I'll be getting Rodea the Sky Soldier for Wii U, although I'll be getting it physically. I've had it pre-ordered for a long while; that Wii version also being included was a bonus I wasn't going to let pass me by.

Whether I'll be able to play the game the week I get it though; that is the true question. My younger brother seems adamant that the gaming room is going to become a Fallout 4 exclusive zone for many days to come. Luckily I plan to test out the Wii U version of Rodea first, so I can play it on the Gamepad as he uses the TV... so long as he doesn't strap the Gamepad to his arm so he can pretend to dual wield pip-boys.

Re: Yuji Naka Expresses Interest in Sequels to Ivy the Kiwi? and Rodea the Sky Soldier

Souldin

Q) What do you think?

A) Ivy the Kiwi and Rodea the Sky Soldier are games that I'm interested in. They are also games that I've yet to play, so whether I want a sequel or not depends on how I feel about the games themselves. That said, I do like seeing new franchises spawn, as well as having series and characters I can easily attribute as form of representation of a company, so I certainly have nothing against seeing either series becoming prominent franchises for Probe.

Q)Will you be picking up Rodea the Sky Soldier?

A) Yes; it's admittedly the Wii version that has me the most interested, but I'd likely be buying the Wii U copy anyway. In fact, whist it is the Wii version that interests me the most, I plan on playing the Wii U version first, probably due to it's access to Miiverse.

Q)What would you like to see come out of Prope next?

A) Yuji Naka was a programmer for the first two Phantasy Star's, so a wonderful turn based RPG would always be something to please me. Streetpass Mansion is my favourite of the Streetpass games, and I'd love to see Probe either expand on that idea, or make a sort of Wii U version of that style of game (no idea how it would work without the Streetpass element to it though).

Ultimately though, looking at what Yuji Naka's worked on over the years, I'd simply like to see him continue to work on such vibrant games. The majority of the games he has worked on have been very colourful and bright; with a clear charm to them. I'd like to see that sort of thing continue with Probe; something that Rodea the Sky Soldier looks to offer me.

@GuruOfGreatness @Vineleaf I was in the minority in believing Microsoft had the best E3 presentation at E3 2014, but it was due to that and a well timed crystal white Xbox One with Sunset Overdrive that I ended up getting my Xbox One that year. It's an amazing game; it's not what I would claim as the best game on the system, but it's certainly a key exclusive that I recommend whenever anyone talks about the Xbox One. The Xbox One has been a great purchase, even if I don't play it as much as my Wii U, and next year looks to have quite a few games I'm interested in for the system.

As for the PS4, I did sort of get one, but only as a birthday present for my older brother (his PS3 broke and he had moved house, I couldn't let him go that long without a video game system to play). When it comes to the PS4, I've yet to be given reasons to get one myself; the three third party series I do enjoy currently are all going to be available on my Xbox One (Dead or Alive, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, and BlazBlue). I really don't like the PS4 controller, and the closest thing to exclusives the PS4 has tempting to me are both PS Vita ports (Tearaway Unfolded and Gravity Rush Remastered)... oh, and it's getting a new Ratchet and Clank game. As it currently stands, I doubt I'll own a PS4 myself, I'll just get the few games I want and go over to my brother's house to play.

Re: SEGA Posts Financial Results, Sales are Down and Profits are up

@RainbowGazelle Hold on, which Sonic game are you suggesting was bad? If it's Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, to be fair to Sega, they didn't make that game. I don't disagree with you on it being bad, heck no, but it was developed by Big Red Button rather than Sonic Team.

I do disagree on your point about Sonic Colours, Sonic Generations, and Sonic Lost World being great. While Sonic Colours was certainly great, I found Sonic Generations to be appalling, and Sonic Lost World was mediocre despite how creative it was. Of course, opinions differ, I'm certainly in the minority with my views on Sonic Generations after all.

@JaxonH I found Sonic Generations to be the weakest of the three. It encapsulated all the weakest elements of Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colours gameplay style; overly long levels with far too much focus on boosting constantly, and they were rather boring to go through as well.

Sonic Colours meanwhile perfected that sort of gameplay, with decently paced levels that were enjoyable to trek through. It suffered from a weak story (which Generations also had), lack of different characters to use, and still quite a lot of focus on boosting, but was the best Sonic game of the 7th generation of consoles.

@DarthNocturnal I love Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed; my favourite racing game so far. I do hope to see Sumo Digital making a third game at some point, perhaps bringing back the characters that didn't reappear in the second game (I missed using Opa-Opa).

I also agree with you on the need for a Sonic Adventure 3... with Chao Garden. It's not a true Adventure game without a Chao Garden.

Re: Sega: Recent Sonic Games Haven't Been "Acceptable", Looking To Replicate The Past In Future Outings

Souldin

Q) Does this put a smile on your face as a Sonic fan, or do you possibly think that Rooke - and Sega itself - is being too harsh on the hedgehog's recent outings?

A) Well... I'm unsure. I can say that I wasn't pleased with the quality of some of the more recent Sonic games. I avoided Sonic Boom when I saw just how bad it was, and whilst I admired the creativity of Sonic Lost World, I did feel it was in severe need of polishing. I'm also one of the few who disliked Sonic Generations, feeling it rather bland. On these recent entries, I do feel the quality hasn't been as good as in the past, and don't disagree with Rooke's statement on these.

The part I do disagree with him on is the following "It's been tough translating that iconic side scrolling 2D experience from the 90s into 3D" as I feel they've done decent jobs of making 3D Sonic games in the past. I really enjoyed Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes, and Sonic Adventure is still my 3rd favourite video game of all time. It's not even nostalgia speaking for that last one, I did a playthrough of it for my YouTube channel not too long ago, and it's still as amazing as I remember it (my only complaint being the rather slim amount of levels for the other characters). Furthermore, whilst I do prefer the Adventure style of gameplay, I do consider Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colours to be decent experiences. Yes, even the werehog sections, I even would say I prefer them over the day time Sonic sections as I feel that style of gameplay wasn't truly nailed down until and with exception to, Sonic Colours.

This final part of the statement, "but Sonic is still huge for us so the new games will be more inspired by how it played in its heyday", also has me concerned. For starters, it sounds like they don't plan on giving Sonic a break and focusing on other Sega IPs. I really enjoy Sonic games and all, but I'm also a fan of the likes of Ristar and Streets of Rage and such, so it'd be nice to see Sonic take a break so they could work on these other Sega IPs.

