A) Is that for Vocaloid overall, or for the Hatsune Miku Project series? Well, doesn't matter as my response is yet to both, even if I've only played one entry of the Project series.
That said, I had a ton of fun with Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd, and I couldn't even understand a single menu option in that. Naturally, a translated version of the game should be much more enjoyable and has me excited.
Q) Will you be getting this title when it launches?
A) I'm not quite so sure about when it launches, that depends on when Splatoon and Legend of Kay Anniversary come out. Multiple trips to the nearest video game store (which is a good 10-12 miles) can be rather annoying for anyone giving me a lift, so I may get the game at a slightly later date when I go to pick up another game I want.
If I could get it at launch, I gladly would though.
Q) Are you going anywhere nice on holiday this year?
A) My parents had a rule, we either have holidays or have pets. Our house has three dogs, two chinchilla's, and one cat. So no, but the pets ate totally worth the lack of holidays.
Funny enough, Sonic was also the first thing I thought of when I saw the character designs.
In any case, I love the look of the game, both in it's design and it's gameplay. A 2-D high speed action platformer with adorable designed characters, neat locations, and voice acting that I seem to be one of the few to enjoy, is the sort of thing that catches my interest. I shall look forward to getting this game once it lands on Wii U then.
If I wasn't already excited for this game due to it's gameplay and design, then the humour alone would be getting me interested. I laughed at just about every line.
@JaxonH @Einherjar Likewise, I rarely ever play shooters or online focused games, and yet this is still managing to grab my attention and makes me want to play it. Of course, I'll probably be diving straight into the single player, before moving onto the online content.
@MetalKingShield Ah, this Pirate Mode must be what gave me the impression that it was a short game, or at the very least could be completed quickly.
Admittedly, 8-10 hours is also a decent length for a recorded playthrough, but not quite as short as what I'm currently aiming for. I might still consider purchasing it to do a playthrough on later in the year... though if I'm going to consider waiting that long, I might as well consider going with Half Genie Hero instead.
In any case, thank you very much for informing me of this, I appreciate it.
An once again Circle are publishing a game that has caught my interest. With this great review, I feel I'll definitely be purchasing Adventure Bar Story... you know, once it comes out on the EU eShop.
I like my turn based RPG's, and the way the characters and enemies are set out in battles, it kind of makes me think of Breath of Fire. The cooking/bar combination with the RPG formula sounds brilliant to me, and whilst some of the problems sound annoying, they seem like ones I'll be able to look past if I can enjoy the game.
With this discount going on, I'm tempted to purchase Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. I was personally planning on testing out the Shantae series with the release of Shantae: Half Genie Hero, but if this is on offer, that might be reason enough to jump into the series with Pirate's Curse.
Quick question for anyone who has played it, how long would you say Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is? If I do purchase it, I'm considering doing a playthrough of it for my channel, but as I'm trying to focus on shorter games I'd prefer to know a rough estimation of the game's length before I go ahead with it.
@rjejr Oh, I remember that game. It was actually quite a lot of fun.
Naturally it wasn't as good as Power Stone, but aside from the Power Stone collection releasing on the PSP, it's the closest thing we've had to Power Stone since back in the Dreamcast era... at least, to my knowledge.
I saw Power Stone in the title of this article and knew I needed to check it out immediately. By gosh I wish we had a Power Stone 3.
In any case, a spiritual successor would also be fine with me, I'm rather surprised at the lack of games made within that particular style of fighting genre. The game shown looks pretty good, and whilst I'm not too sure on the character designs yet, the in game art style looks pretty neat. I hope to see things go well for this game!
I don't think this is going to tie into Disney Infinity, those characters certainly don't look like any Disney IPs that I know of, and I believe this game is rumoured to be Wii U only. I'll be keeping an eye out on this, it's already rather intriguing.
@readyletsgo I believe a while back, Nordic Games confirmed that Legend of Kay Anniversary is indeed a legitimate product, coming to Wii U and PC. Other than that, I've heard no more new information on it.
I'm looking forward to it though, looks like a pretty fun game, shame I missed it back in the day but the anniversary edition will be catch up time.
@ToxieDogg That would be a nice exchange. It's really odd that we in the EU are not getting Kirby and the Rainbow Curse when everyone else is, it's not like we're getting any other game instead of it. Well, that is if Yoshi's Wooly World doesn't turn out to be an early EU release, which would be great.
Anyway, I'd be quite glad if Yoshi's Wooly World does come out within the first half of the year. It's one of my most anticipated Wii U games of the year, and my younger brother happens to be a fan of both Yoshi and Kirby's Epic Yarn, so if it comes out before August, I feel Yoshi's Wooly World would make a great birthday present for him. Here's hoping then!
I am excited for this game, and it's nice to hear both a confirmation of it releasing worldwide, as well as rough time it will be releasing. I'm quite surprised though, even with it getting a worldwide release, I didn't expect it to arrive this year.
In any case, this game looks awesome, and I'll definitely be purchasing it upon it's release. I look forward to it.
