Re: Nintendo Is "A Jewel" In The Industry And Has The Best First-Party Pedigree, Says Xbox Boss

Saego

I really like Phil Spencer and also the direction xBox is going. Their whole 'we don't care where you play, as long as it is in our eco-system' is really nice. They give a lot of options on how to play, instead of forcing you to buy the latest xBox. I'm always surprised when I hear people being mad at Microsoft because they don't have a reason to buy the Series X because they own a PC. Be glad instead.

Although they totally blew it with the xBox One, where it felt like they were not relying on exclusives while it's one of the most useful ways to attract buyers, I feel that they finally understand how important these are and are putting a lot of resources into the development of these. I think it will take a few years before we can reap the benefits of this though.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Paper Mario Game?

Saego

Paper Mario 64 is the king for me. Everything felt fresh for me. I tried TTYD, but eventually stopped playing because of the long arena sequence. I also really enjoyed Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.

Re: Nintendo: It Would Be A "Disservice" To "Loyal Fans" To Release Animal Crossing In A Rushed State

Saego

@Tantani If you don't think that its a complete game, then just don't buy it.

I agree with you, although making such projects isn't as easy as you make it sound, but GameFreak won't change a thing. And we both know that.

Every year it's the same: people want Pokémon to innovate or change, they see gameplay and get mad/frustrated but when the game launches, most of the 'haters' still buy it. And I'm one of those actually.

Re: Nintendo: It Would Be A "Disservice" To "Loyal Fans" To Release Animal Crossing In A Rushed State

Saego

@Tantani Delaying is not a solution. Don't forget that around Sword & Shield, trading cards are being made, just as an anime. I'm right with you, not to be misunderstood, I think GameFreak should give their games more development time aswell, instead of just copy and pasting their usual formula, with a few new gimmicks they probably won't use in future games (like mega evolutions for example).

Aside from delaying, Pokémon is the biggest cash cow in the gaming industry. With almost 'minimum' effort, it sells for millions, because people will buy it anyway.

Re: It Seems You Can't Play Against Friends Online In Super Mario Maker 2

Saego

@ALinkttPresent I want you to be right. However, multiple sites (one which is GameXplain) asked a Nintendo representative if there would be online multiplayer where you can play with friends, who denied that.

So either the Nintendo rep made a mistake, or the Polygon author. I hope it's the first, we will see.

Re: It Seems You Can't Play Against Friends Online In Super Mario Maker 2

Saego

@AlternateButtons Ofcourse, when you're excited about Mario Maker before the direct, the lack of multiplayer with friends won't be a dealbreaker.

But there were also people, who thought that you could play online with friends after the Direct and got excited and wanted to buy the game, just to play with their friends far away, or something. Ofcourse, Nintendo never communicated that SMM2 would have online multiplayer with friends, but it looked like it. Also, implementing online multiplayer just so you can play with randoms and not friends doesn't make sense, but I think we can all agree on that. But I hope you (and everyone else) will enjoy the game, and that Nintendo adds online multiplayer with friends. I don't mind waiting for that.

@ALinkttPresent
Nintendo just retweeted that there will be multiplayer. Something we know for a long time now. It doesn't say anything about playing online with friends.

Re: It Seems You Can't Play Against Friends Online In Super Mario Maker 2

Saego

@AlternateButtons Only creating and downloading them? Not.. you know.. playing them? With friends? Just kidding, I understand what you're saying, although I think you're wrong.

Everyone has their own reason to buy this game, even though it doesn't have to be yours. Some people like designing the stages, others like to beat really unfair stages made by someone else.

I like to play with my friends, local and multiplayer. As someone who isn't really that creative, I don't like designing stages. I actually don't like to play solo too.

And yes, I agree, local multiplayer is more fun than online multiplayer. But that doesn't mean it sucks, it's just not as great.

But what I liked about the online multiplayer, is that everyone can clear the stage or do whatever at its own pace, without depending on the other players because of the screen, something which is local not possible (unless every player has its own copy of MM2 + Switch). And since it's such a hassle everytime to gather all your friends to hangout at your casa and play Mario Maker 2 for just a few hours, just to probably never play it again with them, isn't worth it for me.

Now don't get me wrong, this game looks amazing. It just isn't worth the €60 for me, explained by the reasons above.

@ALinkttPresent
Don't spread false information. That tweet is nowhere to be found, the rumor has been comfirmed by Polygon and GameXplain, who asked a Nintendo rep.

Re: Respawn Would "Love" To Bring Apex Legends To Switch But Has Nothing To Reveal Right Now

Saego

@Kienda On the other hand, while it's still EA, this is actually a good game. Yes, it does have lootboxes and microtransactions. But every type of content is available without spending real money.

It's a blast to play and an example of an EA game done right, mostly because of Respawn but sure. Maybe because of this huge succes, we will get more quality games like this. Probably MP instead of SP, but still.

Re: Piranha Plant Is Now Available In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Saego

@Kienda Nintendo communicated multiple times that Piranha Plant would be launched in February and that you have to register your game card (claim your gold points) before 11:59 p.m. PT on Jan 31.

Then you'll get a code (10 days max) through the mail, based on which mail your My Nintendo account uses. If you use Gmail, don't forget to check your spam and stuff.

The download code expires 11:59 p.m. PT on 6/30/2019.

Re: Reminder: You Have Just One Week To Claim Piranha Plant As Free DLC For Smash Ultimate

Saego

@Kienda 1. No, it doesn't as far as I know. You couldn't unlock DLC characters in Smash Wii U & 3DS with Amiibo, so I guess that also doesn't work in Ultimate.

2. So the 5 DLC packs (fighter, stage and music) included in the Season Pass cost $4.99 each ($25 total), but only when you buy the Season Pass. DLC packs will also be available for individual purchase upon release for US$5.99 each.

3. You should, yes!

Edit: about the price of Piranha Plant when you don't own Smash before February: that's currently unknown as far as I know. My guess is that he will cost $4, maybe $5 or something.

Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate Sold 1.2 Million Copies In Japan During Launch Week

Saego

@hoopderscotch In 2017, xBox One had a marketshare of 1% in Japan (90K sales). Even if all those owners bought MH:W for their Xbone (which is very unlikely), Playstation still dominates the whole MH:W sales at launch. So to say it's 100% fair to compare those sales, no, but I still understand the comparison.

Don't forget that there are less Switch owners compared to Playstation 4 owners too, which makes it even more impressive.

Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate Sold 1.2 Million Copies In Japan During Launch Week

Saego

@hoopderscotch Not really true, since MH:W (PC version) launched way later in Japan (and the other parts of the world).

In that case we only have PS4 and xBoxOne left. Even though it is multiplatform, it's safe to say that most people in Japan bought the game for PS4 at launch. In my opinion the sales comparison between Smash and MH:W isn't that weird then.

Re: Rumour: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Is Taking To The Skies On Switch

Saego

I loved Skyward Sword. The game looks really good on the Wii, it's just that the resolution is so bad. Crank that up, make the sky all blue instead of poopy, and I will buy it in seconds.

I'm not sure if Nintendo should make the motion controls optional. Enemies, gear and puzzles (or level design) clearly aren't build around it. Going to take a lot of time to redesign that.
