 3DS VC, so I'm satisfied with how it turned out.

As for the Wii U VC, I'm always up for playing GBA games. I know a lot of people wanted these games on the 3DS, but I'm just glad they're being re-released at all. Playing these games on the Wii U is at least more convenient than playing them on a GBA. Wii games and even some games people did not expect (DK 64) have also been re-released on the Wii U.

Re: Nintendo Has "Moved On" From Game Boy Games on the 3DS Virtual Console

Storytime7

@Uberchu We need it because some people enjoy replaying games from their childhood, or playing games they may have missed out on. Some of these games would be hard to legally obtain without the virtual console.

@sc100 Mario & Luigi Paper Jam, Fire Emblem Fates, Federation Force, and Bravely Second are releasing next year. If they get localized, there's also Rhythm Heaven: The Best+, Ace Attorney 6, and Monster Hunter X. Even without mentioning everything releasing in 2016, next year already seems better for the 3DS than this year was.

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th September (North America)

Storytime7

Probably just the Mercenaries Saga 2 demo for me. I remember hearing good things about it on this site, so I might as well check it out. I might eventually get Happy Home Designer, but I'll hold off for now because there are other games coming out that I'm more interested in.

Re: Mario History: Super Mario Galaxy - 2007

Storytime7

I've been replaying Galaxy recently, and it really is a wonderful game. It came out in 2007, but it doesn't feel that old because of how brilliant it still is. It's not perfect, but I can see why others say this is one of the best games of all time. Definitely one of my favorite Mario games.

Re: Mario Memories: Basking in the Glow of Super Mario Sunshine

Storytime7

@Donutman I try to complete all the 3D Mario games 100%, so playing Sunshine ended up being a real patience tester for me. There's a great game somewhere in there, but Sunshine's problems are hard to ignore. Most of the problems are more obvious when going for 100%, so that's why I'd recommend others just stick to the missions that are required to beat the game.

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th August (North America)

Storytime7

Golden Sun 2 and Citizens of Earth. I'll wait for a price drop on EO2U, and a review for that Onimusha game.

@Hero-of-WiiU Fusion is so good. I just recently finished replaying it, and it's easily one of my favorite Metroid games. You'll almost never get lost in Fusion, but there's always plenty of exploration because of the item upgrades you can find.