I believe I had already heard the majority of this information before, in prior interviews. At the very least, I remember the parts concerning why the matches are 4-on-4 and the the implementation of squids. Even the reasoning behind having the abilities separated between squid and human was something I'd heard of, though the information is a bit more detailed here, as I did not know of the lack of height based play in the original concept for Splatoon. It's nice to hear further details on that point.
The very first part of the interview was somegthing I hadn't heard of at all. I did not know that the team comprised mostly of staff who had worked on Wii U launch titles (the only game I heard mentioned regarding what the staff had worked on was Animal Crossing). This was certainly an interesting detail to find out about, and seems to be a really wise thing to do in regards to developing a game to take advantage of the Wii U's features.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading this interview. I'm personally one of those people who feel Nintendo don't really need to make new IPs, and would rather prefer they focus on reviving the IPs they haven't been using as of late, but I'm glad for Splatoon's existence. It's a unique IP that's built on a premise that I don't really feel any of Nintendo's other IPs could really cover, and so it feels very validated in it's existence as a new IP. I'm incredibly excited for this game, and Splatoon still remains my 2nd most highly anticipated game of 2015. I look forward to playing it in May.
Well, there are currently only two 3DS games I'm looking forward to at the moment, so I'd be pleased if this game were to come out worldwide. I do tend to enjoy my Dragon Ball games, I had a good time with Supersonic Warriors, and it's been a while since I've played one (I believe the last one I played was Revenge of King Piccolo for the Wii).
@Salnax I'd love to see more pre-Z era Dragon Ball games made as well. Dragon Ball: Advance Adventures happens to be my favourite GBA game, and certainly one of my top 20 favourite games of all time.
Thinking about it, there have been plenty of DBZ fighting games, but I don't know of any pre-Z Dragon Ball fighting games. That's kind of odd given that the original series had more of a focus on CQC martial arts techniques and the World Martial Arts Tournament.
@DarkEdi Agreed. Although I've only played small samples and demo's of the DBZ fighting games following Budokai Tenkaichi 3, I do feel they did not play as well as BT 2 and 3. Using the Wii controls were pretty awesome in those games, was always my go to method of playing those games.
@Yorumi I should warn you that this reply may be a long one, but I’ll try to be as ‘to the point’ as I can be.
The problem I have with open world games, or in this particular case, Skyrim, is the constant questionability of whether I’m missing vital things or doing things in an… incorrect manner per say. For instance, I do enjoy taking on side quests within an area, but in Skyrim, it is not quite so clear how many side quests they are, where they’ll take you, and furthermore, whether I’m to the point of progress when I take on the side quest.
It leaves me wondering whether I am at the right level or have the right amount of skills to take on the side quest. Furthermore, if I take on too many of these abundance of side quests, I’m worried about over levelling to a point where the game becomes too easy. Skyrim doesn’t give a clear indicator of level requirements; it doesn’t have a clear route for tackling side quests in any order, which is a nuisance for me. I also find it troublesome to balance the time spent doing side quests and the main objective, as I certainly don’t want to spend a day where I make no main game progress, but I also do not wish to either leave the entirety of the side quest portion of the game untouched or risked being under-levelled/not having decent equipment for the main story.
Choice is something I appreciate, but I feel that too much freedom within a game causes it to lose focus as it were. It pushes aside the main objectives focus, in turn dwindling my motivation and distracting me with many additional features. Within a game like Skyrim, I feel it’s open world approach does little to motivate pursuing the main quest, and too many side quest avenues open up too early within the game. From what I played, there was never a point the game tried to focus me back onto the main quest, either by giving me a reason for tackling the main quest (be it through story, or character motivation) or through limiting how many side quests I could within an area at certain points within the main campaign.
It’s true that I could have set forth on the main campaign, but my concerns regarding not having done enough given there was nothing to indicate I had done a decent amount of side quests or having effectively levelled/equipped myself put me off this. Combine this with other problems I had with Skyrim in particular, such as its lack of motivation for doing the main quest (your character has no motivation, the game doesn’t do much to attach you to any of its characters, and the civil war seems to be having more of an effect on the land than the dragons), or it’s average gameplay when playing from a third person perspective (admittedly leaps and bounds better than my small time with Oblivion, but still not too great, and I avoid first person whenever possible).
I realise that this all personal opinion, but it is my take on why I usually dislike open world games, or at least the kind of which games like Skyrim offered. If you disagree on my reasoning’s as to why I dislike the feel of open world games, then fair enough, this is to serve merely as explanation of my own thoughts and not as a method of convincing that one opinion is better over the other. In the case that Zelda Wii U is open world, for me I feel it’ll be a less enjoyable experience and not one I wish to partake in, as I prefer focused main objectives with occasional side quests, rather than having to construct my own order of story based objectives and multiple side quests filled with uncertainty. For all those who enjoy those types of games, or wish for Zelda U to be open world, then I hope they’ll enjoy that game if it turns out like that, but it’ll be one I shall unlikely enjoy.
@midnafanboy Funny that, that would actually get me interested in this Legend of Zelda instalment if that were the case. All the talk of open world has put me off getting this upcoming Zelda game, particularly if it's open world to a Skyrim scale (which I personally grew bored of very quickly, really not my cup of tea).
