@8bit-Man Wii U really was their best console, just too slow and graphics outdated as usual. GameCube was very unique too. Loved the shape and loved those mini CDs.
@zander_dale - I used to as well but when they launched the Switch, I was very disappointed. The Wii U was amazing and they instead downgraded by removing features. They should have kept most of its features (stylus, camera, comfortable to hold, better sound, Wii remotes, IR) and optimise them such as with removable comfortable Joy-Cons just like the Legion Go has, etc. There's nothing joyful about the Switch Joy-Cons. Pro Controller is great though missing triggers.
They're waiting for the RTX 5080 mobile to launch so that they can use a GTX 1060 equivalent graphics card for their new underpowered, weak, and slow machine (and rarely update it with useful features) and make us all believe they're doing the right thing by relaunching the same games with slightly better anti-aliasing.
@Fulgor_Astral Same, very disappointed. Hardly any innovations and they're extremely delayed (by 4 years). What a horrid underpowered machine the Switch is. I hardly use it. It's really only for Nintendo games and even then, it is underpowered and slow.
Edit: To be clear, the only innovations required are because they downgraded this from the Wii U by removing lots of hardware features. The only new thing are the removable Joy-Cons, the rest is rubbish on the Switch. Wii U was far superior in tech. They need to restore those features and make it a powerful machine, equal to the Legion Go or better (as that's still weak).
My favorite in the series is FF 15. I did enjoy FF 13, 6, 8, Tactics, but 15 takes the lead. I would love to play FF 14 but not into the pay monthly thing. They should probably remake all from FF to FF 11 so that they can all shine equally as a lot of them are vastly different games and styles. But, I like that. I like having choices and differences.
@kingbk Ubisoft is greedy, despite their constant discounts. You buy an ultimate version of a game and they remove it a year later and republish it under another name, such as complete edition. But those who bought ultimate do not get upgraded to the compete and don't get the new year passes. They've done that to me and to thousands of others, and to multiple games.
They also keep adding weird agendas in their games.
Lots of in app purchases.
Apart from that, I enjoy their games but they are not too be trusted. It's their own leaders' faults.
Still can't believe we can't buy Switch physical games on their website using funds that we have added by buying physical gift cards. They limit it only to digital games. Same with vouchers, only can be used on digital games.
Can't wait to try this one. Ya'll should try Marsupilami - Hoobadventure. I played it on the Xbox, very fun game. Similar graphics. Last levels are quite challenging. Soundtrack was superb. I honestly enjoyed it a bit more than Mario Wonder in some parts.
Yooka-Laylee was great, both 1 and 2. Love those games, especially 1.
@kurtasbestos He'll grow out of it, as long as you keep teaching him that it's okay to lose and to display proper losing behaviour in front of him (such as, oh look I lost, oh well, I learned a few things and I'll do better next time, I won't take it seriously, etc.).
@rjejr I was expecting 30-45 hours, not 20. Disappointing. Also, I wish they really worked on trees to add some variety. The environments don't look that good.
@tourjeff They should have done that in 2020, using the same cartridge system of course, and again now in 2024, using same cartridge system as well so that we can play the same games.
I avoid all non-Nintendo/exclusive games and buy them on Xbox and PC. Probably many others do this. They don't seem to care. I'm also avoiding buying quite a few Nintendo games as well until the successor arrives. I don't want to play them in this current sad state. TOTK deserves much nicer graphics and 60 FPS (and a better console).
The Switch is an incredibly pathetic, slow/weak machine. It was only okay in 2017 for 2 years at most.
@JayJ - It's unfortunate that it's all about who is promoting you and how visible is that promotion worldwide. How big of a deal they make for big-name games (like what we see with many games, yet they turn out average). It's all about marketing.
I would love to see Steam, GOG, Epic Games, and others promoting those smaller studios on a weekly basis. Not just one time but numerous times.
@FarTulip What was disastrous? I honestly don't understand anyone that doesn't like the first Yooka-Laylee. It was such a fun game. Sure, it needs some polishing for movement and such but it was a very fun game. I preferred it over the second, which I also loved.
Hoping this goes out for the Xbox. I own both on Steam but wanted them on the Xbox as well, so now I'll wait for this release.
Played this game 2 years ago on Xbox and Game Pass. Still occasionally play it now. Superb game! They keep updating it with new content and changes.
I also have it on my laptop (mouse + keyboard, much easier) but it would have been awesome if the Xbox controller had gyro =@.. It's frustrating to say the least. Switch and PlayStation controllers are doing the right thing.
@-wc- Played quite a lot of Wonder, nearing end game. Also not a fan of the presentation. The world map is horrible and very confusing. Sometimes it feels and looks like a mobile game. Can't believe they launched that.
It's a good game but not as good as New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. NSMBUD (lol) is more challenging, funner, doesn't need badges, has more default movements, and you can pick up, throw, and jump on other co-op characters. Funny and fun game.
About Princess Peach Showtime, I bought the physical version, we'll see how it goes. Demo was fun though.
@Serpenterror I hope they don't stop making consoles. Love the Series X! I hope they make more and use better hardware since they intend on sticking with 4K.
@LG555 But, with enhanced graphics. I truly hope they do that for nearly all games in the past 4 years. Especially those at 30 FPS with low res and low graphics. Hopefully they take those, and somehow unlock them (by enhancing them) for the upcoming console.
