@spiderman0616 To be honest, all they had to do was upgrade the Wii U. Keep backward compatibility with all Wii and Wii U games. Improve graphics and CPU to be much better than the Switch was, but they made a mess with the Switch. They made it too weak. Wii/Wii U games were superb and fun and motion was way better (sound quality as well!). Wii U is also way more comfortable than the rubbish Switch 1.
I'm excited to hold the Switch 2 to see if it improved, but it's still missing nice features from the Wii U (stylus, camera, IR blaster (I miss that in phones and the Wii U!), etc.).
@MamaSymphonia One of my favorite water in games lol is in Mario Sunshine. It was known as having great water and up to this day, I still love it, even though I know others have beaten it since that time.
I just love Mario Sunshine and can replay it many times. Here's hoping they remaster Mario Sunshine for the Switch 2 (along with past Mario games).
@Wraggadam1 I understand your point, especially when 30 FPS is well made. But, after a few minutes of 60+ FPS and I can't go back, unless it's for cutscenes/movies.
While we're on this topic, on my laptop, for example, since I have a RTX 4080, I can't ever see myself playing below 70 FPS (though 60 is fine, but it's just that my screen is at 240hz so it's good to take advantage of it).
However, on my Series X, on a TV, 60 FPS is more than enough. Must be the way TVs are vs monitors.
Something about the graphics and camera position makes me feel like it'll have limited gameplay, in terms of movement (where we can go) and other aspects.
@sanderev This is the first time I actually want one at launch and that's only due to the fact that I can't stand the Switch 1 and was waiting for a more powerful one. I was buying games for it, expecting to play them in the future when Switch 2 launches. If I can't grab one this week, I'll wait, no rush since they need to keep launching more Switch 2 updates for other older games (I really hope, of course).
@Coxula I agree with most but not the display. I'm happy it's an LCD one, better on our eyes. It will be a really good one.
The UI (and lack of features) is a shame though. They don't care and think it's fine.
@Max_the_German There's so much they could have done but refused to. No idea why. Switch 1 felt so abandoned yet they kept launching games for it. It was so empty of features and slow. I don't understand their point.
@SearchingS Nintendo sports games (and third party ones) from the Wii, Wii U, and older consoles were really amazing. The Wii had many golf games. And, the Wii Fishing Resort game was spectacular.
On the Switch, the only notable ones are the Mario Tennis and Mario Golf games, which are well done with a good amount of features and gameplay elements.
I don't understand why they gave up on these amazing series! They were so fun and well done. We got 3 Mario Party games on the Switch 1 and it gets a bit boring and repetitive.
I am still happy and excited for this title but hope they add more gameplay and features to it, and of course, the Switch 2 edition as I'd never buy anything anymore for the Switch 1. Gave up long ago on that sad console.
Edit: This is coming out for the PS5, Switch, and PC. Too bad not on Xbox =(.
@Antraxx777 I get it. I do. That's why I am excited for the Switch 2. But, I just couldn't enjoy the Switch 1 at all. I do play it undocked once every few months but the screen is too small, performance is slow and blurry, and it's sooo uncomfortable (I can't stand those Joy-Cons, what a mistake). The Wii U was way more comfortable. I just don't like the Switch (I do like the exclusive games).
I'm hoping S2 will be more comfortable to hold and use.
My daughter has the same remarks and only plays on Xbox Series X now (when we allow her), especially since it's very social. She tried to get into the Switch but couldn't and didn't care about portability (since we don't play games when we're out of the house).
@rjejr That's not correct about 2k nor 1080p based on the research I just did. 2k is not 1080p at all (when referring to consoles, monitors, and such, not cinema). But, let's just say it's 1440p compatible, as you said, which is pretty much 2k. 2560 wide.
My laptop, on the other hand, has a 2560 x 1600 18" display.
If the Switch 2 is almost equal to a Series S, I suppose it's okay since it's Nintendo, and yeah it is delayed by 5 years. They really should have went for something stronger when docked though. It was easy to make. My laptop does it (RTX 4080). Lots of machines do it.
But Nintendo is once again only thinking about their own exclusive games and I wish game companies would call them out. That's why they kept saying that the Switch 1 was okay (no it was never okay, not even at launch). It's only okay for their low res games that look like they're from 2010 and some from 2004 (Pokemon).
@Banjo- Same about Nintendo's games. I love them. Grew up with an NES and SNES.
My feelings too about the Xbox Series X. Not so much the controller haha. They get old and break quickly (though mine are okay but not as they were 2 years ago). I use a GameSir G7 HE, awesome controller with rear buttons, profiles, hall effect sticks and triggers, mouse-like ABXY buttons (possibly others too).
@pikachupikachup maybe one day. Maybe for PS6. I'd love to play Astro Bot. Though it needs quick resume like on Xbox. I really got used to that.