If it were to be of a more linear nature, or at least have a direction focus equivalent to other Zelda games (aside from the 1st one), then that will go a good way in convincing me to get the game.
Curse you CIRCLE! I haven't finished off Witch & Hero or Demon King Box yet, and I've yet to even begin playing The Legend of Dark Witch that I already purchased. Stop releasing so many fun (and in this case as I've yet to play it, looking) games, I don't have the time.
As you may tell, I love the look of this game. I love my turn based RPGs and this seems a pretty fun take on one. Luckily it only has a US release date (spare me, for I've so many other games to play still) for the moment, but I'll likely get it once it comes out in the EU.
This is my looked forward to game on the 3DS for 2015 (admittedly not all that hard given I'm only looking forward to two 3DS games this year so far), and I'm glad to know of it's release date.
It seems I'll be doing quite a bit of spending in May/early June, as that is when three of my wanted games come out. Anyway, looking forward to playing a physical copy of a Hatsune Miku game that will actually be in my language.
While I do agree with the score this game got, in terms of overall quality it does come across as merely above average, I did happen to have a ton of fun playing it.
It turns out that I did receive this game for Christmas, and have just recently completed it. There were some flaws to it, but I found it mostly enjoyable with some awesome side missions/side investigations and found the hacking to be simple but fun. There is always an immense joy to be had upon taking out several foes before even entering the area.
Well then, this game looks to be as awesome as ever, so jolly good. I hope to hear of this game getting a worldwide release announcement soon, it'll nice to get the confirmation that my anticipation for this title will be fulfilled at some point.
In regards to the subject of phones or phone apps, I don't I can comment on the situation, given I've never bothered to have a phone to this day. Still, I at least understand that such things are important to many people, and the idea of a Mii based app sounds interesting at least.
This comment section seems to be rather depressing in it's overall mood. Certainly, while I do not see the Wii U's fortunes turning dramatically, I'm still optimistic that it has a chance to at least do decently, and at the very least, continue to provide much enjoyment. I'm still loving the system, I've plenty to look forward to on the system at the moment, and I hope there will be plenty more to look forward to on the system in future.
The lack of Ice Climbers was the harshest removal of the series for me, and the removal of transformations feels odd to me. Having the likes of Zelda and Sheik, or Samus and Zero Suit Samus as separate is both bizarre and I feel removes a unique aspect of these fighters, and Charizard as a standalone fighter when we already have 2 (soon to be 3) Gen 1 Pokémon in the roster feels iffy.
Huh, funny how I just stumbled across the Nintendo Life forum post concerning Kickstarters, which just recently had a comment concerning Sneaky Ninja, and just now a news article is posted about Sneaky Ninja.
In any case, I love the look of the game, and will see about contributing to it's Kickstarter once I've been able to check my funds after some upcoming purchases. I'm glad to see that there is still plenty of time left for this Kickstarter.
@blujay1524 Much like @Pahvi pointed out, there are actually quite a few decent Ubisoft titles that people care about. For instance, I loved Red Steel, it happens to be my favourite FPS of all. As for Child of Light, it's currently my favourite game of this generation.
In any case, this unreleased game doesn't seem too appealing to me, but perhaps it's simply because it's not suited to my tastes and for all we know it could actually be a decent game for the demographic it's made for.
Overall, I just hope that in the circumstance of where a Child of Light 2 or Child of Light spiritual successor is made, that it will still be released on Wii U. I believe there comments towards not releasing further games on Wii U is directed only towards their more mature rated titles, so the likes of Child of Light, Rayman, and other such IPs are likely safe in terms of releasing on Wii U, if further instalments of those IPs are made.
Although I've seen news of about it in abundance, I'm kind of unfamiliar with how the Yokai Watch series actually plays. That said, if it's a formula that works, I see nothing wrong with other developers making game like it. I keep on wishing for there to be more games in the vein of Power Stone or Super Smash Bros all the time.
As for this particular game, 'Apprentice Witch and Fluffy Friends'... well, if it wasn't obvious enough from my avatar, I like witches. On an art style basis, I also love the 'Fluffy Friends' have been designed, clearly resembling cuddly toys to the point where you can even see the stitching. The blue cat and the plant creature look particularly adorable, and in terms of art style alone, this game does garner my interest more so than Yokai Watch. In any case, If future gameplay footage interests me and this game gets a worldwide release, I may check this one out.
As a Kirby fan, I naturally would love to have that Kirby figure, but given that it's easier to find Kirby merchandise than it is to find the Muramasa: The Demon Blade merchandise (absolutely amazing game by the way), if I had to choose to have any one of these figurines, I'd go for the Momohime figure most of all.
The lack of voice chat certainly doesn't bother me, and was something I was half expecting given the family friendly image Splatoon has going for it, though I can see why this is troubling for many. Hopefully the 'no voice chat' rule will only apply to playing with strangers, or that their will be a quick and efficient means to communicate with others in game without voice chat.
As said though, this is a flaw that bothers me little. I'm glad to hear more on the single player mode, and I believe other articles have mentioned that their will be a local multiplayer mode, so my enthusiasm for this game still remains as my 2nd most highly anticipated game of 2015.
