This also shows that the Wii U had a good thing going with the second screen being for extra features. Add to that the fact that the Wii U is still way more comfortable than the Switch 1 and 2 (yet, 2 is not comfy, spent time with it this morning and got annoyed just like with the Switch 1).
@Key19 I would suggest that yes, but without draining all the way down, perhaps around 20, and enable 90% max charge since you'd be using it primarily docked.
@Medic_alert That's good, but it still disconnects or at least slows down a lot if we're far from the router, which is very disappointing. My phone and laptop are fine from the same distance.
Anyone find the Switch 2's screen a bit too blue-ish? Not my type at all. The Switch 1 had more warmth to it. Likewise my phone and laptop. I also set those up whenever I can, including TV. But, I can't modify that on the Switch 2's screen . It's just too blue and unappealing, as if lacking contrast as well.
Looks much better and smoother. Phew. Only played a couple of hours and stopped as I was hoping they'd update this for better performance. Glad they did.
Hopefully they can now work on some texture and level of details improvements but I don't have much hope for that due to how the upcoming Pokemon looks. At least no more jagged edges.
@pikachupikachup Strange. At Costco, it was mainly older people shopping about and lots of Switch 2s for sale. I only bought it there because I thought there'd be shortage at Best Buy. Then, I went to BB and we were only about 10 to 15 in line. After that purchase, there weren't many people and mostly older ones there. So, I guess being in a smaller city is much better (and quieter too) and also I'm in Canada (a lot less population than USA). I'm sure you'll get one very soon.
Pro Controller 2 is nice and quiet. Everything is so silent, even bumping the sticks (more than PS5 controller). But it's slippery, unlike the first one, and the D-Pad is the same! Strange.
Haven't opened the S2 yet.
@pikachupikachup Oh nice. I wonder what PS has as exclusives that PC/Xbox/Switch don't have apart from Astro Bot. I also got out of gaming at one point. I went out to Costco and Best Buy today and got a Switch 2 at both places lol (and one Pro Controller). I'll be returning the Costco one since it costs a bit more as it includes a 1 year NSO expansion, which I don't need.
I wonder why Nintendo doesn't mention any details about that on the promo page. The only thing mentioned is that it has a C button for GameChat. Glad to hear it has gyro. Considering purchasing this.
@pikachupikachup Yep, I can unplug it (which I have done) and games are still in quick resume. Power outage happens (it has happened) and still in quick resume. I love it! Not sure about Series S. (I do want to try a PS5 one day, especially for Astro Bot).
I didn't enjoy the Switch since I come from PC gaming. I only got an Xbox in May, 2022 but prior to that, it was all PC, mixed in with Nintendo. To be fair, I've been using Nintendo products since I was very young, NES, SNES, GameBoy, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, but performance in other consoles/PC improved a lot in ~2012 and Nintendo didn't catch up, until tomorrow.
I then wanted to play on a large screen and relax on a couch so I tried the Series X and loved it. But, I still struggle with not having mouse+keyboard in many games, though many do support them.
Much like you, I ended up using the Switch undocked at home while others were on TV (I did play docked at first), but I just couldn't play for more than 20 minutes or so. Performance too low and screen too small. I got a Switch a bit late in Feb, 2022, and before that, we played on occasion when my brother visited, so I decided to just wait for the next Nintendo console as I figured it couldn't be that far.
The Switch 2 looks like it solves most issues (except for missing some nice Wii U features ), so I am eager to own one, hopefully tomorrow. It looks like it will be great undocked too! But, we'll see, as the UI is lacking compared to Xbox.
I have the Pro Controller. It's actually a great controller. High quality and comfortable. The new Pro Controller 2 for the Switch 2 will be even better as I love rear buttons (have them on my Xbox controller). I couldn't handle the Joy-Cons nor the grip even though I have them. I bought little adapters in 2022 to put individuals Joy-Cons inside so that they're more comfortable to hold, when separated.
@pikachupikachup - What I mean by outage is that whether you have it turned on or off, and you have games in quick resume (not playing those games), they'll still be there.
