Re: Pokémon Developer Game Freak To Reveal More About 'Beast Of Reincarnation' Later This Month

Why don't people want to hear that this is A.I.? Almost nobody is talking about this and people are finding all these other reasons this lazy company can do highly detailed graphics all of a sudden.
It worries me that considering A.I. hasn't become a natural reflex yet. It's not all bad, but it is if we start defending companies for 'probably' not using it, when they clearly did. It has that overpolished look. You don't go from PS2 graphics without art direction to this without at least some AI.
They couldn't even be bothered to determine a simple colour palette, and now we have pores and individual eyelashes? Wake up people.

Please consider this:
Before, any artist used references taken from magazines, books, etc. If you needed to draw someone doing jiu-jitsu, there's no way any artist would have drawn that without a reference.
But these images are all copyrighted works by other photographers.
Now copyright law says you can use something as long as it's completely transformed, and this illustrations of jiu-jitsu fighters will always fall under that.

But if you ask A.I. to generate you a reference of a fighter, you're actually doing less stealing than when you're tracing that image from the newspaper. It won't look like anyone else's work, and the illustrator in question will have to do just as much work to transform it.

Bottom line:
brainstorming, references = ok
Using generated images as they are and making a profit = not ok

I was so into the first one, but they've become a bit monotonous. I'd like to see a new title use a more colourful palette. This Final Fantasy 6 inspired muddiness was fine. But imagine a more futuristic setting and Secret of Mana colours.

If a series has success now, it often gets stuck inside a safe frame. Just like Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty and Pokemon.

May 2026 bring very few pictures of Cloud

Glad for anyone who enjoys this but I'm really full of FF7. We haven't stopped hearing about this game since it came out. It's been an endless loop of FF7 - Advent Children - Crisis Core - Remakes and remasters, Cloud in Kingdom Hearts. Cloud, Cloud. Cloud! Cloud!!!

I Guess Tidus and Squall and Zidane should have had bigger swords

I wish those hand painted objects had hand painted shadows, not these random lines with some gaussian blur slapped on : )

The backgrounds are beautiful and they should remove the blur from those as well. Depth should come from less detail, not this haze which only makes it feel less organic. At most the backgrounds could use a bit of a layer mask with some cooler tones to give it more atmospheric perspective.

Every returning character in RE has felt like fan service and none of them felt necessary. I don't enjoy RE for the character development of Leon.

I seem to be alone though. People really do get excited for these cameos. To me they just look like the most nineties characters imaginable and they don't fit in a hyperrealistic 2026 game. And it makes games feel less like they can stand on their own.
