Re: The Legend of Zelda for Wii U Gets Its 2016 Release Window Back, as Project Guard Slips to 'TBC'

Spin

@rjejr Contrary to that I seem to remember a lot of empty schedules at the end of the Wii's life cycle. I think the Wii was a super fad that everyone wanted to jump on which is why there is so many games for it. Unfortunately the Wii U isn't so on board. But I own about 30-40 Wii U games and I can say out of those I don't think there is a single flop in the bunch. So I'm happy with the Wii U's library. The only unfortunate thing is there is so few games that actually utilize the Wii U to it's full potential like Nintendo Land did.

I'm a strange person. I hate that Star Fox forces gamepad controls into it. But I love games like Nintendo Land that use the gamepad so well. Maybe it's how I feel about solo experiences versus party ones.

Re: The Game Lineup for EVO 2016 Has Been Announced

Pokken isn't too surprising. It's already being played in tournaments in Japan. I believe I saw Justin Wong (a prominent Street Fighter/Marvel Vs. Capcom player) in one of those tournaments as well. So it's quite possible that the fighting game community has had their hands on the the game already, at least in it's arcade form.

Shoulda slipped in that they have Pokken Tournament coming out at the very least. I would think that the casual tv watcher will see that and not be the least bit curious about what it means.

On the other hand it might hit some nostalgia for those that haven't heard or touched a Pokemon game in awhile, they may wonder why Lucario looks so weird and look it up.

Re: Hardcore Gaming 101's Next Book Focuses On Taito's Arcade Legacy

Taito has always been one of my favorite retro game developers. I'm sad I don't see them much anymore. Arkanoid, Bubble Bobble, Bust-A-Move, Darius, and Space Invaders are all such excellent arcade experiences that are super easy and fun to pick up and play.

If any of you have an opportunity to pick up Space Invaders Extreme 1&2 for the DS I highly recommend it.

I'm suprised no one has really gone as far as to clone the Subspace Emissary portion of Smash. That would be the best way to go about these movie tie-ins. So you still have a mild single player experience that reflects the movie. But the real fun is in the multiplayer.

It's sad that these are usually either rushed to release or have too small a budget to really fine tune the engine that it's using, otherwise we'd probably have a lot of fun Smash alternatives to head to. Like Playstation All Stars, a good concept that's squandered due to the lack of attention to detail.

Re: Pokkén Tournament Modes and Details Emerge

Spin

I dunno why people are complaining about the lack of story mode. Go play Street Fighter, there is no story mode to be had aside from a few cutscenes at the beginning and end of a arcade playthrough. There isn't really many fighting games with full fledge story aside from Injustice or one of the Arc System Works games. I mean unless all the fighting games I've played haven't really been the right ones.

Re: Talking Point: Let's Dare to Believe that Sonic the Hedgehog Can Have a Happy Anniversary

I know there is a ton of potential for a good Sonic game, Sonic is such a good concept from a game design standpoint. And the story and characters are iconic. There should really be nothing holding SEGA back from making the series anything less than excellent. We can only hope they've learned their lesson and can put out a product that's awesome. After all, Sonic Team has had the better part of 2 years to work on it.

I will be a very sad gamer if Sonic ever fades into obscurity like his fellow blue mascot Mega Man.

Re: Nintendo Life Weekly: New 2016 Sonic Game Hinted, NX Release Predictions and More

As much as it annoys me with how many times it has been done. Sonic needs another proper reboot. Get all the bad stuff behind him (again). And for goodness sake make a finished game! I like the ideas in Lost World alright, give the player control over his speed, but fix the parkour mechanics and bring a more open-ish world like the Sonic Adventure series. Perhaps maybe the gameplay of the next Sonic should take what they have learned from Lost World and Unleashed styles and combine them.

I won't be terribly bothered by whatever story is spat out with it. Although, with as ridiculous as it is, I will always have some heart for the Adventure series' story.