The whole, 'inspired by its heydey' is also both confusing and worrying, as I feel both Sonic Generations and Sonic Lost World did go about this sort of thought. Sonic Generations included classic Sonic gameplay, whilst I feel Sonic Lost World is a very close transition of 2D Sonic gameplay into 3D. It has moments where Sonic can achieve great speed, some bits of exploration and differing routes, as well as slow paced and thoughtful platforming section. I've often compared what Sonic Lost World is to Super Mario 3D World, both being games that aim to translate their 2D gameplay styles into 3D and their is only one key difference between them; polish. Sonic Lost World had amazing ideas, but they were in need of fine tuning, and certain segments were quite frustrating. The other negatives I'd add to Sonic Lost World are actually the lack of it's 3D Sonic positives, such as a wider selection of characters and a decent storyline.

To me, although I do love Sonic The Hedgehog 3 to bits, I feel the best route for the Sonic series would be either to improve upon the Lost World formula, or to take on the Adventure style of games. Admittedly, the latter has shown how it could go wrong with Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, but that shouldn't happen again so long as they don't rush it and fine-tune it as much as they can... they could also add chao gardens again which would negate most flaws the main game has. Seriously, Chao Gardens were so much fun!

Re: Rumour: Retro Is Working On A Game It Pitched To Nintendo, And It's Not Metroid Prime 4

Souldin

Q) What's your take on these comments?

A) The whole, having their fill of Metroid comment does align with previous rumours and words in the wind that suggested that Retro Studios got tired of making so many Metroid games in a row. As for the not being able to work on two games at once aspect, that does kind of clash with previous statements from Nintendo (I think it was Miyamoto who said it) that Retro could work on two games at once. That said, such a statement doesn't specifically mean that both games would be of scope and resources.

On the possibility of Retro Studios making their own IP though; I say good on them. Now I'm not exactly keen on Nintendo making so many new IPs, I feel they have enough as it is and they should focus on reviving IPs instead, but I feel it would good for Retro Studios specifically to do one. They themselves have not made a new IPs before, and they have contributed a lot to two Nintendo IPs. I say they are deserving of the chance to make a new IP, and would look forward to what it turns out to be.

Re: Genei Ibun Roku #FE Directors Reveal More Details About the Game

Souldin

Q) What do you think?

A) The reasoning for the design change seems a bit silly, but I don't mind it. I just thought it was being done for stylistic purposes, and that reasoning alone wouldn't have bothered me too much.

As for the Wyvern Rider part, that would be pretty cool to see. I've been hearing about there being a total of nine party members in this game, so one of them being a Wyvern Rider is within the realm of possibility.

Q) Are you looking forward to this game?

A) It's a console based Turn Based Japanese Role Playing Game. That alone has me looking forward to this game. It also helps that I love the vibrancy and charm that's been shown off so far, and the battle system looks very pleasing to me.

Child of Light still remains my favourite game on the Wii U so far by quite a margin, so it'll be interesting to see how a much larger RPG does in terms of my... liking? I'm not sure what would be the right term here.

Q) When do you think we'll start hearing more information on the Western version?

A) Unless a Nintendo Direct pops up in November (gosh I miss those), I'm going to suggest December, as the game comes ever closer to it's Japanese release. I'm hoping for a release date for the UK/EU to be announced soon; it's currently my most wanted game of 2016!

Re: Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Details Revealed, Including amiibo Support and Rosalina

Souldin

@Mister_Wu I was actually trying to avoid outright saying who I thought the characters were... in case anyone didn't want to be spoiled.

I also did not find out until a little while after my comment here, that there was a gameplay video showing the roster screen, confirming that the earlier roster screenshot I saw was correct.

I too hope for there to be DLC, if only so I can actually use my main Mario Tennis character; Shy Guy. Until he pops up it seems I'll be sticking with Luigi or Daisy... maybe using a Mii if what that bottom icon on the roster select screen is supposed to be.

Re: Video: Say Hello to Two More Characters from Genei Ibun Roku #FE

Souldin

Mamori is adorable, as to be expected, and I really do like the choice of class for her. Meanwhile, Barry Goodman is just pure awesomeness. I really hope he is playable, he doesn't appear to be, and yet at the time I believe some of those images showed him within the battle arena. I hope to see this answered soon.

I know what to make of this game; it looks fun! The 'bright and peculiar aesthetic' is pleasing to my eyes, and I love what I've seen of the battle system. Here's hoping for a UK release date soon, I want to know when I can finally play this game.

Re: The Wii U's Broad Audience Means Star Fox Zero's Delay Won't Matter, Says Nintendo UK

Souldin

@the101 I'm not suggesting that Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water or Xenoblade Chronicles X fill in the role of the big holiday title; rather that Star Fox Zero does not fill in this role all too well either. It's not a niché series, but I wouldn't claim it to be of an A tier of recognisability.

Whilst Fox is a recognisable character, his series doesn't have quite the same recognisable draw as with a new Mario or SSB entry; as has been the case with the Wii U's two previous years. I'd even go so far as to suggest that due to it's genre, it might find itself with a less of an ability to draw people to it than that of the more niché Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Then there is of course people's reaction to it at E3, which certainly was mixed (though I myself loved what I saw). I just feel I've heard more talk of people wanting to buy a Wii U to play Xenoblade Chronicles X than that of wanting to do so to play Star Fox Zero. Likewise, when it comes to a family crowd, I feel games such as Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival will be more of a reason that they pick up a Wii U than the likes of Star Fox Zero. I do think Star Fox Zero itself could do very well; but I don't see it as the sort of holiday system selling game.

Re: Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Details Revealed, Including amiibo Support and Rosalina

Souldin

@amiiboacid My gosh; how did you know!?

Sorry to disappoint, but I am not Mariotehplumber. I may dislike Rosalina a bit (and really it's only her inclusion in SSB I'm not fond of), but his dislike of Rosalina, now that's just crazy. I'm also not ludicrously rich enough to buy and destroy that many Rosalina amiibo's.

In other news, I think I've been spotting the character select screen for this game online. The locked character's silhouettes can be seen in it and honestly... if the roster is true, then I'm hoping for DLC. It doesn't seem all too impressive, but I cannot tell if such screenshots are legit at this point.

