Re: Mother 3 Is Coming To Nintendo Switch Online, But There's A Catch

Porky

@Princess_Lilly Whatever. Ultimately, Nintendo does consider these things 'else they would had folded and translated it by now. They've had ample opportunities: originally release on GBA, anniversaries, rereleases coinciding with Japan, etc. It seems that Nintendo knew the fans would be devastated with no Mother 3 translation so they prepared a consolation prize of giving the west five heavily desired Microsoft/Rare games. Doesn't dispell the disappointment, but they tried I think.

Re: Mother 3 Is Coming To Nintendo Switch Online, But There's A Catch

Porky

@demacho They could but that’s generally not something Nintendo tends to do. Likely scenario is they'll carry the service over while leaving the Switch to further incentivise people to buy their latest consoles.

They're literally games as a service. You don't own them. That's why people hate this.

Re: Mother 3 Is Coming To Nintendo Switch Online, But There's A Catch

Porky

@Princess_Lilly They are like okama, sorta the Japanese version of drag queen. The attention seekers that wanna find offensive in everything will contrive it like that's Japan/Nintendo's depiction of trans and make a ruckus online, damaging Nintendo's image. And we know Nintendo cares a lot about their perceived image more nowadays. Case and point, Advanced Wars Reboot Camp delayed years due to ongoing U-know-what-rain war

If you're referring to Moonside, Ness & party wasn't drunk. It was a projection injected to their minds by the Mani Mani statue.

Re: Mother 3 Is Coming To Nintendo Switch Online, But There's A Catch

Porky

If Nintendo had any intention in localizing it, now would had been the time to match the Japanese release. So they don't and honestly that's for the better. A faithful fan translation exists and Nintendo Treehouse of today would butcher the heck out of it in localization.

It has lots of themes that are not okay with modern west like the portrayal of the Magypsies, human resembling beings whose traits include masculine bodies, facial hair, behave and dress incredibly feminine. They look trans without trying to fool you basically and pretty intergal to the story so they wouldn't be able to bypass it. Also there's a segment where Lucas & party eats mushrooms that they get drugged out having to traverse out of the forest while in their unusual state.

Least to say is if Nintendo butchered them or not, they would get a lot of flak for the censoring or their image will be damaged if they remained faithful because people will cry out online and make a big deal out of nothing.

Re: Team Friday Triumphs In Splatoon 3's Latest Splatfest

Porky

@swoose I was being rhetorical, those I listed being excuses by detractors in past Shiver wins. If mirror matches did count, the most popular team would be farming the heck out of clout off themselves and make it not even a chance for the other teams. Mirror matches don't harm any team, they just were unlucky with the win distribution

Re: Team Friday Triumphs In Splatoon 3's Latest Splatfest

Porky

The best part of Splatfest begins! And you don't even have to play a single match to appreciate it.

Let the salt over which idol won (or more specifically which one DIDN'T win) begin.

Was it simps? Japan? Some other conspiracy? Only time will tell! The new cope being thrown around is 'mirror matches' even though they've been prevalent since after the first Splatfest of S1.

Re: Review: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy (Switch) - A Fine Remaster With Some Of Capcom's Best Writing

Porky

@SlowPokemon I've read the disclaimer; I generously quoted it for you even. Suppose 'some' would be an indicator, but why even have the disclaimer in the first place if you're going to further neuter dialogue anyway? Could keep quiet like Nintendo does with their remasters of Pikmin 1 & 2.

That aside, how's it better? Feels forced. @Lizuka Reminds me of crunchyroll with onimai where they changed girls' sitting posture and girly behavior to omit 'girl.' They're trying to remove gender from common behavior and attiaire of males and females because of their world views. And that's just a spec of what's been discovered that's changed so far. Shouldn't be surprised at this point since Crapcom loves that ESG money.

Re: Online Play For Steel Diver: Sub Wars On 3DS Has Been Discontinued Early

Porky

@Pat_trick I hear what you're saying, and that's all great, but I stopped caring. I wish you the same.

@FatBeverly You state no one is playing this game; only wanting to because of the announcement of the online service closure and this article. No, because it's been disfunct for 4 months. Before that, the activity may have not been booming, but there was a dedicated playerbase.

The world doesn't revolve around you two, just because you hadn't touched these games doesn't mean it was without players. Nintendo spent half a year resolving Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 to get it back running, if it was any later they likely would had discontinued sooner as well like Steel Divers. Those last generation games are thriving last I played this weekend.

Re: It's Official, 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends 8th April 2024

Porky

It really sounds like they plan to pull the plug early. Why would they bother with this message if not?

"Please note that if an event occurs that would make it difficult to continue online services for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U software, we may have to discontinue services earlier than planned"

Prepare for the worst and don't wait until the last minute, get your last gaming sessions in and DLC bonuses sooner rather than later.

