Hyrule Warriors Poster

It's that time again, North America, and a little later than normal this week. There's a major Wii U retail release for Zelda and action fans, an enjoyable slice of Game Boy Advance goodness along with some discounts and assorted other goodies. Let's get to it.

Missed the European Nintendo Download update earlier this week? Fear not, the details are right here.

Wii U Retail Download

Hyrule Warriors (Nintendo, $59.99) — The first of this period's wave of big-hitting Wii U retail titles arrives, with a first-of-its-kind collaboration between Tecmo Koei and Nintendo to bring us a combination of Dynasty Warriors and The Legend of Zelda. With an impressive cast and an adventure that travels across Hyrule, local co-op play and a retro-infused Adventure mode, this could potentially give Zelda fans the nostalgia and hack 'n slash combo they never knew they needed. You can read what we think of it in our Hyrule Warriors review. Available from 26th September.

Wii U eShop

Angry Bunnies: Colossal Carrot Crusade (Cypronia, $8.99) — The transition of 3DS games to Wii U continues with this one, a physics-based game that's basically Angry Birds with bunnies. This promises 150 levels, and although we were thoroughly unimpressed with the portable entry we'll give this one a fresh look on Wii U.

Darts Up (EnjoyUp Games, $2.49) — The 3DS eShop title makes its way to the Wii U's oche with some notable enhancements, including a combo feature and a new arcade mode with online leaderboards. Unfortunately these additions don't make it a must-have, as is made clear in our Darts Up review.

Wii U Virtual Console

Mario Golf: Advance Tour (Nintendo, $7.99) — This entry in the plumber's golf spin-off series emphasizes its efforts to incorporate RPG aspects into the basic gameplay, which is an area that some fans of these portable sports games particularly love. It's a bit of a success in this regard, too, as we explained in our Mario Golf Advance Tour review.

3DS eShop

Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal World Duel Carnival (Konami, $19.99) — Bringing the TV series to 3DS, this is all about collectible cards and doing battle to improve your deck. There are 11 different playable characters and 40 that make appearances, in total, from the TV show. We weren't blown away by this one but gave it a reasonable recommendation; check out our Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal World Duel Carnival review for the full lowdown.

Glory of Generals (CIRCLE Entertainment, $6.99 until 9th October, normally $9.99)
