Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Revealed For Nintendo Switch, New Starters Shown

Souldin

Q) So, what do you think?

A) Given my dislike of recent Pokémon entries such as Sun & Moon as well as Let's Go, I'm surprised to find myself adoring everything I've seen in this trailer. I'm feeling optimistic about Pokémon once again and it feels great.

The region looks lovely and linear, the trainer designs are fantastic (the male trainer finally doesn't look like a blue Red and the female trainer is adorable), gyms are back, and the core gameplay looks to remain unchanged. My worries that they'd try to alter things as Breath of the Wild and Oddyssey did for the Zelda and Mario franchises respecitvely, two games I did not like the direction of, appear to have been averted.

My hopes here now are for to be some more challenge, perhaps in the form of a difficulty mode option, and a story that is as enjoyable as Black and White's. Gen 5 has yet to be beaten as my favourite Pokémon games (and amongst my top 10 favourite games of all time) but as I look to a Pokémon game based around my country, I have hopes that it could very well achieve that goal.

As for starters, Sobble is my favourite of the trio!

Re: Random: New York Times Crossword Puzzle Forgets That The Wii U Was A Thing

Souldin

Q) Do you have any fond memories of the Wii U era?

A) Plenty; I remember being absolutely enthralled by Wind Waker HD, spending nights on a swivel chair and holding my breath as I played Project Zero, an cackling as I outdo snipers in Splatoon as a roller user. From the many days on Miiverse with the system to recording my first playthrough for my channel; I have a lot of fondness for the system, even if it doesn't stand as my favourite console of all. I have so far found more personal attachment to it than the Switch though, with the latter having yet to hook me.

Q) Shall we start a 'positive Wii U thoughts' thread in the comment section to make the poor thing feel better?

A) I don't think you can make the system feel better, but just delighting in fond memories of the system would be nice to discuss. The Wii U's Gamepad does remain my all time favourite game controller and I still eagerly await one last game for the system, Sneaky Ninja.

Re: Random: Fans Ask For A Philips CD-i Classic, Philips Says "We Will Try Our Best"

Souldin

Q) Would you like to see a Philips CD-i Classic?

A) It'd be an easy and affordable way to play on an obscure console and some of it's could well be hidden gems; or at least fun to simply experience. As such, I would very much like to see a Phillips CD-i Classic/Mini.

It doesn't necessarily need the Mario/Zelda games on it (though I would like to try out Hotel Mario; looks to be a decently enjoyable arcade styled experience) as there are other CD-i games I've heard good things about such as Apprentice, Plunderball, and Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam.

Re: Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido Has Shockingly Poor Launch In Japan

Souldin

Q) Did you pick up a copy of Sushi Striker?

A) I did, the 3DS version specifically, and was very surprised it was only £30 at my GAME store. It's a first party Nintendo title, so I was fully prepared to pay £40-£50 for it.

It's a fun game, a surprising amount of gameplay elements within it's core gameplay, but they are introduced at a decent pace. I must admit, I'm a little mixed on some of the rules and have been terrible at doing the Puzzle Huts. I do feel it was released at a bit of a poor time though, I had to stop playing to watch and record my thoughts on the E3 presentation.

I see people are bringing up pricing a lot, comparing a game once again with Breath of the Wild, which is something I've never understood. I feel what you're willing to pay for is entirely based on your personal preference or enjoyment. People bring up the amount of content of Breath of the Wild, but as someone who doesn't like the game at all or it's direction, I can have far more fun less content rich games such as Sushi Striker; thus being more value for money for me. I'm more than happy to pay full price for these games, hoping they'll be ones I enjoy based on what I've learnt and researched about them prior to purchasing.

Re: Dead Or Alive 6 Might Come To Switch If Technical Hurdles Are Overcome

Souldin

Q) Would you like to see the Dead or Alive series eventually make its way across to the Nintendo Switch?

A) Not eventually per say, but if it is announced prior to the other system released versions, I'll have to start seriously considering whether I want this game on the Xbox One or Switch. Being able to practise fighting games on the go was my biggest interest in the Switch's handheld capabilities, and I absolutely love the combat of Dead or Alive.

Dead or Alive 6 wasn't something I was expecting at E3, but it's currently the top of my hype list and will be hard to dethrone.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Is The Best-Selling Zelda Game Of All Time, Kind Of

Souldin

Fantastic for the Zelda series to be selling so well; though ironically it's two best selling entries are both games I'm not too fond of myself. With Breath of the Wild, the Zelda series seems to be heading in a direction that's simply not for me, but ah well. It happens sometimes and the game's still appear to be of good enough quality for others to enjoy.

Re: Shuntaro Furukawa Is Nintendo's New President

Souldin

It's a little disappointing that you couldn't fit in Satoru Shibata stepping down from head of Nintendo of Europe in the headline, but understandable; that would have been an awfully lengthy title. I personally find that to the bigger news story to me because it's more unexpected; Kimishima's position was always suggested to be a potentially temporary position.

