Assassin's Creed Unity was always envisaged as a next-gen title, and its no-show on the Wii U should perhaps come as no great surprise. However, the game's creative director Alex Amancio still has to field questions on the topic, and has given Red Bull the most detailed explanation we've seen so far:
I mean this is why we from the beginning, this was going to be a new-gen-only title, because the crowds aren’t aesthetic, they actually have impact. If we did anything to hinder that or to reduce that it would have a detrimental impact, it wouldn’t be the same experience. I don’t think that would be fair to fans, to sell the same game but with different levels of experience. Even the seamless nature of the series and the scale of the game right, we couldn't do that. We never load Paris. It wouldn't be possible, in our minds we’d be cheating fans by providing a lesser version of the same game.
Of course, that doesn't answer the question of why the Wii U isn't getting Assassin's Creed Rogue — a brand new "last gen" offering which is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 — when it received both Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. Your guess is as good as ours on that score.

Here we go again...
That just doesn't make sense. AC: Rogue isn't coming to the Wii U, and the other ACs are lazy ports. At least use an excuse that makes sense, lol.
See, it just wouldn't be possible. Just like not delaying the Wii U version of Watch Dogs, giving it no promotion and releasing it to die months later wouldn't have been possible. Just like not delaying Rayman Legends right before release wouldn't have been possible. Just like releasing games without missing features (like local co-op), wouldn't have been possible.
And yeah, why isn't the Wii U getting Rogue? Ubisoft makes no sense.
Free advice to Ubisoft: you don't have to explain your reasons for not putting games out that very few Wii U owners will buy. In fact please stop talking.
Ehh. Ok.
The market is not there, it is so obvious let's just move on.
This is just a dumb excuse they didn't even try to sound inconspicuous. If they refuse to "cheat" fans then shouldn't even be anymore AC games on last gen machines yet they are releasing one the same year as this. I use to love Ubisoft but they stoop too low
Referring to the Xbone and PS4 as "next gen" while the ps3 and 360 (and wii u) as last gen? Whats current gen? Also the new game doesnt look any more intensive than say, bayonetta, but then again thats just me.
also according to this http://www.gamespot.com/articles/assassins-creed-unity-runs-at-900p-30fps-on-xbox-o/1100-6422771/
even the "next gen" consoles cant handle 1080p 60fps Unity
Ubisoft currently has some stupid roulette people can spend real $ on before AssCreed Unity even comes out. You wanna talk about cheating fans....
Forget foot. Open mouth, insert searing hot iron because that's how stupid these people are.
Looks at how big Xenoblade Chronicles X world is
Yeah sure, it is the technical limitations of the Wii U not them.
Can Ubisoft not go ONE WEEK without acting so goshdarn smug? Me, I couldn't care less about Ubisoft's mediocre try-hard franchises so no big loss imo. Only interest I have in them these days come from Michael Ancel and other Ubiart titles! (Games with actual substance and artistic merit)
I don't hate Ubisoft. I enjoyed Ass Creed 1 immensely. I used to play their games ALL THE TIME like two console generations ago (Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia and Ghost Recon were my jam) ... That of course was before they willingly became the French EA
Yeah, I'm calling BS on Ubisoft. They gave us gimped ports they were proud of before. They just don't want Nintendo to be successful. Well, no worries, Ubisoft. I'm never buying your products again. Fair's fair, right?
Who even cares about NPC interaction anyway? We just want the game. They must be say Rouge has poor AI
But the Wii U IS a next-gen console by definition...
It's funny that they talk about not wanting to cheat gamers with a lesser version of the game because that seems to be what they're doing by locking both versions with the same framerate and resolution. Not that I even care about stuff like that because, as smug as it sounds, I play video games to have fun.
I guess I'll have to play Hyrule Warriors or Bayonetta 2, or Smash for Wii U, or Captain Toad, or the well-made DLC for Mario Kart 8 instead of playing a sub-par AAA "experience" this holiday.
Shut up Ubisoft. You have lost all credibility to me except the Rayman/ Child of Light team.
They had no problem cheating everyone with Watchdogs. (Didn't even bother removing the proper version from the PC build).
They've burned bridges with two fan bases, one matters and the other thinks they matter.
I didn't even read the article. It was the comments that made my day.
Some people may not like it but the Wii U IS classed as next gen. Ah stuff them- i'd rather have games like the wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8 anyway. Much more fun from what i've been reading with the last few games in this series anyway. As long as the Wii U keeps producing unique games then i'm happy. The Wii U caters to my taste and that's all that matters to me and i'm sure many others out there
@Twiglingen Bad example, Xenoblade for the Wii looks worse than a PS2 game, and the Wii and GameCube are more powerful than the PS2. So Monolift isn't good with optimization.
