I love analog triggers and am saddened by this. Many pro third party controllers have levels of triggers so you can slide the button on the back or top of the controller and you would limit how far the trigger goes. That would have solved this issue and gave us both.
Of course it's worse. Do any of these third party brands ever do a real effort? Very few of them ever do with controllers and such. It's a shame, really. Lots have unique technology, features, but yet fail in reliability and build quality.
@UltimateInkling
Me too . Lovely relaxing music playing. Now it's so corporate-like and boring. I hate browsing the eShop now on Switch for many reasons, especially how slow it is, which made no sense. I do not trust Nintendo. They couldn't even fix that nor update that.
On the other hand, the Xbox store is sooo fast and smooth.
@Vyacheslav333 They have to give the illusion of quality via higher prices. That's why their products cost more also. Apple does the same. If you price something too low, people view it as cheap or low quality.
The problem is that Nintendo hardly updates their games and adds new content, so it really shows how low quality they are in their hearts. They charge high, and don't give that much. Their games are replayable at least.
@ElkinFencer10
The issue is this, for us with kids and for us:
Switch 2 with Mario Kart World, 500 USD.
Pro Controller 2, probably around 90, (not sure).
Camera accessory: no idea yet, maybe 60?
Extra Joy-Cons 2, if needed, probably 80.
Welcome Tour, around 10.
DK Bonanza. Not sure yet how much it costs, 70?
Upgrade packs for Switch 2 editions (probably all 4 of the ones announced, so that's another what, 40?)
Now add tax to everything.
Let's say about 940.
I'm in Canada, so tax is higher and we're getting higher prices here now so that amounts to around 1350 CAD, for that console and a few games and some extras.
You see, it's not just about the Welcome Tour.
Now calculate how much money Nintendo will be making if they get 100 million sales in the first year (since many will want it), minus costs and such. Just try. Per family, on the above alone, they'll be making around 60 billion.
They are very greedy. Are they helping the poor with that money? Investing in help for others? Why such high prices?
The only way we can fight this as people is by not buying until they reduce their prices.
What about Witcher 3? 200 hours+ of content, yet the price was less (and one of the best games ever made and production that cost a lot more than Mario Kart).
Ubisoft's games, they go up to 160 CAD, but with regular sales, down to around 30-40 CAD, and have 100 hours of content. The Crew 2, The Crew Motorfest (stunning graphics with fun gameplay).
We can go on and on.
Lots of companies hire real voice actors for many lines (Final Fantasy XV and others), motion capture (think Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and others), real studios working on this, not just computers, etc., yet prices are very fair and with sales, very low.
Nintendo's games, they remain high priced for cartoon effects with hardly any of the above really expensive aspects.
No, their game at 65, 70, 80 USD is not fair nor is it fine. The problem is their culture and what they think is okay over there because of the hard working ethic versus recompense. I understand that but they cannot apply it to this, it's not a necessity, and other companies work just as hard.
@Dang_69 I do like the feeling of the paddles but they got in my way as I couldn't grip it that well. I had to sell the Elite 2, buggy controller (tried 3 of them). I still believe we need more buttons on controllers so the addition of rear buttons on official controllers are great and hope this trend continues. Hopefully it does more than just remapping current buttons, especially for games that require more keys.
But I am really sad about it not having full triggers. This means racing games and such still won't be good on the Switch 2. They also could have added new games based on triggers in Mario Party and other games, where holding half would let us do certain things, etc. The triggers on the Pro Controller feel good and are satisfying, but I want full triggers or else I can't take it seriously for racing/car games.
I absolutely LOVE back buttons, especially buttons like those. I'm definitely getting one of these Pro controllers (I am wondering what the price will be though). Nintendo designed this the correct way, so they won't get in the way.
I have the GameSir G7 HE on my Xbox and I love it. Same rear button style.
I dislike using the normal Xbox controllers now. Not only are all buttons and triggers (and shape) better on the GameSir, the back buttons REALLY help a lot. I assign them usually for left and right stick clicks and I don't have to click those sticks anymore.
They do not get in the way at all.
Don't believe those that keep "hitting" them. They may be aggressive folks that don't hold controllers normally and are rough with them. I never accidentally hit them.
Been waiting for this! I keep hoping for it. It's such a replayable Zelda game. Just hope they get rid or tone down that bloom! I have only played the Wind Waker GameCube version, many times, but seen videos of the Wii U version.