Shibata stepping down from his role all of a sudden is far more surprising. That, and as someone from the UK, I watched the NOE directs and so have seen far more of Shibata. I quite liked the fellow, he had a more subdued but still entertaining character to him and his dressing up for Ace Attorney and Professor Layton gaming news was always hilarious.

Re: Kirby Star Allies Sets A New Series Sales Record

Souldin

@rjejr This is only for the sales debut in America, which a previous user (Westman98) posted above as:

Triple Deluxe: 138,000
Rainbow Curse: 52,000
Planet Robobot: 160,000
Star Allies: 254,00

In terms of overall sales, if Wikipedia is to be trusted, then Triple Deluxe has sold over 1.78 million by March 2015 whereas Planet Robobot has sold over 1.36 million copies by March 2017. It's too early to know how much Kirby Star Allies has sold worldwide, but it has currently (as of April) sold over 392,413 copies in Japan.

I personally believe Kirby Star Allies is actually better than those two, feeling it builds off of them and Kirby Adventures Wii to give a more refined experience with a more naturally flowing added element (the allies and ability combinations), but to each their own. They are all still absolutely amazing games; as par the course for the Kirby series.

Re: Kirby Star Allies Sets A New Series Sales Record

Souldin

@Mr_Pepperami Oh, those are the questions asked at the end of the article. I like to structure my comments as answers to the articles questions, at least in the articles when they (NintendoLife) ask them, which is most of them.

@Whopper744 Agreed, another world or two featuring a couple extra bosses who aren't tougher re-fights would have been appreciated, but I did adore what I got from this game. It was fun from beginning to end and that's what matters.

That said, maybe they'll add an extra world during one of those Dream Friend waves; that would be awesome!

@SuperWeird I love Kirby games as well, but clearly differ in how I'd rate some entries, as Star Allies is easily among my top 5. Of the entries I've played, I would say I found Kirby Power Paintbrush (Canvas Curse in the US) as the weakest entry.

Planet Robobot is fantastic, though for some reason I've always preferred Triple Deluxe over it. I think it's the extra modes that I prefer, such as playing through as King Dedede.

@StephenYap3 Yeah, I'm also really glad to see it doing well. I was quite worried about it given the neutral, almost negative reception it was getting from folks around here and feeling rather out of place with the community at the time (like you, I absolutely loved Star Allies, which could very well be my 2nd favourite Kirby game; I just need to try the multiplayer with my brother).

So glad it defied that lukewarm response and has gone on to sell well; it seems plenty of people are picking it up and having a blast with yet another charming entry in the series. It is also my favourite Switch game currently as well; finally got me eager to sit down and play on my Switch for a long period of time.

@Pichuka97 It's quite interesting to see the variety of opinions from those of us who like the Kirby series. I really disagree with you on Nightmare in Dreamland; a game I found to be not even as good as what it is a remake of (I played Kirby's Adventure for the first time on 3DS and there was just something about how it controlled that felt oddly better). I also disagree with you on Kirby: Star Allies, which to me feels like the ultimate culmination of what they've learnt over the last three platformer entries and refined into an ultimate experience. Still hasn't beaten Kirby's Fun Pak from the pedestal of my all time favourite game, but an incredible effort.

Still, perfectly understandable reasons you gave for why you like Nightmare in Dreamland so much.

@ricklongo If they continue to make them as amazing as Star Allies, I think I'll be quite happy.

I haven't been a fan of the direction of quite a few of the really successful Nintendo titles recently (Pokémon Sun and Moon, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey), so if my all time favourite game series Kirby can retain it's fantastic gameplay direction, then I'd be quite satisfied.

That said, I think I've received so much Kirby goodness as of late that I'd be fine if HAL focused on a different game/IP for the Switch next year.

@Krisi I wonder that too; I need to when and who! I can deal with waiting, but not knowing is far harder.

Re: Kirby Star Allies Sets A New Series Sales Record

Souldin

Q)What do you think?

A) I think good for it and well deserved. Kirby Star Allies is a terrific game and deserves to be played, so I'm glad to hear it's being picked up by so many people and so quickly as well.

I am surprised to hear that Nightmare in Dreamland had the previous best debut, as I think it to be one of the weaker entries in the series; fun but strangely not as good as the game it happens to be a remake of (Kirby's Adventure 3D on the 3DS strangely felt better than it).

Q) Have you been enjoying Star Allies?

A) Yes; I've been loving Star Allies. I haven't been a huge fan of the Switch so far, perhaps I'm still feeling blue about the treatment of the Wii U, but Kirby Star Allies was the first game on the Switch to have me hooked... that wasn't a demo (Octopath Traveller's demo is my 2nd highlight of the Switch so far). I think the game is fantastic; it controls incredibly, looks gorgeous, has some incredible boss fights and accompanying music, and has the most naturally fitting unique mechanic so far (the star allies).