This game does look familiar, I believe I saw someone playing it once, but if you had mentioned the name of the game to me I'd have never been able to tell you what it was.
All that said, the game does look pretty fun, so this rumour is true and it comes out as a physical release for Wii U, I may see about getting it. If it comes out when it says it will, that is okay timing. I'll likely still be busy with Splatoon and Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX, but I can purchase it and save it to play around July or August.
Provided it gets a physical release over here, then I'm very excited indeed and will more than likely get this game. That said, I certainly wouldn't mind if it didn't come about until next year, my wallet looks rather uneasy about the amount of games I'm wanting to get this year already.
Funnily enough, it's actually hearing of the ways in which the Wii U Gamepad is being used for this Star Fox game which is actually interesting me in most of all. I had a great time playing Star Fox 64 3D, primarily playing with the Gyroscope controls.
As a fan of the Wii U Gamepad, as well as the gyroscope function in the previous Star Fox title, these elements are what is making me more and more likely to obtain the game when it comes out later this year. Of course, I'd prefer to see it in action first, so until then it's not a definite, but I'm interested and eager to see more.
For myself, I've not too much interest in the game. I'm not very good at strategy games, and when it comes to Intelligence Systems, my preference is for Puzzle League and Paper Mario over Fire Emblem or Advance Wars.
That said, I do love the look of the setting, and the idea of having the majority of the cast consist of American novel protagonists is pretty unique. It's a bit odd that they then went ahead and set in London, but alas, the concept and setting are cool and so I hope this new IP does well.
It seems to have mostly been overshadowed by Splatoon, but hopefully as it now draws closer to it's release, Codename: S.T.E.A.M will start getting more attention.
Woo Hoo! I'm glad to hear more news on one of the only two 3DS games I'm so far planning to obtain. I wonder why we couldn't get this piece of news in the Nintendo Direct.
In any case, I loved playing the Hatsune Miku Project Diva game on the PSP, and so I'm eagerly awaiting to play Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX. A May release is quite interesting though, given Splatoon also comes out then, it's set May up to be a very appreciated month for me.
Also, interesting to hear about the results of said poll. As far as Wii U and 3DS games go, Splatoon also happens to be my most looked forward to game as of the moment.
@electrolite77 I can't remember when it was noted, but I believe Nintendo have been turning a profit on the Wii U for a while now. Their not exactly in a great position, but their certainly not hurting for money, and I'm confident they could last the Wii U for 2017-2018.
Furthermore, a short life cycle kind of gives off a negative view to consumers. Personally, if I'm given the impression that a £300 plus item is going to last only 4 years, it doesn't exactly give me much enthusiasm for the next in the line. If Nintendo does go ahead and release a new console in 2016, I'm certainly not going to get it at launch like with the Wii U (it's not like I'm going to have that just lying around spare).
@DinoPlanet Honestly, I actually don't think Nintendo need to make all too many new IPs, as they have plenty as it is. An when it comes to recycling old IPs, I frankly think they need to do it more often, but simply not with the usual likes of Mario and Pokémon and more so with the many IPs they already have and haven't used nearly as frequently. One example would be in the case of Kid Icarus Uprising, it was an IP that hadn't been used in so long, it effectively came across as new.
@Cyberbotv2 I generally have confidence due to my enjoyment of the Wii U. I've enjoyed Miiverse, the Wii U Gamepad is my favourite gaming controller of all time, and the Wii U has my favourite (non-Paper Mario) Mario game on it as well as my favourite Legend of Zelda game. I've enjoyed many of it's great games as well as it's backwards compatibility to the many Wii games I enjoyed.
It's rather ironic that you go onto mention Sony and the PS4, as their the company and system I don't have much confidence right now. I do not foresee a new Ape Escape, Medievil, Legend of Dragoon, or PlayStation All-Stars being made any time soon, which happen to be the IPs of theirs I enjoyed.
@ericwithcheese2 Agreed, now is too soon to be talking about a new system and the focus on news and discussion should preferably focus on the Wii U. Talk of a new system's release, particularly believing it'll come out so soon, does hinder potential interest.
Also, I agree that 2016 is too soon and that the Wii U deserves to have a strong last year, and whatever new Nintendo system comes out deserves to have a strong launch line-up and year. I personally feel that said new system would be better off for a 2018 release, rather than 2017, but if it turns out the new system is a console-handheld hybrid, then the New 3DS lifespan would have to be taken into consideration (so 2017 might be better, at least in that scenario).
From what I've heard in regards to Nintendo's talk of their next console, I feel the concept of a form of handheld/console hybird seems more likely. I can imagine it as being like a standalone gamepad which you can take with you and play games on, with some sort of base unit that gives it extra strength and features for playing games on the TV. Of course, I do feel it is way too soon to begin speculating on these matters, the Wii U is only two years old after all.
@Radbot42 Agreed, only 4 years just feels too soon for a new console. I personally think they should keep at it with the Wii U until 2018, 6 years seems much more solid.
@TrueWiiMaster 2018 is about the time I believe the Wii U will stick around for as well. An I do agree that the PS4 and Xbox One may aim for a 10 year life cycle, as I remember that was Sony's intention for the PS3, and I believe they reiterated that they were trying to succeed at that with the PS4 this time.
