@Hydra_Spectre That's where we run into a problem. Prime was called canon in terms of the real world canon. You can see that in the original interview that mentioned it. But fans kept taking that too seriously.
It doesn't help that the series is Japanese to begin with, so all of the western original stuff, Mobius included, are not close to canon.
And the less said about Sonic's characterization, the better.
@Chlocean well I'm not trying to pick on you either. It's just not a very ideal image in a lot of people's heads, as I already said. Hell, my original comment was closer to how I approach it rather than trying to make fun of you.
@Jhena with DLSS, more often it is. I'm speaking from experience. Try it.
AI corrects things before you see it. That is even normal on the computer you're typing this on right now. The native resolution on the Switch 2 is gonna look crusty as hell without it. Those two videos already go over how the tech works. take a look
Why is it that when I ask if the censorship was removed, its flagged as unconstructive? that is the one thing the review didn't cover. So why is it that I'm not allowed an answer?
@Jhena Imagined? No. It's not imagined like Gen AI. It's using the game itself as reference, and is correcting bad frames before they are even shown on screen, making it so that the game always runs smooth. It is very reliant on Nvidia's hardware, which in itself is also the Switch's hardware.
Here's some explanations:
And this is just DLSS 1. We are currently on DLSS 4
@Jhena But it does. Look up digital foundry tests. It's not a fake upscaler. This is Nvidia level tech.
If you are using "true motion", then no wonder it looks like crap. That's not tech built into the game's code. DLSS is what makes action games more playable at high levels. That's how good it is. And knowing what we know on the Switch 2's hardware, it's gonna be mandatory for that reason, as the console is also gonna use Nvidia's chipsets
@Jhena Again, you will not notice it. Play Doom Eternal on PC or another game with DLSS built in on PC and tell me how much you notice compared to some chepo aftermarket plugNplay "enhancer"
It only makes the games run better on weaker hardware. Chances are you already went through DLSS-styles upscales on switch as is but didn't notice. That's how you know it works
@IceClimbersMain LoveLive school idol festival 2, correct?
Yeah, that was greedy as f@$k. Normally an EoS game shuts off the payment flow and maybe announces preservation plans. This one just took the money and ran.
here's to hoping the Switch 2 has built in performance boost. I do wanna play a game like this. Well, I wanna own all Atelier games on Switch tbh. Still need to get Marie though
That said, the darker tone of Yumia is probably nothing new. I recall (from what I played) that the Dusk Trillogy is equally melancholic, even if it is still cheery.
@-wc- SOTC is an unforgettable classic. I was also an adult when I played it on PS Now (when that was a thing). There's a haunting beauty to the game's atmosphere that never lets you go. I still want a physical copy for a console I don't even own.
@rjejr I think you're overcomplicated this. A better reason to be cautious of real spoilers is because it's a Wii U release. And most gamers did not buy a Wii U, so this is in essence a new game.
Now what I wanna know is if the censorship was removed.
That's the only "spoiler" fans such as myself wanna know. I already played the original release on launch, so that's all I care about before considering a (re)purchase.
@Princess_Lilly While i agree with your sentiment, I don't think he's talking about the EA model. Hell, he's not even western. he's Japanese. Platinum is not even big enough to pull a Ubisoft or EA. they are just work-for-hire devs
He's likely talking about how Platinum is becoming less reliant on auteurs, because most AA studios in Japan I can't even name their own head directors. But from the yesteryear, such as Kamiya himself, i probably could
@JohnnyMind Or it could be because Visa and Mastercard have been harassing Japan to "be normal and moral" as of late, with visa lying about how its about "protecting the brand". That's probably also why Nintendo removed western payments or even has been having issues with authenticity of their eShop games as of late and why censorship made its way into otherwise cultured games these past few months...
Meanwhile Korean games have been getting away with all the same stuff Japan is getting attacked for in their art.
@MirrorFate2 Because someone who lost their arm is just an explanation, not an excuse, as to why they can't hold things, right?
Sorry, but I'm not gonna take this. Guy had issues talking to women for explained reasons and everyone wants to treat him like a martyr who deserved it instead of someone who needed some social help.
@LadyCharlie Monster? The guy has a disorder that makes it difficult to discern social ques if he isn't out right told and is socially awkward as a result and you wanna call him a monster?
The main problem with these handheld PCs for me is the lack of physical media. I already have a laptop for PC gaming, why buy this when I could buy my games on switch and actually own my games and get the same lifestyle benefits?
@SurprisedRobinChu In some fairness, the archetype game should be getting more put together as the series goes on. So if you search for "Traptrix" cards, the deck building should get easier in a way just by searching for those interactions.
Not to disavow the criticisms about the lack of a tutorial (because it's very valid), but if you want new players to get to know the rules of YuGiOh through a video game format (as was mentioned in the review), Master Duel is right there, complete with a full breakdown on the universal rules, for free on a phone or everything really.
@Aerona Considering Konami doesn't own the YuGiOh licence, I thought it was worth noting.
Anyways, certain cards that are of the vampire type show some strong castlevania roots. I'll leave you to look into that because I'm only pulling from memory right now.
@Aerona They actually have. You can find, Gradius, PowerPros, Castlevania and even that one paper airplane men game in the YGO card game if you know what archetypes to look for.
@roy130390 There are indeed side quests. Though, the main quest and simple adventuring may be a breathtaking experience to you, because the game does hit you hard in the feels through its environments alone. Speaking from experience.

Um, yeah, exactly.

@Jhena If programed right, DLSS looks about the same as the original artistic vision
It's got far more "hits" than misses.
Re: AI Upscaling On Nintendo Switch 2 Is Basically Real Thanks To Updated Patent
@Jhena It's probably closer to DLSS, which is a common tech on PCs games. Even DooM Eternal runs better with it on.
Hoping this means more 60FPS games on this system