Re: It's Official, 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends 8th April 2024

Porky

@imadeanaccount One particular Youtuber does this series called 'Corrinquest' where he plays through Fire Emblem Conquest with only Corrins submitted by viewers. He's doing one last run before the servers gets axed and the series is quite popular. It'll be sad that won't be possible in the coming months.

Re: Three More Sega Classics Are Being Revived, It's Claimed

Porky

@DestructoDisk Nah, I'd rather listen to Google translated Text-To-Speech robot voices say what the ACTUAL creators wrote, than hear localizers replace with corny flowery word bloat, rewrite dialogue that fits in their worldviews, and turn everything into Gen Z/modern slang.

Re: The Turok 3 Remaster On Switch Has Been Subject To A Short Delay

Porky

@LikelySatan The detail in gore, dismemberment, the screams of agony, the stealth sections, AI behavior, the varied Slegs and their choice of weaponry, their humorous dialog and banter that goes unnoticed by many, and who could forget the poison that makes enemies throw up their guts? I thought the humanoid reptilian race Slegs was fascinating while menacing (their creepy appearance, stature, and voice), anyway. Mixed reception or not, will like to see it brought back like it's predecessors.

Re: The Turok 3 Remaster On Switch Has Been Subject To A Short Delay

Porky

I forgot the release date and assumed it'd be pushed to 2024, so makes no difference to me. With the Turok N64 Trilogy being available on modern platforms, it's got me wondering if Turok Evolution will ever resurface. I have the most fond (and frightful) memories of that particular one. Would absolutely love to play that again with a modern touch.

Re: 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends In "Early April 2024"

Porky

@Shepdawg1 Fire Emblem Fates there is a Visitor and Battle Bonus for visiting and battling people in their castles. There's reward milestones for both category. These include weapons and stat boosters. Also, some castles by fellow players were designed to allow support bonus grinding and resource gathering. I still actively use these features, so personally, this is a huge blow. My days of grinding those lengthy bonuses are numbered. 😔

Re: 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends In "Early April 2024"

Porky

Whelp. Will try to play original Splatoon, Mario Kart 7, and other online games exponentially more now knowing that. What a huge downer.. Guess what though, after WiiU and 3DS, Nintendo Switch is the next on the chopping block albeit later down the road.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Mario vs. Donkey Kong On Switch

Porky

@Cashews Isn't there just a GBA version? I have it on my 3DS via 3DS ambassador.

This remake kinda deconfirms the GBA version for NSO yes? Like the Advanced Wars 1 & 2 with the Reboot Camp remake released. That's the only caveat I find with these remakes, Nintendo would rather sell the remakes for full retail price or close than offer the original on their subscription service.

Re: Team Shiver Walks Away With Another Win In Splatoon 3's Latest Splatfest

Porky

@MooseTinsel Was there? Or is this another instance of "My source is I made it up."

Either way, Popularity vote is not a huge factor as it only grants 8 points while Fyre's team won the Sneak Peak vote gaining 7 points, so the two were close to equal before the deciding points were applied that are reliant on the teams overall skill.

@Fizza That's kinda what I'm alluding to. Idol preferences isn't the deciding factor of majorities pick nor should it. It's the team choices on offer. In this instance, Shiver is ideally the leader and its been stated in the game she was prior, so naturally many will side with her. But there were times when Shiver got a less ideal team preference like Spicy and Dark Chocolate and lost! I do not agree teams should get 'pity' Splatfest wins with a objectively worse team choice for diversity sake. The underlining problem is Nintendo often gives her the better of the three team choices and not offering up choices that would really split peoples vote evenly. If your suspensions are that the majority are picking solely on idol faviotism, then Nintendo should hide the idol team preferences until maybe the day of Splatfest?

Re: Team Shiver Walks Away With Another Win In Splatoon 3's Latest Splatfest

Porky

@Fizza What's your issue with the wins, that they're not 'diversed' enough for you? That shouldn't matter, it's not Shivers fault that Nintendo is giving her the objectively better team choices.. Japan isn't picking Shiver prior to this Splatfest solely for her, it's the side she's aligned on usually the ideal one, but not always!

Re: Review: Fire Emblem - The Blazing Blade Is Still As Sharp As Ever

Porky

@TheBigK True that. Also, play the Japanese version of this entry. Localization thought the game may be too hard for us western players, so they changed the effectiveness of weapons like Armourslayers, Halberds and the like from 3x to 2x damage, severely gutting those weapons, nerfing Bow class units and making Flyers even better than they normally are... If you want a rise in difficulty and know Japanese, play the Japanese version 😅.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's GBA Library With Fire Emblem

Porky

People are gonna relive FE7, play just one playthrough that forces the easiest tutorial and difficulty on new saves, complete with eaze, and think Lyn is the best unit in the game ever when that's far from the truth. Quite lackluster in harder difficulties.

Hector Hard Mode is the actual meat of the game. You gotta complete the game 2 or 3 times; with increasing the difficulty every completion before getting access to HHM. Shame they hadn't released a SP version with those unlocked from the get-go.
