Re: Upcoming Pirate Metroidvania Mixes Hades-Style Visuals & Soulslike Combat On Switch Next Year

Oof that voice acting is kind of rough.
I do like the in-game animations. The gameplay looks very fluid and exactly the kind of game I'd love to spend hundreds of hours on.
The art direction is a bit uneven, taking Hades a bit too much as a reference, but not applying that style consistently. The medieval setting isn't as colourful or exciting as Hades' world. That's the comparison you'll get.
They should just focus on the fun and make that character a little bit more legible.

Re: Visions Of Mana Director Joins Square Enix After Leaving NetEase's Ouka Studios

I’m playing it on PS5, and the art direction of this game is out of this world! Best looking environments I’ve ever seen, hands down. Not as much the way things are rendered, but more how every landscape creates awesome vistas with clearly defined silhouettes from every given angle. It’s almost like magic.
I wonder how much of that was also the director’s merit.

Edit: had no idea it wasn’t on Switch but that doesn’t surprise me. That would take so many concessions. I do hope it’s coming to Switch 2 because this is the kind of game Nintendo fans will love.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES Library With Another Classic Next Week

Oh my, is the tap still dripping? 🙄
They should really find a better way for us to play old games on the next console. Virtual console was perfect and everyone thought so.

Hang on..

“Hey, Nintendo, I wish Virtual Console never came back! I want my retro gaming channel to have unremarkable games released at steady intervals, while the great classics are held back.”

Maybe that helps? 😏

Re: Sony May Be Plotting A New PSP To Compete With Nintendo's 'Switch 2'

PinderSchloss

Can’t wait for Sony to show how this is done again. I do think it’s easier to optimise a console for handheld only.
Also, this will be a handheld I can finally play again, my Switch having had drift since launch.
Integrated controllers seem like a much better idea than Nintendo’s fickle oversensitive gimmicks.

(Gee I do hope this won’t be deleted for being ‘unconstructive’ again. I’m under the impression that we’re discussing Sony’s new handheld so I hope the NintendoLife Gods are in my favour this time)

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Is Eating Up Views On YouTube

@abbyhitter Something with the lyrics ‘Not to sound cliché but this world sucks’ is a ‘best part’ of something?
I didn’t need to hear that in every single battle. It was a crazy choice. Usually battle themes change throughout the game or they’re designed to not become repetitive.
Battle themes are always cut off somewhere in the middle, when the battle is over. You don’t use lyrics for something with that function. It’s weird and annoying.

I’m also talking about the option to remove the vocals, so you can still hear that musical masterpiece as often as you want.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Ys Game? Rate Your Favourites For Our Upcoming Ranking

PinderSchloss

@Kingy I do get what you mean with VIII’s bosses being pretty straightforward. But it sounds like you really need to play the highest difficulty! Those optional bosses were still giving me trouble at high levels. And there’s automatically a bit more strategy involved because you have less opportunities to attack.

My ideal Ys game would be three characters to switch between, each with their distinct abilities (short range, long range and buffs/healing), Origin type bosses and a story and exploration like in VIII.
I don’t want to complain about graphics in a game with a perfect performance, but a bit more visual appeal would make the exploration even more enjoyable.

Re: Review: Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo - Pricey But Delightful, And Something Only Nintendo Could Pull Off

PinderSchloss

So basically it has almost zero functionality for what you’d actually use an alarm clock for. And it reacts to your movements, but that doesn’t always work well? They forgot that people don’t always sleep alone? An alarm clock in 2024 that doesn’t let you set multiple alarms?
No AC adaptor at this price??
I’m done.

Come on NintendoLife, this is clearly not a ‘good’ product by any stretch.

Edit: I actually think you have a responsibility with a product like this, to make sure people don't spend 100€ on something that won't have any lasting appeal. By making this a pretty 'good' review, many people will make decisions to buy something that is obviously severely overpriced for what it offers. Please keep that in mind as much as your nostalgic love for Nintendo stuff.

Re: Saudi Public Investment Fund Reduces Its Stake In Nintendo

PinderSchloss

@nhSnork That’s ridiculous. If I buy second hand, Nintendo isn’t getting one extra penny from me. I won’t let them have my money because of the way I was treated. It’s really simple: I paid for a fully functioning console, but after three repairs, Nintendo still refused to replace my controllers. How stupid would I be to give them more money before getting what I paid for?
But that doesn’t mean they get to deprive me of my games as well. What good would that do?

‘Hedonistic addictions’? ok lol

Re: UK Charts: Zelda Echoes Last Week's Decent Performance

PinderSchloss

If we’re talking sales, can we also compare this to Link’s Awakening, which sold much more in its first week?

I’ve spent some more time with the game and it’s seriously the worst gameplay I’ve ever experienced in a Nintendo game.
Making your way around this world with that passive fighting is excruciating. And in a game based on menus, it has frame drops every time you close a menu. Such great design!
It’s just a weird idea to implement something so passive, just because they’re too sexist to let a girl fight.
That blind 9/10 was hilarious as per usual.

Re: Saudi Public Investment Fund Considering Increasing Its Stake In Nintendo

PinderSchloss

@HeadPirate Thanks for that info! Don’t think it should be like this, though. But I have a hard time accepting they can’t refuse a sale. That’s wrong in so many ways.
I am actively boycotting Nintendo for various other reasons already. I’m never buying new Nintendo products, only 2nd hand. I know it’s pretty useless when millions of people don’t care about a company’s ethics. But there’s no way I can justify giving them any money after they didn’t provide the product I paid for.
