Re: EA Is Diving Headfirst Into Generative AI With New Partnership

Samalik

When I said that this is putting artist out of a job, I meant it. GenAI is trained to mash actual artists work into a mess of an image, without their consent and without their permission, which, surprise, the corporate world weaponizes against the very people who made said art. It just becomes a viscous cycle of people getting put out of a job while the machine can't survive without stealing their work because GenAI inbreeding causes more damage to the system long term.

This isn't the same as horses getting replaced by cars, because the car didn't chop off the horse's legs to call it its own to prove it's worth. Woodworkers still exist in the more artistic and decor world, and mechanics are still making things too. Machines are still an extension of that, but not a hostile replacement of them.

To answer your part of "being human"...
Illustrative arts is suppose to be a snapshot into a person's mind and soul, how did they feel, what were they thinking, what memories slipped into the work itself by mistake, how do they see the world even in the mundane ways. That's part of the human side of making art and why it starts to connect on a deeper level. And that's what AI doesn't understand nor can it properly replicate it. But cooperation's still want to push it anyways because it's cheaper to make a "product" than actually try to sit down and make something, even if the end result is worse. If firing everyone would save them money, they will do it without a care for the end result. (and we already see that a lot in gaming as is)

Re: Tales Of Xillia 2 Remastered On The Way, With More To Come

@Wexter Look man, if the games in question are part of a unique back to back duology, I say it's fair to try and bundle them together when they become retro. Hell, Namco already did this with Klonoa. Not everyone is made of money. Additionally, many people here also prefer physical so they actually own their games, which doesn't go on sale in the same way as digital. And this is competing with other retro RPGs that are bundled too on Switch like the final fantasy bundles.

So yeah, acting like wanting a better, cohesive deal being "complain for the sake of complaining" is missing the point.

Re: Feature: Who Is Devon Pritchard? - Meet The Next NOA President Stepping Into Bowser's Boots

@MyMemory Yeah, the older heads are more traumatized by what happened to hollywood and don't want the same shielded incompetency to go to other hobbies they enjoy

Anybody who's been keeping up with the failures behind disney alone knows there's a lot of sexist spite coming from the women who lead there alone

As for Ms. Pritchard, I'm gonna be on wait and see. Satoru Shibata is also gonna be a CEO, so this might be a legit change of hands based on competency

Re: Nintendo Is "Acting To Protect The Industry" With Switch 2 Game Key Cards, Says Ex-Capcom Composer

Samalik

As the brits of Nintendolife would probably put it

OH BUGGER OFF!!!

"Game Key Cards are also a measure "against illegal copying", as the data cannot be extracted from the cartridge and distributed online"
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna dump all of my switch games I downloaded online and have hackers do their thing.
lol

"Do you think a company that’s already made that much profit would do this just to make even more money"
yes. Absolutely yes. That's corporatism for ya.

Re: Nintendo Wins $2 Million Lawsuit Against 'MiG Switch' Distributor

Samalik

@Markatron84 I'm a bit more of a stickler on that front tho.
If a company does sell me something, but they sell it to me in a broken, incomplete mess that may have also been censored, I'm pirating with all of the fixes and content restored.
I don't even care if it's a modern release. you don't treat your loyalists like that.
Copyright and lost source code are the only areas I may be forgiving in

Re: Nintendo To Officially Launch eShop In Taiwan

Well, this might be a way of bypassing china. I hear that even though the two lands are hostile towards each other, the citizens and products are still allowed to pass through without checks.

And considering that Hong Kong is 15 years away from being absorbed into china, this is probably a smart move
