I don't get much time to follow Nintendo as I did, so my hopes might be wildly optimistic.
So, I'll get what I don't want out of the way to start with - Donkey Kong. Great games, of course. But you can have too much of a good thing and I'm seriously fatigued with DK now.
Less of the odd spin-off games like Mario Sports Mix/Superstars
And now for what I want:
It's time for a peek at Metroid, even if it's not a 2018 game. Last year we got a name, this year we need at least a target render of something.
Animal Crossing needs a new game, even if I'm not a huge fan. It's the sort of game I buy digitally, so I don't have to put the cart/disc in to just have 5 minutes on when I want to play.
Nintendo never ceases to amaze me. They were nowhere with the Wii U, so you could forgive them for playing it safe this time. But they came out swiging with the Switch. Then they announce this, which is so bold and outrageously bizarre. A couple of weeks ago I was expecting Nintendo to consolidate the Switch's position by announcing more AAA games and this has completely turned things on its head. I love it!
Game card cover is a good idea. I have a nasty habit of resting my fingers on the game card of my N3DSXL and sometimes it pops out, losing my progress.
Mine is mainly used with the TV but I don't leave it docked all the time, so that when time is short and I want to get started with a game ASAP I can just take it out of its case and be playing in 1 minute.
I'm starting to get quite a bad feeling about this. It's a complicated console compared to PS4 and Xbox One. This won't fly off the shelves like the Wii did.
While the hardware looks great, the price of the accessories and games is high to very high. And the day 1 games look pretty poor apart from Zelda and 1, 2 Switch really should be bundled. It seems a very similar situation to Wii U - a high price and uninspiring day one games.
I'd rather have any stable framerate of 30 or above. For example, there's nothing worse than in a racing game having a stable performance for most of a track but if you turn a corner and the framerate drops because of what comes on the screen at that moment it's very annoying.
I bought the Mario Kart DLC which I thought wa sa great deal and I got the home themes. But the rest eithe rdoesn't interest me or I already own. So it's good but could be better.
I have one concern though, and that's how the controllers attach. If it's supposed to be a proper home console experience when it's in the base connected to the TV, the controller should be like Wii U Pro Controller. So how are they going to attach to either end of a portable?
What if the two halves of the controller clip together after you take them off the portable? That would give you a full controller for at home and controls for the portable.
That they made a point of saying it's made by the Colours and Generations team and that classic Sonic is in it, I would guess it will be like those games. Which isn't a bad thing. But the setting worries me. I'm seeing houses and bridges and real world stuff that shouldn't be in a Sonic game. It should be abstract, fantasy stuff.
It really wouldn't surprise me if NX is a partnership with Sony. Maybe it's the reason why neither NX or Neo was seen at E3. The world just isn't ready for it yet.
He's either acting responsibly by taking the Wii U launch into consideration and only launching NX when enough games are ready, or he's confident enough in the NX that when the details are revealed it will capture the imagination of customers and they will buy it whenever it's released. I would go with the former.
Of the current gen consoles my Wii U library is the biggest and has the most exclusives. Even without much 3rd party it's easily the system with the best games.
@Cypronia Thank you!! And thank goodness invert Y is coming!! I bought the game yesterday and was disappointed that it wasn't there. I can get by for now but it's not comfortable playing without it.
I still think Nintendo feels a bit of a crash coming, and that being different is the best way to survive it. Sony and MS are too similar and if things go pear-shaped they're both gone.
Nintendo systems hardly ever have proper realistic racing games and I seriously doubt this will be released. And if it does, what the hell are they going to do with the digital triggers?
Why oh why didn't Nintendo use analogue triggers? They did it with the Gamecube controller and the classic controller.
From that list only I chose Eternal Darkness because the other games wouldn't benefit as much from the graphical upgrade. The others would still be great games if they had N64 graphics, but Eternal Darkness would benefit greatly from improved lighting and more realistic models.

Ditto Tomodachi life.
Mario Maker for Switch would be nice.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch To Start At £199.99 In United Kingdom, $329.99 In Canada
£199.99 is a reasonable price. Console, a couple of games and maybe a joycon grip for £300. Nice.

What is the Wii Photo app? Does he really mean something that was on the original Wii or have I missed something?

The only thing we know is that it's not going to be a hybrid of a handheld and home console. So therefore it could be either.

Re: Project CARS Studio Boss Admits to Problems With Wii U Version, Hoping For Nintendo Hardware Announcement at E3
So why not just "cut the looks back" or do "a hell of a lot of work?"
After seeing how this game performs on PS4 and Xbox One I can tell they didn't really do "a hell of a lot of work" on those versions either.
