We brought the news earlier this month that the quirky 3DS RPG Miitopia would be getting localised for a Western release, and in today's New 2DS XL unveiling video it was revealed that the quirk RPG will be released on 28th July. It is now listed for $39.99 on Nintendo of America's website and is also confirmed for the same date in Europe.
In the game you guide your team of Mii characters on a quest to defeat the Dark Lord and restore the stolen faces of the citizens of Miitopia. Mii characters will mingle over food, camping, exercise, sleeping arrangements as well as combat.
All in all Miitopia seems like a surprisingly deep RPG experience wrapped up in a cute exterior. The game features amiibo support too, so it will be a perfect fit for the upcoming New 2DS XL when it releases on the same day.

Looks like good silly fun for people who enjoyed Street Pass Quest and Tomodachi Collection.
This looks great!
I had a ton of fun with Tomodachi Life. Something about taking care of a full apartment building of quirky characters kept me coming back for many hours. This will likely be the first reason I have to go back to my 3DS since March 3.
Oh My Heavenly Lord...!!!
Aaaaaaagh.... !!!
I can't wait for another 3 months from now !
Muchas gracias, Nintendo !
When this was first shown I thought it was a simple - set up your Mii's in cool dioramas and take photos of them - which seemed like a fun little free idea for Street Pass but not a game. Now though, seems like I was thoroughly wrong and this seems like a really cool game. And releasing it the same day as the New 2DS XL works well. Releasing it the same day as Hey Pikmin seems like a really bad idea though. A few weeks earlier or later would be better, not like the 3DS release schedule is that full. Oh well.
its a shame this didn't come out earlier since I got my switch I haven't touched my 3ds, I definitely would have got this before but not now
Erm, why is Iwata the evil dude in the top right?
@Bunkerneath
The Evil Lord was Minoru. Not related with Satoru Iwata.
Check this Japanese trailer.
Isn't this the same day as Hey Pikmin? Nintendo that's too many games!
@BezBot And a week after Splatoon 2 :').
@SanderEvers I never said anything about there not being games on Switch. I'm just saying that there is a long period of no 3ds games then they just put them all together, they should spread it out so there is more time to enjoy each game, because all of those games are finished.
@BezBot
Btw, are you broke now ?
Not enough money to buy more Nintendo games ?
Just curious...
@Anti-Matter Yeah I don't really have the money to buy games now
I don't think I'll get it day 1, but I probably will get this eventually. I loved Tomodachi Life.
I'll probably get it around Day 1. I need to see more info, videos, and maybe NintendoLife's review before I decide.
Will it import Miis from our Streetpass Plaza to act as NPCs and party members? That would be AWESOME.
So excited for this game coming to the West at last
D1B for sure!
I'm actually surprised by this price point, I was expecting it to come in at the same price as Animal Crossing & Tomodachi life.
@BezBot Hey,doesn't the New 2DS release around then?
@NandN3ds Yeah the same day, and I think i'll get one.
@rjejr Don't forget Dr. Kawashima, same day as well!
I'll definitely be getting this at launch. New 2DSXL, probably not, unless it has increased processing power. Even then, I like my standard size N3DS too much.
@gortsi Is that the "Brain Age" game? I can't see that selling well in the west. But whatever it is, 2 games was already 1 too many that day.
I'm not too worried about Splatoon 2 though, the 3DS install base is just so much larger, it will take Switch years to catch up.
@Sakura it has the increased processing power the nN3DS models have. @rjejr yeah, that's it. Only coming out in Europe too, it came out in the States in 2013. I think Nintendo is wrapping it up with late localizations and some spin-offs in 2017
@gortsi it came out in the States in 2013.
Well that's a tad bit of a delay. Might as well just wait for the Switch port.
@RoomB31 think animal crossing retailed for 40 when it first came out. They lowered it to 30 awhile later.
I know I shouldn't be interested this (even though its prob a great game), but seeing these 3ds Mii's in such a big 1st party game just makes me want it lol. It's as if this game is a celebration of the 3ds itself. This could possibly belong on my system alongside some old streetpass DL's.
I was expecting this to be a StreetPass game! I'm pretty interested, not sure if I'm $40 interested though. Still, it might not stay in print long so I might as well pick it up day one!
@gortsi I was thinking, well wondering, if not having to deal with 3D might give more power for other aspects of processing. I don't know anything about these things, but will probably check out the specs/comparisons when it actually launches. Digital Foundry will probably oblige.
@Sakura maybe, who knows? What is annoying for me as the owner of a n3ds is that the extra RAM and GPU is not being utilized in old titles at all unless you hack the console, which I'm not willing to do. I wish some developers patched their games to take advantage but I guess it's too late for that