EDIT: Wait, was that a serious comment, or were you being sarcastic?
@unrandomsam
They were merely high quality textures and settings. Which happened to be utterly broken. They could have added them in but I suppose they just couldn't be bothered, but certainly it was PR suicide to have a tech demo look better than the real thing.
That's fine, I'm not a fan, and I don't care.
I don't wanna be that guy but people only buy a Wii U for Wii U exclusives, and if they don't they be cray cray.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't different structure between the consoles the reason for the "lesser" ports on wii u? So it would be too much work for ubi to make the game on wii u properly as it doesn't really have too much target audience. They should just say they don't want to take such an undertaking and stop saying that wii u can't handle it :L
I'm definitely tired of being annoyed by Ubisoft's BS. The excuses are infinite. They've lost my business and support. If they ever want it back, they'll really have to prove themselves worthy in my eyes.
Not just with Wii U, Ubisoft seems to have been making excuses in general as of late. The explanation on why Assassins Creed Unity has no female characters was also lame.
Only the sheeple would allow themselves to be herded by these false shepherds of gaming. After Watch Dogs for my Wii U, I'm done with Ubisoft. Don't get me wrong, I still hope for third-party support for the Wii U and I'm only buying Watch Dogs as a last-ditch effort to try to prove a market is there for them to justify continued support. No one helps by buying their games second hand. Either digital, new, or nothing at all.
#ProjectUnderscore
@Dipper723
I was actually talking about xenoblade chronicles X, you know the new one for the wii u. I was being partly sarcastic but it was directed at them not the first xenoblade.
I HATE YOU UBISOFT!!!!!! buys watch dogs on Wii U THANK YOU. BUT I STILL HATE YOU UBISOFT!!!!!!
lol They could just say that the reason for not wanting to release for Wii U is the concern for lack of sales. You know, honesty earns you respect. But whatevs
You guys still trying to convince yourselves that the U is as capable as the other "next-gens" or "new-gens" or whatever you want to call them? Face it: Nintendo done f****d up.
Forgot what game, but they decided to bring a PS4 and Xbone game to the 360. When asked why, they said, "The XBox 360 is more next-gen than the PS3, and Wii U"
BULL! The PS3 ten times more powerful than the 360, and the Wii U is slightly ahead of the PS3.
Did someone say fans? Wii U, Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft fans... ah, I think I see a hand!
@ekreig That actually happened? 3rd Parties are far from understanding "next gen"
So, Xbox 360 and ps3 get the ''downgraded'' version of the game, and the Wii U doesn't. Big deal, I hated the downgraded Wii games of last generation.
Fair enough about Unity, no doubt the Wii U would have struggled. Dodges the really relevant question though which is Why no Rogue for Wii U? Presumably it's because nobody would have bought it but an answer would be nice.
@kensredemption
Only the sheeple would allow themselves to be heeded by these false shepherds of gaming
I love how NL continually posts these articles hating on Ubisoft and manage to rile up the Nintendo fanboys/fangirls every time. The comment count on these articles is always insanely huge for what are largely insignificant stories.
F#*k Ubisoft! That's all.
They just need to shut up at this point, they are just trying to get there name out there a few times a month.
I really don't even care about this game. Making a new game every year has made the AC series get stale. Sadly, this seems to be the norm for big budget cross-platform games these days. The reason I'm drawn to the Wii U and Xbox One is because they both have enough great console exclusives that I can resist this crap.
@MrGawain
Yes, after the news that the PS4 version of AC Unity has been scaled back to 'avoid debates and stuff,' (we all know MS slipped 'em some $$$) I'd say stop talking is the best advice that could be given out to everybody at Ubisum right now. In fact, if anybody working there has a single functioning brain cell, a company wide gag order would be enforced today. Regardless, between this bs, and the bs going on with the PS4 version, there's really no reason to hope for any success for Ubiscum unless you're an Xbox fanboy. Since that isn't me, I can say I'd have no problem seeing this game fail. It won't of course, but I've cancelled my pre-order, I'll put the money saved towards a game from a company that cares about delivering quality.
I bought AC3 for the Wii U, i regret i bought it, because it was really boring :/ idc about this, but it sounds like BS
Let's see how they treated Watch Dogs, they better treat it like current gen not last gen
I don't understand these comments.
Do you folks understand the way that hardware works?
They can't get it to work because it physically can't run.
It's like asking the SNES to run Crysis.