Re: Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Details Revealed, Including amiibo Support and Rosalina

Souldin

Q) Are you pleased with the mode selection outlined, excited about training up an amiibo doubles partner?

A) For now, I am. I'd like for more modes to be detailed in future, but I've been so desperate for information that this amount will suffice for now. The addition of online play is absolutely wonderful, and the amiibo addition is nice; I may have to track down a Luigi amiibo to use for it.

Q) Itching to play as Rosalina?

A) I despise her with every fibre of my being... okay, perhaps a bit too harsh, but I do not care for her at all. I've never played either of the Super Mario Galaxy games, I didn't care much for her inclusion in Super Mario 3D World, and I really disliked her inclusion in Super Smash Bros for Wii U (though I shall avoid ranting about my dislike for SSBU, this post would go on way too long).

Rosalina was an expected inclusion; I'd be more excited for some unexpected newcomers, particularly if they expand outside of the main Mario universe and take advantage of the connected DK, Yoshi, Wario, and RPG series. That, or they could announce the return of Shy Guy. He's been my main in both Mario Tennis 64 and Mario Power Tennis, and it'd make my day to have him playable in the series once again.

Re: The Wii U's Broad Audience Means Star Fox Zero's Delay Won't Matter, Says Nintendo UK

Souldin

@Peek-a-boo Well, I do agree with you that there is a large gap in the Wii U line-up for the holidays, though a lack of appealing games does generally come under a matter of opinion.

For instance, I do think the Wii U has plenty of potential to capture family interests this holiday. It has exclusive figures for Skylanders, the previously released Splatoon and Super Mario Maker, as well as Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash and Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival (much to some fans dismay, I think this is quite likely to sell well). I wonder if Guitar Hero Live also could count, I'm unsure of it's age rating, but I imagine that still draws a party gaming interest.

As for myself, the Wii U has me hooked for this holiday thanks to Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, and Rodea The Sky Soldier. My Xbox One interests are looking a little slim this holiday, with Fable Legends still lacking a release date. Of course, it is a matter of opinion, and it is true that the Wii U certainly doesn't have as many games available on it due to a lesser amount of 3rd party support.

Re: The Wii U's Broad Audience Means Star Fox Zero's Delay Won't Matter, Says Nintendo UK

Souldin

@Tsurii Usually I answer each of the questions individually, but in this case, my opinion has pretty much been stated within the first comment.

Star Fox is not nearly as big of a title as people seem to think, and I do not think that it's inclusion within the holiday season would make a whole lot of difference for Wii U sales (particularly given quite a few people's reaction to Star Fox Zero's E3 showing). It might make a difference in sales for the game itself, though I think Star Fox Zero will benefit more in sales from receiving improvements from a delay than being released in the lead up to Christmas.

Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off a Few More Challengers in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash

Souldin

It's nice to see a little more of this game, even though we didn't get much out of this short trailer. The game looks great graphically, and it's nice to see some of the courts being shown off.

I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of the mega mushroom mechanic yet, it doesn't seem nearly as interesting as the power shot mechanic in Mario Power Tennis. It was also a little disappointing that we didn't get any newcomers revealed... or Shy Guy... really waiting on Shy Guy to pop up.

Still looking forward to this game, although I'm really wishing for more info on it to pop up soon.

Re: Video: This Pokkén Tournament Commercial Should Provide a Timely Reminder of Wii U Release Hype

Souldin

@khaosklub Whilst I believe the developers of the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games are Cyber Connect 2, Namco are certainly involved with the game in some way. I just had a look at my copy of Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution and there is indeed a Bandai Namco Games logo on the box.

Also, I was not aware that Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm series were generally considered bad. A quick look on Metacritic seems to indicate that they've generally reviewed well with both reviewers and users, though I'm aware this won't be perfectly accurate.

I for one happen to really like the Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm games. It helps that I'm a fan of the Naruto series, but their core gameplay is a very enjoyable as well. Ultimately, it is all a matter of opinions. For another instance, I happened to enjoy Metroid: Other M. It's a pretty fun game in my books.

Re: Video: This Pokkén Tournament Commercial Should Provide a Timely Reminder of Wii U Release Hype

Souldin

Q) Are you still excited about this one coming to Wii U in 2016?

A) I'd certainly rate it amongst my top 6 most looked forward to games of 2016. I love fighting games, I love Pokémon, and now I see the two of them combining for a spin-off; it has naturally gotten me excited for it's upcoming Wii U release.

I really like the Halloween update they've gone and done; really cool. I hope to see more of these things in the future, and hope that the Wii U version will also get these nifty changes when various holidays approach each year.

I do wish they'd reveal some more characters though. Normally I wouldn't criticise a smaller roster for a first instalment, but Pokémon does have a large selection to pull from and I've still yet to see any playable Gen 5 or 6 Pokémon. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait, but I do hope we start seeing some more Pokémon reveals soon.

Re: Yes, Fatal Frame's Lingerie Outfits Have Been Removed From The Western Version

Souldin

In regards to this news, I have two... differing opinions on it; I believe that would be the right term for it.

On the one hand, I feel the Zero Suit Samus and Hyrule Warrior's Zelda costumes are much better. The Hyrule Warrior's Zelda has a wonderfully designed costume, and both costumes emphasise the recent connections between Koei Tecmo and Nintendo.

On the other hand, I'm disappointed this came at the cost of replacing something, and something that there was no need to replace. The lingerie outfits had little appeal to me, but I see no reason as to why they should be removed. Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water is already an M rated game, and with all the other aspects of the game, some scantily clad costumes seem very tame in comparison.

Re: Review: Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (Wii U)

Souldin

"Excellent implementation of the Wii U GamePad"

As my primary reason for getting this game, I'm very pleased to hear this as a consistent thing from reviews. The review addresses a great deal of the aspects of the game, and all of it sounds rather enjoyable. It's a shame to hear that the water aspect doesn't live up to it's potential, but ah well, everything else sounds great and I hope to enjoy the new experiences I have with this game.

I must admit, given the rather small criticisms highlighted within the review, I'm surprised it received a 7/10 instead of an 8. Not that it bothers me, a 7 is a great score to have, and the wonderfully written review full of details is far more important than any number score posted at the end.