The next Nintendo system being the strongest system on the market for what would be a decent 4-5 years is an interesting prospect to think about. In that sense, if they expect their competitors to stick with their current systems for that long, they can afford to make tech that is only slightly stronger rather than overwhelmingly stronger, so they could incorporate more unique ideas and at a decent price (after all, by this point the PS4 and Xbox One will likely be discounting their price quite a bit compared to their launch, so pricing might be an obstacle to consider).
While I've never played a Touhou Project game, what with not being a fan of PC games, I did get involved in the series to a degree through fan fiction and fan comics. It looks to be a nice series, although my interest in ever wanting to play a Touhou Project game is more so towards it's actual fighting game spin-offs rather than it's main, bullet hell genre games.
As for this project, I will say that I'm not a fan of the models. I feel a 2D artstyle, more like the actual Touhou fighters, or even akin to Arc System fighters, would have looked much better. That said, a SSB style fighting game (why are there not more of these) utilising characters from Touhou Project? I like the sound of that, and if it comes out on the UK eShop, I'll definitely purchase it.
Now I just hope for Suika Ibuki to be announced as a playable character for it... provided the Indiegogo campaign succeeds of course.
This actually looks fairly fun, provided it gets a western release and comes in physical form, I may consider purchasing it. I don't have many 3DS games on my wanted list for this year after all.
Also, according to a recent Mynintendonews article, Nintendo's stock has gone up quite a bit after this announcement. I'd post the list, but can't remember off the top of my head if I'm allowed to on this site. Ah well, I'm sure Nintendo Life will report on it fairly soon.
I've yet to play this series, but it does interest me, and as one of only two 3DS games to interest me in 2015 so far, I look forward to trying this game out.
Hoping for it to be a fun experience, and hoping to see it get more news coverage and highlighting closer to it's release, generally I've seen few people mentioning/remembering this game is coming out when discussing upcoming 3DS games (thanks for remembering it in your article, NintendoLife).
@epicdude12302 I also helped fund Twisted Fusion, so like you, I may check this out.
That said, I also have quite a backlog of games that interest me, including those on the eShop. In any case, it's nice to see Twisted Fusion is coming along nicely and even doing things to help promote it's upcoming release such as this crossover.
Oh, I forgot, when it comes to 3DS games I'm looking forward to, I'm looking forward to Bravely Second most of all. The only problem with that is that I've no idea when it's coming to the UK, though given how long it took the previous Bravely Default game to get here after it's Japan release, I imagine it'll be coming out in 2016 rather than 2015.
So far, in regards to 2015 3DS releasing games, there are only two that interest me so far; Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX and Fossil Fighters: Frontier. The latter is more a case of curiosity, having never played any of the Fossil Fighter entries but wanting to try it out. I'm certainly looking forward more so to the Hatsune Miku game, having played other Vocaloid games before, but I still voted for Fossil Fighters in regards to this poll as I felt it was nice to give it some votes.
In any case, I have my suspicions that the 3rd version of Pokémon X and Y may get announced this year, or if not that, the Pikachu detective game that Game Freak mentioned in the past, and both cases involve a game I'm wanting to get, so there may be a 3rd 3DS title (or even 4th if both games get announced) that I end up getting this year as well.
Also, if I can find it cheap, I may pick up a copy of the Lego City game for 3DS, having enjoyed the Wii U one interests me in it's 3DS prequel.
I absolutely love the look of the game. The art design is simply goregous, and the insect designed characters and such look adorable and fitting for the grey tones of colour used throughout.
Gameplay also looked neat, looking like something I'd enjoy.
The off-putting thing is how far off it is from it's Wii U stretch goal. As someone who doesn't play PC games, and who plays primarily on the Wii U (in particular when it comes to download games, Nintendo's eShop's are certainly the easiest to navigate), getting a free PC, Mac, or Linux version wouldn't do me much good and having it only available on those systems means I'd unlikely ever play it.
Here's hoping it picks up over the coming 8 days, and I'll see about whether to fund it or not closer to it's closing date.
As a huge fan of Super Mario 3D World, and particularly it's Captain Toad sections, I'm ecstatic about this game, which is easily one of my looked forward to games of 2015 (still find it strange that those of us in the UK and EU get it later, but a January release date does make more sense than releasing it around the time of SSBU and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby).
The addition of a co-op function would have been great, and is something I feel many people were expecting once Toadette was introduced. It's a shame that this is not a feature, and I feel you did a great job explaining why in the review.
I certainly don't mind that this is game comes across as on the short side, I don't often complete games as it is, and it sounds like their is plenty of replay value anyway. I'm really happy to hear that the game is even slightly lower in price, this I did not know, and it sounds like a great way of doing things. I love the Wii U Gamepad so a game that draws a lot of it's potential is pleasing to hear.
All in all, a great review for what looks to be a great game. I'm looking forward to playing Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
It's a shame to hear that there are some optimisation flaws in regards to the driving aspect, particularly when it rains, and that the Gamepad is not put to more use given the subject matter.