#projectunderscore is our last chance to get Ubisoft back. If we can get as many people as possible to buy Watch_Dogs on Wii U as possible, we might have a chance. Spread the word, #projectunderscore
"Of course, that doesn't answer the question of why the Wii U isn't getting Assassin's Creed Rogue — a brand new "last gen" offering which is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 — when it received both Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. Your guess is as good as ours on that score."
Are you serious right now? Our GUESS is as good as yours? There is no guessing. The Wii U has no market for 3rd party games. It's the purgatory system for 3rd parties. Wii U owners don't buy them, and PS/XB owners wouldn't think twice to buy a Wii U to play 3rd party titles.
@Punished_Boss - "let's just move on"
Says the guy who started the forum thread 90 minutes before this posted
Ubisoft is beginning to be a lot like EA. Remember E3 2012 when EA said they were going to make games for Wii U? Yeah that's the same-thing that's happening with Ubisoft. I like UBI because of its games but as a company there a joke and a liar.
@gatorboi352 - "The Wii U has no market for 3rd party games"
Hyrule Warriors says hello
@rjejr I think 90 minutes is more than enough time to move on
Can they even cheat fans anymore then they have already? And just as the article says, this doesn't answer the fact that we didnt get Rogue either. Ubisoft stop the bullpoopoodoodoocacapoopledoople. We already know you don't support the nintendo platform anymore, no need to make lame excuses.
@gatorboi352 @SageWaterDragon
they are talking a load of crap if you ask me, still can`t say i`m a big fan anyway.
Come on Damo, I like most of your articles but that's just clickbait.
'Of course, that doesn't answer the question of why the Wii U isn't getting Assassin's Creed Rogue — a brand new "last gen" offering which is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 — when it received both Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. Your guess is as good as ours on that score.'
So, nobody at Nintendolife thinks it's because the last 2 Assassin's Creed games on Wii U sold like crap then? I defend the Wii U and complain about Ubisoft a lot myself, but even I realise the facts there.
And BS like this is why Rayman ain't playable in Sm4sh (that's the theory anyway).
@kensredemption
a dudebro failed attempt at anti-Nintendo propaganda
While it is true the game wouldn't look or run as good on Wii U compared with PS4 or Xbox One, saying that a lesser version would be "cheating fans" is a crock. I'll tell you what cheating fans would be- and that's not bringing the game at all.
Unless of course they're implying it would have been a 6-month port job with no DLC, no advertising, poor frame rate and missing online components. In which case, yes you most definitely would have been cheating fans.
Funny thing is, I actually would have bought this game on Wii U (I bought the last two on Wii U as well, both day 1). But I really don't want it on PS4 or Xbox One. Maybe I'm just growing tired of the monotonous AAA releases, or maybe I'm sick of buying games where my online component is behind a pay wall, idk. I really can't say. But the game becomes infinitely more attractive when using a second screen, at least, enough to push me over the line of desire to purchase. I might pick it up in the bargain bin down the line, we'll see.
Really Ubisoft? Bull >_>
Does Ubisoft realize they are ticking more people off with PR rather than with straight forward honesty?
Yeah, telling Wii U owners there's no market for AC on Wii U would hurt, but their transparent half-truths are hurting consumer trust more.
Maybe if they made a dedicated Wii U game that the fans would like , they could get back in people's good graces again....
Watch them not do that.
Ubisoft is already irrelevant and has been for a while. They have the Wii to thank for much of their cash in their pockets, and their money makers are still in genres that wouldn't even exist if the Wii hadn't opened wide the casual gaming market. Now they live and breath their own press. If they don't want to makes games for the Wii U, that's fine. I have zero problem with that. It's the lies, the dishonesty, and the blatant Wii U bashing that all but the biggest fanboys of other systems got over a while ago. The gaming public knows better now. Apparently they think we all ignorant rubes. Oops. They can take their rehashed and uninspired sequels and shove them. I actively hate liars.
@JaxonH
'Cheating the fans' instantly became a crock when that one dumba$$ admitted they held back the PS4 version to avoid debates that have always taken place throughout the history of this industry (again we all know the real reason but it what it is I guess). Ubiscum doesn't give a flying f**k about the fans, least of all on Nintendo consoles, that for sure. A few months ago the company announced Watch_Dogs was the last mature rated game it would publish on Wii U. Discussion from Ubiscum regarding the Wii U should've stopped there. Lame quotes like the ones given in this article don't help matters. The company-wide gag order needs to be issued today.
If Project Cars is coming to Wii U, (which I will buy to support devs and enjoy because it has appeal). Then they can bring this and EASILY Rogue.