@pikachupikachup - The Switch also has that, one game stays on even after restarting the Switch. The one on the Series X lets you shut it down, sleep, or even a power outage, and the games in quick resume stay there. Not just one, but whatever it can handle. I usually have 3-6 games in quick resume, some for many days, months and even for a year.
I really want to see all consoles have that.
Happy to see Kirby's Dream Buffet and Mario 3D All Stars, but really would like Kirby's Dream Buffet to get a 60 FPS update. Something about it just feels very low quality and not responsive.
@spiderman0616 seems like you have problems accepting other people's experiences and opinions. I'm shocked you have the audacity to reply about someone else's experience. Do a quick search about OLED screens hurting eyes. My experience is real for me.
@Kiddd 4 things:
1. My laptop has one. New laptops have 5090 now. The dock can support it with the right cooling and size.
2. You can have lower wattage ones, made for smaller devices. Some laptops have 105w ones while others have 175w.
3. The dock can easily have one, which is what I am referring to, and I specifically said when docked, not the Switch 2 itself (yet). Again, lower wattage.
4. In a few years, when their next console will be as powerful as a 4080, which is possible now, you won't find my comment "funny" but when you're not knowledgeable enough about these things, it's easy to mock.
@Banjo- I saw my brother's OLED and didn't like how saturated the colors were. Way too much, it hurt my eyes. I stuck with the LCD one, pretty good, and this Switch 2 is going to be even better.
@Banjo- Agreed. I'm also wondering if those MK8 sales were due to them bundling it with the Switch.
Can't wait for Switch 2 and the Series X successor (hopefully so that we can actually play 60 FPS at max quality in many titles and no longer in performance mode - which shows that 4k was too early and they should have made it 1440p).
@kmtrain83 I'll be honest, if they can start publishing games like the Wii and Wii U games, I'll be really happy and that's all I really need. I really wanted something very powerful so that I wouldn't need other consoles but it won't happen, especially since the Series X has a superior UI, experience, and social features (and Game Pass), among other benefits (but no motion for some reason ).
So, it's okay, and you're right, this Switch 2 will be a better experience and I'm looking forward to it. Just really want to see older games renewed for this, Fishing Resort and all the Mii-compatible games on the Wii come to mind, and new Nintendo games but by going back to their roots, colorful and fun games. Family-friendly. Less corporate-feeling than the Switch 1 era.
@spiderman0616 - I want to agree. I really would have liked to see them take more advantage of the docked performance! They missed an opportunity so I'll have to stick with my laptop and Series X (less game purchases for Nintendo) for non-exclusives. It should have been equal to an RTX 4080 or 3080 at least when docked. Especially since it seems we'll be having this for so many more years and we're already at a time where graphics are more demanding than in 2020, when the Switch 2 should have launched.
@spiderman0616 Interesting, didn't know about that. My Joy-Cons never broke, but my brother's did (free replacement). Connectivity was a problem though.
However, it doesn't explain why they took so many years to launch a proper one. Anyways, it's coming this week, even though delayed and still underpowered.
@spiderman0616 To be honest, all they had to do was upgrade the Wii U. Keep backward compatibility with all Wii and Wii U games. Improve graphics and CPU to be much better than the Switch was, but they made a mess with the Switch. They made it too weak. Wii/Wii U games were superb and fun and motion was way better (sound quality as well!). Wii U is also way more comfortable than the rubbish Switch 1.
I'm excited to hold the Switch 2 to see if it improved, but it's still missing nice features from the Wii U (stylus, camera, IR blaster (I miss that in phones and the Wii U!), etc.).
@MamaSymphonia One of my favorite water in games lol is in Mario Sunshine. It was known as having great water and up to this day, I still love it, even though I know others have beaten it since that time.
I just love Mario Sunshine and can replay it many times. Here's hoping they remaster Mario Sunshine for the Switch 2 (along with past Mario games).
@Wraggadam1 I understand your point, especially when 30 FPS is well made. But, after a few minutes of 60+ FPS and I can't go back, unless it's for cutscenes/movies.