The review did a nice job of covering the good aspects of the game, the simple but understandably so hacking mechanic which still manages to bring some fun into the game, the amount to do, and the cool online hacking experience. It also covered the flaws of the game, and furthermore, covered flaws regarding it's port to the Wii U.
Watch Dogs has always been a bit of an odd game for me to have an interest in, I'm not a fan of open world games, but the hacking concept seemed great, and a perfect fit for Wii U. I've still a passing interest in the game though, so I shall keep it on my Christmas/Birthday list, though if I don't receive the game on either date, I don't see myself going out of my way to get this game.
I think I preferred the theme from the pre-Wii U video, but the game still looks great. It's been a while since I watched the previous video, but I think there was more things happening in this video, more action on screen at once.
Anyway, if it does come to the UK, I may purchase it. It has me intrigued, and provided it is a physical disk release, I certainly wouldn't mind purchasing it. I'll have to wait and see though, with the many awesome games out already, and the awesome games coming out next year, it'll all depend on whether I even have any money by the time it comes out.
The postman Link costume is certainly unexpected, but hilarious, so welcomed with open arms.
I don't see why it's Zelda whose been given another weapon, given there are other characters who lack multiple weapon choices still, but oh well. I haven't enjoyed using Zelda's standard weapon, so perhaps I'll prefer using her with the Dominion Rod.
According to the Siliconera article about this news, the inclusion of Ilia serves as an alternative skin for Zelda. If true, it's not something I'm a fan of, using skins to have characters become completely different characters.
This DLC doesn't interest me all too much, but it's appreciated all the same, and when I get back to playing Hyrule Warriors I'll sure to have some fun trying all of it out. That said, hopefully the other two DLC packs will be more to my liking and interest (c'mon playable Tingle inclusion).
An interesting read, particularly as it focuses on it's gorgeous artstyle. I'm glad to hear that the core team who made Child of Light has been kept around, I'd love to see a sequel or spiritual successor of the game made in future.
In fact, this article does remind me that I still need to go back and complete this game. Apparently I was right near the end when I stopped playing to focus on other things at the time. I suppose once I've finished using my Wii U to record gameplay footage for my channel, I can get back to completing Child of Light... and Hyrule Warriors.
You were not kidding with describing your attempts at driving, hacking, trying to run down pedestrians, and trying to shoot someone as being done so badly. The ending to that video was pretty hilarious.
Anyway, it's close to Christmas, which according to family rules means I'm not allowed to buy myself any games in case someone else has already bought it for me. It's on my joint Christmas/Birthday list though, so I may get this game around then, though it's admittedly not all too high on my list compared to other games that I'm wanting. Still, it looks fun, and I'd be happy to get it, just have to wait and see if I will.
Well, I'm still somewhat interested in the game and so have kept it on my Christmas/Birthday list (their pretty close, so it's easier to just make a single large list as anything I don't get at Christmas I usually get on my Birthday). Whether I'll actually get it then all depends on whether it gets bought for me.
I only saw small snippets from the video, but it looks fine to me.

Re: Video: Tap Your Toes To Fresh Footage From Hatsune Miku: Project MIRAI Remix
Q) Are you a fan of the series?
Re: Freedom Planet Bringing Its Brand of Sonic-Style Action to Wii U
Funny enough, Sonic was also the first thing I thought of when I saw the character designs.
In any case, I love the look of the game, both in it's design and it's gameplay. A 2-D high speed action platformer with adorable designed characters, neat locations, and voice acting that I seem to be one of the few to enjoy, is the sort of thing that catches my interest. I shall look forward to getting this game once it lands on Wii U then.
Re: Gallery: Splatoon Development Updates Show Off Fashion, Octolings and Guns
If I wasn't already excited for this game due to it's gameplay and design, then the humour alone would be getting me interested. I laughed at just about every line.
@JaxonH @Einherjar Likewise, I rarely ever play shooters or online focused games, and yet this is still managing to grab my attention and makes me want to play it. Of course, I'll probably be diving straight into the single player, before moving onto the online content.
Re: WayForward to Celebrate 25th Anniversary With eShop Discounts
@MetalKingShield Ah, this Pirate Mode must be what gave me the impression that it was a short game, or at the very least could be completed quickly.
Admittedly, 8-10 hours is also a decent length for a recorded playthrough, but not quite as short as what I'm currently aiming for. I might still consider purchasing it to do a playthrough on later in the year... though if I'm going to consider waiting that long, I might as well consider going with Half Genie Hero instead.
In any case, thank you very much for informing me of this, I appreciate it.
Re: Review: Adventure Bar Story (3DS eShop)
An once again Circle are publishing a game that has caught my interest. With this great review, I feel I'll definitely be purchasing Adventure Bar Story... you know, once it comes out on the EU eShop.
I like my turn based RPG's, and the way the characters and enemies are set out in battles, it kind of makes me think of Breath of Fire. The cooking/bar combination with the RPG formula sounds brilliant to me, and whilst some of the problems sound annoying, they seem like ones I'll be able to look past if I can enjoy the game.
