After coming under fire for allegedly stealing dances from famous people and taking ideas from other battle royale shooters, Fortnite appears to be coming up with more and more inventive ideas on a regular basis. This includes recently hosting its very own in-game Marshmello concert, with more than 10 million players attending, and over time it has pulled off a few other insane marketing stunts.
In the latest update for the free-to-play multi-platform release, Epic Games has added driftboards, allowing players to "battle in style" while simultaneously firing at enemies and executing tricks. Check out the below trailer, which looks like a scene out of 1080° Snowboarding or EA's SSX series, but with guns:

Epic is getting way too desperate. Just kill Fortnite while you can and move one.
Rubbish game made for rubbish people.
A terrible game, and luckily beaten by TETRIS!
No, it’s not like 1080! How dare you?!
It’s truly an awful thing that preys on small children. I still wonder why it is so prevalent. It’s a blight on our society, and it only hurts people. The rash and conjunctivitis are probably its worst traits.
Oh wait, this article is about Fortnite, not measles.
The boards seem a little nifty, but I think overall Epic is going a little too far with all of the vehicles. I’d like to see them strip it back to the karts again.
One day, much like Angry Birds and any other free-to-play title forced down our gaming throats across all media platforms and department store aisles, Fortnite will be a distant memory. We'll be on to the next annoying fad that is thrust into the spotlight without deserving the honor, but still, no more Fortnite costumes on Halloween store walls. And that in itself is a joyous thought
I don't see why people get so triggered by a free to play game but whatever floats your boat.
I don't like the community but that's not the games fault.
Oh look. They now started copying stuff from Warframe.
@saintayu it and it’s Pubg brother have created a plague on the shooter genre that keeps sucking in devs seemingly preventing things like Titanfall 3 and new arcade style Housemarque games from happening, in 2016 I thought Doom would have started a great trend for shooters but nope it’s runnng around giant maps until you get snipped to permadeath. This thing is more disruptive that the rush to make World of Warcraft clones because it’s sucking in console developer as well.
@BensonUii I'm a kid here. Old kid with kids, but it counts. For something.
I like this. Fortnite is a great game, and is a lot of fun to play. I guess people enjoy agreeing with each other about not having fun though
Every limited event item they put in the game end up becoming permanent, it may be out of the game for a while, but it will return. So meh.
@SalvorHardin EA comfirmed in november that a new Titanfall is coming. And no, not a mobile game, but Titanfall 3.
@saintayu Pretty sure it's directly the game's fault the community is the way it is. The unofficial spokesperson is a screeching tweaker, it's inhabited by kids that want to have dance parties, and it's full of cringe at every turn. The game enables all of that at every chance it gets, and will continue to do so until the money stops coming in.
@SethNintendo
@GyroZeppeli
Absolutely...... oh BTW I learnt the Spin. Aka Hamon 2.0
@SethNintendo why single out woman? Lots of men also like pop music. Also I find people who use the term sheep or sheeple are non conformist conformist.
Rip fortnite🤣
I find it really funny how a lot of people here complain so harshly about fortnite
A bad game? A rubbish game for rubbish people? Wow
It's exactly like with minecraft back then, both are really good games, the fact that you just hate it for being popular is naive, maybe you could try it out? Instead of talking non-sense
@GyroZeppeli Sounds like terrible advice. They are making a ton of money and they have a ton of fans that enjoy their game. Why would they kill it? It's a good game. It's free to play. If you don't like it because it's not your style or it's doesn't appeal to you that's okay but stop calling for it's demise because you don't like it.
@SethNintendo What’s wrong with a guy liking pop music?! Isn’t music supposed to be pleasing to listen to? No, I’m not really a fan of Britney Spears, but I do like Ariana Grande and Whitney Houston as an example. They both have incredible vocal ranges and smooth voices that I find pleasing to listen to. Male singers just have more of a rough voice which I do prefer for country music. Just because I’m a guy doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy pop music.
@SethNintendo
"Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good"
Saying that people have poor taste and are sheeps just because you dislike something honestly just makes you look like a jackass tbh
I dislike a lot of pop music but I'm not going to put people down for it, same goes for Fortnite. Our taste in videogames and music isn't more important than anyone else's, and our opinions aren't any more relevant.
Also, no one needs advice on how to be masculine from some dude with an anime avatar on a Nintendo fan site, friend.
(Not trying to make fun of anyone with an anime avatar, just guys like Seth whose masculinity is so fragile)
@SethNintendo I didn't expect much more than your response.
Gender and music has to be one of the largest reaches I have ever in my life seen. Men can like female voices and woman can like male voices. Not liking pop music or a video game makes you better than no one
Great... Now I can get killed on spinning around on a hover board.