I'm more a console gamer than a handheld gamer, so it's a delight to play a mainline Kirby game on the big screen again.

Q) What’s your favourite Kirby game?

A) That would be Kirby's Fun Pak for the SNES, which still remains my favourite video game of all time. I will say that Kirby Star Allies might be close it, have yet to try the multiplayer of that game, but Kirby's Fun Pak remains one of my earliest and most phenomenal gaming experiences.

I can't even count the amount of times I've played through Kirby's Fun Pak; be it with my friends or my brothers. Heck, I even played through it earlier this year with my brother for our YouTube channel; still holds up fantastically. That said, I was playing the US version via the SNES Mini, and unless I'm remembering my UK version incorrectly, the bosses seemed to loose health a lot quicker in that version.

Re: PlatinumGames Wants The Wonderful 101 On Switch

Souldin

@SmaggTheSmug That's alright; I haven't commented too much in a while but I used to back in the day.

I will admit, I am someone who does find his Wii U collection fairly precious (I am a lucky Brit with a physical copy of Project Zero after all), though I feel my affections are more so for the system rather than the games library. There are plenty of great games on the Wii U and I think it would be neat if others got to enjoy them on the Switch, but I also feel that a lot of those games benefited plenty from the Wii U's unique features.

Pokkén Tournament or Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze; didn't take advantage of the GamePad, makes sense to port. Even more so for the former as they could continue to foster it's online fighting community on the Switch.

Wonderful 101 whom the gameplay feels designed around the GamePad and enhanced by it; doesn't make sense to me. Then again, I feel the same way about Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and that is getting ported to Switch. I just don't see how they could offer the same or better of an experience on the Switch, so it seems like they'd be downgraded ports to me.

Re: PlatinumGames Wants The Wonderful 101 On Switch

Souldin

@SmaggTheSmug The question put forth in this article was as follows 'We certainly wouldn't be against this incredible game getting a new lease of life on Switch, but what about you?'

As such, I started my comment in reference to the question, thus why my first line was "What about me?" It was merely what I felt to be an efficient way to open up my comment, which at it's core, is an answer to the question put forth to each and every reader.

As for the rest of your comment, well like with my answer, it is only how I personally feel about the possibility of a Switch port. I have no interest in a Switch version, not only because I already own the game, but due to how I feel Wonderful 101 is enhanced by the GamePad and touch controls leading to a Switch version potentially being an inferior version (to specify again, in my opinion). Rather than seeing what I feel I would consider a lesser port, I feel it would be better if folks were able to experience the game in it's better state, if they are interested in trying it out of course.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Souldin

I'm not sure how much of it I'll be able to fit in, but I'll probably continue playing GalGun 2. After getting past the disappointment of how terribly they implemented the motion controls (twist to move left and right... what the heck) and instead using just the control sticks, it has proven pretty fun and charming.

Sadly it is not bringing me back to the glory days of light gun and Wii motion games like I had hoped, but it is at least proving to be enjoyable.

Re: PlatinumGames Wants The Wonderful 101 On Switch

Souldin

What about me? Well, whilst I absolutely adored Wonderful 101 and it was the big game I was looking forward to when I got my Wii U, I wouldn't double-dip and pick up a Switch version.

Wonderful 101 was built for the Wii U; I couldn't imagine trying to play it without the gamepad and touch screen for drawing shapes. I bit into Pokkén Tournament DX, but that was a Wii U game that didn't really utilise the Wii U's uniqueness; Wonderful 101 certainly did to fantastic effect.

I suppose the drawing motion could instead be done via the Switch Joy-Con's motion controls... I'd consider picking up a sequel with that control method, but not a port.

Re: Video: Here's Almost An Hour Of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy Footage

Souldin

Ooh; a nice amount of SNK Heroines footage. I don't have the time now (my laptop needs to rest after all the recording today), but I'll try and give it a watch later.

I enjoyed the latest King of Fighters, but it was on a PS4 and I don't tend to play that system much (not a fan of the controllers really). Fighting games were the big reason I was excited for the portable aspect of the Nintendo Switch, being able to practise and get good at them on the go, so I'm really looking forward to this. The style is also cute and appealing as well.

Re: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Is Getting A Retail Ultimate Edition With All The Extras

Souldin

I already own the game on the Wii U, but getting all the DLC and extra goodies like the artbook and an exclusive outfit is super tempting. Given it has an artbook with it though, my brother is likely to buy it, so I'll just play on his copy instead.

Awesome to see the Shantae games getting physical releases more often; I hope the eventual 5th game gets one right out the gates.

Edit: I just noticed and told my brother about the soundtrack CD... he's definitely getting it now.

This works out great for me, as to save on costs and time, I'm limiting myself to only getting 12 games a year (I have no idea how some folks manage to play so many video games in a year... I struggle at 10 new games a year).

