Re: Video: Let's Compare Xenoblade Chronicles X On Wii U And Switch

@SillyG "With that said, I think a breast slider is tacky and unnecessary, except perhaps for a player avatar, but I get that its omission would be a source of annoyance for purists"
I mean, it was for the player avatar. They literally took away a customization option so you couldn't even make the bust size bigger or smaller. I was even wanting to make a character like Daidouji from Senran Kagura at the time because she was genuinely badass but I had to settle with a mediocre looking arab guy...

Though nowadays, I'd probably make my female avatar a cutting board tomboy because why not!

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Characters From "SEGA Universes"

Glad there is SOME back to basics aspect with the EX Gear. Might have to do tricks to gain air and then spend air strategically to get the upper hand.

Though, I wonder if the overspending risk from the first game is still there. Forces you to think wisely about boosting. Might need to keep the air pitstops in the game to punish overboosting.

Re: Sony Does What Nintendon't By Removing A Bunch Of 'eSlop' Titles

@-wc- Golden rule of eslop: If it has "hentai", "waifu" or other curiously chosen words in the title, it's not real hentai. Just baity bullcrap.

Actual eroge blend in with a lot of the JRPGs and Visual Novels that get released because they actually seek to have a loyal, long-lasting audience, not rip the customer off.

@JohnnyMind It's because doing so isn't going to make it easy to reverse. When they hide something, they hide it. So how do you know it is something to "unhide" if you never know it exists?
It does start to overstep what a storefront is logistically trying to do: sell you stuff.

Again, I'd rather just have a tidy storefront that lets all creativity shine on the same stage.
Inversely, a better system would be to allow following highlight developers. But not hiding the meaningful content. This way if you are feeling adventurous, you can take a look at the "what's new" page and see everything.

Re: Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Launches May 2025 On Nintendo Switch

@MikeP People are still laughing about it today, many decades later, even outside the culture. Hell, the gacha game in question you probably saw was Korean. I say that's pretty timeless, much to the point that they make actual character dynamics out of it or even outright role reversals. (Bless the mesugaki trope! 😭) Hell, there's already dynamics out of it with how the old men all have bloody water faucets for nostrils and the dancer getting all shy and flustered. It's not much because 90s arcade game, but it's at least trying to be something a bit more and is trying to be cute about it (in a Belgian comic kinda way). It just helps to know when to not take something seriously, because it certainly ain't a commentary. Most average people would already understand that and move on.

Re: Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Launches May 2025 On Nintendo Switch

@MikeP Dated? yeah right. Was just in a gacha subreddit and there was a lot more implications shown in those gag comics than that ending. The comic in question: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fmirais-revolutionary-jelly-disaster-translated-himiya-jouzu-v0-pub1m6erdihe1.png%3Fwidth%3D1080%26crop%3Dsmart%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D5ad11f3536d4eb50bd2845b5fe1b70260ba7e09d

The "modern audience" doesn't exist. Sexual humor is also a timeless concept. It's better for entertainment media, old or new, to be enjoyed for what they are instead of becoming more concerned about moral-brigading problem tourists. Because let's be perfectly honest, if you played the game and chose the obvious "sexy arab dancer" and tried getting to that ending, chances are you already like the game anyways to get to that point and you don't really care much for the ending to begin with.

The only thing I can say about the ending itself, is that it feels kinda flat. Not much to care about. But you could probably say that about all old fighting game endings

Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection Trailer Introduces Online Play And Other New Features

@Bobb I wouldn't bother worrying. Assuming it's a 1:1 conversion, all of the cards featured in these games already have a real world translation/localization. So it's just a linguistic portjob.

My real concern is content authenticity, since back in the day, the guys who wee running the card game thought it would be a smart idea to market a game aimed at teens to 6 year olds... Ya know where I'm going with this.

Re: EA's Share Price Plummets After Reports Of Disappointing Financial Performance

Samalik

@IronMan30 There's actually belief of questionable behavior going on behind the scenes with the whole access journalism propping up the reviews and being dishonest about the game's quality.
You then have the likes of SkillUp being brutally honest in his review and pulling no punches when needed, speaking things that became the main sentiments behind a lot of what people felt when they played it.

I can't speak about Dragon Age as a series though and don't care too much outside of maybe trying Inquisition. But Valgard's gameplay alone for an RPG entry seemed rather dull just by looking at it.