Xbox has backward compatibility all the way back to original Xbox games. Not all but many.
@NotASockPuppet They really have to stop that. It's not attractive and I don't feel like playing games like that. Older games had a charm, not these. But, I would still try this as it seems okay and reminds me of Yoku's Island Express, which was amazing.
Really glad to hear that the Series X and its successor are still being considered and developed at full pace as I really enjoy the Series X. Best console I've ever had. Lots of features and the UI and experience are superb compared to the Switch (which is horrid, empty, and feels abandoned).
I think people who only have a Switch and downplay the Xbox have no idea what they're missing out on. Switch is only for Nintendo exclusive games, nothing else. It's a really poor machine. Switch 2 will be much better but the UI and feeling of emptiness remain, though the mouse feature of the Joy-Cons 2 will be really helpful.
Try a Series X for a few days and see the difference. You'll also love Quick Resume. No other console has it.
@Res462 If you read well, you'll notice that I was replying to someone first who was talking about Xbox the console (he mentioned brand but then spoke about the console as you can see). This is about the console, not the brand. That's why you were talking about Xbox, because him and I were talking about the Xbox console.
Anyways, looking forward to this game and as I said, it would have been great to see it on the Xbox (console).
@Res462 You said every Xbox game has come to PC. I am replying to that part. I don't understand your reply.
Xbox game means games on Xbox, not Microsoft/Xbox brand.
@Serpenterror I don't understand comments like that. I love the Xbox Series X, way more than the Switch, which I rarely use. I use it daily and it's great for so many things, including apps. I buy games on it the most, and on my laptop the rest (RTX 4080), such as games that require a mouse and keyboard. I sure hope they continue with future Xbox's. I mean, especially since they are regularly updating it (monthly) with new features, redesigns, etc.
The Switch, on the other hand, looks like an abandoned machine, even since 2020. The S2 will probably feel like that soon too due to how basic the UI is. Xbox is always updating, improving, adding new things.
I am excited for the Switch 2 and can't wait since I have many games that I haven't touched due to how poor the S1 is.
Very grateful for the fair price. I never would buy a Switch 1 version, or even play this on the Switch 2 (most likely Xbox, unless S2 version runs the same as Xbox and also depends on which has the cheaper price), but I am very happy to see FAIR price upgrades (if they want to charge for this (makes no sense since it's a new game and it's already developed and ready!)).
Nintendo has such a "we need to keep everything a surprise" type of attitude and I honestly find it pathetic. We do that as parents with our kids (up to a certain limit), and my parents did it with me but I got annoyed with it as I grew up. We're grownups and can't stand Nintendo's attitude compared to others.
Notice how they act, we'll show a little teaser, call it a success, and then we make everyone wait. Then, we act like we're the big brother, bully the small ones and make them wait even longer for inferior products. They really are pathetic.
@timp29 Same. I tried a few for Switch 1, Joy-Cons (since they're so uncomfortable), then returned them, gave up, and stuck with the official ones. Makes no sense to go for inferior products. Those third party companies need to learn to add ALL the features and if they're not allowed, then to mention so.
Xbox is easier to deal with since it lacks motion and the third party end up adding more features than the cheap official Xbox controllers. But, they rarely do wireless and if they do, they don't connect as well and often disconnect. I stuck with a wired GameSir G7 HE on the Xbox and it's superb.
Don't forget that Xbox/PS5 both support NVMe SSDs so everything together makes them still about 5 to 8 times more powerful than the Switch 2 (I could be wrong), and they're both getting ready for their next (hopefully) even stronger consoles.
@roy130390 It's honestly sad that we still have to ask this question. We've asked this for a long time on the Switch 1 and all hoped we wouldn't have to ask this on Switch 2. =(...
I don't need to ask this on my PC or Xbox Series X (but to be honest, sometimes on Xbox just to see if it's 4k 30 or 60 FPS).
I have Pikmin 4, physical, but haven't played it yet. Waiting for Switch 2 (for many other games as well). Would love to see a proper update for Pokemon Scarlet/Violet too, as what they gave us (graphic-wise) is really really bad. They owe us a free update for that.
@Taro I don't think I see any difference so far apart from colours (which shocks me since I was expecting a much better design, similar to Xbox). I also want them to go back to a fun layout (and music) like the Wii U. Switch is a very boring machine.
@Michael0916 I'm replying to someone else and I know what I'm talking about. There are games that we play co-op here and they force us to use Joy-Cons. Then, if you restart the game or put the Switch to sleep and turn it back on, it forces you to switch the Joy-Con to vertical mode, yes vertical and not horizontal, which makes it hard to navigate on the Home area. Why vertical? What is wrong with them? It should be horizontal by default. We were playing with 1 Joy-Con only each, not 2.