I'm shocked they kept them thin like that, rather than copy the Legion Go and design them to have a similar shape. They're actually happy they kept the Switch 2 thin, as they said. What a mistake. Having it a bit thicker means more comfortable grip, better Joy-Cons, bigger battery, more powerful system, better cooling.
Wii U was comfortable to hold, Wii remotes were okay'ish though. Switch Joy-Cons are horrid to hold, Pro controller is comfortable. They never get everything right. They could have though.
I am still very happy that they added mouse mode since we can't play with a mouse and keyboard like on the Xbox and PC.
None of you noticed the same type of lag that the Switch has in DK when it was moving locations? And, the shadows not being fully visible at about 10 meters away from the cliff until DK got near to about 5 meters away? And the jagged edges, lack of AA in certain parts. This looks a lot like Switch 1 but with improved graphics. I hope they fix that but I doubt it.
Game does look fun though.
About prices, if Nintendo wants to increase prices for USA, okay, due to the tariff, but why increase for us who are in Canada or elsewhere?
Joy-Cons constantly got disconnected and we were 2 meters away. Pathetic machine in all aspects! We were all frustrated with it.
Xbox controllers (Series X) would go over 9 meters and still work.
@splinters I paid 560 CAD for the Xbox Series X, 3 years ago, second hand. Brand new was just a few dollars more, but I would have had to add tax. (Side note, I really want to play Astro Bot and those games!)
Switch 2 is 630 + tax CAD.
I'll leave the good games for my laptop (RTX 4080) and Xbox and stick to Nintendo games for the Switch 2, as usual, but I'm still very disappointed with the pricing. So much that I am second guessing now if I want to buy it. I don't want to support them like that.
@Misima Same thoughts except I did not really like the Switch lol. Very weak, pathetic machine. Switch 2 is how the Switch 1 should have been, considering the Wii U was awesome with a lot more features. Anyways, I "registered" for the Switch 2 but then realised how expensive everything will be so I won't be buying it for a few years.
I can afford it but I want to send a message (and I really hope others too) that we won't accept such high prices for everything. That bundle is pathetic, it should have included the pro controller and the Welcome Tour game as well as Mario Kart.
Expensive in Canada. 629.99 base model. No camera, no pro controller, no Welcome Tour game included. I wonder what goes on in their head. Xbox Series X costs less. I registered interest but I doubt I'll buy it. I don't want to support such practice so I'll wait for prices to go down or buy second hand like I did with Switch 1 (bought at 220 CAD years ago and came with a pro controller and a case).
Now imagine this game running at 4k 60 FPS on the Xbox with high quality graphics, which is what it deserves, or even at 2K res. Hopefully the Switch 2 will be able to support something better than just 1080p 30fps at low graphics.
You know, I have uBlock Origin disabled on your site here, but that YouTube video started with 2 ads the moment I clicked play, then it allowed me to skip, then after 2 seconds, I clicked elsewhere to playback at another point, and another ad appeared. I felt like turning back on uBlock Origin here. Anyways, I opened it in YouTube after this.
@Vriess Aye, can't stand browsing the Nintendo eShop. Xbox Series store is so fast. I hardly touch the Switch due to how slow it is, but what amazes me, in a very negative way, is how Nintendo did not care to update the Switch since a long time ago and kept it slow. They could have sped up the eShop and other apps like the Nintendo online, but no, they kept it slow, not sure why. Since it's based on a mobile chip, well we know that these can run faster than that to display simple content (not referring to games).
@8bit-Man Wii U really was their best console, just too slow and graphics outdated as usual. GameCube was very unique too. Loved the shape and loved those mini CDs.
@zander_dale - I used to as well but when they launched the Switch, I was very disappointed. The Wii U was amazing and they instead downgraded by removing features. They should have kept most of its features (stylus, camera, comfortable to hold, better sound, Wii remotes, IR) and optimise them such as with removable comfortable Joy-Cons just like the Legion Go has, etc. There's nothing joyful about the Switch Joy-Cons. Pro Controller is great though missing triggers.
They're waiting for the RTX 5080 mobile to launch so that they can use a GTX 1060 equivalent graphics card for their new underpowered, weak, and slow machine (and rarely update it with useful features) and make us all believe they're doing the right thing by relaunching the same games with slightly better anti-aliasing.
@Fulgor_Astral Same, very disappointed. Hardly any innovations and they're extremely delayed (by 4 years). What a horrid underpowered machine the Switch is. I hardly use it. It's really only for Nintendo games and even then, it is underpowered and slow.
