Re: Kemco Discounts Six RPGs Across Switch, Wii U And 3DS For A Limited Time

I've got Fernz Gate and I've put a decent amount of time into it. Not sure if I'm near the end yet. What I like about it is the automatic mode. You just press a button and the battles are done for you. All you have to think about is having the best equipment. After that you're just moving the characters to the next objective to advance the story. Makes it feel a bit more like some kind of VN or slightly interactive story book.

Re: Hands On: Is Genshin Impact The Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Clone Fans Thought It Was?

SigourneyBeaver

I'm playing on PC and I think the game is awesome. The game itself is not like BOTW, which is a pretty solitary experience. It just takes place in a world that resembles it and it copies things like the climbing, gliding and cooking. The combat is miles better and so far the weapons don't seem to break either, which is another on my BOTW-gripes. Cooking is much less tedious and having a party and switching between them mid-battle is fantastic.

Nintendo would do well to pay attention to this game.

Re: Talking Point: Does Nintendo Have A Refund Problem?

SigourneyBeaver

I had my first Steam refund recently because I bought a game that I forgot I already had on Switch. Refund was issued in a couple of hours.

I would like some kind of refund system on Switch though. Neverlast is a game that runs so poorly it really detracts from the game, which is a reasonable time killer for the price I paid with 90% discount - if it ran smoothly.

But that's the only game I would refund. Usually, I buy the deep discounts that I think I will like and usually I do. Technical reasons are the only way I would refund.

Re: Sega Wants To Take "Good Care" Of 2D And 3D Sonic In The Future

SigourneyBeaver

My favourite 3D Sonic games have been Sonic R and Sonic and the Secret Rings. Haven't played enough of the others to form an opinion. Didn't like the portable 2D versions. Screen seemed too small for the speed of the action.

The 2D look is great but I think Sonic 4 was a good way of providing 3D graphics and 2D gameplay. The quality of them was poor though. I remember reading that the problem with making 3D Sonic games is the speed, which requires the levels to be huge. I reckon the Sonic 4 style is a good way to merge the two without having huge levels. Gotta sort the jumping out in Sonic 4 though. Totally ruined it.

Re: What Comes After Switch? Nintendo Discusses Plans For Future Game Consoles

SigourneyBeaver

When I got the Switch I was hugely impressed by Breath of the WIld. Sure, it was a Wii U game, but it still featured vast landscapes and changeable weather, some physics and stuff. It felt quite advanced for a console less than an inch thick.

Then it gets games like Doom, Skyrim, Wolfenstein, Dark Souls and The Witcher 3. This took me completely by surprise. I thought it may get more third party support than Wii U but I didn't expect it to get REAL third party support.

To me it feels like developers are just getting started with the AAA ports and we will get another load of them in the next couple of years.

Switch doesn't need to be replaced yet. But when it is replaced they don't need to do much to it. All I can think of is - if they make a home version and a lite version again, make the home version bigger. I think the screen could stand to be at least an inch bigger on the diagonal, which would make the controllers a bit bigger.

Re: Here's Your First Look At Harvest Moon: One World, Launching On Switch This Fall

SigourneyBeaver

I really didn't mind Light of Hope. I found it much better than Skytree Village. I haven't played Mad Dash yet. Not sure if it's a fully fledged farming game or just a puzzle game.

I wouldn't deny myself the opportunity to play a game from a genre I like just because of the situation Harvest Moon found itself in. Harvest Moon will only get so far on the name, so it's in Natsume's interests to make a proper game. If their games have traditional farming-sim features, good story and no bugs, why wouldn't want I play it?

Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Release A Digital-Only Switch?

SigourneyBeaver

It is a bit strange that digital-only for PC and mobile isn't a problem and people have made the switch to digital for music and movies, but the thought of console games not being physical is a huge topic.

Nevertheless, I voted no, because I don't think the Switch should have a digital-only model.

Re: Random: Could This Be The Most Pointless Switch Accessory Yet?

SigourneyBeaver

@ChrisUnseen I was going to say the same thing. I’m sure my PSP case is made by Logitech but it’s the same principal. They provided a template and you cut it to fit.

It looks like the same could be done with this device even if it’s not what it’s intended for. And it saves wasting a decal be peeling it off and wrinkling it.

Not as useless as it might seem.

Re: Alienware's Impressive Switch-Like Concept UFO Wins Best-In-Show Award

This kind of PC-based device would be great with an Nvidia graphics card inside the handheld. GeForce Experience could be used to optimise the games when used as a handheld, then when connected with an eGPU dock with a more powerful Nvidia GPU, the optimisation would be turned off (or reduced) accordingly.

However, that sounds expensive for them to make and this thing will be expensive enough with Intel graphics alone.

Re: UK Retailer GAME To Close 40 Stores In "Rationalisation Programme"

SigourneyBeaver

I made one purchase in GAME last year. I went in for a browse because I really don't go in very often and they happened to have PS4 controllers for £35 which I thought was quite a good price for an offline store, and I wanted one for my Apple TV because I knew support for it was coming.

Then more recently I realised I forgot to buy Gears 5 for my collection. Amazon was ~£35 for standard and ~£50 for ultimate so I thought I would check the GAME website while the sales are on. £50 for the standard edition as a special offer and £35 for pre-owned.

I bought the standard edition from Amazon.