While we're on this topic, on my laptop, for example, since I have a RTX 4080, I can't ever see myself playing below 70 FPS (though 60 is fine, but it's just that my screen is at 240hz so it's good to take advantage of it).
However, on my Series X, on a TV, 60 FPS is more than enough. Must be the way TVs are vs monitors.
Something about the graphics and camera position makes me feel like it'll have limited gameplay, in terms of movement (where we can go) and other aspects.
@sanderev This is the first time I actually want one at launch and that's only due to the fact that I can't stand the Switch 1 and was waiting for a more powerful one. I was buying games for it, expecting to play them in the future when Switch 2 launches. If I can't grab one this week, I'll wait, no rush since they need to keep launching more Switch 2 updates for other older games (I really hope, of course).
@Coxula I agree with most but not the display. I'm happy it's an LCD one, better on our eyes. It will be a really good one.
The UI (and lack of features) is a shame though. They don't care and think it's fine.
@Max_the_German There's so much they could have done but refused to. No idea why. Switch 1 felt so abandoned yet they kept launching games for it. It was so empty of features and slow. I don't understand their point.
@SearchingS Nintendo sports games (and third party ones) from the Wii, Wii U, and older consoles were really amazing. The Wii had many golf games. And, the Wii Fishing Resort game was spectacular.
On the Switch, the only notable ones are the Mario Tennis and Mario Golf games, which are well done with a good amount of features and gameplay elements.
I don't understand why they gave up on these amazing series! They were so fun and well done. We got 3 Mario Party games on the Switch 1 and it gets a bit boring and repetitive.
I am still happy and excited for this title but hope they add more gameplay and features to it, and of course, the Switch 2 edition as I'd never buy anything anymore for the Switch 1. Gave up long ago on that sad console.
Edit: This is coming out for the PS5, Switch, and PC. Too bad not on Xbox =(.
@Antraxx777 I get it. I do. That's why I am excited for the Switch 2. But, I just couldn't enjoy the Switch 1 at all. I do play it undocked once every few months but the screen is too small, performance is slow and blurry, and it's sooo uncomfortable (I can't stand those Joy-Cons, what a mistake). The Wii U was way more comfortable. I just don't like the Switch (I do like the exclusive games).
I'm hoping S2 will be more comfortable to hold and use.
My daughter has the same remarks and only plays on Xbox Series X now (when we allow her), especially since it's very social. She tried to get into the Switch but couldn't and didn't care about portability (since we don't play games when we're out of the house).
@rjejr That's not correct about 2k nor 1080p based on the research I just did. 2k is not 1080p at all (when referring to consoles, monitors, and such, not cinema). But, let's just say it's 1440p compatible, as you said, which is pretty much 2k. 2560 wide.
My laptop, on the other hand, has a 2560 x 1600 18" display.
If the Switch 2 is almost equal to a Series S, I suppose it's okay since it's Nintendo, and yeah it is delayed by 5 years. They really should have went for something stronger when docked though. It was easy to make. My laptop does it (RTX 4080). Lots of machines do it.
But Nintendo is once again only thinking about their own exclusive games and I wish game companies would call them out. That's why they kept saying that the Switch 1 was okay (no it was never okay, not even at launch). It's only okay for their low res games that look like they're from 2010 and some from 2004 (Pokemon).
@Banjo- Same about Nintendo's games. I love them. Grew up with an NES and SNES.
My feelings too about the Xbox Series X. Not so much the controller haha. They get old and break quickly (though mine are okay but not as they were 2 years ago). I use a GameSir G7 HE, awesome controller with rear buttons, profiles, hall effect sticks and triggers, mouse-like ABXY buttons (possibly others too).
@pikachupikachup maybe one day. Maybe for PS6. I'd love to play Astro Bot. Though it needs quick resume like on Xbox. I really got used to that.
Xbox has backward compatibility all the way back to original Xbox games. Not all but many.
@NotASockPuppet They really have to stop that. It's not attractive and I don't feel like playing games like that. Older games had a charm, not these. But, I would still try this as it seems okay and reminds me of Yoku's Island Express, which was amazing.