Re: Video Game Industry in Scotland 'Could Eclipse Oil Boom'

Souldin

Okay, I'm going to love seeing how many people get the sub-title joke.

In any case, it's nice to hear that Scotland (and unless they gain independence in the future, the UK as well) is gaining a healthy video game industry... even if I'm unaware of any games or series that has specifically come from Scotland. In any case, good on them, more countries having thriving and developing video game companies is always pleasing to hear.

On another note, the point about Rockstar Games confuses me. I had a feeling they were a UK based game company and yet the Wikipedia article states their headquarters are in New York. Said Wikipedia article doesn't seem to go into much depth regarding the history of the company either. I'm also trusting a Wikipedia article as my only source... maybe that is the primary problem.

Re: Sources Suggest Nintendo NX Is A Fusion Of Home And Mobile Hardware Powered By "Industry-Leading" Tech

Souldin

My stance on the NX is the same as it has always been; I have no intention of updating from my Wii U until holidays 2017 or later. I plan to at least ride out a 5 year lifetime on the Wii U, regardless of when Nintendo intend to release their next home console. None of the 'rumoured' information here changes that opinion.

That said, if this information is true... the part about the specs is not something I care too much about. The part about third parties receiving development kits is pleasing to hear, as it would be good for Nintendo to try and get them more involved early on. Finally, I do like the concept of a handheld/console hybird and this combination would allow for the Wii U gamepad concept to live on through the NX, so it something I approve of. Of course, none of this is confirmed, so who knows what the NX will be, how Nintendo will go about releasing it, or when.

Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 2 - 1999 to 2002

Souldin

I did not see the previous Pokémon Retrospective pop up; it sounds like an enjoyable series to read through so I'll look forward to each of them as they arrive. I should remember to check out this first Retrospective sometime after this one.

Anyway, you said to feel free to share my thoughts and so I shall. Pokémon Generation 2... is my least liked of the generations. This primarily being because I greatly dislike Pokémon Gold and Silver. Yes, it's a rare opinion; but I happen to find Pokémon Gold and Silver to be the weakest entries of the mainline series.

There are admittedly a lot of good points to Generation 2, as it did introduce a lot of amazing things such as Pokémon genders, day and night, and berries (though I also feel these were not properly fleshed out until later generations). It introduced two new types and plenty more attacks, helping to balance the overpowered psychic types of Gen 1, and it also features a Pokémon I adore; Dunsparce, Sunkern and Sunflora, Wooper and Quagsire, Ledyba and Ledian, Spinarak and Ariados, Crobat, Swinub and Pilloswine, Natu and Xatu, Girafarig, Slugma and Macargo. I'd say Totodile is easily one of my favourite starter Pokémon; in the top three alongside Mudkip and Chimchar.

I guess my main problems with this generation come down solely to how Pokémon Gold and Silver were handled. I'm not a fan of the two region implementation; it makes the Johto region feel squished together in it's locations and landmarks. It also spreads out the newer Pokémon across an absurd length; with Pokémon such as Slugma not being available until the end of the game. Levelling was also an absolute pain; with grass typically hosting under-leveled Pokémon that made it slow and annoying to level up. In a sense, Gold and Silver never was able to make Johto, or even it's own Pokémon feel distinct enough; even Diamond and Pearl managed the former.

As for the spin-off games, I never really got to play Pokémon Stadium 2 much, but I do distinctly remember how awesome it was to be able to use my Pokémon in the mini-games. I really like Pokémon Puzzle Challenge, but as a huge fan of Lip and the original cast of Panel De Pon, I'd have preferred it if it had stayed as a Panel De Pon game. I think I've played the Panel De Pon mode more often than the Pokémon version of the game. Finally, as for Pokémon Card Game GB2: Here Comes Team Great Rocket!... I naturally never played it. I have played the first Pokémon Card Game though, and I absolutely loved it. I'm saddened that we never got the sequel, would have really liked that.

Re: Video: New Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water Trailer Is Not For The Faint-Hearted

Souldin

I think this trailer is pretty much one of the old Japanese trailers, though with English voice acting this time, which it's nice to know what the protagonist sounds like in English. An amusing part about the trailer for me is that I found the part where they were showing the Wii U gamepad and it's gameplay usage the creepiest; it's amazing what the right music can do to a scene.

As I've said many a time before, I'm looking forward to trying this series out with this particular entry. I have my physical copy pre-ordered, and look forward to it arriving on the 30th October.

@abbyhitter Funny thing about that, as Project Zero is closer to what the series is called in Japan, where it is known as Zero (at least according to Wikipedia). I still would say though that Fatal Frame does actually seem like a better name for the series.

Re: Video: Indulge in the Weirdness of This Genei Ibun Roku #FE Footage

Souldin

I on the otherhand, do know what to make of this game so far; it looks awesome! It's a vibrant looking, turn based JRPG on Wii U; basically a recipe to make a must-buy game for me. Heck, my favourite game of this generation of game systems is currently a turn based RPG (Child of Light), so naturally I hunger for more arriving on the Wii U (which reminds me, I really need to download Costume Quest 2 at some point). Even though there are plenty of details I'm sure I'm not privy to with this game at the moment, Genei Ibun Roku #FE is currently my most anticipated game on all of the systems I own.

The first trailer has gotten me hyped for the game... and I was already hyped to begin with. I love the cheery music at the start, and then the sudden tone to the darker tune. It's also nice to see all of the main playable cast in action, along with their mirages.

As for the second trailer, well, that has also got me excited for the game; both trailers make me want this game more and more. I really like the focus on the second trailer, and it will be great to finally learn what they are saying in it; though I think no words are needed to accompany Itsuki and Chrom's mid-air bro-fist.

Re: Scalebound was Originally Planned to be a Wii Game

Souldin

@juliobrand Oh, no, don't worry about that, I wasn't offended by that at all. I appreciate knowing that someone noticed my comment alone, and I actually found your reply to my comment quite amusing. My response to you was an attempt to play along with your comment. There is no need to apologise; you gave me a good laugh.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2015 - Q4 Edition

Souldin

I think I'll go about listing my opinions on each of these games here then;

Xenoblade Chronicles X - I reckon this will be the most popular choice amongst folks here, but honestly, this game doesn't appeal to me. Xenoblade Chronicles reminded me too much of an MMO in terms of gameplay style, at least from what I saw, and this new entry in the series drives that impression further and further to the front of my mind. Certainly not a game for me.

