Re: Nintendo Highlights Super Mario's Game History In 40th Anniversary Timeline

PinderSchloss

@HalBailman You forgot to consider greedflation: companies taking advantage of inflation to sneak in some extra $'s.
In no reality is this price reasonable. That's what you ask for a new game that hundreds of people worked on for years. You can't keep doing that for every re-release unless all the people who worked on the original also get a cut.

It's horrible to see them blame it on inflation and get away with it. It's nothing less than gaslighting the consumers they so depend on.

Re: Newcomers Can Break Final Fantasy VII Remake With New Difficulty Settings

@FredBiletnikoff That's a pretty lousy analogy. Dicussion is what a news site and comments are for.
Do you really want a comment section where people only express their deep appreciation for princess Peach's outfits?

Some of us like to think critically. People who don't like the negativity, should point their arrows at Nintendo for upsetting everyone.

Anyone who wasn't upset by that last Direct is probably part of the problem.

Re: Nintendo Is "Acting To Protect The Industry" With Switch 2 Game Key Cards, Says Ex-Capcom Composer

PinderSchloss

@GrailUK
They could have spent more money on the Switch 2's buses, but they already knew they’d use this instead, which is (again) cheaper for them and worse for us.
They know what it means for preservation, but they chose the cheaper route, so it can feel like a better piece of hardware than it actually is.

If they try to sell you pieces of cardboard for $25 and Happy Meal toys for $50, you can be sure they’re cutting corners on the insides of their consoles.

Like the article says, this wouldn't be a problem if Nintendo made some real preservation efforts.

His "Do you really think a rich company would do that?" argument is hilarious

Re: Surprise! Kirby Air Riders Is Getting A Second Direct

No matter how hard they try, this will never be Smash Bros.
Let him direct 'Mario Kart Universe'
with Minions, Lara Croft, Cloud, Sonic, etc. Each with their own tracks.

Imagine Cuphead drifting past Sephiroth in Green Hill Zone, on Link's motorcycle.
They wouldn't even be limited to 'fighter' characters. Peppa Pig and Cooking Mama can join too.

It's billions for the taking, Nintendo...

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Prices Are Live, And It's Sticker Shock Time

PinderSchloss

@The_Nintendo_Pedant It always bothers me that Nintendo tries to make 'fun' their main hook. But paying 80€ is only 'fun' for people with an above average income.
And nobody should talk to me about inflation because that's precicely what Nintendo is taking advantage of here. It's called greedflation and this company is one of the worst examples.
"I guess we have to sell our old remasters as expensive as we can get away with, it's the inflation!"
Never mind accessibility features in games about disabled people. That would mean less profit! Oh, look, a talking plant. Such fun.

Re: Opinion: Silksong's Tight Construction Is Exactly What I Need After Too Much Open-World Loafing

PinderSchloss

Hollow Knight has tons of other qualities that made it 'not suck', but the way it made you backtrack was just poor design. It might be a genre convention, but there is absolutely nothing fun about it. This 'backtracking as a punishment' idea is ridiculous, no matter how many fans a game ends up having.

And now that I'm here with my hot take: I also think all the lines are too thick. This would look twice as refined if they just used thinner lines. It looks like a (very pretty) flash game right now. The 'hand drawn' style looks way too digital.

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

PinderSchloss

Difficulty should always come with good Quality of Life.

I hate how Souls games make you backtrack every time you fail. That's not fun. Trying to dodge a huge troll who's hitting at you with a tree is fun. It's unnecessarily tedious.

I love Celeste because it was really hard, but it let you retry instantly.
Hollow Knight was more in the first category, so I expect this to be largely the same.

Re: Brownie Brown's GBA Title 'Magical Vacation' Returns This Week (Japan)

PinderSchloss

This is a perfect oportunity for Nintendo to release this with an english translation. The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls is another example. It would take relatively little effort, and it would add a lot of value to their service.
What better reason is there to play these old games, than to play games that have never been released in the west?