Really glad to hear that the Series X and its successor are still being considered and developed at full pace as I really enjoy the Series X. Best console I've ever had. Lots of features and the UI and experience are superb compared to the Switch (which is horrid, empty, and feels abandoned).
I think people who only have a Switch and downplay the Xbox have no idea what they're missing out on. Switch is only for Nintendo exclusive games, nothing else. It's a really poor machine. Switch 2 will be much better but the UI and feeling of emptiness remain, though the mouse feature of the Joy-Cons 2 will be really helpful.
Try a Series X for a few days and see the difference. You'll also love Quick Resume. No other console has it.
@Res462 If you read well, you'll notice that I was replying to someone first who was talking about Xbox the console (he mentioned brand but then spoke about the console as you can see). This is about the console, not the brand. That's why you were talking about Xbox, because him and I were talking about the Xbox console.
Anyways, looking forward to this game and as I said, it would have been great to see it on the Xbox (console).
@Res462 You said every Xbox game has come to PC. I am replying to that part. I don't understand your reply.
Xbox game means games on Xbox, not Microsoft/Xbox brand.

But, I can't modify that on the Switch 2's screen . It's just too blue and unappealing, as if lacking contrast as well.
Re: Poll: Switch 2 Battery Reportedly Lasting Under Two Hours With Mario Kart - How Is Yours Holding Up?
New batteries need about a week to calibrate and get used to your usage, so it should improve for everyone, hopefully.
Edit: And of course, don't raise your brightness too high if you plan on playing for a while.

Re: New Videos Show How Fantasy Life i Has Been Beefed Up On Switch 2
Re: Xbox Has Reportedly Sidelined Its First-Party Handheld (For Now)
@Banjo- Same about Nintendo's games.
Re: Xbox Has Reportedly Sidelined Its First-Party Handheld (For Now)
@pikachupikachup maybe one day. Maybe for PS6. I'd love to play Astro Bot. Though it needs quick resume like on Xbox. I really got used to that.
Xbox has backward compatibility all the way back to original Xbox games. Not all but many.
Re: New Videos Show How Fantasy Life i Has Been Beefed Up On Switch 2
@rjejr I believe the Series S is at 2K res, not 1080p.
Re: New Videos Show How Fantasy Life i Has Been Beefed Up On Switch 2
@Bahamut_GR True, and Xbox version as well.
Re: 'Pinball Spire' Brings "Pinballvania" To Switch Today
@NotASockPuppet They really have to stop that. It's not attractive and I don't feel like playing games like that. Older games had a charm, not these. But, I would still try this as it seems okay and reminds me of Yoku's Island Express, which was amazing.
Re: Xbox Has Reportedly Sidelined Its First-Party Handheld (For Now)
Really glad to hear that the Series X and its successor are still being considered and developed at full pace as I really enjoy the Series X.
Re: Fast Fusion Launch Trailer Gives Us Our Best Look At Switch 2 Gameplay
@Leu10antFalcon Not because of you. I already knew that, thus why I said my comment that I wish it would come out on the Xbox. Read well. Good night.
Re: Fast Fusion Launch Trailer Gives Us Our Best Look At Switch 2 Gameplay
@Res462 If you read well, you'll notice that I was replying to someone first who was talking about Xbox the console (he mentioned brand but then spoke about the console as you can see). This is about the console, not the brand. That's why you were talking about Xbox, because him and I were talking about the Xbox console.
Anyways, looking forward to this game and as I said, it would have been great to see it on the Xbox (console).
Re: Fast Fusion Launch Trailer Gives Us Our Best Look At Switch 2 Gameplay
@Leu10antFalcon Sigh - I know that. Seems people don't read well here.
Re: Fast Fusion Launch Trailer Gives Us Our Best Look At Switch 2 Gameplay
@Res462 You said every Xbox game has come to PC. I am replying to that part. I don't understand your reply.
Xbox game means games on Xbox, not Microsoft/Xbox brand.
Re: Fast Fusion Launch Trailer Gives Us Our Best Look At Switch 2 Gameplay
@Res462 Few are console exclusive, like Skate 3 (great game) and some others.