UBISOFT: We will continue to make excuses not to release games for Wii U.
At this point there's no need for expectation from this idiotic company.
Can't they release these digitally only? It would definently benefit both fans and there eardrums.
@gatorboi352 Funny you mention that the Wii U isn't the place for third party titles when only three games out of my library for the system are Nintendo published titles / games. I guess I'm the 1% that actually enjoyed what AC games we did get for the Wii U. Especially Black Flag.
I know Ubisoft is giving up on mature titles for the Wii U as the owners of the system had spoken with their wallets and bought other games. The Wii U will still see more Ray Man games but anything else is now a wash.
@Gamer83
Right. If they don't want to bring their games to Wii U, that's fine, but there's no need for all the drama. Like you said, they should just shut up and get about their business, stop making pansy excuses for why they're not doing this or doing that...
I used to hold Ubisoft with the upmost respect. They could do no wrong in my eyes. That was before the Rayman delay and multiplat fiasco, stripping co-op from Splinter Cell, rushing ports with atrocious frame rates and lack of DLC, and poor quality even on PS4. I bought Trials Fusion physical copy w/season pass. I entered the code but it wouldn't unlock the content. I had to purchase it over again through PSN and take a refund. Then, after I upgraded my PS4 to 2TB, my content was gone and I had to repurchase it again and take another refund. All the while The game wouldn't connect to the UPlay servers. By the time they were offering casino wheel spins for Pre order bonuses, I was already way past enough...
And don't even get me started on Ubisoft bringing Rayman Legends to every platform under the sun except 3DS, when they already had the engine to use from Origins. A Vita port, yet no 3DS? When they already have an available engine? Not that I'm complaining about the Vita port- I bought it and love it! Just saying is all. And Child of Light, mia on 3DS. They won't even bring Tetris to Wii U! I mean seriously?! I know they stated their case about mature games not selling but this is Tetris we're talking about here! Corporate suits are ruining gaming and the fanboy mindset is ruining developers.
Oh cut the bullcrap Ubi. Cheating the fans. Massive Rant Engage
What about the way you cheated the fans by gimping the PC version of watch dogs to make the PS4 and Xbox one version look just as good as the PC version.
And what happened they you made the game run like crap. A mod made it so the game looked like the 2012 revile and how did he do that. Those files were in the game. When you came out and said that the mod would hinder your performance on the game. Guess what the mod improved the performance.
For me:
Before Mod: Could only run on Medium at 30 fps (so I could get a steady frame rate).
After Mod: I could run it on High at 60 fps.
You cheat out everyone on every platform. Remember when AC: Revelations. You released on the 360 on it's own but on the PS3 you gave a free copy of AC 1 and discount codes for 2 and brotherhood on the PSN store.
So Ubi you have no right to say that you don't want cheat anyone on the Wii U. Just be bloody Honest and you will get far more respect. By saying this Typical PR talk it makes you look worse and then you wonder why people hate you.
Rant Over
They need to learn to just shut it! If asked the question why no Wii U just say no comment and leave it alone.
where is my next gen experience anyway? everything i see on ps4 has just been nicely polsihed ps3 games. I bet all of my entire gaming collection that this wont be it either
“We don't want your crappy ports! Those are an insult!”
“Come on, not even a crappy port? Aren't you going to at least try?”
Go home Ubisoft, you are drunk!
@rjejr
OMG, you're my hero. Someone needs to call out this guy more often. He's so full of BS he should call himself Liquid BS Snake...LOL, OK, maybe that's a little over the top.
On topic: We all know it's $$$. Why even bother lying anymore Ubisoft? To be honest, that's the main reason I don't like you. Not because you won't put games on Wii U, but because you keep lying about the reasons...well and compromising most of your creativity for profit...that too
no no ubisoft, youve got it all mixed up. you would be cheating fans by NOT bringing assassins creed unity to Wii U
Whatever you say, Ubisoft. Whatever you say.
What's that? Something about a game not coming to Wii U? Assassin's Creed? Oh, phew. I thought it was something worth money.
So they were willing to release lesser versions of games before??? But now that they see they are not selling they are no longer willing to, and feel bad about it?? This is confusing. There games haven't brought dlc to the wii u versions and they have been crappier than the 360 and ps3 version. I didn't even finish AC3 because it was so damn glitchy.
Watchdogs is coming up and the lack of any sort of details from that game, well besides the whole no dlc for it thing, make me believe we will be getting a crappier version. I don't see them being ashamed of that, so I don't get it. I am holding out hope that it will be better than the current gen version, but I'm sure if I were to hold my breath for that I would probably turn blue and die.