Then, you want to play something else, you want to use the Pro controller and it's not near since we just used the Joy-Cons, so up I go, and I change controllers. Go back to controllers area to re-order them.
Then, another game, and it wants Joy-Cons only, not a mix of both, nope, silly Nintendo (yes, a Nintendo published game). Again, switch.
You'd think it would be easy to switch but no. You have to awkwardly go to the controllers area and re-order the controllers (which has to be done many times).
Playing on the Switch is time-consuming and annoying. It's so slow as well with low quality graphics, which makes everything worse.
I do appreciate having the ability to re-order the controllers, but Nintendo wants it done so many times it's annoying. It can't remember anything.
@wuntyme8 Same - can't stand switching to Joy-Cons for anything. The Switch is the most annoying machine. Its name reveals all, you keep switching just to play. I just stopped playing on it.
I prefer the Wii but we also had to sometimes flip the controller and remove the nunchuck. Seems like after the GameCube, they couldn't decide on a consistent controller.
That's great, happy they added this. Stop complaining about a nice feature folks! Ya'll are so negative. I'm happy they added a feature since the Switch 1 removed so many.
I think they live in a secluded area where no one else resides. They actually think adding a stronger graphics card and CPU is innovative. They are sooo lost. Wii and Wii U were innovative. Switch was hardly and in fact it was a regression. It lost a lot of features and charm. I'm from the 80s, so I've used the NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, Switch 1.
"We believe that games such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza offer new ways to play that were not possible on the Nintendo Switch."
For some reason, that sentence frustrates me.
On my Xbox, I play bigger racing games than MKW with higher end graphics and those games were available before the Series X. I don't understand their comment. I think they actually mean that thanks to NVIDIA's DLSS, they're able to cheapen out on a proper graphics card in the dock and give the illusion of higher FPS.
Comments like that show how ignorant they appear. They mean that the Switch was very poor in gfx and CPU and that it was a huge mistake? So basically, all it needed was a refresh in 2020 to add a stronger gfx/CPU? Oh yes, those existed back then. But, Nintendo lives in a secluded area so they weren't aware. I really feel like they're brainwashed.
They have to stop trying to justify this.
Switch 2 is okay (apart from game pricing) and much better than Switch 1 but it's just really delayed. Switch 1 was a mistake in my eyes. They should have expanded on the Wii U and made it more powerful and stronger. There was nothing wrong with the Wii U apart from how slow it was and its weird hard drive limits. 2 easy to fix situations had they actually put their heads together.
They need to launch a Switch 2 Pro in the next 3 years and give us an actual graphics card in there so that we would feel compelled to buy higher end games on it. They're really delayed already. Anyways, their UI is very limited so it'll never replace my laptop and Xbox Series X at this point. It really feels like they just want to stick with exclusives. That's how I see Nintendo machines.
But, like someone else said, I didn't want multiple consoles and controllers, so I was hoping they would really put their all into this but alas, they did not.
@Glasso That is really, really demotivating and sad =(.. It's still way better than Switch 1, but they definitely could have added a 4070 when docked. My laptop does it (4080), so could a dock. They could underclock it a little bit only, and it would be way better than the weak card they're bringing again. They never learn.
@Paddle1 - I know, but they should have built on that. Wii U was very slow with a poor graphics card, but great in everything else. Switch is only fast in its home and settings and apps management. Everything else is slow. Nintendo Online, eShop come to mind.
@jetsetradion I find it tricky to find what I want on the Switch, if it's not on the home page. I do make use of the folders but getting there feels like you're navigating settings.
Xbox has also a few games showing on the home, like the Switch, except you see them all. After you scroll down a bit on the Xbox home, then it gets very busy but you can ignore all of that as it's mostly promotions, new games, or what you have set as special content areas (up to 10). App page is organized with lots of filters and such.
Switch is very a limited device, very sluggish, that feels like a beta or an abandoned system.
I hardly touch the Switch, it's a really bad device for me. Switch 2 is better in every way but the UI is the same, really disappointed by that.
I'm still utterly shocked that they're still using the same UI with no updates, no additions, no changes (apart from supporting its new features). I was sincerely hoping they'd improve it after seeing Xbox and PS5's extremely superior UI and functionality, but nope. They really do not care. I don't see how that UI is positive for them. At least give us 2 rows of games on the homepage, some folders, do something to change it up. Is that it for the next 8 years? Wii U was way better.
Xbox store is superb on the Series X. So fast, smooth, lots of details, lots of info, reviews, etc.
I cannot handle anything related to the slow Switch apart from its home menu and loading a game every once in a while (even then it's slow). That eShop is horrible.
Games should be priced based on how many hours of gameplay and the quality of your studio and production, etc.