Edit: To be clear, the only innovations required are because they downgraded this from the Wii U by removing lots of hardware features. The only new thing are the removable Joy-Cons, the rest is rubbish on the Switch. Wii U was far superior in tech. They need to restore those features and make it a powerful machine, equal to the Legion Go or better (as that's still weak).
My favorite in the series is FF 15. I did enjoy FF 13, 6, 8, Tactics, but 15 takes the lead. I would love to play FF 14 but not into the pay monthly thing. Can't wait to try this one. Ya'll should try Marsupilami - Hoobadventure. I played it on the Xbox, very fun game. Similar graphics. Last levels are quite challenging. Soundtrack was superb. I honestly enjoyed it a bit more than Mario Wonder in some parts.
Yooka-Laylee was great, both 1 and 2. Love those games, especially 1.
@kurtasbestos He'll grow out of it, as long as you keep teaching him that it's okay to lose and to display proper losing behaviour in front of him (such as, oh look I lost, oh well, I learned a few things and I'll do better next time, I won't take it seriously, etc.).
@rjejr I was expecting 30-45 hours, not 20. Disappointing. Also, I wish they really worked on trees to add some variety. The environments don't look that good.
@tourjeff They should have done that in 2020, using the same cartridge system of course, and again now in 2024, using same cartridge system as well so that we can play the same games.
I avoid all non-Nintendo/exclusive games and buy them on Xbox and PC. Probably many others do this. They don't seem to care. I'm also avoiding buying quite a few Nintendo games as well until the successor arrives. I don't want to play them in this current sad state. TOTK deserves much nicer graphics and 60 FPS (and a better console).
The Switch is an incredibly pathetic, slow/weak machine. It was only okay in 2017 for 2 years at most.
@JayJ - It's unfortunate that it's all about who is promoting you and how visible is that promotion worldwide. How big of a deal they make for big-name games (like what we see with many games, yet they turn out average). It's all about marketing.
I would love to see Steam, GOG, Epic Games, and others promoting those smaller studios on a weekly basis. Not just one time but numerous times.
@FarTulip What was disastrous? I honestly don't understand anyone that doesn't like the first Yooka-Laylee. It was such a fun game. Sure, it needs some polishing for movement and such but it was a very fun game. I preferred it over the second, which I also loved.
Hoping this goes out for the Xbox. I own both on Steam but wanted them on the Xbox as well, so now I'll wait for this release.
Played this game 2 years ago on Xbox and Game Pass. Still occasionally play it now. Superb game! They keep updating it with new content and changes.
I also have it on my laptop (mouse + keyboard, much easier) but it would have been awesome if the Xbox controller had gyro =@.. It's frustrating to say the least. Switch and PlayStation controllers are doing the right thing.

Re: Review: Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed (Switch) - A Lick Of Paint Works Wonders
@PepperMintRex I tried the demo on the Xbox Series X and it was great. Excited for this, on the Xbox of course and not on the weak and slow Switch.
Re: Penny's Big Breakaway Dev Downsizes Due To "Volatile Market Conditions"
@JayJ - It's unfortunate that it's all about who is promoting you and how visible is that promotion worldwide. How big of a deal they make for big-name games (like what we see with many games, yet they turn out average). It's all about marketing.
I would love to see Steam, GOG, Epic Games, and others promoting those smaller studios on a weekly basis. Not just one time but numerous times.
Re: Yooka-Replaylee Art Team Highlight Laylee's New Fluffiness In Remaster
@FarTulip What was disastrous?
Re: Random: Donkey Kong Country 3 Fan Creates Incredible Epoxy Resin Statue
@RareFan - All 3 SNES Donkey Kong games are awesome to play. No idea what people have against this. Love the overworld too.
Re: Xbox's Grounded Adds Gyro Aiming On Switch In Latest Update
Played this game 2 years ago on Xbox and Game Pass. Still occasionally play it now. Superb game! They keep updating it with new content and changes.
I also have it on my laptop (mouse + keyboard, much easier) but it would have been awesome if the Xbox controller had gyro =@.. It's frustrating to say the least. Switch and PlayStation controllers are doing the right thing.
Re: Kiki's Delivery Service Meets Wind Waker In 'Mika And The Witch's Mountain'
@Not_Soos Same. A Hat In Time is one of the best platformers I've played.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch
Now we need Fishing Resort from the Wii . They already launched Go Vacation, which I bought.
