We're treated yet again to a brand new map to try and out-splat our foes: this time it's the long-awaited Camp Triggerfish that's been teased for far longer than the game's been on shelves.
Camp Triggerfish is a symmetrical but strangely portion map that allows you to easily infiltrate your enemy's spawn at the cost of your foe being able to do exactly the same. There are water hazards throughout and looks of little nooks and crannies that can be easily missed. Any new map is a good map in our books.

...Eh, I'll play it once they decide to bring back Tower Control. :c
@Megumi Who knows when that'll be.
@Aromaiden I'm sure it'll be up next, usually a new map when introduced features in the first few rotations.
Camp Triggerfish is certainly the most complex map yet anyway.I thought it was too big my first couple of games as I hardly saw anyone but I guess everyone was just figuring it out.Had a few battles where one of us were ahead by a large margin totally turn the other way once the floodgates opened. The game just keeps getting better and better, can't wait to see what they've got in store for us next.
Easily my favorite levelfor Splat zone, like Bluefin Depot w/o all the verticals.
What Im looking for now is news about a bucket and gatling gun, unless Miiverse is just full of trolls tonight?
@rjejr They're real. There's a trailer for those new weapons on GameXplain's youtube channel.
I think that Chargers are OP in Splat Zones here. Camping one zone while sniping on the other.
All hail the mighty Ink Bucket. (I give them credit for creativity.)
Tried to play this new level but the game forced me to play the skate park level 8 times in a row so I gave up. But I shouldn't complain. We should all be happy for what they allow us to do after purchasing the game for only 60 dollars. It's not like I took the effort to track down amiibos and spend another 40 dollars to unlock content of the game. It's my fault. This game is so awesome!
@theberrage The game's gameplay and mechanics are pretty awesome, the bad parts are the design choices made by Nintendo.
@Aromaiden what design choicesz?
@briwipdx The map rotations and the matchmaking are the main two design issues, but there are a few other things.
@Aromaiden you'd prefer a more customized stage slection and established team-based events? for competition i get thT. i see ur point.
but somehow the way theyve done it tho allows EVR1 to play,
and this game excels becuz of that.
i can understand the complaints but some of these design choices have also allowed a more approachable-evrey1-fun atmosphere for which nintendo is so known. its hard to critique this game imho
@briwipdx I won't go into too deep of a discussion because I prefer to avoid that, but my main point is that those features need to be improved because at the moment they are fairly flawed. While the game may appeal to everyone, it could still use some improvement in several areas. Most of which they can do through patching it up and updating it, and it can only get better by fixing it's previous flaws and issues.
@Aromaiden im just failing to grasp these flaws and issues u mention,
and yet i totally understand ur position, there are always things to improve on.
its just so FUN! outside of the player wanting it to be more of a competition and less of a pure game for gamings sake, which is ultimately something nintendo never tends to do, i think it is pure-good-awesome-super-happy-color-ink gaming at its best. and nintendos design influence has made it so. we'll just hafta agree to disagree. but lets both keep playin
A pretty Fresh map. Loving the variety we have now.
I'm actually enjoying /not/ being able to choose my maps. Forces me to pick a weapon I think I can work with on more than one stage, and contributes to the feel that every match feels fresh. I think it's good that players are forced to adapt to this instead of getting into a comfort zone.
I think the process in general can be refined, but I'm pretty satisfied with this first game. I'll look forward to the inevitable sequel, though I'm sure that won't be for quite some time.
@briwipdx It is a really fun game! Nintendo Life gave it a 9/10 in the review. If they review it again in 5 years will it maintain that score? Only time will tell, I guess. Nintendo may release enough content to sustain a fun game after the party is over or we may find it in abundance in bargain bins at record low sales price.
Awesome! That's the one stage I was interested in the most. Sadly, it's still been quite a while since I've played Splatoon. Everyone's probably at high ranks by now.
@theberrage Nah. Nintendo never drops their game's prices. It takes ages.
At first I disliked the stage just like with Moray Towers, and before that Bluefin Depot, and before that, well you get the picture; but after spending a few matches in the camp, I grown to like it, especially after the 1 minute mark in turf war.
