The rumours about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt coming to the Switch just won't go away. Following on from multiple online listings for a Nintendo version of CD Projekt's magnificent action-adventure game, we now have Geralt of Rivia's voice actor – Doug Cockle – talking about a potential port.
Yep, he's literally asking who else would like to see the white wolf come to Nintendo's hybrid platform and has directly tagged CD Projekt Red. Here's the tweet, which ends with a winky face...
The smiley at the end of Cockle's tweet has sent fan speculation into overdrive once again. If this rumour turns out to be true, we'll presumably get a more official confirmation at this year's E3.
These rumours about the Witcher 3 coming to this device were first ignited when a French retailer listed a Nintendo version of the game alongside Assassin's Creed III for the Switch, which was then revealed shortly after this during a Direct presentation.
What are your thoughts about Geralt himself asking for a Nintendo version of The Witcher 3? Tell us below.

I wonder if 32GB cartridge can hold the full (downgraded) Witcher 3.
@Zuljaras Why are you so keen on emphasizing that this will be a "downgraded" version of the game? The Witcher 3 on the Switch in any form is excellent regardless of its graphical fidelity.
If the rumours are true then it's a very nice addition to the growing library and possibly opens gateway to more CD Projekt Red collaborations.
@Varkster Because every port on the Switch is downgraded compared to the other platforms. This is a fact and I am ok with it! I have bought games on the Switch again just because they are on Switch as my proffered console!
Because if I had to choose lower resolution textures over half the game on the cart I would choose the LOW rez. And they could add higher rez textures or decompressed sound as an update.
I might of already spent 250+ hours in Witcher 3 and all the DLC, played loads of thronebreaker and Gwent and read all the books, but I'll gladly do it again on the go.
What I'd really appreciate would be remasters of the first two games since I only watched let's plays of them.
@Zuljaras Be aware that Switch ports of AAA games are may be downgraded but not as much as you think. Have also in mind that the different resolutions do not have as much impact on a consumer's mind as video game sites may want you to believe. Nintendo Switch's success so far should be a hint to you about that.
@Zuljaras
if the go all out and its all on cart ill likely be there day 1 given a reasonable price, have heard nothing but good things about this game from others
Readying my "money to screen" catapult...
@ICISAZEL I know! I have zero interest in Witcher 1 and 2 but Witcher 3 is pure open world experience that is worth it. And if they really go al out for the Switch I will buy it at 60$ without hesitation.
@Cosats I know the resolution does not equal more sales. But if lowered enough it could mean that the whole game could fit on the cart (in terms of lower rez textures).
Nice try Doug but it's already been leaked
And like I said, I want all three.😆 Including the first two that I already own in the form that's [allegedly] playable on GPD.
Streaming services maybe. Apart from that the game have issues on other graphics demanding consoles. The switch is one of the greatest innovation of recent time in gaming industry.
It would be interesting to see this happen. I was sort of lukewarm on the game overall, but having something like this on the Switch in a playable form would be a big boon for the system.
Well, let's see. If he voices a game he wants on Switch, he really wants a pay day and nothing more.
Pretty sure this qualifies as a 'proven third party' game Nintendo referred to as part of their strategy for Switch support. So...
The Switcher is my most hoped-for port. Please be true!
It will look and run like dog turd, no thanks
My 2 main third party games wishes.. persona 5 and the witcher 3, come on guyyys, plzzzz!
Spent 140h on the PS4 GOTY version. I wouldn't double dip but it would be a great addition for other Switch owners.
I already played it on my PC for many, many hours, so I won't pick it up again, but I hope this is true. Every Switch owner should play this masterpiece then.
@Ralizah will love this.
thing is it's not about what he wants, or even what gamer's want, it's whether or not they can even get it to run on the Switch
of course i would love this to come to the Switch but not if it means compromising the game to do it
Would love to see Witcher 1 and 2 as part of a bundle too.
This is definitely one game that I would gladly buy again. Such a brilliant experience and the story for me was top notch.
The Witcher on Switch would be my Last Wish
Day one. Make it happen.
@Zuljaras
This is one where it would be nice if they’d give us the option of a texture pack. If they’re going to cram it all onto a cartridge well played to them. However those of us who aren’t that bothered could benefit from the game using some SD Card space to improve things. I’ve played his on XB1X and I think the difference will be pretty profound.
Day one, take my money now!
@Octane Yeah, I just... don't see this ending well. I mean, something has to give, considering it took a lot of optimization to get the game running in barely acceptable form on Xbox One/PS4 in the first place. They would have even fewer system resources to work with here, so something would suffer dramatically: framerate, resolution, draw distance, texture quality... probably more than one of those. The "impossible ports" that have barely worked out all had something they could sacrifice. In the case of DOOM 2016, Panic Button halved the framerate. Even then, texture quality on the Switch version of DOOM is below what you'd get on low settings on a PC, and the resolution got pretty low at times. Now consider that TW3 barely runs well on home consoles to begin with. What, exactly, are the people porting it going to be able to sacrifice to make the transition work? I just don't see a scenario where this doesn't turn into another ARK: Survival Evolved.
All I can think about is this video whenever this topic is mentioned:

@electrolite77 If this ends up real, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a case of using an 8GB cart and everything not on the cart is a mandatory download. Nintendo seems to be the only one that uses carts higher than 8GB for regions outside Asia.
The game's great, own it on PS4 (played lots of hours on it) and own it on XBONE (basically because the systems are in two different parts of the house). Would pick it up on Switch (once the price drops down), but I hope they use the 2-cartridge scheme for it, so it can run everything and not be 'chopped down' like many people on here are stating, not that I really care about that stuff, just thinking that it would be the best thing since the game is pretty big in size. As for what other comments are on here, I honestly never played the first 2 in the series either, so that would also be a nice addition if they were released too, but other than that, depending on how old they actually are, I doubt I'd care.
This would be a perfect opportunity to actually play The Witcher 3! Then again, I could always play it on my Xbox, but I feel like there is something about the Switch that makes it more appealing.
Great to see and another positive for the Switch. I have it on PC already so I doubt I would double dip though it would be tempting.
@Varkster
It's obviously gonna be downgraded. They said the reason it was a PS4 game originally was because the PS3 just couldn't handle it.
Well the Switch is probably less powerful than the PS3 in quite a few ways.
A dull overrated and boring game. You'd be forgiven for thinking it was an Ubisoft game with countless question marks on a map with little to nothing there once you explore them
@mgnoodle I actually agree. It wasn't nearly as good as it was made out to be.
@Varkster
I didn't say inferior in general. I said in some ways.
e.g it's processor has a lower clock speed. Obviously in other ways it's much more powerful, like RAM.
CD Projekt are typically pretty good miracle workers, but I still have my doubts about this one, regardless of all the rumors about it being ported. If it did happen though, I would be pretty happy. I have only experienced this game one time.
I'd get this day one! You can have sex on top of a horse! That says it all!
Day one buy if it actually happens.
I'd double dip the entire series.
Until they do a beta project to make it anyone saying they know otherwise and isn't part of the development team are keeping their heads up where the sun don't shine.
I must be one of the few that never got Witcher 3. I only played it for about 3 hours so I might give it a chance when I get my backlog down, I think I got all the dlc when it was on sale too.