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water - I already have the physical copy of this game preordered, so it's clearly one I look forward to. I've never tried out the series before, but it looks awesome, this entry looks awesome, and I think the use of the Wii U gamepad is awesome. I'm looking forward to trying this game out, and as such, it's one of the games I voted for.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash - I may be annoyed at the lack of info we have on this game currently, but I am still anticipating it a great deal. It's a new console based Mario Tennis after all. Mario Tennis 64 was an absolute blast to play, whereas Mario Power Tennis is my absolute favourite Mario sports game, and likely one of my favourite Mario and Gamecube games. I hope further info meet in line with my expectations, and this is another one of the games I voted for.

Animal Crossing: amiibo festival - I'm unlikely to get this game. At the same time, this is the most interested I've ever been in an Animal Crossing game before, with the series always coming across as a poor man's Harvest Moon to me... without the farming. I do like seeing a series as big as Animal Crossing receive a spin-off, usually that befalls only to the Mario or Pokémon series, but I do wish it wasn't tied to the amiibos (despite my overall approval of amiibo's).

Guitar Hero Live - I've never been interested in this series. That said, I do give Activision the thumbs up for releasing this on the Wii U, unlike the competing Rock Band 4.

Rodea: The Sky Soldier - This was the 3rd game I voted for, though if I only had one vote for these ten games, this is the one that would still have my vote. For this holiday season, across all the systems I own, Rodea: The Sky Soldier is my most looked forward to game. I preordered it as soon as I could and will treasure owning the original Wii version of the game. I think I'll have my first go at playing through the Wii U version though, as I can share my experiences on Miiverse as I play through this graphically and story appealing game, with gameplay that looks fun and intriguing. I can't wait to get my hands on this game!

FAST Racing Neo - This game looks awesome... but it's not for me. I can see the amount of love that has been put in it, so I do wish it the best of luck in terms of it being a quality product and one that sells well.

Poncho - Ah, Poncho... this game... this... what is this?

[After watching the trailer] Well, I love the look of the characters; the main character in particular. Otherwise I'm not really all that interested in this game, at least based on what I've seen from that trailer.

Shadow Puppeteer - Okay, another game I'm only just hearing about, let me watch the trailer first.

[After watching the trailer] It kind of reminds me of A Shadow's Tale (which I finally managed to track down; now I just need to find Deadly Creatures), but with Co-op. It doesn't quite grasp my interest in the same way. I think when it comes to indie games for this year, I think I'll go for something along the lines of Freedom Planet, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, or maybe even Typo Man. Speaking of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero - This is the game that got me interested in checking the Shantae series out. Admittedly, I didn't have much fun with the Game Boy Colour game, and I've yet to try out the recent pirate game that I downloaded whilst it was cheap (I may give it a whirl soon though), but this game looks incredible. The artstyle looks amazing on this game, a breath of fresh air compared to the more retro aesthetic the other indie games usually have, and everything about it looks fun and lively. Hopefully I'll enjoy my time with Shantae And The Pirate's Curse, for if I do, then I shall see to downloading this game.

So to wrap up my likely, very long comment; Rodea The Sky Soldier, Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water, and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash are the three Wii U games coming out this holiday time that I'm looking forward to. That said, I'm also interested in Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, and may purchase it depending on other factors... also, if Freedom Planet arrives in the EU before the end of the year, that is already a definite must have from me.

Re: Scalebound was Originally Planned to be a Wii Game

Souldin

@Vineleaf You're looking forward to both Scalebound and Arslan: The Warriors of Legend as well? Neat, both of those are among the four Xbox One retail games that I'm looking forward to next year. I'd go so far as to say that Scalebound is currently my 2nd most anticipated game of 2016 so far (Genei Ibunroku #FE holds onto the spot of my most wanted 2016 game).

Also, if this year's E3 was any indication, Platinum Games seem to be doing just that. I believe they got a mention in a good four of the conferences and are working on a game for each of the current gen consoles right now.

@juliobrand Well I wasn't too social in the past, but I've improved in that aspect in recent years, and I've always possessed a fairly decent ability to talk for long periods. As to whether I'm a 'hoot' at these parties, I'm not too sure, I don't think it'd be correct to judge that quality myself.

Re: Star Fox Zero Delayed To Achieve a "Platinum Feel" in Quality

Souldin

Q) Do you think the delay on Star Fox Zero will pay off?

A) From my point of view, the game already looks pretty fun. It also looks like the Gamepad has been put to good use, but if this delay can not only ensure that there are more' fun and interesting ways' to utilise the two screens, as well as giving the game a trademark 'Platinum' feel to it (which I'm hoping means the epic and over-the-top action and events that I've witnessed through the likes of Wonderful 101), then it'll certainly pay off for me.

My primary interest in this game is less the Star Fox brand, and more the Wii U Gamepad usage, so more of that implement in more effective and natural ways will be great. As to whether it'll pay off for the wider audience, and ensure more sales, I'm unsure. If they can get it to feel more natural, to allow more people to adapt to the controls quicker, that will be great in making people feel more inclined to try out the game (of course, what games and game styles people adapt to efficiently will differ from person to person). I think part of the problem for a lot of people seems to be the graphical aspect of the game, which I can admit was not mind blowing but I didn't have any problems with, so part of it depends on how they can improve the game graphically whilst still keeping to the consistent 60 frames per second.

Re: Scalebound was Originally Planned to be a Wii Game

Souldin

Q) What do you think?

A) Again with these very broad first questions. Again, I shall leave this question to last.

Q) Would you have liked to have seen this on the Wii or Wii U?

A) I certainly wouldn't have minded seeing this on Wii or Wii U, the Nintendo consoles are my primary means of gaming. I also love the unique features the Wii and Wii U can offer, such as motion control (oh gosh, this game with Skyward Sword controls would be epic), quick menu on the Gamepad such as commands for the dragon, and off-tv play alone is an awesome feature.

At the same time, Scalebound does give me something to play on the Xbox One, which is currently a rather small selection for myself. Admittedly, Scalebound is coming out in the year where there are at least three other Xbox One games I'm wanting to buy and play, but still, it gives me something to look forward to on my Xbox One for the end of 2016.