Re: UK Retailer GAME Sees Revenue Rise Thanks To Switch, But Profit Is Down Year-On-Year

Souldin

Having a brother who works at GAME allows me to be a bit more familiar with how and why they do certain things; the expense of their games is an unfortunate situation out of their control. For instance, in general them selling a brand new game will make them less money than a single of their £1 protection on disc care. They pretty much only earn profit on protection schemes and pre-owned games/systems.

Even with their higher prices though, I still visit GAME rather than buy online. In general I don't like buying online; visiting stores is the most amount of social time I get with people face-to-face, and their is certain joy that is missing from online purchases to me. It also helps that my family are on friendly terms with our nearest GAME store; I think we invited most of the staff to our BBQ.

Re: Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido Will Hit Switch And 3DS This June

Souldin

' Raised in a world where sushi is forbidden (shock horror)' - I haven't even played this game yet and I love it. It looks simple but brimming with charm; both in design and in gameplay. I'm certainly eager to try this out!

Now the real question is whether I should get it on the 3DS or the Switch? It all comes down to the control method; no way in heck am I going to be using the touch screen of the Switch unless they introduce a stylus for it.

Re: Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers Will Roll Onto Nintendo 3DS This May

Souldin

Awesome to see this, though still disappointed that none of the games ever arrived on the Wii U. I enjoyed the first Dillon's Rolling Western, but the nature of the game meant levels were exhausting by the end; certainly more of a console experience than a handheld one.

I really need to get around to completing that game at some point... and it's sequel... and of course this one. The series continues to look fantastically fun, so I'm hoping this does well; I hope to see more Dillon in the future.

Edit: Did I hear someone say it is coming to stores for the UK? Oh gosh, I'll definitely be getting this game if it has a physical version!

Re: Kirby Star Allies Will Receive Free Updates Adding Fan-Favourite Playable Characters

Souldin

This is the one part of an amazing Direct that had me out of my chair, screaming with crazed delight. I never expected this to happen but am so glad it is!

Being able to play as the animal buddies, Gooey and even Marx... unbelievably awesome! This is looking set to the best Kirby yet, an I have high hopes that it might be the game to finally compete against Kirby's Fun Pak as my all time favourite video game (surprisingly on a system I've yet to truly care for).

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 8th March

Souldin

I'm disappointed to not see more love towards the Kirby, Dillon and Sushi Striker info, but I am glad to see that Octopath Traveller continues to excite folks.

For me, the Kirby Star Allies Dream Friends was biggest bit of the Direct for me; I enjoyed a lot of it but the Dream Friends was the one part to cause me to scream with delight. I imagine it to be the same sort of reaction that most seem to be having towards the SSB on Switch reveal... something I myself don't care about, but for good for others I guess.

Re: Review: Kirby Star Allies (Switch)

Souldin

'This is not the Super Mario Odyssey or The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild of the Kirby series' - Thank gosh for that; Odyssey and Breath of the Wild are entries in enjoyed series that simply don't appeal to me, so I'm glad Kirby is sticking to what works. It's a little disappointing to see it only get a 7/10, but it's merely a difference of opinion and I can see the vast difference between the mindset of the reviewer (looking for something new) than my own (looking for the best made version of an established formula).

My hopes are for a Kirby game so refined and polished that it can finally topple Kirby's Fun Pak as my all time favourite game (Kirby's Adventure Wii came close, as I'd place it amongst my top 10); which the charming demo and fan-service of beloved past characters being playable through free DLC gives me high hopes. I eagerly await Friday to play the latest entry in my favourite series; alongside my brother to delight in fantastic co-op gameplay (always a plus).

Re: Pokkén Tournament DX Academy to 'Recruit' Players at Evo 2017

Souldin

Q) Meanwhile, are any of you heading to EVO and tempted to try out Pokkén Tournament DX?

A) I live in the UK, so that isn't exactly an easy option. I was planning on watching some EVO matches... but it seems my on and off job has cruel timing... for the 2nd year in a row. Hopefully I'll be able to see bits of the BlazBlue and King of Fighters tournaments, and I'll at least get to enjoy Maximillian's top 5 EVO moments.

On a slightly related note, I do plan on getting Pokkén Tournament DX. A big factor of appeal for me when it comes to the Nintendo Switch is that I can utilise it's portability to play my fighting games more frequently, thus keeping my skills sharp and getting better at them. I really enjoyed Pokkén Tournament, and I'm hoping the Nintendo Switch release will allow me to become a fantastic fighter with Chandelure.

Re: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to Hit the Nintendo Switch on 22nd September

Souldin

Q) Are you planning to pick this up in September?

A) I actually went to GAME the other day to preorder this, but it wasn't available to do so. Now with a confirmed release date, I imagine I'll be able too.