All the courses were great, new characters, etc., but quite shocking that they didn't add battle courses. The ones on there aren't the best. I was actually anticipating a surprise of a few battle courses. Too bad .
@xenobladexfan they need to release it this year but they won't.
I only buy Nintendo games on it now and even then, I am careful now and stopping that too until the next machine. This one is so slow and weak. I made a few mistakes last year until I got a series x. Had to rebuy some games there. Now I only buy there or on my laptop (RTX 4080).
Played it on Xbox. Great little game. Took about 9 hours and a half to 100%. Jumping and controlling the character are great. Dashing needs work but it works. Every few levels, there is something that appears or happens so there are side quests and challenges to do with some secrets to find.
Levels are fine. Need some more details with some improved graphics here and there. Levels could be bigger too.
Controls are fine and you can zoom in and out, zoom to shoulder view, reset camera, run by holding the roll button, etc.
@Cheez But, I really wanted the Wii Music, Wii Party U (and Wii Party), etc., games back! Some are Wii and some Wii U. there are many of those great ones.
We also need Konami or whoever it is to port Fishing Resort.
@Not_Soos Same. If it's not backward compatible, I won't rebuy any older game anymore if they relaunch. I am holding off on Pikmin 4 and Tears of the Kingdom for now until they launch the next machine as I don't want those games at 30 fps. Makes no sense in 2023 (even in 2018 it made no sense). I buy everything on my laptop (4080) and Xbox series X, which is a way better machine from hardware to software/UI.
Nintendo lost my sales many times in the past many years because of the weak machine, not that they care since many keep buying, unfortunately. Why play the same game found elsewhere at 30 fps and low res? I'm referring to non exclusives of course.
I only buy Nintendo only games on Switch. But, I stopped a few months ago to see if their new one will be backward compatible. Xbox and PlayStation have done so.
And their controllers aren't that great. The pro lacks triggers but it's not a bad controller and the Joy-Cons have bad connectivity and are totally uncomfortable. Xbox controllers are a bit loud but connect almost instantly with no issues and have triggers. PS4/5 controllers but with Xbox layout would be the best.
@RetroGames - Haven't seen the movie yet as we expect to buy the one with bonus content, especially so that my children can enjoy it. I am happy to hear that horrid agenda isn't really part of it, though I did notice the bonus content title and wondered why only her (she's clearly not the most important role)? Is that Nintendo's decision? It's incredibly rare to watch any other movie lately without agendas so we've been skipping many movies, and actually stopped watching many of them midway due to the number of blatant agendas in there. It's almost time to completely stop watching secular movies. They are just too at it.
I did hear that Nintendo did a great job with this though so that's a positive.
@JohnnyMind - Greediness: charging the same amount for a game that started on the Wii and has had multiple re-releases. They're the only company that charges 79.99 CAD after 5 years, and their sales are only a few dollars off. I'm happy to pay for them on sale because most of their games are replayable, but I would have much preferred paying a lot less, especially for games that have been re-released.
I'm well aware of the Wii working on Wii U. GameCube on the Wii. But that's where it ends, only 2 consoles.
Seriously, don't fight against me. I'm sure we all agree here we want to see Nintendo supporting games on consoles 18 years from now, like Xbox does. There are so many Wii games I wanted to be able to play on the Switch. Fishing Resort, all the Mii games like Wii Party, Wii Music, Wii Play, Wii Sports/Resort, MySims series, Mario Party series, etc., and would have liked quite a few from GameCube also.
I'm sure the next "Switch" will have backwards compatibility but for how long.. so we'll see. Again, we all want to see them supporting it for nearly forever. What's more pathetic is their graphics capability. Not much has changed since the GameCube.
Hopefully they make it 2k - QHD minimum, with a graphics card equal to at least an Xbox Series S. They'll probably stick with that machine for 4-8 years so they can't cheapen out. It will still be out of date when and if they launch it next year, but at least it will be powerful enough for their games and many others.
The biggest issue is what will they do with all the low FPS-games they gave us in the past 5 years? Some Kirby games, Zelda, etc. I truly hope they have a solution where the graphics will be improved by a lot and FPS raised. I'm hoping they just need to enable those in the code via an update and not have to redo games and engines and so on.
@Banksie OLED hurts my eyes more than LCD. I don't believe it's safe for viewing long term. No one seems to care and it's strange.
@Bloodmetal @awaltzforvenus - Same. I think I'd give up on Nintendo, or at least try to, if they don't support the Switch's games. Now that I have an Xbox Series X, it is just a way better console than the Switch. I can even play many original Xbox and Xbox 360 games. I only have a Switch for exclusive Switch games. As great as they are, it would be a huge insult on all of us who spent so much money on their games.
I don't want to keep multiple consoles just to play previous games. We still have a Wii U for that. Nintendo has to stop this.
Making the same game multiple times, at the same high price, and acting like they can't make it backward compatible when PS5 and Xbox have done so for years now is a deception.. and it shows how greedy they are.
I really like cartridges and hope they stick with them though, and perhaps add 2 slots. That would let us play Switch games.
I am deeply disappointed that Nintendo did not upgrade the graphics card in 2019 and in 2021. Strange decisions they take.
Graphics are somewhat nicer on PC and much smoother.
I only tried the demo for a few hours and loved it! I will be buying all the bundle and the new game soon (I buy only on sale) on Steam. The score here is unfair and doesn't reflect the game. Comments here confirm that.