Nintendo games aren't all high quality and don't have many hours of gameplay, apart from Zelda (and of course Xenoblade but that's not a pure Nintendo game). And, they hardly receive any updates. It's not okay to charge a lot. Some are high quality, some are medium. Some low like Mario Strikers for the Switch (unfortunately, was looking forward to it).
Its probably fine for Mario Kart World since we're assuming they'll be updating it a lot, but this is Nintendo so no idea. I think the only game they update is Splatoon.
@kuu_nousee Not what I saw. It was extremely sharp on mine. I even played in Performance mode though both were sharp. By grainy, do you mean like actual grain as in oversharpness?

@roy130390 It's honestly sad that we still have to ask this question. We've asked this for a long time on the Switch 1 and all hoped we wouldn't have to ask this on Switch 2. =(...
I don't need to ask this on my PC or Xbox Series X (but to be honest, sometimes on Xbox just to see if it's 4k 30 or 60 FPS).
Re: Opinion: Nintendo's Forgotten The Game With The Most 'Switch 2 Edition' Potential
I have Pikmin 4, physical, but haven't played it yet. Waiting for Switch 2 (for many other games as well). Would love to see a proper update for Pokemon Scarlet/Violet too, as what they gave us (graphic-wise) is really really bad. They owe us a free update for that.
Re: PSA: You Can Use Mouse Controls On The Switch 2 HOME Menu
@Taro I don't think I see any difference so far apart from colours (which shocks me since I was expecting a much better design, similar to Xbox). I also want them to go back to a fun layout (and music) like the Wii U. Switch is a very boring machine.
Re: PSA: You Can Use Mouse Controls On The Switch 2 HOME Menu
Re: PSA: You Can Use Mouse Controls On The Switch 2 HOME Menu
@wuntyme8 Same - can't stand switching to Joy-Cons for anything. The Switch is the most annoying machine. Its name reveals all, you keep switching just to play. I just stopped playing on it.
I prefer the Wii but we also had to sometimes flip the controller and remove the nunchuck. Seems like after the GameCube, they couldn't decide on a consistent controller.
Re: PSA: You Can Use Mouse Controls On The Switch 2 HOME Menu
@Taro I am not a big fan of their home screen compared to Xbox's, but I want to know, in your opinion, what did they make worse?
Re: PSA: You Can Use Mouse Controls On The Switch 2 HOME Menu
That's great, happy they added this.
Stop complaining about a nice feature folks! Ya'll are so negative. I'm happy they added a feature since the Switch 1 removed so many.
Re: Nintendo Defends Switch 2's Perceived Lack Of Innovation
@8bit-Man As long as it maintains backwards compatibility for games. Otherwise, no thanks. I like how Xbox and PCs take care of this.
Re: Nintendo Defends Switch 2's Perceived Lack Of Innovation
Re: Feature: "We’re Very Confident" - CD Projekt Red On Delivering The Full Cyberpunk 2077 Experience On Switch 2
Re: Video: Nintendo Demonstrates How To Sync Original Joy-Con With Switch 2
@Paddle1 - I know, but they should have built on that. Wii U was very slow with a poor graphics card, but great in everything else. Switch is only fast in its home and settings and apps management. Everything else is slow. Nintendo Online, eShop come to mind.
Re: Video: Nintendo Demonstrates How To Sync Original Joy-Con With Switch 2
Re: Video: Nintendo Demonstrates How To Sync Original Joy-Con With Switch 2
I'm still utterly shocked that they're still using the same UI with no updates, no additions, no changes (apart from supporting its new features). I was sincerely hoping they'd improve it after seeing Xbox and PS5's extremely superior UI and functionality, but nope. They really do not care. I don't see how that UI is positive for them. At least give us 2 rows of games on the homepage, some folders, do something to change it up. Is that it for the next 8 years? Wii U was way better.
Re: Random: YouTuber Cracks Donkey Kong Bananza's Secret Language Before L(a)unch
@AnonyQ Yet Sonic Frontiers (for me) was the funnest and best Sonic game, even today. Can't wait for the second one.
Re: Game Devs Weigh In On Switch 2, And A "Much Better" eShop Is A Must
Xbox store is superb on the Series X. So fast, smooth, lots of details, lots of info, reviews, etc.
I cannot handle anything related to the slow Switch apart from its home menu and loading a game every once in a while (even then it's slow). That eShop is horrible.
Re: Shuhei Yoshida On Higher Switch 2 Game Prices: "It Was Going To Happen Eventually"
Re: Opinion: Switch 2 Finally Gives Star Wars Outlaws A Second Chance
@kuu_nousee Not what I saw. It was extremely sharp on mine. I even played in Performance mode though both were sharp. By grainy, do you mean like actual grain as in oversharpness?