Anything is possible, but the thing is, we don't really care anymore...
@JaxonH
I'm starting to see stuff from Ubi, just like I saw from EA and Capcom and recently Square, that I just don't like. At this point, the only games I think I can get behind anymore are the first party published ones. You know Bloodborne won't be held back by corporate people accepting MS' $$$ because it's Sony that's funding the project. For a game like Scalebound, Platinum only has to worry about making it for the Xbox One so even if it can't hit 1080p or 60 frames per second, at least we know the game is going to be optimized to the best of the development team's ability. Almost any game Nintendo publishes I don't worry about. But these third party multiplat games, I'm seeing a lot of stuff that bothers me. And MS' idiotic and irresponsible spending on certain things, and silly corporate jerks' willingness to accept that money is getting way out of hand. What really bugs me is it's getting to a point where I'm taking a stand but it's going to mean missing some games I really want to play. I wish these imbeciles would wake up but they won't and they don't have to as long as there are millions of idiots who will lineup outside Gamestop or Walmart for the next Assassin's Creed just because it says Assassin's Creed on the box.
Wait, so it would be cheating fans to put it on Wii U, but it's not cheating fans by downgrading the PS4 version to match the XB1 version? Seriously?
This is why I say "good riddance to bad rubbish"
@Gamer83
I try to stay out of gaming politics. Even when a publisher angers me I usually don't let that stop me from buying a good game that I want. But it's getting to a point now where there's too many great games out there to play all of them. For the past year or two I've been buying everything. EVERYTHING. On all consoles and handhelds. 47 games currently on pre order. And you know what? I don't need that many games. I don't need Assassin's Creed, or Call of Duty, or Grand theft Auto, or Rainbow Six Siege, or a dozen other games I had on preorder. I have canceled many of those, only leaving the ones I really want to play. Because let's face it, there's only so much time to play video games. And I just don't have time for games like this anymore.
I don't really like Ubisoft games and I don't like the last gen crap they try and bring to the Wii U. I know they are bringing Watch Dogs but its half a year late and no DLC. Their public comments are crap and full of excuses. I wouldn't waste my money on one of their games and if I get a PS4, I'm not sure I'd buy their games anyway. I don't even know why I clicked on the article to begin with! I knew it'd be more negativity from them. Nintendo should just come out and say we've moved on; 95% of Nintendo fans have.
At this rate all the major 3rd party franchises of the world will once again become mutually exclusive to a single brand of console... I'm sure this is all a ploy to get back at Nintendo for creating too many successful franchises.
@JaxonH
I've limited my pre-orders this gen, much more so than last, that's for sure. I still have a lot but it's not out of hand, last gen I was doing what you said you were doing recently, games on 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP I'd pre-order anything even if I was only semi-interested. That's not happening anymore. Big first party games like Halo, Uncharted, Zelda, MLB The Show, Forza, Gears or Mario? Those are instant pre-orders, third party games I'm getting more picky. I want to play GTA V on PS4 so I'm getting that, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain is a no-brainer and this year's CoD actually seems interesting so I've got that. I also have Far Cry 4 pre-ordered because 3 was excellent but after that, I'm a$$hurt enough about what has just happened with the PS4 version of AC Unity, and the way they're crapping on Nintendo fans, that I won't buy another Ubisoft game after that unless I start seeing some big changes from that company. A new leader that isn't a complete corporate tool would be a nice step in the right direction, but that won't happen.
Didn't even buy AC games when I was rocking a 360, so this doesn't matter to me at all.
Sigh, in this case, they should've just said that they won't bring it to Wii U because sales would be terrible.
HA! Okay i have nothing to say about this,cause this game was never going to come too the Wiiu anyway.So i'll move on,but if it was beyond good evil 2 or a prince of persia game skipping the Wiiu,then i'll be furious but it's assassins creed who cares?The franchise is already dead on the ground anyway.
Translation: We're lazy.
I mean, that's cool, Ubisoft.
I'd be cheating proper developers by spending any more money on your games.
Thanks for making my future buying decisions easier.
Bye.
lol, with AC turning into a yearly franchise.. it won't stay alive for long. Sorry but I don't think AC has the legs that CoD and BF have to come out year after year with minor changes. People will get bored of the same AC game over and over a lot faster than the same shooter over and over.
Over all... meh, in order to get their full game of AC now, you need to spend $100+ now with all the DLC and "extra" day one content they give.
It's funny Ubisoft cause you're cheating AC fans by NOT releasing the game on the Wii u.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/08/watch_dogs_will_be_the_only_mature_ubisoft_game_on_wii_u_in_upcoming_lineup
There you go, a clearer explanation.