Q) What else would you like to see out of Platinum Games?

A) Well I went to my backlog and finished off Wonderful 101 this week. It's put me in the mood for a sequel, not sure if that would come under Wonderful 102 or whether they'd up the stakes higher than that and call in Wonderful 201... or just Wonderful 101: The sequel. It'd be preferable on Wii U, unless the NX turns out to also be a console with a touch screen (which given rumours, looks likely).

Also, whilst I've yet to actually play the two Bayonetta games I do have (I plan to get around to it at some point, someday), it would be pretty cool to have an entire Bayonetta trilogy of games available on Wii U.

For the most part though, my hopes for Platinum Games are that Scalebound proves to be as awesome to play as it looks so far, and that a Wonderful 101 sequel will eventually get made.

Q) What do you think?

A) I prefer the usage of dragons over dinosaurs. I also prefer the idea of fighting alongside your dragon, rather than just commanding it from a distance, so I'm pretty much okay with the changes they've made overtime.

I do feel a lot of people are judging Drew before we get a proper understanding of the character, and basing their impressions of him solely off his design. I admit, it's hardly the most original of designs, but I look forward to learning about the character, his development through the game, and his interactions with Thuban.

Re: Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash Could Possibly be the Last Game in the Franchise

Souldin

Q) What do you think?

A) That's a rather broad question to ask first. I'll save my answer for it at the end of my comment.

Q) Will you be picking up Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash when it releases?

A) More than likely. With Star Fox Zero being delayed, I'll have a bit of spare money, and if I can get a few more days of work in before the holidays (on-and-off job, never know when you'll have work), I may have the money to spare on this game.

Q) What do you think this series needs to be successful?

A) I would say there are three things the Chibi-Robo series needs to be successful. First of all, keep the series more consistent. To my knowledge, out of the five Chibi-Robo games, only two of them play like the original game... including the original. I also believe that the original's proper sequel also only released in Japan. For a company who generally are more gameplay first rather than character orientated, Chibi-Robo has rarely stuck to a main style of gameplay.

Secondly, promote and release the games more often. I remember the original Chibi-Robo: Plug Into Adventure (I think it was called), only from Nintendo magazines. I think I may have once spotted it at a market sale. It was hard to find in stores, and I've never seen any of the Chibi-Robo games given much spotlight. I think the recent eShop title had the most attention given to it, and I'm not even sure that came out in the EU. As for the releasing part, making certain titles Japan only or arriving late/never in the EU doesn't help. A bit of promotion could be given to Chibi-Robo through the virtual console, perhaps release both the DS games on the Wii U, might help.

Third... put him in Smash Bros. I think a lot of people learn about the majority of Nintendo characters from Super Smash Bros, rather than the other way around.

Q) What do you think?

A) Well I think the inclusion of the Amiibo with certain copies of the game will help it most of all. In fact, it's kind of sad that such a thing is the best means of promoting this game. Otherwise, I do worry that it might not sell well enough.

Of course, I'm not even sure how well they need it to sell in order for it to be a success, so what might be little for other Nintendo series might be enough for Chibi-Robo.

As for the game itself, whilst I would have preferred to be able to try out the main series of Chibi Robo gameplay, I do think it looks appealing. I can understand the criticism's of it looking rather generic, but it's cutesy look and overall feel, kind of reminds me of a Kirby platformer. As a huge Kirby fan, this is a definite plus for me, and the recent trailers have made me more interested in the game each time. Here's wishing it the best of luck!

Re: First Impressions: Taking A Shot At Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water

Souldin

Q) Won't you join us?

A) Well, I've already pre-ordered the limited edition physical copy of the game, so I'll indeed be joining you soon. Hearing it was limited had me checking Game's website every day and night until it finally popped up, ready to pre-order.

Q) Forever?

A) That would depend on the quality on the game, though I imagine my time playing it would not be eternal, regardless of how high a quality it is.

In any case, these first impressions are most pleasing to me, given that I've already secured a purchase of this game. It eases the mind a bit, given this will be my first time playing a Project Zero (Fatal Frame) game.

I'd say I have two reasons for wanting this fifth game despite having not played previous entries. First off, I've become quite a fan of the Dead or Alive series in recent years, and have been trying out a variety of Koei Tecmo's games, with Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water being the next Koei Tecmo game I'll be trying out. Secondly, I love the Wii U gamepad, and in turn, I love how this game is set to utilise the Wii U gamepad. If I were to add a third reason, it'd simply be that the game looks fun.

All in all, I'm looking forward to Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water. I'm rather unfamiliar with horror games or this series, so there are plenty of mysteries for me to anticipate as I receive many a new experience when my limited edition copy arrives.

Re: Natsume’s Pocky & Rocky With Becky Arrives On The Wii U Virtual Console Next Month

Souldin

I've never played any of the Pocky & Rocky games, but I am interested in trying it out. I may purchase this on release, or wait until a little while afterwards. I'll have to take into consideration on whether I should play it on my own straight away or save it up and play it with my brother for our YouTube channel at some later date. It is certainly a game I'm wanting to purchase and play at some point though.

Speaking of Natsume, has any more info on Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories popped up as of late?

Re: Nintendo UK Store Serves Up Incentives for Ordering Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash

Souldin

Q) Are you planning on picking up Ultra Smash, with or without fuzzy gifts?

A) I plan to pick it up without a fuzzy gift, as I've already pre-ordered it from my nearest Game store.

Whilst I am looking forward to Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, we currently know little about it, so I'd rather be hearing more information about the game rather than what bonuses come with a pre-order.

Of course, my excitement for it is due to it being a console Mario Tennis game, and I absolutely love the N64 and Gamecube entries. It still would be appreciated to see more of the game, the character selection, and what modes it has.

Re: Factor 5's Lost Wii Kid Icarus Boasted A Dark Hero With 60fps Airborne Action

Souldin

Does... does Pit have a monobrow in that picture? That was honestly the first thing I noticed, his eyebrow seems oddly noticeable.

In any case, whilst I do feel the whole dark aspect probably would have 'missed the point', I will admit that I do like the concept of the story and feel that, depending on the direction, it could have worked in a way that still allowed it to feel like Nintendo's Kid Icarus. I do like the way they tied in the gameplay concept and story concept of Pit being able to fly freely due to being older, and some of those older Pit designs were okay.