I already own this game on the Xbox One, but wish to repurchase it for the motion controls (gosh, I loved their implementation), an possibly the 'Xenoverse 1 story in Xenoverse 2 engine' bonus that looks to be part of the Japan pre-order bonus. I hope the same applies here as well.

In any case, the fact that I'm willing to purchase this a 2nd time is an indicator of how much I enjoyed this game. A colossal step up in quality from the 1st entry, Xenoverse 2 was a lot of fun and kept me coming back time and time again. It's not the greatest Dragon Ball game but it has an addictive charm to it that makes me play it often.

Re: Beleaguered UK Retailer GAME Blames Lack Of Switch Stock For Profit Warning

Souldin

Q) Could Switch shortages really contribute to the demise of this once-great UK high street brand?

A) It could, but I certainly hope not. It'd make purchasing games a lot more difficult if I can't visit a store for them, an my GAME store is fantastic. Staff are always friendly, an my younger brother happens to work there as well; as such I'm aware of some great banter that goes on there. My family goes in and we can strike up a good conversation with any of them and they tend to be knowledgeable on most games (apparently my games I ask about are usually the obscure ones though)... the donuts my oldest brother brings in for them also helps.

The store used to be pretty poor at displaying Nintendo items, though this has improved somewhat with the recent relocation to a bigger area as well as the release of the Switch. For many reasons, I hope they start to do better an earn more profit. That is quite difficult though, as despite what some accuse as their high prices, they make more profit from their £1 disc care for a game than selling the game sale itself.

Re: Nintendo Confirms a New Kirby Game for Switch in 2018

Souldin

I am absolutely overjoyed! I was not expecting to see anything of a Kirby Switch game this year, nor for it look like an absolute dream game! I'm seeing it though and it does look like an absolute dream Kirby game; elements of so many great Kirby games poured into it.

I think it's an absolute impossibility for Nintendo or anyone else at E3 to showcase anything now that can beat this! It's Kirby Switch!

Re: Square Enix Announces New JRPG Lost Sphear For Nintendo Switch

Souldin

Q) Did you like I Am Setsuna, the studio's previous outing?

A) Yes, quite a bit. It wasn't mind-blowing per say, but it has been very enjoyable, a solid and lovable experience so far. I still need to finish it thinking about it; I should get back to playing it (whilst juggling Voodoo Vince, Phantom Dust, my Pokémon Yellow interactive Miiverse Adventure... oh, and Ever Oasis is coming out soon).

Q) Will you be laying down some cash for this next year?

A) If I've got the money; heck yes! It looks like I'm being drowned in turned based RPG goodness with the Switch and I'm perfectly content with that.

That said... this later thing is rather irritating;

'LOST SPHEAR will be available digitally from the PlayStation®Store, Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch, and STEAM. A physical package is now available for pre-order exclusively from the SQUARE ENIX Online Store for the PlayStation®4 system and Nintendo Switch.'

I'd much rather get the game physically from my nearest game store. I hope that this process will be an easy one, as if I have to make an account or subscription to just get the physical copy, I'll likely get it digital only instead... which often turns me off of getting the game at launch, or at all. Still, I managed to convince myself to get I Am Setsuna despite being digital only... so we will see about Lost Sphere.

Re: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 To Bring the Power to Nintendo Switch in Autumn / Fall

Souldin

Q) Is this on your wishlist for later in the year?

A) Despite already owning the game on the Xbox One... yes! At least, given what I've heard from it so far.

The news that the original game's missions will be available (likely to compensate for the lack of the linking between the first and second games feature) and more so, that motion controls akin to the fantastic Budokai Tenkaichi games will be included in the game are big selling points urging me to double-dip. Truth be told though, the thing that would convinced me to double-dip immediately would have been Miiverse, but that is a fault on Nintendo's end.

It's rather funny; I absolutely hated the first Xenoverse game. It was a chore to complete. Xenoverse 2 was such an improvement over the original game, so many slight tweaks fixing the major problems of the first game, to the point where I keep finding myself coming back to playing Xenoverse 2. It's just got an element to it that keeps me hooked.

Re: Poll: What Wii U Ports Would You Like to Play on Nintendo Switch?

Souldin

That is not to say I'm against ports popping up, I've been having a great time with I Am Setsuna after all, but that is the case of the game being a port of a PS4 game. I have access to a PS4, but don't own said PS4, so I rarely get games for the system.

I wouldn't mind seeing ports of games that released on PS4 and Xbox One, but skipped out on the Wii U. For instance, I am interested in the port of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, and would absolutely love a port of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round on the Nintendo Switch.

When it comes to the Wii U though, and as a big fan of the uniquely exclusive Gamepad, I feel most Wii U to Switch ports would honestly be a downgrade. I enjoy my Switch, but I certainly don't find it as comfortable to play on as the Gamepad, the lack of a stylus means I refuse to use the Switch's touch-screen capability, and the Switch lacks Miiverse so I'd end up playing a version of a Wii U game where I'm unable to communicate or share thoughts with others.

