Re: Yuji Naka Parted Ways With Square Enix Following Balan Wonderworld's Release

I bought Balan Wonderworld. My biggest problem with it is that I have no idea what's going on. Even after watching the opening cinematic I have no clue what the point is. It seems to be a case of finding the statues in each level using the costumes to do so.

The game itself is a little rough but nothing absolutely terrible to me. It's just a quite basic kid's game, really.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think The "Switch Pro" Will Actually Be Called?

I depends if there's any performance update. If it's just the same Switch with a bigger screen and ethernet in the dock then I'd say it will get a minor revision in name, like Switch Plus.

If it's more powerful I'll go with New Switch, to avoid any confusion over what it is in somparison to the old one. As for Switch Pro, it's what the rumours have been calling it, so I don't think they'll use it really.

Re: Rumour: Evidence Of A "New" Nintendo Switch Dock Supposedly Datamined In System Update 12.0.0

Something isn't right with this rumour. My TV is an ancient Panasonic plasma. It's 1024x768 but it accepts a 1080p signal (a real selling point in 2008). I wouldn't benefit from 4K upscaling. So people without a 4K TV won't buy it. Then people who have a 4K TV which happens to have great upscaling may not notice a difference. So they will be pretty annoyed. So the only ones to benefit are people with 4K TVs that don't upscale well. Nintendo wants everyone's money, not some people's money.

What would make more sense is another feature on top of 4K upscaling. I remember those HDMI cables called mCable which add antialiasing. If a new dock had something similar to that but better because it's a dock which has more room for more powerful hardware, more people would benefit. Maybe Nintendo has worked on this technology of their own, maybe they would license it from mCable. Maybe they could work together on something just for the Switch???

Even so, I would say a lot of people don't care about antialiasing either, so that is still not what it is

Re: Talking Point: Are There Too Many Harvest Moon-Likes On The Market?

After reading the reviews for the recent SoS and HM games (and playing HM) it seems like quality is dropping there at least, which is a shame because the first Story of Seasons on 3DS is the pinnacle of farming games for me.

I've got Stardew Valley and my playtime is 5 hours, last played Feb 19 2020. So, it didn't hook me for some reason. I will start it again to see if it clicks.

The most recent game I sunk a decent amount of time into was Harvest Moon Light of Hope. I didn't mind that one at all.

I'm only a few hours into it but 3 is probably about right. It's just really lazily done. The icon for Doc is clearly from the previous game, but the in-game character looks completely different. And the graphics lack polish. Everything is really stark and there's no effort made to make the world look convincing. Then there's the GUI. The cursor is on an absolute hair trigger.

But I like farming games and I've got all the Harvest Moon games since the split despite preferring Story of Seasons.

Light of Hope is better than this.

Nothing for me this week. I impulse-bought Mario 3D Land + Bowser's Fury this week, forgetting about Harvest moon. Had I realised Harvest moon was out tomorrow I would have got that instead. I blame the pre-order for Story of Seasons getting me confused and thinking I was sorted for farming games this month.