Ultimately though, if the pitch took a darker take on the series, I feel that there are Nintendo IPs better suited for that, including ones that could have been revived. I wonder whether Factor 5 could have brought about a revival of Mach Rider, though if their main work have been on flight games, then perhaps they could have expanded Nintendo's X series. Anyone else have any ideas on Nintendo IPs that could have worked better with this tonal concept?

Re: Mario History: Super Mario 3D World - 2013

Souldin

I remember being quite alone in my excitement for Super Mario 3D World when it was first revealed at E3. Of course there were others, but much like what has been said in the article, a large amount of people started to anticipate this game after trying out the game or with it's second revealing.

For me, my interest was grasped with the reveal of it's style, and my excitement grew greatly upon seeing you could play as Luigi, Peach, and Toad in Super Mario Bros 2 fashion. Then they showed off that it was multiplayer and I was yelling with excitement. I was eager to play this game, my mind filled with high hopes, and my anticipation at it's peak levels. As for my thoughts on Super Mario 3D World after playing it?

Super Mario 3D World is the Mario game I've always dreamed of. Well, it's the Mario game I've dreamed of since learning that Mario was going to have a 3D entry.

I loved playing Super Mario All-Stars (Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels and Super Mario World in particular), and had great fun with both the Super Mario Land games, but was rather disappointed by Super Mario 64. Super Mario 64 didn't feel like a Mario game to me, the world was too open, it lacked speed and fluidity, and going back through each world multiple times rather than individual levels just never felt like fun to me. I know it's got plenty of solid elements to it, but Super Mario 64 was disappointing and boring to me, and is one of my least liked video games of all. I would go on to try out Super Mario Sunshine, and whilst I did enjoy it more than Super Mario 64, I came to terms at that point that I just did not enjoy 3D Mario games.

Super Mario 3D World was different though. It translated the fast paced and plentiful of unique levels of 2D Mario games into a 3D environment, utilising the 3D environment to better improve the multiplayer aspect found within the New Super Mario Bros games, and utilising the unique character elements of Super Mario Bros 2. I can understand why fans of the 3D Mario entries may not enjoy this game, but to me, Super Mario 3D World was the Mario game I had hoped for when the N64 was about.

Super Mario 3D World stands as my favourite Mario platformer to date, my 3rd favourite Wii U game so far, and whether it's the chaos of battling for a crown in multiplayer, or taking on the challenges of each of the unqiue and wonderfully crafted levels solo; it's always a ton of fun to play.

Re: Genei Ibun Roku #FE Japanese Release Date And Bundles Revealed

Souldin

So it's called Genei Ibun Roku #FE rather Genei Ibunroku #FE... huh, learn something new everyday.

In any case, given some of the things included in these pre-order bonuses (specifically the concert ticket), I doubt we'll get these exact offerings available worldwide. We should at least be able to have the costumes as a pre-order bonus, something I'd quite like, and if the art book and CD soundtrack also end up available as a pre-order bonus outside of Japan, that would be even more pleasing.

This still stands as my most looked forward to game on the Wii U at the moment, and the pre-order bonuses will make my eventual purchase even sweeter. Now I just have to wait until Game actually updates their pre-order list so that they don't have both Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem and Genei Ibun Roku #FE listed (I have no idea which will end up being used as the official name for release in the EU).

Re: Watch Chibi-Robo! Running Around In His Mario Costume In The Latest Zip Lash Gameplay Trailer

Souldin

Q) It's out on 11th October in North America and 6th November in Europe, will you be reserving a place in the Chibi-House?

A) I've been on the fence with this game quite a bit, but given that I have more money than expected currently, as well as how awesome the trailer has made this game out to be, I think I will be purchasing Chibi-Robo Zip Lash. I kind of wish I'd settled on this decision earlier, as I doubt I'll be able to pre-order a copy with the Chibi-Robo Amiibo at this point, but oh well.

Re: Monster Hunter Stories Will Bring Its Own Brand of Turn-Based Battling to 3DS

Souldin

I saw the words turn-based in the title of this article and so had to click on it. I have little to no interest in the Monster Hunter series as a whole, but a turn based RPG, that does capture my interest.

Admittedly, from the sounds of things here, this comes across as Capcom's attempt to make a Pokémon game. As someone whose been Fossil Fighters Frontier a lot, which is effectively also in the same style of RPG as Pokémon, I have no problems with Capcom doing it. Of course, if Capcom were truly wanting to have me a purchase a turn based game from them, they'd make a new (non-mobile) entry in the Breath of Fire series, but alas, this could do well enough.

I like the sound of the plot and art style, and I think I'll be keeping an eye and ear out for more information on this game. I shall put it down as a Maybe for now.

Re: Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash Will Support Plenty of amiibo, Genre Given as 'Whipping Platformer'

Souldin

Q) Are you looking forward to this one on 3DS?

A) Whilst not exactly a priority purchase, Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash has been remaining firmly in the back of my mind to the point wherein I may consider purchasing it if I have spare money at the time. After I purchase the 'must have' Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX, then when it comes to 3DS games that are out this year, I may decide to pick up either Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash or Samurai Chronicles 3.

As to what is drawing me so much to this consideration, I'd probably say there are two factors to it. One of those would be the gameplay, as whilst I'd prefer to be able to try out the original Chibi-Robo style of gameplay, the gameplay of this 3DS entry is giving me a bit of a Kirby vibe and that is a vibe I love to bits. The primary reason though is because of the IP of Chibi-Robo itself; I love it when Nintendo utilise their more obscure IPs as well as when they allow these IPs to be experimented with rather than just utilising Mario for it once again. A purchase of the game would go a small way in helping the Chibi-Robo IP to flourish, as well as to encourage Nintendo to keep using more of their backlog of amazing IPs.

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Super Mario Platformer? - 30th Anniversary Edition

Souldin

As a fan of the 2D Mario games, I'm pleased to see that it's Super Mario World that is currently the top of the poll. That said, my vote went towards Super Mario 3D World, an incredibly fun game that perfectly transitioned the wonderful 2D Mario gameplay into the 3D form. Super Mario 3D World game was the game I truly wanted when Mario took a step into the 3D world, and whilst it's been a long wait, it's brilliant to finally be able to play a 3D Mario game that I actually enjoy.