As noted, I am a fan of Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water, but I don't wish to see a port of that game on the Switch. I'd rather see a Project Zero 6, or ports of the prior games. The first three Project Zero games never released on Nintendo systems, and Project Zero 4 was Japanese exclusive (with the Joy-cons, replicating the Wii motion controls is possible, which is fantastic). These are the sorts of ports I'd be interested in, rather than Wii U games coming to the Switch.

Re: Poll: What Wii U Ports Would You Like to Play on Nintendo Switch?

Souldin

As I already own a Wii U, any games I wanted on the Wii U, I have naturally purchased for my Wii U. As such, there is little reason for me to want to see these games ported... because I already own and play them on my Wii U.

As much as I love Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water for instance, I already own the game, and I feel some of the charm would be lost without the Wii U set-up for it.

Honestly, the only Wii U game I would like to see a port of for the Nintendo Switch would be Pokkén Tournament. This would allow me to practise my skills on the go, and has the potential of receiving the DLC characters that the arcade version has, but that for some reason has skipped the Wii U version.

@smashboy2000 I'm a big fan of Wonderful 101 and Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (my favourite physical Wii U game), but I don't feel I'd like them quite as much without the Wii U's Gamepad. Perhaps it helps that the Gamepad is my absolute favourite controller of all time, but being able to use the Gamepad in those games not only made things easier, but I also feel made them far more enjoyable.

Re: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Confirmed For May 23rd Release On Wii U

Souldin

Q) Had you given up hope of seeing this on your Wii U?

A) Hearing other developers cancel Wii U versions (sometimes in favour of Switch versions admittedly) even prior to the Switch's announcement, did cause me to have doubts, but I always clung onto a small sense of hope that this game would be the exception. Thank golly gosh it is!

This is a definite must-have for me, what with it being both physical and only £15. Once I pick this up, I'll have a quick search for it's sequel, a game I considered picking up during the Wii U's launch but did not due to having never played the first entry. With this Wii U release, I shall be rectifying that!

Re: Caveman Warriors is Stretching for Nintendo Switch and Wii U on Kickstarter

Souldin

Q) What do you think of Caveman Warriors?

A) It looks great; even prior to funding it looks like a decent amount of work has already been done on it. That's usually a good sign.

Q) Is this the sort of project you'd consider backing on Kickstarter?

A) I am a fan of co-op games, I like the art style, and I do own an Xbox One to be able to play this on in case it doesn't reach a Nintendo system stretch goal, so yeah, this does look like a game I'd back. I'll probably do so either tonight or tomorrow night. Here's to hoping Caveman Warriors succeeds with it's funding!

Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Makes UK Debut in Second, Three Top 10 Switch Titles in Total

Souldin

@Peach64 Whilst unlikely to be entirely representative of the exact market for it, I do happen to one of those people who purchased a Nintendo Switch but did not purchase The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I'm not a fan of open world games, and the direction of this latest Zelda game has little to appeal to me.

I stuck with getting Super Bomberman R, along with downloading I Am Setsuna. I'm waiting to play the former alongside my brother, but I've had a blast with the latter so far.

Re: Review: Super Bomberman R (Switch)

Souldin

'When most people pick up their Switch, they'll likely be grabbing a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild along with it.'

An I happen to be one of the few exceptions, as this was my sole physical purchase when I got my Switch. I'm holding off on playing it until my brother is available to do so in co-op with me, but I am eagerly awaiting that very moment. It's been quite hard to resist, but this weekend should finally be the time.

I'm glad to see this game reviewing well, and that whilst it doesn't add a whole lot new to the series, it does bring back a beloved series in a solid and enjoyable manner.

Re: Splatoon 2 Global Testfire Demo Details Confirmed for Europe

Souldin

Q) Are you planning to jump into the Global Testfire Demo for Splatoon 2?

A) I hope to jump into at least one of them, which even in the case of getting the job I'm currently applying for, should be likely.

With this comment, I'll be able to quickly get back to this article to remind myself of what the times are.

Re: Splatoon 2 Global Testfire To Take Place During Nintendo Switch Launch Month

Souldin

Super glad I'll be getting a Nintendo Switch at launch. After a decent amount of playtime with Super Bomberman R, and maybe starting a bit of I Am Setsuna, I'll be able to take a brief break with Splatoon 2 Global Testfire.

It also will help potentially convince me to get the game straight away, as I'm a little on the fence given online is going to be a paid service, and I'll be at a disadvantage in lacking voice chat compared to many others. I'm looking forward to it; show me what you've got Splatoon 2.

Thinking about it... this will also give me time to test out recording with the Nintendo Switch. I might be able to record and upload my first playtime of Splatoon 2 as well. That would be pretty cool!