Re: WayForward to Celebrate 25th Anniversary With eShop Discounts
Re: LastFight Looks Like The Power Stone Sequel Capcom Should Have Given Us Already
Re: LastFight Looks Like The Power Stone Sequel Capcom Should Have Given Us Already
Re: Character Art From Forthcoming Disney Wii U Title Emerges Online
Re: Yoshi’s Woolly World Rated By Australian Classification Board
Re: Rodea: The Sky Soldier Confirmed For Release In North America And Europe
I am excited for this game, and it's nice to hear both a confirmation of it releasing worldwide, as well as rough time it will be releasing. I'm quite surprised though, even with it getting a worldwide release, I didn't expect it to arrive this year.
In any case, this game looks awesome, and I'll definitely be purchasing it upon it's release. I look forward to it.
Re: Splatoon Developers Give a Splash of Information on Its Beginnings and Design
Re: Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Budoten is Fighting Its Way to Japanese 3DS Systems This Summer
Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains That The Legend of Zelda for Wii U Will Push the Hardware, But That the Series Has Always Been "Open World"
@Yorumi I should warn you that this reply may be a long one, but I’ll try to be as ‘to the point’ as I can be.
Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains That The Legend of Zelda for Wii U Will Push the Hardware, But That the Series Has Always Been "Open World"
@midnafanboy Funny that, that would actually get me interested in this Legend of Zelda instalment if that were the case.
Re: Adventure Bar Story is Your Typical RPG and Pub Management Experience
Curse you CIRCLE! I haven't finished off Witch & Hero or Demon King Box yet, and I've yet to even begin playing The Legend of Dark Witch that I already purchased. Stop releasing so many fun (and in this case as I've yet to play it, looking) games, I don't have the time.
As you may tell, I love the look of this game. I love my turn based RPGs and this seems a pretty fun take on one. Luckily it only has a US release date (spare me, for I've so many other games to play still) for the moment, but I'll likely get it once it comes out in the EU.
Re: Hatsune Miku: Project MIRAI DX
This is my looked forward to game on the 3DS for 2015 (admittedly not all that hard given I'm only looking forward to two 3DS games this year so far), and I'm glad to know of it's release date.
It seems I'll be doing quite a bit of spending in May/early June, as that is when three of my wanted games come out. Anyway, looking forward to playing a physical copy of a Hatsune Miku game that will actually be in my language.
Re: Legend of Kay Anniversary
Nordic Games have just recently confirmed that Legend of Kay Anniversary for the Wii U is indeed a game that is coming out.
The confirmation is wonderful to hear, and I shall look forward to purchasing this game.
Re: Watch Dogs
While I do agree with the score this game got, in terms of overall quality it does come across as merely above average, I did happen to have a ton of fun playing it.
It turns out that I did receive this game for Christmas, and have just recently completed it. There were some flaws to it, but I found it mostly enjoyable with some awesome side missions/side investigations and found the hacking to be simple but fun. There is always an immense joy to be had upon taking out several foes before even entering the area.
Re: Video: Kadokawa Games Showcases Rodea The Sky Soldier Footage and Hands-On Event
Well then, this game looks to be as awesome as ever, so jolly good. I hope to hear of this game getting a worldwide release announcement soon, it'll nice to get the confirmation that my anticipation for this title will be fulfilled at some point.
Re: Satoru Iwata Shares Confidence in Hitting Targets, Mii-Focused Smartphone App to be Announced in Q2
Re: Video: Did You Know Gaming Tackles Super Smash Bros. Once Again
@mariovslink62 Agreed.
Re: Sneaky Ninja Infiltrates Kickstarter
Huh, funny how I just stumbled across the Nintendo Life forum post concerning Kickstarters, which just recently had a comment concerning Sneaky Ninja, and just now a news article is posted about Sneaky Ninja.
In any case, I love the look of the game, and will see about contributing to it's Kickstarter once I've been able to check my funds after some upcoming purchases. I'm glad to see that there is still plenty of time left for this Kickstarter.
Re: Ubisoft's Unreleased and Finished Wii U Game Has Apparently Been Identified
Re: 'Apprentice Witch and Fluffy Friends' Aims to Take Advantage of the Yo-Kai Watch Fever on 3DS in Japan
Re: Nendoroid Kirby Stars at Wonder Festival Along With Figures for Link, Fire Emblem's Cordelia and More
As a Kirby fan, I naturally would love to have that Kirby figure, but given that it's easier to find Kirby merchandise than it is to find the Muramasa: The Demon Blade merchandise (absolutely amazing game by the way), if I had to choose to have any one of these figurines, I'd go for the Momohime figure most of all.
They all look great though, very nice figurines.
Re: Famitsu Article Reportedly Inks Out More Splatoon Details
Re: Cult PlayStation 2 Title Legend Of Kay Is Getting Remastered On Wii U
This game does look familiar, I believe I saw someone playing it once, but if you had mentioned the name of the game to me I'd have never been able to tell you what it was.
All that said, the game does look pretty fun, so this rumour is true and it comes out as a physical release for Wii U, I may see about getting it. If it comes out when it says it will, that is okay timing. I'll likely still be busy with Splatoon and Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX, but I can purchase it and save it to play around July or August.