The NL writers conveniently forgot about that article because they wanted to poke you all with the rage stick again.
You poor innocent souls...
So they aren't releasing a game I wouldn't buy. Sounds fair. Just be honest about the reasons, though: the sales wouldn't justify the effort of a port.
not hard to figure out why Rogue isn't coming, it's because these kind of games don't make a big enough sale on Nintendo consoles to make the cost of bringing the game to the console worth it
And read the comments from Nintendo fans, they'll say things like "I wouldn't buy it anyways.." so why should they bother to bring the game to the console anyways with the reactions they get from the Nintendo fans?
Ubi, I can go sell that copy of Rayman Legends I bought yesterday right now. In fact, I can never buy a game from you again because I refuse to support you any more.
All I read here is a lame excuse for being lazy. That's it.
@hydeks Exactly. At this point, I think Nintendo consoles sell to people looking for a different gaming experience. Multi-platform titles that could run on 3 other systems will just never sell as well. If I were looking to play titles like Assassins Creed, I'd be probably looking at another system. Fair enough to not release it; just say the reason why, since we all know what it is.
Its not like the ps4 or xbox version is doing very well right now either. 900p and 30fps is not very good. However they seem to be holding the ps4 version back so xbox doesnt look so much less capable
LOL
And once again, a news update about Ubisoft turns Nintendo consumers into petulant children.
Who's to say he's wrong? Unless you're a programmer and can 100% say for sure with evidence that the Wii U could run ACU to it's full potential, then you don't really know and have just as big an axe to grind against Ubisoft as you claim Ubisoft does for the Wii U.
As far as Rogue goes, I'd love to play that on Wii U but I COMPLETELY understand why it's not coming to Wii U. For one, it benefits neither side. Ubisoft obviously doesn't think their M-rated games sell on Wii U and would probably take a loss on that game. Plus, I don't think Nintendo would want the publicity of a "last gen" game only coming to PS3 and 360 ending up on Wii U too. That wouldn't look good. And really, even if it were, you people would be complaining anyway about the Wii U getting Rogue instead of Unity. You know I'm right.
P.S. : everyone calling AC3 and AC4 crummy ports on Wii U either didn't play them or had zero perspective. AC3 was broken on every console and AC4 is still the best experience I've had on Wii U to date.
@agqwestern projectplatinum is better then watch dogs project and it shall succeed.
Ubishat all over the WiiU again. I just don't even care anymore. Clearly the new game won't work, it needs more, but the other new game that could be fast enough ported over — no excuse other than the ones already made about the ownership pool. It's no wonder I snapped up a PS4 a couple months ago or so.
It's a shame Rayman had a following and probably would have had a huge windfall, in its initial release of Wii U. Ac3 is broken on Wii U, I had played it. Assasin's Creed 4 was lacking. I played it. The fact that it did not sell is simply because the content hadn't been on a Nintendo system before. That doesn't mean you abandon mature gaming on the console. Zombi U sold and still is selling. What could happen is these games no longer will be available on any consoles and there are other companies who can similar, better or different content. EA is biding their time. Ubisoft shouldn't mess round in the same areas. It's a shame. In the name of content and what each unique console brings, simply create content in order to be creatively and financially successful. Just Dance, Rabids and Rayman will only get that small share. There needs to be a whole quality package to Wii U, with mature, wholesome and other content. It will sell and net them profits.
in our minds we’d be cheating fans by providing a lesser version of the same game
HAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn guys this is the funniest stuff I've heard in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.
1) AC4 - No DLC
2) SC:BL - No Splitscreen
3) Child of Light - No DLC
4) Watch Dogs - No DLC
But hey, it's Ubisoft we're talking here. They can say whatever they want!
Their still making Assassin Creed games...?
Chicken or Egg. Third party games sell poorly on Nintendo consoles or Third Party games on Nintendo consoles are lazy, inferior ports. Ubisoft doesn't want to even be bothered to do a bad port, and I fully support them in their efforts.
If I am ever really interested, I can always buy my government subsidized game for PC once it drops to $19.99 three to six months after launch.
I read on a gamespot article the excuse for no Rogue is that Wii U owners don't buy AC games. Ubi is just coming up with any excuse they can.
@KillScottKill "AC3 was broken on every console and AC4 is still the best experience I've had on Wii U to date."
Um... If ACIV was the best experience you had, I can't say your judgement is all that valid. Mass Effect 3 was a better experience than that... and both Batman games. That's not to mention MK8, SM3DW, and even Hyrule Warriors. AC as a series is ok, but is far inferior to it predecessor, Prince of Persia.