Re: Pre-Order Puyo Puyo Tetris, Get Some Fancy Keychains

Souldin

Q) Is Puyo Puyo Tetris on your radar at the moment, or has this news been enough to push you over the edge and place a pre-order?

A) Puyo Puyo Tetris is on my radar, but it has yet to become available to pre-order at GAME, and I've heard nothing about any keychain being available with the game in the game. Hopefully when it does become available to pre-order, the keychain offer will also be there.

Re: I Am Setsuna Confirmed as Launch Day Release on Nintendo Switch

Souldin

Q) Is this one on your launch day wishlist?

A) Provided I can get a large GB SD card that works for the Switch in time for launch; yes. I was intrigued by this game when it was shown off for PS4, but it has become a definite must have now that I can get it on the Switch.

I'm disappointed that it's digital only, given I'm a big fan of physical copies, but at least I can expand the Switch's memory easier than the Wii U's. It will be a purchased title for me alongside Super Bomberman R, though priority will have to go the returning star that shot straight to the top of my 2017 anticipated games list.

Re: Guide: The Best Nintendo Switch Micro SD Cards

Souldin

Trying to find a compatable external hard drive for my Wii U has been an absolute pain (I even used a recommended list and it didn't work), but I've had better luck when it comes to SD cards. I don't plan on downloading many games, given I love physical copies, but getting a SanDisk Ultra 200GB Micro SD from Argos will save me the trouble of ever having to get a secondary SD card down the road.

Re: Feature: 10 Intriguing Third-Party Nintendo Switch Games for Your Wishlist

Souldin

Of the 3rd party games presented here, Super Bomberman R is an absolute definite. I Am Setsuna is almost an absolute definite, though the digital only thing is a bit disappointing. Looks like I'll be utilising that SD card guide you've posted recently, I'll want to avoid having more than 1 SD card like I do with the 3DS (so annoying swapping them back and forth).

Sonic Mania, Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, and Monster Boy are maybe games, but they certainly look appealing. I'll decide based on what I see later down the road, and depending on what games I prioritise. I probably won't have time for those three this year, even if I do get them.

After all, there are other 3rd party games for the Switch that I'm more interested in such as Puyo Puyo Tetris. Hopefully this game gets a lot of love, and it'll convince Nintendo and Intelligent Systems to give Panel De Pon a chance. Project Octopath Traveller, Dragon Quest Heroes 1+2, and Dragon Quest XI also have my interest when it comes to 3rd party Switch games.

Re: Poll: A Week On, How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?

Souldin

I'm still quite excited for the Nintendo Switch, though my disappointment with the lack of Miiverse is proving to be a negative that lingers within my mind. Still, the other features the Switch had excite me, and there are plenty of games announced for the system that have my interest.

In regards to launch windows, I tend to see that as either around the first 3 to 6 months after a system launches, as I don't believe their is a official time specification for what defines a launch window. That is how I see it though, and as such, I have Super Bomberman R, ARMS, and Puyo Puyo Tetris to look forward. Depending on the time frame, I also have Splatoon 2 and I Am Setsuna to look forward to in the launch window, if not, shortly after the launch window.

In terms as 2017 as a whole, there are certainly plenty of Switch games that I want, regardless of their specific release date.

Re: Super Bomberman R's Retail Price Has Finally Been Confirmed

Souldin

Q) What do you think?

A) I think I shall be purchasing this game alongside my Switch, regardless of price. Bomberman being back is monumentous; if people can go nuts over Mega Man merely popping up in Smash, I can go nuts over this series being both alive and arriving as a launch title for the latest Nintendo system.

Price does not matter; this was easily my top game shown off at the Switch presentation!

Q) Should we be so quick to judge a game just on its looks, and the fact that it's based on a well-worn template?

A) No, there could be plenty more to the game that has yet to be shown. While it is releasing soon, it has still only recently be revealed, there may be more to learn. At the same time, yes, but I don't feel it matters too much. If this game is simply Bomberman with a few bells and whistles... I don't mind, it's a new Bomberman with 8 players, online, a co-op story mode, and available on a new handheld/console hybrid device. That alone is awesome; if it has more, then that will simply be adding to the joy that Bomberman delivers.

Q) Or should we all be more open-minded about what innovations and new content this update will bring?

A) Yes, though like I said before, it's not like the title needs to innovate by a large degree given the series absence. So long as it's an enjoyable experience that motivates you alone, or with friends, to play for long lengths of time, then that alone is nice enough. Of course, I'm hoping for plenty of new content and innovative ideas to an excellent formula, but I feel the return of said formula and the device it's on is a good enough start.

Re: It's Nintendo Switch Petition Time, With Miiverse on the Agenda

Souldin

I would support the petition if I believed these petitions to ever be effective, but that rarely seems the case.

