@banacheck I think having a partnership with Konami, Sega, and Capcom for classic franchises right out of the gate will help a lot of people get on board.
@TheRealThanos Yeah I'm aware of frequency illusion. I like using Baader-Meinhof because it makes people want to google it and then all of a sudden they will see Baader-Meinhof everywhere.
I think they really need to do what Sony is doing net-ing a lot of exclusivity. Street Fighter V being a PS4 console exclusive is a bigger deal, regardless of what you think of the game. Nintendo could really use the relationship and proximity it has to Japanese devs to rope in some strong third party AAA titles. Imagine if the next Mega Man, Castlevania, Sonic, were all Nintendo exclusive. It'd be the SNES and NES all over again with the big Japanese titles hitting their systems.
I don't see them getting much luck from big American publishers like EA and Activision, they sorta have a good relationship with UbiSoft so they could possibly get some deals with them.
And of course, getting more and more of their IPs on their own system. The game droughts are ridiculous on their systems, even if they do produce super quality titles. They need to use the huge dev teams they have on their side and get more titles out there. Maybe even give some Indies rights to their IPs.
@Gridatttack Well I know that's not right. I specifically remember being able to go to the options menu in the game, flip a setting and boom all games 1-6 have new music. Because I for sure didn't hit the gallery for said music. And I know it was the gamecube version because I didn't have a ps2 growing up.
@gba_girl Well I guess a lot of people would prefer the PS2 version instead. But no, I don't remember the buttons being reversed, Pretty sure A is jump and B is shot. You also get to switch weapons with the L and R buttons instead of going into the select screen. Which I found very nice.
@Gridatttack Ah well, I know it has some tracks in it. I believe 1-6 had a new soundtrack available, which is more than you can say for the Legacy Collection I guess.
Need to add option for Mega Man "I'm only getting it for the gold Mega Man Amiibo".
I have the gamecube version which is totally superior to what's on the 3DS. Not only do you also get 7 and 8, but you also get two of the arcade games, a redone soundtrack, and some maps and tips for each level in the games.
If they included 9 and 10 in the collection I could see it being worth it. But the gamecube version is about the same price and gamecubes are totally cheap nowadays. The only plus to this I see is the HD/3D support (I don't actually know if ti has 3D support).
Let's just say for how many times Capcom have re-released these games, they could've done better on making the collection more enticing.
I'm pretty sure Super Mario Bros Z does not reflect Mario's normal IP specifications. I haven't watched it, but how true to the characters is he being in all honesty.
I can totally understand Nintendo not wanting someone to profit off of their characters, especially when they may not be respecting the integrity of the characters in the first place.
@Socar I mean there are a few examples of otherwise. Batman The Brave and the Bold was decent. Ducktales Remastered of course is sublime. One or two of the Adventure Time games are ok.
I think the real problem is their licensed titles tend to be handled by a different creative team while their employees are outsourced for work. So the idea isn't really their own, they are just asked to make a product. So if the idea isn't any good, they aren't going to make something good out of it. Mind you that's just what I assume. I don't know if it's the case.
I don't think the production quality of the product can be brought into question though. It looks nice for what it is, has some neat looking 2D art. It just may not be very fun.
I think we may see some Pre-E3 stuff in April. But I don't expect a direct until E3 otherwise. Nintendo is probably still reconstructing their business after the passing of Iwata, and aren't quite sure how to handle a direct without Iwata's guidance.
That said, I'm sure we'll continue to get announcements through their twitter like we have been lately.
I hope it has a decent ranking system as opposed to Smash's convoluted "Global Smash Power" that really means nothing. I have no idea what rank system Tekken has, but hopefully if it's good Namco incorporated it.
@Octane When most people tend to only play 1 or 2 characters. 16 is plenty. That said, it makes for some boring tournaments because everyone plays the same character.
Then again Smash has almost 60 characters and most people play Sheik or ZSS.
I'm buying this mainly for collector's purposes. I don't really approve of the method of DLC. Although Koei Tecmo is infamous for these expansion pack deals where they release the same game again but with more content.
My feelings on this all depend on a few factors. Will he look like the video game Sonic we love or will they make a new design that's all ugly and realstic, and will they use an established storyline from the Sonic series or are they gonna make something new up.
These games got such terrible reviews when they first came out. mostly because they were the same game constantly. But I don't see why that's a bad thing, if you like the formula why change it? I love this series a lot as well as it's sucessor, Mega Man Star Force. I played these series over Pokemon back when they came out.
I guess a lot of the texture definitely look better. I guess it's hard to update a game that already looked great to begin with. The only thing I'd say they should've done was update the models a bit.
Also it looks like they got rid of the sun rays in front of the big tree as you're walking up to it for some reason.
It's finally nice to see how the movesets will work. I was wondering if it was gonna be Street Fighter, Tekken, or SmashBbros-esque. Seems to lean more toward the latter two.
But yeah I see your point and even agree with it. But I'm not feeling any sort of remorse for it considering how many systems I own and collect for on a regular basis. It is a little agonizing to see so much potential in their IPs and then watch them get so underutilized.

I keep hearing about Lawnmower Man but I never watched it. It only recently started being mentioned around me.
Silly Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon.
