Re: Poll: So, Should Pokémon Red And Blue Return For The 30th Anniversary?

Porky

@DennisReynolds It’s not really a “theory” it’s just how ratings work. If the gambling elements in the Game Corner weren’t an issue under stricter European regulations, The Pokémon Company International would have rereleased these games a long time ago.

There’s clear demand, and it would be easy money. The problem is that Europe has much stricter rules around simulated gambling in children’s games. If those titles received a higher age rating there, it would mean either altering the games or excluding a major market. From a business perspective, I can understand why TPCi wouldn’t want to pursue a release that leaves out a significant portion of their audience.

Releasing them through Nintendo Switch Online wouldn’t bypass this either. NSO still follows regional age ratings. Nintendo even had to separate mature titles into a dedicated 18+ NSO app. There’s realistically no scenario where Nintendo or TPCi would create an 18+ NSO app just to release classic Pokémon games. That would conflict with Pokémon’s family-friendly brand and their goal of reaching the widest possible audience... especially if it meant excluding children.

Any games featuring the gambling in the Game Corners will not be rereleased and here's why:

You'd think they'd rerelease these games long before now if they could. But thanks to Europes current rules regarding simulated gambling, the entries with the Game Corner would lead the games be rated 18+. Given that Nintendo generally wants Pokemon rated for a wider audience and I don't think they'd release an NSO app +18 primarily for Pokemon, we'll never see a release of these games without heavily alteration. Times have changed since rereleasing on 3DS with what's appropriate for age ratings.

Re: Turok 2 Gets Another Update On Switch, Here Are The Patch Notes

Porky

@MirrorFate2 It's as I said. And those wanting to retain a memorable scene upon bootup shouldn't be called out on it if it's preventable? It's not sacrilege to not update a game for more reasons than one. There's bugs I don't want fixed that I am adamant on keeping!,,, Such as the TotK duplication and Mario & Luigi Brotherhood skipping

The game works fine from as far back to the first released iteration and whatever the physicals patch number were released as. These are but fixes to blemishes than game breaking bugs that causes crashes that most wouldn't even recognize as a graphical glitch or bug unless you're a speedrunner or hard core enthusiast of these games.

I must say, what an ironic statement coming from a Pokemon fan? Your series suffers from the most egregious bugs and the lot of you pretend a problem doesn't exist 'cause it wasn't encountered in your inital playthrough playing damage control. But these lesser series you suddenly have standards? Rules for thee, but not for me.

Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Mega Dimension (Switch 2) - Repetition Takes The Shine Off

Porky

@Buizel A new game is objectively better. In past instances, they added QoL, readjusted the story/balancing/locations with further texture details & trainers teams & Pokemon availability, and improved the performance to name a few. All baked into the game. There's almost no reason to play, say, Diamond/Pearl over Platinum.

DLC usually leaves the base game unchanged and in ZA's case, feels like withheld content (because it is let's not kid ourselves).

Pokemon games held their value. You could sell a game and buy its 'third version' for almost no loss (can't sell paid DLC). The Mega Dimension is priced the same to a Pokemon game for the handheld pre Switch era funnily enough.

Re: Team Zombie Gobbles Up A Win In Splatoon 3's Splatoween Splatfest

Porky

@HeadPirate Splatfests are slowing down. There used to be 'fests either every month or bi monthly leading to Past, Present, Future. Going into 2025, it's either bi monthly or quarterly we'd get a 'fest. Can't argue that.

What's unique about this seasonal splatfest than the ones before is it is a respeat of not the previous 'oween, but the one in 2023. The special seasonal 'fests before at least were themes not yet appeared in Splatoon 3. We did have a repeat of a normal 'fest involving chocolates coincidentally in 2025 after Past, Present, Future.

Splatoon 1 added a helpful feature after the final 'fest where after 30 wins Judd would gift the player a Sea Snail or however many the player accumulated before talking to him. Splatoon 2 added a system in 2.0 patch where for every level you gained, Judd would grant you a Sea Snail. Them adding the prestige system making levels infinite allowed for a surplus of Sea Snails. And Nintendo wasn't done with Splatfests at that point since Splatoon 2 proved to be popular also. There's no rule that says they can't do the same for Splatoon 3 especially an ideal prize for the Shell Out Machine.

There's about 51 slots one must unlock for all amiibo gear requiring at least 1 Sea Snail per gear. Then you got to take into account of the gear obtained by loading up from a news article with some gear starting out with 2 out of 3 gear slots. For players that started not day 1, not always participate in 'fests due to life circumstances, or not maxing out rank, it is daunting. Or someone like me who is still struggling to 3 and 4 star amiibo and Grizzco gear since that's the only method to. It's not necessary, but it does lessen the grinding for ability chunks some,,, as the higher star rank a gear posses means you get a bonus multiplayer to exp to gain another chunk and I like to customize & use different gear for change.

To desire another method for Sea Snails when all previous entries had done so shouldn't be unheard of?

Re: Team Zombie Gobbles Up A Win In Splatoon 3's Splatoween Splatfest

Porky

Since Splatfests are slowing down evident by the last one we had 'til now & this being reused, Nintendo should give us an alternate means to obtain Super Sea Snails as done in previous games. Methods like every 30 matches won, every level gained nets the player one, and a chance through the Shell Out Machine.

Re: Pokémon Champions Reveals Multiplayer Battle Mode Options

Porky

@Fiskern Help me understand, will Pokemon Champions allow us to edit our chosen Pokemon's possible moves, stats, natures, and abilities effortlessly like a battle simulator without grinding it out in the main games? Will they have generation gaps for those preferring to play in older generation mechanics, like Gen 1, 2, 3, 4 for example?