This is all Ubisoft fault. They wont bring this game because they want to have system parity....
So yes, the wii U version would be limited, and based on Ubisoft BS policy, they would water down the other versions.
I can see Unity, maybe the scope of the game, but all that AI? Probably not. Rogue on the other hand...
@SanderEvers I'm on the No Ubisoft games EXCEPT BG&E2 boat along with you, my friend.
@Dipper723 Xenoblade Chronicles X, the Wii U game, not the Wii game. And the Wii game I would on par with an open world PS2 game.
Maybe it just costs more money to patch games on Nintendo's network. If that's the case, Ubisoft would be looking at a bad move releasing it on the Wii U. They'll be patching their game at least three times before half of the issues are sorted. That would also explain why the DLC isn't coming for Watch Dogs. It's all about the money.
@eaglebob345 didn't bother playing ME3 because I played it on PS3. AC4 is better than both Arkham games hands down (especially the most recent one).
SM3DW is a good game. Don't even get me started on MK8. Fun game and all, but it doesn't compare at all to AAA releases.
I can understand where they're coming from. Capcom tried porting Dead Rising to the Wii years ago, but the limited hardware made it so there were less zombies rendered at a time, hindering the signature claustrophobic experience of being surrounded on all sides by ghouls that the PS3 and Xbox 360 had.
@Darknyht
The egg came first. There's no debate about it.
I'm more than happy to never support Ubisoft again. Their only good franchise is Rayman, and if they release another title in that series I will get it used.
@Anthracks
Michel Ancel who created Rayman already left Ubisoft to form indie studio Wild Sheep. He is still working on Ubisoft projects though.

@R_Champ Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
The market isn't there for this game on Wii U anyway so whatever. I'm definitely looking forward to the game on PS4 though!
Great. Now that we have established that we as players don't want to buy your AAA multi-platform productions, and that you as a company no longer wish to provide them, can we then please, Ubisoft, have some of that amazingly colorful low-to-medium-budget creative craziness instead?
I don't care if people call those games casual, kiddy, shovelware, as long as they haven't got pocket farming schemes coming out their wazoos I'm interested.
Or should I be taking my business to Michel Ancel's new studio?
The only good things I will say about Ubi is how good Rayman was, and how good ZombiU was, full of flaws, but better energized survival horror than how the lazy slob Resident Evil/CrapCom has become. With that, the company I used to love is now gone, and is responsible for it's own 3rd party hatred, for choosing to port games to the Wii U 2-3 years later for full price and no dlc.
come on anybody who thinks AC Unity could run on Wii U is crazy, I find harder to believe that Xenoblade cannot run in regular 3DSs
@SanderEvers - I couldn't have said that any better.
During the N64 era there was a little title which was ported to the system called Resident Evil 2. The developers did a magnificent job of squeezing a massive CD based game onto a tiny 64MB cartridge and even improved on many aspects on the PS game.
This is why when publishers/developers come out with BS like this I never ever believe them. They are just lazy profit driven good for nothing "bleep"...£$%£$^£$^£$s....."bleep"....................
@CaptainToad
Resident Evil 2 on N64 had to do with space constraints. The N64 was technically not much more or less capable than the PS1, but the largest cartridge available held only one tenth of a CD.
AC Unity on Wii U has to do with processing constraints. All the crowds simulated in the new game have collision, physics, and artificial intelligence running. With a processor performing less than a fifth of what PS4/Bone provides, it's not hard to imagine that the game would have to be altogether different just to run on the Wii U.
I never expected Unity to come to Wii U however I did expect Rogue to, that has no excuse at all outside of Ubisoft's typical laziness.
@CharleSketch Captain Toad is looking to be delayed to 2015 in North America.
@Grumblevolcano Ah, bummer. Well, switch that game in my post with Bayonetta 1, since I didn't got the game for my PS3, so I'll be enjoying the definitive version of it.
Not possible? Just like how they said that rendering female models isn't possible (followed by the successive announcements of Hyrule Warrior, which consisted of female after female after female.....). I don't really like Ubisoft anymore, they can keep their games. I won't buy any of their stuff now on Wii U or PC.
Mah, AC over rated. Never liked the franchise. No biggy. Never really liked Ubisoft's franchises except for rayman, bought it for the WiiU. Watchdogs, we all know it's gonna bomb.
Ubisoft, just say it's because of sales, you know, the truth.
This is what I think we should do at Ubisoft's offices LMAO

If it's anything like the previous 18 AC games, we're not missing out on much.
Well, it didnt stop you in the past.
