I feel there aren't many games that use the occupation of Fire Man. I do remember this really need arcade rail shooter that I liked a lot when i was little.
I've never been too much for limited edition consoles. Handhelds yes. But consoles just sit under the tv and collect dust. Not really much to look at XD
I don't know, if I was a retailer I would've made Shovel Knight front and center in some places. I see tons of games that are on a proper shelf that are 20 bucks at places like Walmart and Best Buy. Gamestop should know better then to dump the game in a bargain bin. In fact I've never seen Gamestop put a new game in their bargain bin, they tend to guard those games pretty closely.
Not that I'm saying Yacht Club is messing with us, but I think it's possible that some of those retailers were pulling their leg so that Yacht Club would raise the MSRP a bit more.
The game looked a little lacking in the amazing department when I first saw it. I was totally hoping for a new Chibi Robo game reflecting the way the Gamecube game played. I don't know why it's so hard for them to return to that.
@AshFoxX I highly suggest you take a look at games like Alien Crush, Devil's Crush, Dragon's Revenge, 3-D Ultra Pinball Thrillride (an amazing example of a single screen pinball game done right), and there is even Metroid Pinball on the DS that's pretty good.
It really bugs me that this is what the MvDK series turned in to. I love the original DK on the Game Boy and I've always wished Nintendo would continue to make more games in that style. But alas, this is what is given to us.
I've always liked these pinball themed adventure games like Sonic Spinball. I've always found it to be a creative idea that not enough people utilized.
@BulbasaurusRex I was more speaking of bosses being hard as well as forgiving. Classic Sonic bosses were always easy with the exception of the final boss. You could easily bounce on eggmans head a few times consecutively if you were good. Freedom Planet's bosses had a few patterns that required the use of a different attack. The bosses almost felt Megaman-ish in their design.
As for level design, each freedom planet level uses a different theme. One level requires you to find keys and use them on a lock, another level has you traverse it without oxygen, forcing you to hold tight to your bubble shields and not take damage (without the hassle of the pesky water physics). Another level has you go to a couple places in any order you like and then meet back at the start point to fight the boss. I'm not saying original Sonic's weren't fun, but this game extends the Sonic formula's potential while ironing out the bad parts of classic Sonic.
I had a bug that occurred when I beat the earth boss in the sky ship level. I got stuck in the boss room and could not leave.
I hope this doesn't discredit the game at all. It is a well designed game. Just may not be the best coded one. But such a small team could not possibly account for so many bugs.
This game is excellent. It takes the Sonic formula and gets rid of most of the gripes I have with the old Sonics. You can attack enemies properly, the level design has meaning and themes, and the bosses are hard but not unforgiving. I highly recommend it.
As much as I hate that this game is download only. I most certainly will buy it because I want Nintendo to know there is support for the series over here.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd October (Europe)
That Resident Evil Revelations discount though. Wish we'd get it that low in the states.
Re: Fear Not SteamWorld Dig Fans, A Direct Sequel Could Still Happen
Needs a dig dug alt costume in the next one.
Re: Nintendo Launches Updated Developer Portal Website
@RCMADIAX Same here. It looks a ton of a lot friendlier than their last page.
After I registered already 2 weeks ago too.
Re: Slender: The Arrival Will be Creeping Out Wii U Owners in North America on 22nd October
If it gets Steam Sale cheap I may pick it up. Other wise, I probably won't pick it up.
Re: This Custom SNES Console Is The Perfect Way To Mark Three Decades Of Super Mario
You know I miss the days of old SNES menu backgrounds that just repeated a fancy pattern. This reminds me of that.
Re: Review: Pocky & Rocky with Becky (Wii U eShop / GBA)
Well that's disappointing. Considering the SNES version is a pretty good shooter. (Also one of the more expensive SNES games)
Re: Classic Sega Saturn Puzzler Baku Baku Animal Is Getting A Spiritual Successor
Never heard of it, but I'm all for action puzzle games. Despite this one looking slightly on the creepy side.
Re: Review: Toto Temple Deluxe (Wii U eShop)
This game really gets my goat.
...I'm sorry.

Re: Hands On: Learning to Enjoy Death in RIVE
Wow, I feel bad for not picking this up when it had a demo for it. It looks awesome!
Re: Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets Gets a 3DS Release Date
It doesn't look to bad. I'm not a fan of gravity falls, but it does look nice.
Maybe it'll end up like the adventure time games. I don't particularly like adventure time either, but the games themselves are pretty decent.
Re: Developer Of Acclaimed Indie Title Lumo "100% Trying" To Secure Wii U ReleaseĀ
There's something mildly disturbing about the model used in the picture.

Re: Review: Freedom Planet (Wii U eShop)
@BulbasaurusRex Well I do recommend it. As I said it does improve upon the Sonic formula well. So if you like Sonic it's likely you'll enjoy the game.

They sure do make SmileBasic look like a lot of fun.

Vectorman would be awesome! I see a lot of people are voting for that.

Gotta say, that's one of the most poorly designed boxarts I've ever seen.
Re: Nintendo Download: 1st October (North America)
Oh sweet. Freedom Planet! Anyone that is passing it up is definitely missing out. Especially if you like retro titles.
Will definitely be picking it up.

I do like me some Tecmo Bowl. But it's a little sad that's all there is this week.
Making VC games must be really tough.