@SethNintendo I have a different theory. I think people who try to act "too cool for school" and go out of their way to not be another sheep are hypocrites.
At the same time, I'm not saying you MUST like Fortnite. I actually don't care, play what you love! This game just receives unfair hate thrown at it on a daily basis from people trying way too hard to sound cool or smart.
@Reverandjames Very well said.
@dkxcalibur also very well said
@saintayu also very well said
why is the comments section always so all over the place whenever it's about something popular? Wait I think I know, it's because non-conformity is the new conformity. Can we use Nintendo Life the way it is kind of meant to be? To read news about Nintendo and all things related to it, no matter how distant they may be, and stop getting into heated arguments over every article about Fortnite, Pokémon, and etc.? I'm not saying that expressing your opinions is wrong in any way, I'm just saying that there are better places to do that than a Nintendo life comments section. oof I kind of went on a tangent there my bad
@SethNintendo Dude, conforming is literally what most of us do. Plenty of young guys listen to Justin Bieber or Sia or whatever is relevant these days. Some of them that go to clubs half naky and shout stuff like TGIF probably have a nintendo product, also. Some that used to do that probably had a family together and bought a switch for their ill raised little kids and play it with them. A lot of the future ignorant mass conditioned are children right now and are playing Mario Kart 8 dx on their switch in Mcdonalds.
Being a hipster lets you enjoy way less because you're actively trying to avoid enjoying things that are popular.
As you say, "just because it's popular, it doesn't mean it's good.". This also works the other way around.
@BKPyrexx I agree, mostly. I have no problem with someone saying they dislike Fortnite because the controls are not responsive or because they find the gameplay repetitive. I'm okay with people having a negative opinion about a game if they support it. However, I do have a problem with people disliking something because it's popular and because they think that they're superior by just saying they hate something. That I am growing very tired of. I really honestly think Fortnite is a quality game despite the fact that I've only briefly played it. Kids seem to enjoy it. They do the dances in public and they genuinely look like they're having fun doing them. They buy shirts and toys based off of Fortnite because they ENJOY the game and yet some people think this is bad??? Since when is it bad to mimic something or to buy a toy? I pretended to be a Thundercat when I was a kid. I bought a million Ninja Turtle action figures. I word t-shirts with Mario on them. I also have listened to pop music! Does it make me a sheep because I like what I like just because others also like the same stuff?
@dxcalibur yea that's a good point
@SethNintendo
To confirm your points so far:
*Consensus is always wrong.
*Difference is bad.
*Men who like pop music are feminine & therefore bad.
Well, those views were certainly the consensus a few decades ago. Good thing society moved on.
@DanteSolablood well said
@SethNintendo
The irony of you calling any of us self righteous is off the charts. Good riddance you vulgar, fragile, triggered manbaby. The last thing this community needs is a douchebag with a superiority complex. I'm going to assume you have a pretty hard, lonely life outside of the internet.
Yeah, sure, it's a gimmick. But it's working on me. Will have to re-download the game tonight.
@dkxcalibur Fortnite is already dying on its own because of Apex. If the game was still thriving, power to Epic, but at this point they are just wasting money. It’s not like Epic haven’t had successes other than Fortnite, so why keep people waiting for something new? That’s my take on it.
@GyroZeppeli
It isn't dying because of Apex. Sure the game probably took some of their playerbase, but the two games are very distinct and being second place in the most popular game genre at the moment is hardly what I'd call "dying". I'm not a fan of the game but the bias here is crazy.
@Spudtendo I’m indifferent towards both. However, there has obviously been a sharp decline in interest. Shortly after Apex released, Fortinite was knocked off the #1 most viewed spot. You can’t deny there is some truth to this. (Also No Fortnite February contributed)
@GyroZeppeli
Being knocked off the number 1 spot for anything doesn't mean it's suddenly dying, though. If that were the case we might as well declare the PS4 dead because the Switch is selling better. It just means it isn't number one anymore, but I guarantee you that Fortnite is going to be just fine as far as profits go for a few more years.
Off topic, but hey a "greedy" company like Wargaming should make their Battle Royale game heheh. (they kinda made one in World of tanks a long time ago, but that mode is gone).
@GyroZeppeli I disagree once again. Just because something else has come along (it was bound to happen) doesn't mean it's the death of Fortnite. Epic still generates revenue for Fortnite in an incredible amount. There are millions of gamers who still playing Fortnite. Is it as popular as it was about 8 months ago....probably not. Is it still one of the most played games currently, YES!