The removal of Miiverse from the Switch saddens me; it is the only social media I use (I'm not sure I can count Nintendo Life or YouTube under the umbrella of social media), and without it, I'll probably end up losing contact with quite a few friends I've made through it. I feel it is a great service with plenty of creative potential; I've been doing a Pokémon Yellow playthrough where other Miiverse user's comments influence what I do throughout it for instance.

Given the removal of Miiverse, and that voice chat will be done via a mobile (which I also do not have nor plan to), it has me doubting if I'll ever use Nintendo's online service. Well... at least that in turn will save me a bit of money, as well as purchases of games where the online is the main meat of it.

Re: Nintendo Introduces ARMS, a New Boxing IP

Souldin

Q) What do you think?

A) I think this game looks like a combination of Punch-Out, Wii Sports, and Pokkén Tournament.

Q) Does this look interesting to you?

A) Based off how I described it... yes! This is likely the 2nd most interest grabbing game amongst the Switch line-up for me. It looks wonderful; the colours are amazing and I love the character designs. Fighting looks simple, but fast paced and a certainly for chaotic laughs against others.

Q) Will you be picking this up?

A) Most definitely; a day one purchase for me.

Re: Square Enix Confirms Nintendo Switch Release For I Am Setsuna

Souldin

Q) Will you be buying this title, or have you already sampled it on PS4 or Steam?

A) I don't play games on PC/Steam, and I'm often put off from purchasing PS4 games due to my dislike of the controller. I held off on getting I Am Setsuna, a part of me holding onto the hope that it would release on the Switch, and thank gosh it is.

Console-based Turn Based Role Playing Gamess when your primary gaming system are those from Nintendo don't come by often enough, so I will delight in getting I Am Setsuna for Switch. I hear it's a Japanese launch title for the Switch, and I'm hoping that will also be the case in the UK.

Re: Minecraft, Sonic, Street Fighter And Bomberman Are All Coming To Switch

Souldin

Q) What are your thoughts on tonight's third party lineup?

A) Bomberman is back! He's back!

So, aside from the lack of information regarding when these games are coming out, I find myself liking the announced 3rd party game for the Switch.

Super Bomberman R has my attention the most, but I'm also looking forward to Puyo Puyo Tetris and I Am Setsuna. Sonic Mania and the Dragon Quest games shown are maybes, but strong maybes at that, and I'm kind of tempted to double-dip with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (already own it on Xbox One). I guess that will depend of how Miiverse is transferred and incorporated onto the Nintendo Switch.

So yeah, I'd love to know when these games are coming out and which one's I'll be able to pick up at launch.

Re: Nintendo Switch Will Cost £279.99 In The UK

Souldin

It's a little cheaper than I was expecting, although no mention of a pack-in game yet. That doesn't matter too much for me, as I imagine if their is a pack-in game will probably not be one that interests me, such as Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or 1-2-Switch.

Going off of the Japanese launch line-up (don't know UK's yet), I think I'll set aside a good £600 just to be safe. There are a lot of games I'm interested in releasing on Switch, I'm just not sure when exactly most of them will be coming out.

Re: Feature: Five Franchises That Deserve A Fresh Chance on the Nintendo NX

Souldin

@electrolite77 @Royalblues Okay, turns out I wasn't the only one to mention Panel De Pon; glad to see both of your comments.

Despite being quite terrible at puzzle games, I'm a big fan of Panel De Pon and the Puzzle League series. I think a good majority of my early comments on Miiverse were about how Lip should be playable in Super Smash Bros.

Re: Feature: Five Franchises That Deserve A Fresh Chance on the Nintendo NX

Souldin

Now I'd personally opt for some more obscure franshises, Nintendo IPs that have either gone ages without new entries or are less prominent but this line 'albeit we opted for some better-known and (arguably) feasible brands' kind of pointed out why you went with those 5 games in particular. I'll just be here hoping in view for a new Panel De Pon and Balloon Fight game for NX. Moving onto the question then...

Q) In any case, which of these five in our list would you most like to see in the next few years on NX?

A) If I was to vote on a personal level, it'd probably be either Wario Ware or Star Fox. I haven't played many entries in all 5 IPs listed here, but from what little I've played of each of them, these two are probably the ones I enjoy the most.

That said, both the Wario and Star Fox brands have made an appearance in this generation of the 3DS and Wii U, so I don't feel they are a priority for a new game. Heck, Star Fox even got a spin-off this generation as well. This likewise shapes my thoughts on both Metroid and Kid Icarus, they have at least had some form of game this generation.

F-Zero on the otherhand has had no game, nor even a spin-off, in both this generation of Nintendo systems and the previous generation. As such, I logically find F-Zero to be the most deserving IP to get new entry on NX. Of course, I hope each of these IPs get a new entry on NX; I hope as many of Nintendo's IPs as possible get a new entry on NX. In terms of priority though, whilst it is not my personal choice, I feel my vote should go towards the more deserving F-Zero series.
