NEXT GEN PARIS

Assassin's Creed Unity was always envisaged as a next-gen title, and its no-show on the Wii U should perhaps come as no great surprise. However, the game's creative director Alex Amancio still has to field questions on the topic, and has given Red Bull the most detailed explanation we've seen so far:

I mean this is why we from the beginning, this was going to be a new-gen-only title, because the crowds aren’t aesthetic, they actually have impact. If we did anything to hinder that or to reduce that it would have a detrimental impact, it wouldn’t be the same experience. I don’t think that would be fair to fans, to sell the same game but with different levels of experience. Even the seamless nature of the series and the scale of the game right, we couldn't do that. We never load Paris. It wouldn't be possible, in our minds we’d be cheating fans by providing a lesser version of the same game.

Of course, that doesn't answer the question of why the Wii U isn't getting Assassin's Creed Rogue — a brand new "last gen" offering which is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 — when it received both Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. Your guess is as good as ours on that score.
