Re: Opinion: The Hyped-Up New Pokémon TCG Set Is A Total Bummer To Open

Samalik

Thank the Divas that I play WiXoss instead. Truly rare and expensive cards are just the heroines napping and whatever unique type of shiny card they have autographed (which excludes default shiny gemstone cards you find on Lv3 SIGNI and full art parallels)

The worst thing to happen to a card game is for prices of normal cards to become this prohibitively expensive. It's the reason why I never buy card games from European markets too, since they are double in price from the USA sellers.

@Fangleman32 When laying out potentially relevant info, like a dual screenshot as I listed is considered "inappropriate" we have a problem.

Calling everything "inappropriate" because one may have a disagreement with what was said comes off as manipulative, controlling karen speak. That's why I always roll my eyes when I see that used because it means nothing to a conversation if you don't have a good faith reason against what I said.

I myself am a moderator of a game subreddit that is still in development (will not say what it is), so I'm already aware of what kind of nonsense may happen behind the scenes and brace myself for it as the sub gets bigger. I still want to be at least fair to good faith members in the long run.

Re: Team Ninja Gears Up For Its 30th Anniversary

Samalik

@sketchturner I can't speak about the collection, but Ninja Gaiden is a pretty brutal game series in all accounts. That includes difficulty.

besides that, based on my experience with Ninja Gaiden Razor's Edge, seeing which enemies have lost limbs is an indicator that they can be taken down easily for some health or that they are a kamikaze risk, so it's very much tied to strategic gameplay feedback.

In other words you're just gonna have to get use to it. I speak as someone who doesn't typically play gory games. If it makes ya feel better, there are a lot of demon enemies in this series with their own weird colored blood, and the games are very "old samurai movie" about dismemberments, so they are quick and to the point unlike certain other action games like God of War which really make things excessive.

Either way, you might wanna play these games because they seem pretty good.

Re: Best Of 2024: The Company You Can Pay To X-Ray Unopened Pokémon Card Packs Speaks Out

Samalik

One thing that WiXoss has probably taught me, in conjunction to what other TCGs are doing, is that you should NEVER buy packs if you actually wanna play the game. Buy Booster Boxes instead. In my experience so far with Wixoss, you at least have a better time getting the cards you need for play out of 2 or 3 boxes and just buying the rest on the card market, which thankfully treats this game like an actual game as far as Wixoss is concerned.

Want that shiny SIGNI card? 5 bucks. (minus shipping)
Want that Level 3 LRIG? 1 euro. 13 bucks if you want a shiny, but nothing close to 1000 to just play the game.
The benefits of being the respected underdog I suppose.

Hell, forgo chance all together and just buy a 12x case of booster boxes. It's really expensive for a "pity system", but you'd be on a competitive level if you did. No gamble involved. (though IMO, you'd probably save money using my method for the game)

Re: Balatro Developer Calls Out 'PEGI' For Its "Weirdo" 18+ Rating

Samalik

As a gacha gamer who generally defends the genre, I'm not gonna defend EA here.
From what I heard, their games never have any pity system, and their rates are abysmal, all in a fully priced game that never needed gacha to have fun or be seen as an intentional game design quirk, sold at an age rating that is well below the commonly accepted gacha threshold of rated-T or 12+, which is probably when a kiddo does somewhat understand the value of money. Their methods really are close to exploitative gambling, even if they aren't technically gambling

Meanwhile, a card game with a casino aesthetic and nothing more, which Sonic fans are already use to, is rated 18+

Re: Several PlatinumGames Veterans Have Seemingly Left The Studio

Samalik

Well, at least Sol Cresta made the studio go out with a bang.... or bullet hel- (ya know what, forget this)

Still, makes me wonder what is gonna happen with W101 now that they own it?

Like, I just want more style action games, ya know...
On the plus side, it is possible that Capcom could obtain a licence from Sega for a Bayonetta 4

Re: 'Hyperdimension Neptunia' & 'Death End' Switch Releases Scrapped For "Not Complying With Nintendo Guidelines"

Samalik

@RiasGremory @IceEarthGuard "they revised their guidelines to not allow sexualization of what can appear as underaged characters.

Which is a good thing, but... "

I'm gonna have to stop ya right there. It's NOT a good thing. Telling an artist how they are allowed to make their art is going to cause more issues, not helped by Nintendo making their own RPGs for teens and adults using lolicon tropes as is because japan and otaku tropes like to have their fun in that way.
An artist shouldn't be stifled because someone with certain closet feelings tells them they can't do it. The consumer should have the right to choose if games are made with them in mind or not, assuming the art used ethical means to be made,of course.
Nintendo should not be a middle man on content inclusions for 3rd parties, especially not with the AI slop breaching their shop and burying actual artistic endeavors. (Why aren't they taking that down?!?!)

Re: Review: Fairy Tail 2 (Switch) - Hurt By Its Breakneck Pace, But Still A Step Up

Samalik

@Daniel36 Discrimination is bad! 😛 It's ultimately on you if it appeals to your impulses in "that way". (in which case I don't get why you are pushing back if it does tickle your instincts.)

Just take it. Expand your horizons! This series is quite the jovial and happy series for those who like to relax and empty their heads. Very cute and comfy, while putting lots of emphasis on character writing through mundane scenarios. People usually recommend Ryza because of how streamlined its systems are, but Sophie and Shallie are also great picks coming from me.

Shallie might require two playthroughs though. The reason why will become obvious when you pick it up.