On other matters of the poll, it's rather sad to see Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, and both the Super Mario Land games have so few a votes. Super Mario Land 2 was perhaps my first Nintendo game I ever played, and Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels was my favourite of the 2D Mario games (well, the version of it that you get to play on the Super Mario All-Stars pack at least).

Re: Review: Hatsune Miku: Project MIRAI DX (3DS)

Souldin

This review felt surprisingly lengthy. After the paragraphs concerning the core gameplay, I expected it to wrap up with a paragraph quickly mentioning the non-rhythm based elements of the game, followed by a overall summary and conclusion. Instead, I think you've managed to have a decently written paragraph detailing just about every single aspect of the game. It ended up making for a lovely in-depth review for me to read, as well as to increase my already high excitement for this game, knowing that there is so much content packed in it.

Anyway, I had a great time with Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA 2nd, it being my 3rd favourite PSP game... and I couldn't even understand half the menu's within the game. So just being able to play a Vocaloid game with english menu's was enough to have me thrilled about the game. Along with differing ways to play and additional features such as the puyo puyo mini-game, I'm pretty much assured to have a great time once I pick this game up.

Less than a week to go now and I'm looking forward to it!

Re: Video: Here's What Rare's Final GameCube Title Should Have Looked Like

Souldin

Q) Would you have liked to have played it on that particular console?

A) I'd probably say no, only because Kameo: Elements of Power was one of the two games that my family had available at the Xbox 360's launch, and it would have given us less to play for that system. In fact, due to it being the game my little brother opted to have when obtaining his Xbox 360, we might not have purchased an Xbox 360 until much later if Kameo wasn't a game available to entice my brother.

Perhaps if it were made for the Gamecube as originally intended, the game might have aged better, which I find to be the one key flaw with the game. It has what some might term, a 'launch-title' feel. As if it were made to get used to the new system.

All in all though, I enjoyed playing Kameo: Elements of Power as it were on the Xbox 360. Honestly, it's the Rare IP I'd like to see Microsoft start utilising once again... after Jet Force Gemini, which is still my favourite Rare game.

Re: Bandai Namco's Project Treasure Is Now Called Lost Reavers, Beta Test Incoming

Souldin

Ah, I was wondering when we would hear more on this game. It's nice to know it has an official name now. Lost Reavers is a pretty memorable name, though I must admit, I've kind of gotten used to referring to it as Project Treasure.

Anyway, I do look forward to this game. Sure, I wish it had a local multiplayer option (split screen worked back in the day so there is no reason for it not work now) and Multi-View Action Scene isn't quite as unique as they make it seem, but it looks fun.

I like the concept of tracking down relics, and then having to project the person who has obtained the relic (or rely on others to protect you as you secure the relic). It seems like there will be quite a few times when teamwork is required, and you'll have some players reviving or solving puzzles whilst the others fight off enemies.

Character wise, I do hope to see more revealed in future. So far, I'd say I prefer Sayuri most of all, though Shadowstake (I think that's his name, it's hard to see it in this video) does look more like the type of character I'd enjoy playing as. Anyway, this game is going to be free-to-play (or free-to-start, we'll have to wait and see), so I'll try it out at the very least. If I enjoy it, I'll dedicate some time to it, and if I feel it's pricing is fair and the rewards are worth it, maybe even spend some money towards it.

I look forward to trying Lost Reavers out!

Re: Nintendo Confirms Super Mario Maker Console Bundle and Key Release Dates for North America and Europe

Souldin

Q) What are you looking forward to the most?

A) In terms of releases for this year, I'm still looking forward to Rodea the Sky Soldier most of all.

The European announcements for release dates is a bit light here, which is a shame. I'm unsure when Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash will release for Europe, and given Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon's delay to 2016 for the EU (a game I was planning on getting my brother for Christmas), I do worry. Speaking of games I was going to get my brother for Christmas, one of the options I've considered is the physical copy of Shovel Knight, though I see that hasn't got a confirmed release date for EU either.

Still, I'm happy to hear of the release dates for both Star Fox Zero and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, both being games I'm looking forward to. It's odd that their both releasing on the same day, but oh well, I can buy both at once easily enough. I'm also relieved that I'll be able to get a physical copy of Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water; it's a shame about those wanting a physical copy in the US.

Re: Poll: Is Pokkén Tournament The Wii U Release You've Been Waiting For?

Souldin

Q) Are you expecting Pokkén Tournament to be a hit, are you excited about it?

A) I'm not excited about how this question has been phrased, particularly when the first half of the question is pretty much asked a second time with the latter question. As such, I'll only answer the latter half of this question.

Yes, I'm excited for Pokkén Tournament. I enjoy fighting games, I enjoy Pokémon, and as someone who didn't enjoy Super Smash Bros for Wii U, has not been able to enjoy much Pokémon fighting action as of late. So naturally I'm overjoyed at the prospect of this game coming to Wii U.

Q) Will it provide some vital continued momentum for the Wii U into 2016?

A) I think Pokkén Tournament will sell very well, and I think it will give the Wii U some momentum, though I do not think it will have a long lasting affect on sales. As in, there will probably be a big boost in sales for the first two weeks to a month, and then it will simmer back down to a more steady, smaller level.

Re: Pokémon Brawler Pokkén Tournament Coming To Wii U Early Next Year

Souldin

I do enjoy fighting games a ton, and when I ended up feeling disappointed about Super Smash Bros for Wii U, I started to consider purchasing another fighting game to play on my Wii U. I held out on doing so as I believed Pokkén Tournament would eventually arrive on Wii U and finally, it has been confirmed for a Wii U release.

I didn't expect it as a Spring 2016 release though; it seems I'm going to get know mercy after this years Christmas period.

@Yorumi From what I've heard about this game in terms of gameplay, it doesn't play strictly like Tekken. Heck, I keep seeing someone on this site compare it more so to the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games than that of Tekken.

In the case of people being interested in Pokken Tournament more so than that of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, it could simply come down to people being fans of Pokémon but not fans of Tekken. Simply having the characters or series can be a draw to people, who may otherwise not be interested in a game like Tekken because of not being interested by the characters, themes, or storyline. Other times it can also serve as a gateway for people to try out these other series, who may have avoided them due to not knowing a decent point of entry
