The Pokémon Company International recently announced some additions to its latest line of trading cards, inspired by the upcoming Pokémon film, Detective Pikachu.
The three new cards, available beginning April 5th, will include Mr. Mime, Jigglypuff and Psyduck – characters all featured in recent trailers for the film. A word of warning: the images you are about to see depict these Pokémon in their CGI movie likenesses and may be disturbing to some. Take a look below:
In total, there will be 26 brand new trading cards released for the film. Previously announced cards include Detective Pikachu, as well as Charizard and Greninja. All of the new cards will be compatible with existing decks and are permitted in official Pokémon TCG matches.
Other Detective Pikachu-themed merchandise will include hats, shirts, books, pins, plushes, and more. Many of the products will become available at PokemonCenter.com on April 2nd. We can already feel our wallets trembling with terror. Although not open to the public, these selected products will be on display at The Pokémon Company’s booth at the American International Toy Fair in New York taking place on February 19th.
Pokémon: Detective Pikachu will be hitting theaters May 10th of this year.
Do you currently play Pokémon TCG? Will you be purchasing any of the new CGI cards - or is this the stuff of nightmares? Let us know in the comments below.

I once accidentally clicked on a tweet that turned out to be a video of a beheading.
Seeing those cards was worse.
I actually don't mind the look of the pokemon, except jigglypuff. Not because I find it creepy, but the fact that what is supposed to be a balloon pokemon has a lot of hair.
@jamison1993 so Jigglypuff a hairy balloon then.
Aw, Psyduck, poor thing, you.
I am kinda glad these hideous cards are total trash-tier. Pokemon has had some honest to god BEAUTIFUL artwork over the years. These are easily some of the ugliest however.
Jigglypuff is probably the worst looking Pokemon I've seen from the movie, it should NOT be furry like that.
Mr.Mime actually looks pretty okay in that picture, I could easily buy it being just basic everyday art for the TGC.
God why. Just... no.
Love it. I don't understand the hate on Jiggly.
They look better than they did in Pokemon Let's Go.
@jamison1993 ikr i was just thinking that exact same thing! Like, what is up with that?
that psyduck might be the worst card ever
I actually thought all three of those cards were quite charming. I would prefer the original cards, but they still looked neat.
Pokemon Creepy Version
I’m liking the style of the pokemon, I just couldn’t stick Ryan Reynolds for that length of time. Bloody hell, that psyduck card is atrocious though.
I really love the style used for these cards, the only thing that has me confused is Mr Mime's hair.. isn't hair. I never realised Mr Mime had "head-wings".
Not sure about the jigglypuff hate, I think it looks pretty awesome. And of course jigglypuff has hair/fur.. otherwise its "curl" would just be some phallic lump of fat bouncing around from its forehead.
@jswhitfield8 Mr mime is demonstrating how intends to become our collective new dad
@Heavyarms55 Honestly Mr.Mime and Psyduck in these shots are the best they've looked as far as movie renders go. JP is the only one of them that is absolutely horrific.
Mr. Mime looks like hes about to default dance.
@MegaVel91 Best they have looked? Only if you compare them only to other shots from the Detective Pikachu movie!
@jswhitfield8 Eh just your naughty mind "exploding" out about it. Looks more like he is riding a motorcycle in that mime.
What has become of Pokemon.....Gamefreak? Pkmn Company??, Nintendo??? This is incompetence at its finest!!! I cannot believe a legendary franchise is coming to ruin... get these new pkmn developers off your office, detective pikachu is senseless and an abomination, one look and you can tell its a non canon filler in the pkmn universe, it shouldnt exist!!!!
Rob Kotick may not be needed in Activision, he needs to be in Gamefreak!!!!
I want a realistic Pinsir in that movie. I would never go outside if Pinsirs were real