Re: Rodea The Sky Soldier Looks Set To Spread Its Wings For A Western Release
Provided it gets a physical release over here, then I'm very excited indeed and will more than likely get this game. That said, I certainly wouldn't mind if it didn't come about until next year, my wallet looks rather uneasy about the amount of games I'm wanting to get this year already.
Re: Talking Point: Star Fox for Wii U is an Ongoing and Surprising Mystery
Funnily enough, it's actually hearing of the ways in which the Wii U Gamepad is being used for this Star Fox game which is actually interesting me in most of all. I had a great time playing Star Fox 64 3D, primarily playing with the Gyroscope controls.
As a fan of the Wii U Gamepad, as well as the gyroscope function in the previous Star Fox title, these elements are what is making me more and more likely to obtain the game when it comes out later this year. Of course, I'd prefer to see it in action first, so until then it's not a definite, but I'm interested and eager to see more.
Re: Impressions: Nintendo Made The Right Call With Its Code Name S.T.E.A.M. Demo
Re: Sega Confirms Global 3DS Release For Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX In May
Re: Digital Foundry Ponders Next-Gen Hardware Options for Nintendo
@akaDv8R Thank you very much.
Also, interesting to hear about the results of said poll. As far as Wii U and 3DS games go, Splatoon also happens to be my most looked forward to game as of the moment.
Re: Digital Foundry Ponders Next-Gen Hardware Options for Nintendo
Re: Digital Foundry Ponders Next-Gen Hardware Options for Nintendo
Re: Digital Foundry Ponders Next-Gen Hardware Options for Nintendo
Re: From Soy Sauce Hopes to Bring Touhou Super Smash Battles to Wii U
Re: Nintendo and GungHo Online Entertainment Announce Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition For 3DS
Re: Fossil Fighters: Frontier
I've yet to play this series, but it does interest me, and as one of only two 3DS games to interest me in 2015 so far, I look forward to trying this game out.
Hoping for it to be a fun experience, and hoping to see it get more news coverage and highlighting closer to it's release, generally I've seen few people mentioning/remembering this game is coming out when discussing upcoming 3DS games (thanks for remembering it in your article, NintendoLife).
Re: Review: BLOK DROP X TWISTED FUSION (Wii U eShop)
@epicdude12302 I also helped fund Twisted Fusion, so like you, I may check this out.
That said, I also have quite a backlog of games that interest me, including those on the eShop. In any case, it's nice to see Twisted Fusion is coming along nicely and even doing things to help promote it's upcoming release such as this crossover.
Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2015
Oh, I forgot, when it comes to 3DS games I'm looking forward to, I'm looking forward to Bravely Second most of all. The only problem with that is that I've no idea when it's coming to the UK, though given how long it took the previous Bravely Default game to get here after it's Japan release, I imagine it'll be coming out in 2016 rather than 2015.
Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2015
So far, in regards to 2015 3DS releasing games, there are only two that interest me so far; Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX and Fossil Fighters: Frontier.
Re: Hollow Knight is a Bit Like Shovel Knight, Except the Knight is Hollow Instead of Carrying a Shovel
Re: Review: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Wii U)
Re: Review: Watch Dogs (Wii U)
Re: Video: New Rodea the Sky Soldier Footage Shows Off Progress
I think I preferred the theme from the pre-Wii U video, but the game still looks great. It's been a while since I watched the previous video, but I think there was more things happening in this video, more action on screen at once.
Anyway, if it does come to the UK, I may purchase it. It has me intrigued, and provided it is a physical disk release, I certainly wouldn't mind purchasing it. I'll have to wait and see though, with the many awesome games out already, and the awesome games coming out next year, it'll all depend on whether I even have any money by the time it comes out.
Re: Peculiar Outfits and Details Revealed for Twilight Princess Hyrule Warriors DLC
Re: Child of Light's Creative Director Paints a Picture of its Artistic Process
An interesting read, particularly as it focuses on it's gorgeous artstyle. I'm glad to hear that the core team who made Child of Light has been kept around, I'd love to see a sequel or spiritual successor of the game made in future.
In fact, this article does remind me that I still need to go back and complete this game. Apparently I was right near the end when I stopped playing to focus on other things at the time. I suppose once I've finished using my Wii U to record gameplay footage for my channel, I can get back to completing Child of Light... and Hyrule Warriors.
Re: Video: Watch Us Merrily Cause Some Havoc In Watch Dogs On Wii U
You were not kidding with describing your attempts at driving, hacking, trying to run down pedestrians, and trying to shoot someone as being done so badly. The ending to that video was pretty hilarious.
Anyway, it's close to Christmas, which according to family rules means I'm not allowed to buy myself any games in case someone else has already bought it for me. It's on my joint Christmas/Birthday list though, so I may get this game around then, though it's admittedly not all too high on my list compared to other games that I'm wanting. Still, it looks fun, and I'd be happy to get it, just have to wait and see if I will.
Re: Video: This Is What Watch Dogs Looks Like On Wii U
Well, I'm still somewhat interested in the game and so have kept it on my Christmas/Birthday list (their pretty close, so it's easier to just make a single large list as anything I don't get at Christmas I usually get on my Birthday). Whether I'll actually get it then all depends on whether it gets bought for me.
I only saw small snippets from the video, but it looks fine to me.