The guys at UbiSoft are at least very good learners. Theyve studied and mastered the ways of EA untill perfection.
Oh well, i couldnt care less to be honest.
Ubisoft: two questions...
-since when do you avoid cheating fans?
-isn't lying about your motivation also cheating fans?
A bonus question:
-When will you stop cheating BG&E fans, and bring the second game? Or a second Zombi U? What about Valiant Hearts? Red Steel 3? If any or all come to Wii U, I might become a fan again.
The real issue is the WiiU. It came out too late and now it is way behind the PS4 and Xbox One. That will never change and unless Nintendo releases a more powerful system then get used to not getting games. Honestly, Nintendo needs to focus on handhelds because they haven't got the console stuff right since the SNES days. I love Nintendo but there won't be another system if the WiiU doesn't prove sales.
I don't care about Assassin's Creed games anymore. They're all the same!
The only Ubisoft games i will buy are the Anno games on PC. But they are so rare that i can go without buying one of their games for a long long time.
I even got two of their games for WiiU so i do not consider me part of the "problem".
@edgedino yeah but i don't want bayonetta 2 so...
It all feels like a publicity stunt to appeal to the PS/XB crowd.. "OH LOOK AT THAT, WII U CAN'T HANDLE AC50,000,000!!" Yeah, uhh... I don't think they even tried to attempt putting it on the Wii U, sounds like laziness, because why put effort into making the touchscreen on the Gamepad useful to the experience?! TOO. MUCH. WORK!
The reason why Rogue isn't coming to Wii U is because it's a next gen console, Rogue is last gen. And why Unity isn´t coming, well, not powerful enough hardware. Guys, just wait for New Wii U, I'm sure we'll get a Nintendo version of Unity then.:3
I like myself some AC /DC instead ;=)
I'm done with Ubisoft, like an EA Games.
I lol'ed...
To be honest, I don't even care anymore. Nintendo is releasing high quality games and have lots of upcoming games that I can't wait to play, instead of playing some pooooooooooooooooooooooopy "AAA" game from either Ubisoft or EA.
I don't think Ubisoft has the right to say this, as all they've been doing since launch IS cheat fans who own a Wii U. With the exception of Rayman Legends and maybe AC3, Ubisoft is about as bad with Wii U ports as they are with PC. They'd be better off just not putting in the man hours, because honestly, I don't care about Ubisoft anymore. If they're going to cheat and disrespect fans who own a Wii U, that is absolutely wrong, and they don't deserve the money that may come from Wii U owners.
@Twiglingen yeah but xenoblade is nowhere near as graphics intensive or has the amount of AI running round as unity does
Oh, Ubisoft. Just when I think you can't get any douchier...
Ubisoft are in my top 3 disliked publishers right now alongside EA and activision.
Yeah, it's pretty obvious Ubi's writing off the Wii U now as a "casual" system without a substantial user base. Never mind how crappy most of the Wii U ports were, never mind the console was simply in the adoption phase at the time, they're not turning a profit because Nintendo didn't sell enough systems! /s
I don't really care that much though, unless another Rayman game comes out perhaps. I can't say I'll never buy a Ubisoft game again, I've actually been thinking about trying Assassin's Creed, but I have a PC I can do that with. I roll with Nintendo for Nintendo games, PC is my everything-else machine.
I know everyone is hurt over this but common guys. Ubisoft has given the Wii U tons of great games. More then a lot of other dev's have ever done.
I applaud them for that. I already preordered UNITY on my X1. I dont blame Ubi here. I got AC3-4 on the wiiU for great deals new.
Would love to see #AssassinsCreedUnity for #WiiU , I would buy it!!
See ya, Ubisoft. As a PC and Nintendo gamer, I now officially hate you for always and eternity.
It's not like this is an excuse for Ubisoft or anything, but if it's at least on the PC, it's okay. Valve's not going to release an original game for a console anytime soon, and that's not because they hate NintenSonySoft.
I'm done with Ubisoft. They seem to make all their decisions based around 2 specific systems and always find a way to screw over Nintendo and PC gamers. I'm done.
Kasplat:"even the "next gen" consoles cant handle 1080p 60fps Unity"
@Kasplat I'm not the least bit surprised. Those AMD tablet CPU's are just terrible for gaming. I'm flabbergasted that both companies went with the Jaguars.
The PS3's CPU is 3 to 4 times faster and able to handle FLOPs with ease... the jaguar is an absolute joke for gaming... A run of the mill dual-core CPU from 8 years ago would run circles around these 8 core jaguars.
I never liked you Ubisoft. gives Ubisoft the death stare
Why does ubisoft do this
