Bring back the white Joycons! The original switch OLED model looked so good. I can only imagine a switch 2 equivalent!

The racing has never felt better than in MK World. It's so tight and wonderful to control. Definitely a step up from previous titles. I don't want another MK8 - that game already exists. Happy to let World become it's own thing and Knockout Tour is the best MK mode ever created.

It’s had a great first year! DKB is amazing. Mario Kart World is awesome, specifically Knockout Tour. Metroid Prime 4 was good also. Good third party support too with RE Requiem, Pragmata, Indiana Jones. Can’t complain so far!

Pretty much box fresh. Maybe the thumb sticks are ever so slightly worn due to all the Mario Kart. But otherwise not a mark on it!

And I’ll add that Metroid Dread was my favourite game on Switch!

Really sorry to hear this. They make some of the best games out there. I hope other developers are snapping them up as they’re clearly a very talented bunch of people.

3rd trumps 1st for me. But I enjoy 1st and appreciate the option to choose. Everyone’s preferred play style has been covered which is amazing!

I'm thinking a Metroid Prime 4 structure. A huge open world region of space to fly freely around with random dogfights and interesting things to visit. But be able to fly towards various planets/levels where you seamlessly fly down to the surface for a more Starfox 64 style on-rails experience.

Still really enjoying World. I’m addicted to the online Knockout tour. Even when shells seem to appear out of nowhere to take me out 😭

I too would LOVE to see the earlier entries remastered in a more modern style, but give them a chance. I’m sure they’re coming but they’ll be busy focussing on the current game (requiem). I’d imagine the remasters will come as filler in the next couple of years before we get RE10.

Love the 3DS! I considered it my main console for a while. I had the
New Nintendo 3DS XL which served me well and is the best in terms of size and power.

But I do love the New Nintendo 3DS. Smaller, yes, but It felt more rugged and its snes colours were lovely.

The larger screens on the 2DS XL are probably the best though if you’re prepared to sacrifice the 3D

For anyone who's not yet played this - I highly recommend! It's one of the best RE games to date.

Hollow Knight. Dropped off Silk Song after The Last Judge. Didn't want to put myself through the pain any more

If MP2 comes to NSO, I think that rules out a proper remaster. Makes sense as Metroid fans have eaten well lately with MP1 remaster and MP4. I just hope I'll be able to cope with the dated tank controls!

It’s been excellent. Great hardware and some solid 1st party games (Mario Kart, Bonanza, Prime 4). Mario will arrive when he’s good and ready and I’m happy to wait.
3rd Party support has been good too with games like Cyberpunk.
Overall I’m very happy and have no regrets in upgrading from my Switch 1.
It’s ace!

I have full faith in Retro and just know I’m going to adore this game. Personally, I’m glad they’re trying some new things whilst honouring the original trilogy. Sounds right up my street! Oh, and it looks drop dead GORGEOUS!

@Samick that must be a nice upgrade from the Switch Lite! I love motion controls too. They worked great for Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and Prime Trilogy!

All fair points. It’s their game and we don’t have the right to demand change if it’s not their vision. That said, I’ve given up as it’s too hard for me. Seems I just don’t have the skill level needed for a game like this. Shame as I loved Hollow Knight.

Agree with everything you say. They’ve created this perfect game. BUT.. the real shame is sadly, most people won’t get to see any of it due to its difficulty. They’ll give up and drop off the game.

I’m loving Silksong. Although I forgot how punishingly difficult Team Cherry like to make their games. I stuck with Hollow Knight to the end so I expect I’ll do the same this time round. But dang! This is a hard game. Amazing, but very hard.

Nintendo life, IGN and direct from Nintendo via social media for me. I also love a weekly podcast like NVC. I’d love NintendoLife to do something similar.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this game! It looks so good!! The Odyssey team is a huge positive sign that this is going to be a classic. Maybe the next 3D Mario is with another team (Bowsers Fury team, hopefully).

This was a great read, Ollie. It’s these classic memories we should cherish more! I remember buying my GameCube purely to play prince of Persia: Warrior Within. Once I had that I went straight for the Zelda’s and Mario’s and rediscovered Nintendo’s magic and got back into gaming! Never looked back since!

Prices will continue to rise until the consumer pushes back and stops buying. They'll charge as much as they can get away with.

I won’t be picking any up at launch. I’ve no interest in the camera or chat, and I have a switch 1 pro controller which will serve me well for a while. I do fancy a pro controller 2 but happy to hold off. The console and a couple of launch games will do me for a while.

It looks awesome. I look at it this way. I was prepared and willing to pay £60 on this game anyway. So, is the new stuff, ie new tracks, free roam, grinding, pit stops etc, worth £20 more?

I do wonder if that extra usb c port on the top of the console is there to attach an optional second screen. Perhaps unlikely, but it would be an great way to bring over DS/3DS games…

Sad to hear this. They’re super talented. MP Remastered is probably the best remaster I’ve played. Hope they all get snapped up by other companies.

They’ve definitely done a deal with Team Cherry to launch Silksong with the console. Can’t see another reason why it’s been delayed so long. Also, Prime 4 will be cross-gen with upgraded visuals and mouse support for the switch 2 version. Nice incentive to buy a Switch 2..

Metroid Prime 4 will be a cross-gen launch game playable with standard controls on the Switch1. But for Switch2 Left joycon in left hand controlling movement, and right joycon used as a mouse to aim. That’ll be the incentive to upgrade to the switch 2
